The pub provides good quality meals, the outside seating area is pleasant, with a large koi carp pond.

Chips were awful really. Cooked so dark they look like they’d been fried in crude oil. Staff were very good though.

As a tourist to the UK, I wanted to try out the Sunday Roast and this place came recommended by friends. The beef roast was amazing, portion size was great and the dessert (toffee cake with ice cream) was delicious. Highly recommend for the Sunday roast. Make sure you have a reservation for Sundays.

Had our Christmas lunch there today. 8 adults & 2 kids. Food really tastey and plentiful. Also, a really nice touch of little favours of sweets for each person, name cards with each person's name on one side and there order on the other. The kids also got really nice gift bags. Staff were brilliant, nothing was a problem, helpful and friendly. Thank you all for being part of our Christmas Day. X

We are fussy and wondered what the roast dinner would be like for £12.50! Well, it was really really good! Plenty meat, all very cooked really well and amazing Yorkshire pudding, they even did a gluten free one. We visited on Christmas Eve and the staff were really nice. Very happy and we will return.

Visited at 4.30pm yesterday to have the two-course Christmas menu. Sadly the service was so slow that after an hour and a half, having had the first course and drinks, we had to leave as we were travelling into town. The server was apologetic and only charged us for one course, but it was disappointing not to have the full meal. That being said, the main course was plentiful and delicious.

Been here a couple times and it's usually okay. It's always been a bit hit and miss. As it struggles with consistency. I got the BBQ parmo, dirty oil used for the chips (not the first time I've raised this complaint) so they were greasy and black but raw in the middle. Coleslaw had a skin on the top and discoloured so I left it. Tonight is probably the last time I'll come back. It isn't worth the money - service is good but the food really lets it down.

The food here is lovely. A little spicy for the Korean belly for starters. The main-The Kentucky Job- was also great and deserts were festive. Really enjoyed and would recommend.

Best Sunday lunch in the North East. Beef melts in your mouth, the best cauliflower cheese and fairly priced. They are always running late for their bookings but not an issue for me as well worth the wait.

Visited today for a late lunch , place was rammed full . svc staff very pleasant and efficient , the food today was not as good as I have had there in past , the cauliflower cheese was a little on hard side and it did not look home cooked , the ginger sponge and custard was a bit hard and stodgy , shame really because normally it’s good . Let’s hope the Xmas takeaway dinners are better when it arrives . I would still revisit for food again , poss just a busy day but really should be good all the time

Best Sunday roast I have ever had loved it

Came here with my mam for Sunday dinner & loved it. Staff were lovely & food was great. Puddings were beautiful both homemade. Would recommend.

Good and bad, Came for husband’s birthday and mains were really good everyone enjoyed. Bad,Pavlova frozen, no raspberries or fresh cream just squirts cream on the side. Not how you would expect a Pavlova to be made. Disappointed Have visited many times ,like the new refurb especially the new chairs which you don’t sink into and staff very nice.

Nice good sized pub with a lovely dining area. Food is very good. Service very nice and helpful, the staff were on hand when need and not coming over every 5 mins asking about how your meal is etc . Been here twice now as my brother now lives close by and will come again.

Great service and the steak pie is award winning for a reason. Cannot wait to try the Sunday lunch. Very happy with our experience. Update. Had the steak and ale pie again, and I am convinced it’s the best steak and ale pie I have ever had: phenomenal with that mash and gravy. I only wish they had given me a nice slice of bread to mop up all the gravy. Il be back!

