Brilliant place, music not to loud, food was excellent, all round a good afternoon out

Had our small wedding reception booked, just got an email that they have cancelled it, no explanation, said we could have it August we get married October. Given us three months notice even though I was told not to worry. Probably a bigger party booked instead. Very unreliable, will never visit or recommend again.

So we had our very small simple wedding reception booked, that I have spent money on decorations for, wouldn't take a deposit and wouldn't let us pay for food until two weeks before, received a voicemail telling me they had cancelled it but could give us August-we are getting married October. Very very bad, still no explanation as to why. Why have they not got a pub number to call? Will NEVER be back, very very disrespectful

My husband, a friend and I recently popped in the The Queen Victoria for some post xmas drinks. The staff where lovely and one lady was so kind to show my hubby to the disabled bathroom. Drinks where great and bar was lovely. We will be back again soon.

I went to the qv on a busy Friday night. First time in ages I have seen it busy. Bought a drink and at half ten a girl came around to tell us it was last orders. Half ten !!!! I couldn't believe it. A very miserable man behind the bar was clearing the mats away ready to close at 11. Then at 10.45 about 10 people came in to have drinks to be told it was closing..who ever owns this bar has put the wrong people in to look after it. It will be closed again soon as me and my two Friends definitely won't go back.

Wow, my first visit to this pub and I was not disappointed. From the moment we walked in the staff were friendly and attentive and treat you like a friend. The prices are good, £5 something for a Pint of fosters and a half of coke. Sunday dinners are incredible-seriously…for £14 you can get a trio of meats with 3 yorkshires and veg (see the photos) the plate was overflowing with food. For £12.50 the beef dinner was as amazing, I couldn’t eat it all. All in all one of the friendliest pubs I’ve been in in a long time and the food is an absolute must to try. Thanks to all the staff working on the afternoon of Sunday 10th September - you are fabulous!!! We will be back 😀😀

The new Korean menu is an exciting change from the usual "pub grub" Throughly enjoyed the beef in blackbean sauce..extremely tasty..friendly bar staff...& an all round pleasant atmosphere...I will definitely visit again..sooner rather than later..

We decided to try the new Restaurant in the Queen Victoria, upstairs in the pub. It is recently opened and seemingly hasn’t been promoted yet. The staff and service was excellent and although the menu was a bit confusing the person serving was very happy to explain. We found the food to be delicious and reasonably priced, the portions were generous. It’s a shame they haven’t promoted this restaurant yet because it is something different and a very nice change. Hopefully once it catches on it will prove very popular. We will definitely be back.

Had new Asian food wasn't the best not sure If its a starting curve ?

Staff and draft selection was brilliant, however, the same cannot be said for the newly opened pan Asian dining experience. Having gone to the Queen Vic for a pint with my girlfriend and another mate we decided on trying the new menu after ordering drinks, and oh how I wish we hadn't. My stomach is a mess today from what I suspect to be from the popcorn chicken as both myself and my friend ordered the same and we're both ill. My girlfriend is fine as she decided not to try them. The batter was soggy and the texture wasn't great. We also ordered the salt and chilli fries that had a pool of grease at the bottom of the bowl. The beef bao buns also weirdly tasted like tuna.

Popped in for lunch today, didn't realise the menu had changed. It is a Korean menu now. I had the spring roll and my daughter had the Noodles and Kimchi. Both were superb, best Kimchi I've had outside of a Korean dedicated restaurant. Sauces were excellent. Excellent staff, will be back.

Food was excellent, chef Gary apparently back. Staff were very friendly and attentive serving food and drinks. We had the spicy chicken burger + the gammon which were cooked perfectly. Chips were great too. Good atmosphere and busy.

The wine is to expensive and the food was average. Will never go back no wonder the pub was empty. It was always a busy bar not now no atmosphere and expensive

After visiting the queen victoria with friends i can safely say i will never be returning. Rude and obnoxious staff and thats before the management. Visably saw staff drinking with customers at the designated "middle outdoor gathering for favoured customers" and in merry states until tides turn and then intoxicated verbally power trip turn to customers to leave.. made a complaint only to be brushed aside for a drink order being totally wrong. Decor has been done out lovely but sadly the employed staff have very less desirable attitudes.. it is clearly not a way to run a business.. drunk staff and clear clicky public favourites. Will never return better custom & atmosphere/management at the brandling just a stone throw away

We have always had decent food from the Queen Vic under the old landlord and chef. Everything was decent portions and excellent food. Went in to try the new Sunday Lunch menu The tomato soup was cooler than the bread - The bread was good to be honest and warm. The soup was home made and bland. The main course chicken was doused in gravy I guess to hide the burnt Yorkshire pudding. All in all disappointing

Spur of the moment visit for a catch up with friends. Food did not disappoint, staff were friendly snd welcoming. Will certainly be back

The on-line menu looked so good and I was really looking forward to it. When we arrived the menu on offer was not at all matching and didn't have on what I wanted. The place did not at all promise or match what the website advertised so unfortunately we left after a drink.

