The name has now changed and has an unusual name. Best wheat free cake ever. My friend told me , when she had it. I had the usual explosive calorie cake. Perfect , probably the tastiest cheesecake I have had. The staff are so lovely .

My twin brother Stephen and I decided to cross over the Swing Bridge and visit some of the great pubs in Gateshead, one of my favourites was The Grey Nags Head Pub. A wonderful looking pub, a solid wood serving bar dominates the main room, dark wood features abound throughout this pub, great decor and furnishings, tv's and big screens to enjoy the sport and plenty of seating options spread throughout this pub, all in all a wonderful local traditional pub. We ordered at the bar ,as it was a really hot afternoon we both chose Woodpecker cider ,these were served iced cold, we grabbed a table were we settled down and enjoyed our ciders. The cider served in here was really good, a crisp, effervescent and most importantly iced cold cider that really cut through the thirst on a hot afternoon, must mention the barmaid in here ,a wonderful cheerful person,made a fuss of my twin and I, really made us feel welcomed in the pub,Geordie hospitality at its finest. We really enjoyed our ciders in here before we moved on and although our visit was only fleeting for a first time visit to The Grey Nags Head Pub we were totally impressed. The Grey Nags Head Pub is easy to locate along High Street in Gateshead. Opening hours are; Monday to Thursday, 11am till 11pm. Friday & Saturday, 11am till Midnight. Sunday, 11am till 11pm. A wonderful pub,if you're this side of the River Tyne a pub I highly recommend you visit.

The William IV on High street is a local pub in Gateshead that offer a decent range of beers and was one of several pubs that we visited on a day out around Gateshead. A solid old style boozer that is housed in a traditional pub style building'the interior is again a traditional pub interior with lots of good seating options and an outside area at the back with extra seating options. I don't know why but I adore going to pubs like this as it brings me back to when I first started drinking many years ago and most of the pubs I visited where like this. This pub was very busy when we visited as where most pubs we went to in Gateshead and when here we had a couple of bitters from the John Smith's brewery which were well served and priced. This is another superb local boozer and is well worth visiting as the staff were friendly and they offer a well priced range of beers and is very easy to locate from High Street bus stop it's a minute's walk.(This is my first review of the William IV). Brilliant for burgers and fried chicken in lots of different styles. Proper hearty food. Food for the soul. Also staff are friendly and helpful. Dogs everywhere, so if you don't like them then probably not the place for you.

Sunday lunch was excellent , really good quality main and nice atmosphere.

Goof visit... good pint.... nice local

Afternoon tea is very popular. Pre booking is necessary. Beautiful Victorian era mansion within Jesmond Dene, the Ouseburn valley.

Having a usual Monday night drink with half a dozen regulars over 60 years of age, when an embarrassed member of staff informed us to see our drinks off at 11.02 pm. I asked who instructed her to do this and she said the Manager, the Manager was not on duty that night but a female team leader who is avoided by most of the regulars was. I would like to inform Tim Martin that when you hire staff you should explain to them that they are not running the pub for their benefit, and are merely employees, he is doing his business no favours alienating his customers by officious jumped up squirts!

Such a nice pub but oddly empty on a Sunday. Come on in, the beer is great!

Good quality ingredients, beautifully prepared - only one snag very salty. I am not sure if it was because of too much salt or MSG used in the dishes, however, it wouldn't put me off from ordering from there again. Didn't have to wait that long for the delivery either.