drove 35 minutes after hearing great reviews, upon entering we were not greeted at all, once the table was ready we were shouted at to be seated to a table that was not set nor clean fully & we were not informed of items that were no longer available on the menu. food orders went in and we didnt wait long for our starters which were nice, no check to see if everything was ok. Server come to clear our plates and asked “was that your starter” then proceeded to drop the cutlery all over my partner with no apology. Mains come and again no complaints over the food but no check to see if everything was ok at any point. Server cleared our mains and asked if we would like a desert so we asked for a menu, server dumped the menu on the table, didnt make us aware of any specials at all. Once deserts were done i asked for the bill from one server, waited 10 minutes it did not come so asked another server for the bill, she brought it and dumped it on our table, nobody come back to ask how we would like to pay so i got up and paid at the bar before leaving, woman behind the bar was very rude, didnt ask once if our meal was ok or nothing was more interested in other things. Overall service has severely let this place down today, almost all servers walking round chewing gum and honestly looking very dull, uninterested and like they were slaves being forced to work. If thats the morale your staff have got god help the longevity of the place

Went with my family yesterday our table was reserved for 430 unfortunately it wasn't ready for over 20 mins but my family were prepared to wait n have a drink in the bar some of my family got a free drink n two lovely waitresses were very apologetic n told us that due to the issue the bill was reduced by 20pc which was very kind the food was beautiful dinners and sweets the service excellent so thank you we will definitely be back

The mince and dumplings was the worst I’ve had, sadly there was such a lack of flavour it might as well have been brown dish water with clumps of mince. severe lack of gravy also and the ‘leek’ dumplings were small dry hard bricks. Half the chips were decent other half needed longer. Partner really enjoyed his cheese steak sandwich and fries (even if it was a small portion) long wait for food and was told when food arrived it was going to take 5-10 minutes for a portion of peppercorn sauce. Place has little ventilation so like a Furness on hot days and staff are hard to catch and seem to be running round like headless chickens when it gets busy

This was our first visit here. I had the roast belly pork and for my other half she opted for roast beef. Both meats just melted in the mouth, the roasties cooked in beef dripping were out of this world. The staff were friendly and helpful, we highly recommend going for a visit but book first as it's popular. We will be back.

The childs cheese burger was burnt. The manager was very rude about it. She didnt offer him any other food but charged for a burnt burger that was returned. When i asked if she had charged for the burnt burger i was reffered to as stupid i have visited before on a sunday and recieved friendly service however this time a manager i have never met before clearly has a problem with me and my mixed race six year old child. This is not the place for mixed race children the manager clearly does not care what food they are served. Very upsetting previous visits were not like this. The new manager clearly has a different political agenda.

Went for Sunday lunch. Hassled off the table whilst still having a drink after an hour even though we had a table booked for 2pm and our table wasn't ready as there were customers still seated on it . They are obviously overbooking, so although the meal was nice, I wasn't impressed with the staff hassling us to leave the table so they could seat more customers. Come on guys be a bit more fair. It's not all about making money.

Lovely food set in lovely surroundings. The only issue that I had was when our food came we were not offered any sauces which we had to ask for.

The food is top notch. Absolutely delicious. Not one of the nine of us could fault it. Good portion sizes and the price wasn’t bad either. The beer tastes as clean and crisp as you’d expect a nice cold beer to be. The staff were very patient and polite. There’s a smoking area outside a few steps away from a stunning Koi carp lake with some big expensive fish swimming around. Been here a few times now and it’s always the same, ten out of ten.

Like sitting in an all inclusive hotel restaurant. Noisy, kids shouting, no background music and very average food… charging 50p for more gravy is a joke..

I had a lovely prawn an chorizo hanging scwer and fabulous cheese cake for pudding. Staff were amazing and the restaurant is clean and bright. Thank you

Came for Sunday lunch with the family. Table booked for 2.30 and got seated early. And that’s where the positivity ends unfortunately. Waited an age for our starters. Sadly the £9 Prawn Cocktail was terrible. Very few prawns beefed up with the whole root and stem of the lettuce. This was sent back. Then another wait for ages for the mains. Out they came, one of our party ordered the sirloin served pink. Well, when it came it was pink alright, in fact it was raw. Cold, lots of white fat and no evidence that it had even seen the oven. Awful. That was sent back. We got the bill, it was wrong. Still being charged for an elusive cauliflower cheese and the Sirloin. Got corrected, so asked if we could use Amex. The girl said no. However we had previously bought around of drinks in the bar and used Amex. We made a complaint which was in fairness handled ok. Overall not a pleasant experience. The staff need some customer service training it was just chaos. The dining room so loud like a work canteen. We won’t be back it’s a shame, we used to had a great time there before.