Nice food & busy "high-street" bar, prices above average but ok

Lovely Sunday lunch. We visited today as a group of 6, lots of space, clean and spacious. The menu choices were good, a couple of us had traditional Sunday lunch, others had burgers and lamb kofta, everyone was full afterwards, decent waiting time for food...

My friends had the 3 course meal each. Can honestly say everything was excellent. Chips were amazing and portion sizes were big. Thoroughly recommend this pub to everyone. Staff very friendly.

Hired the function room for a surprise 50th birthday party. Obviously with current government restrictions we were restricted to only 30 guests, 6 guests per table and to stay seated at all times. The venue was very Covid secure, e.g. hand sanitising stations, social distancing, regular surface and touchpoint cleaning, track and trace etc. The function room is beautifully decorated, so much so that you could get away with not having any additional decorations for a specific event. The decor and furnishings have obviously had a lot of care of thought put into them and all of the seats are so comfortable, making you feel right at home! We had a hot and cold buffet served at £10 per head. The staff asked us when we’d like the food to be served. The food had obviously been prepared and cooked fresh as it was absolutely delicious, and there was so much that even though everybody went back for seconds and thirds, we still took home six large trays of leftovers. I would definitely return here to have a proper meal. Our drinks could be ordered either using the W8R app or by placing an order with a member of staff. There was always a staff member around ready to take an order. Drinks were brought up efficiently and presented nicely, in fine glasses. The was hardly any waiting time for drinks despite the fact that the pub was busy! The staff were all so friendly and genuinely couldn’t do enough for us, always asking if everything was ok and if there was anything that they could do. They helped us to set up our decorations at the beginning and helped us to pack everything away at the end. They also ensured that we all had taxis before we left and allowed us to wait inside until they arrived. One member of the team, called Lauren, particularly stood out to us for her fantastic customer service and seemed to be a really lovely person. If I was to ever throw a party again I would not hesitate to book the Queen Vic’s function room as I could not fault the venue or the staff at all!

The service here is horrendous. Wait staff brush pass you being full aware you are in need of a drink or drinks cleared and don’t even flinch. A 2 hour slot with a maximum of 3 drinks because the service is so slow

Called in for a pint,great friendly welcome, good social distancing, nice pint and ordered a takeaway meal which was still red hot and absolutely delicious when I got home, 10/10

Visitamos este pub como parte del programa "salir a comer para ayudar". Entramos y esperamos a que nos sentaran. Finalmente, después de una breve espera y los arreglos habituales de reuniones informativas de COVID en el pub, nos llevaron arriba y nos llevaron a una hermosa mesa con vista al cruce de caminos en Gosforth. El ambiente era cálido y acogedor. Una dama encantadora nos sirvió casi de inmediato, pedimos nuestras dos pintas de Wainwrights, la única cerveza de barril que tenían, estaba muy bien cuidada y deliciosa. Pedí los langostinos y mi compañero pidió los anillos de calamar desmenuzado panko panko. Ambos estaban deliciosos. Los langostinos no estaban particularmente picantes (aunque se suponía que eran con guindilla), un poco de salsa se había asentado en el fondo, pero como entrante era una porción hermosa con dos buenos triángulos de chapata tostada. Mi compañero recibió tres anillos de calamar, que pensé que parecían malos, incluso como entrante, pero se declaró muy complacido. El calamar era firme sin ser gomoso ni blando y estaba delicioso. Para platos principales pedí la hamburguesa "QV Royale" con ensalada QV y batatas fritas (14). Mi compañero pidió la "hamburguesa What the Cluck" (pollo). El camarero le preguntó si quería patatas fritas, cáscaras de patata o batatas fritas; eligió las patatas fritas, sin darse cuenta de que, sin saberlo, había incurrido en un recargo de 2 por hacerlo. También ordené las papas fritas con la misma oferta que me hicieron. Sin recargo. Normalmente no pedimos hamburguesas, pero no es un menú extenso y otras reseñas calificaron las hamburguesas. La mía venía con una buena porción de micro chips de camote, la olla más pequeña de ensalada de col y una hamburguesa de dos hamburguesas con queso derretido y cubierta con un huevo frito sólido. Las empanadas eran muy carnosas y gruesas y se habían cocinado bien hechas (el servidor no había hecho ninguna solicitud sobre cómo se deseaban). Nos acomodamos para tomar una segunda pinta y mi compañero pidió el pudín de caramelo pegajoso, que venía como un pudín individual, con muy buen sabor a dátiles, con una bola de helado de vainilla. Delicioso, y de los platos que pasan, popular.Críticas constructivas: siempre deben recordar a los clientes que las batatas fritas son un complemento y no presentarlas verbalmente como una opción inclusiva. La porción de ensalada casera necesita cuadruplicarse en tamaño. Creo que un cuarto anillo de calamar se vería menos escaso. La salsa para las gambas debe quedar más pegajosa para que se adhiera realmente a las gambas. Encontré que los meseros, a veces, hablaban bastante bajo, algo difícil de discernir en contra del ruido de fondo del pub. De lo contrario, esta fue una comida de pub por excelencia.La última vez que entré a estas instalaciones fue hace 30 años y descubrí que entonces era un lugar frecuentado por los delincuentes locales. Esta es la primera vez que vuelvo desde entonces, ¡y qué transformación! Sin duda volveremos. La decoración es un poco extraña, pero ¡qué ubicación!

Had the best night for my 18th Birthday! The room upstairs was transformed to suit the large number of people with tables being rearranged to form a large dance floor. The buffet provided was delicious along with the fabulous service provided by the staff enhancing the lovely atmosphere. Can't recommend this place enough!

Popped in to meet a friend for a quick bite.... staff were quick to serve and very friendly, I tried a pint of Duchers which was very good and had a good bit crack with the barman while I waited. The place has recently undergone a full refurbishment and really looks great for it, seats at the bar or booths were both very comfortable. When my friend arrived we decided to get something to eat, I went for the classic burger which was so good I forgot to take a photo. The menu had a wide range to choose croon with sharing plates too, would highly recommend whether going for a pint or food

My wife and I had a valentines meal and thoroughly enjoyed our evening. The food was really good and reasonably priced. The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. Will definitely be going back.

Haven’t eaten here yet but this is one of the nicest bars on the high street now since it’s refurb. The upstairs dining area looks lovely and the Sunday dinners being served to people looked delicious . Nice decor and good atmosphere -often busy -worth remembering you can reserve a table

My Wife and I paid this place a visit yesterday to see what it was like after the revamp.As soon as we walked in you were hit with a sewer type smell exactly the same as the one that has plagued the Gosforth over the road for years.There wasn't what you could call a fun atmosphere either, we couldn't wait to finish our drinks and get out.By contrast, the other bars on the High St were a lot livelier.

Only customers having breakfast, 2 poached eggs on toast and it took forever. Smell of toilets too. We've been for evening meal twice before and OK but service too slow. 20 min and stillwaiting

Amazing food and drink at affordable and reasonable prices. Lovely atmosphere, myself and my boyfriend were looked after throughout by a little red head named Kerry who seemingly went above and beyond for every customer. Would happily and highly recommend this warm and friendly bar to anyone ❤️

Fantastic staff, 5 star customer service, and happy smiley bar staff, had fish and chips which was gobsmackingly gorgeous.. good value for money, great vibe, fab refurb and can’t wait to go again.. it’s nice to spend your money somewhere that you feel welcome and very comfortable

Visited here last week with me lad and it was such a nice place, Kerry’s customer service to me and my boyfriend was second to non so helpful and polite. Defo will be letting mates know about the place and will be a returning customer.

A massive and expensive refurb.

We visited the Queen Vic on a recent visit to Gosforth. We hadn’t been since it had been refurbed. We were impressed by the decor and the upstairs dining area. Drink prices were reasonable and staff seemed happy enough.

We went here for a meal for my birthday. No atmosphere when we walked in. 2 waitresses at top of the stairs didn’t try and communicate with us. The look was enough to put you off. My husband went to the hatch when another waitress acknowledged him. She then replied we are closed due to cleaning after a busy Christmas. This was the 5th jan.

Went in after reading so many positives and heard it was like a bar in Shoreditch. After they called last orders at 10.50pm the staff almost pushed us out the door. The staff didn’t speak when I spoke to an older older lady and we felt like we were not welcome. Disappointed to say the least.

After not being home for a long time, we decided to visit the new queen vic... Fantastic!! can't fault it, the decor, the team or food! Thanks again for a great night!

My husband and I visited here with our one year old daughter for Sunday lunch and it was lovely. Our daughters food came out first and she thoroughly enjoyed it and it meant we could eat in peace. We both had beef Sunday lunch and the beef was beautiful, so tender. There was plenty of food and we left very full and happy. The service was brilliant with the staff taking time to come and check in with us and see if we needed anything. The decor of the place is gorgeous too and we can’t wait to come back!

Visited with two girl friends recently who I’m sure would agree with me when I say what a LOVELY refurb. Attentive staff, special mention to Kerry who went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed our choice in wine. The layout is fab, we went for a table upstairs and the atmosphere was great. Me and my fiancée popped in for a drink or two and ended up staying for food. The staff were very happy and helpful. The food was beautiful especially the burger I had. We will defiantly be going again for a night and will also be trying the breakfast.

This place is not the "go to" pub for in Gosforth. The staff here are a cut above everywhere else and really do make you feel at home, a proper public house ! Friendly, attentive, and they cannot do enought to make you and your dog(s) feel welcome. Some places pretend they are dog friendly, this one really is. The food is great, i've had a breakfast here, which was excellent, and tonigh't fish n chips was very very good. 10/10. Love it.