Fantastic Goat cheese pizza with a side of potato skins. Great drinks, too. Italian lemon meringue dessert was to die for! 🤗. Wonderful staff. Highly recommend. 👍

Excellent service and very good food.

We came here last Saturday for a private function in the bar & I couldn’t fault it at all, we went for the hot buffet which was excellent, a lot of choice and everyone enjoyed it. Staff were brilliant and happy with all my requests, there was 2 vegans and they made them a seperate menu with plenty of choice. Have been here before for food and would definitely use again for a private function

Decided to pop in for pub lunch and ordered piri piri chicken flatbreads with chips from the light bites menu. Had hoped the chicken would be cooked more in traditional piri-piri marinade but it was plain cooked chicken swimming in quite an overpowering sauce. The chips were nice.

Booked a table for 10 for the family to celebrate my Mothers 80th birthday and we loved the occasion here. Booked up only a week in advance and we were positioned next to the window in a lovely light and airy room. Orders taken for drinks, starters and main course. The food was great from a very extensive menu, which meant everyone, even the vegetarian amongst us was happy and all served together which some places find hard to do when hosting larger parties. The staff had looked after the surprise cake that we had brought with us earlier and brought it out after our meal to a very emotional mother and grandma. Just wanted to say thank you to all the wonderful staff, who made it so special for us. You were exceptional and we fully appreciate it. I confess to forgetting to leave a tip, so will make amends very soon.

First visit today, and enjoyed a great vegetarian breakfast. Excellent service, too, and decent prices. Will definitely be coming back soon!

Wow one of the best Sunday lunches I’ve ever had! Staff were absolutely amazing too so friendly and helpful, even though they were so busy nothing was ever a bother! Came with a lady who had coeliac and throughly explained everything.

This place has came on leaps and bounds since I last went. Disappointing to see some bad reviews recently as I just don’t agree with it! I’ve been in so many times recently and the staff have been impeccable. Food is insane for a pub. Keep going team. You’re smashing it.

Having visited the Swan for Sunday lunch i have nothing but praise. It was very busy when we arrived but it wasnt long before we were sat at our table. Staff were friendly and explained my gluten free options. Food was amazing and full of flavour. Will definitely be back!

Did not enjoy anything regarding our experience of the pub dark no atmosphere staff showed no interest waitress asked if wanted any pudding unaware it was a two course menu never checked if we ok pork lunch no sauces offered no stuffing veg bland 1 of us didn't get rosties as we only wanted small meals we were charged full price I would not recommend to anyone or price difference is not enough

I used to really rate this place but we’ve recently had a disappointing experience and unfortunately won’t be back. The place is very chaotic and the tables are packed in, you can barely move in your seat. The staff don’t smile or make eye contact, at all. Nobody greeted us for about 10 minutes when we first walked in, and we had to wait for a booked table. The Sunday roasts are good, although not as good as previously. Carrots were weird and hairy and the sirloin was very fatty. Great gravy and Yorkshire puds but the desserts are terrible.

Food was absolutely delicious we all loved our Sunday dinners and the service was great the only issue we had was the seats were extremely uncomfortable and the table was too low for some of us to sit comfortably but otherwise it was excellent

Came here for Sunday dinner at the weekend. The food was really nice and the service quick and friendly. The pub itself was extremely loud and there were lots of kids screaming to the point where we couldn't hear the other end of our table talk. Maybe we timed it badly. In summary, Sunday dinner lovely, noise annoying!

After visiting nearby garden centre we popped along to the White Swan at Dinnington for Sunday lunch . After being welcomed by very polite staff and seated we found the menu had a good selection of meats but also a varied menu if you didn’t want traditional Sunday lunch . The dessert menu also had a wide selection of delicious mouth watering treats . Can’t wait to return on Mothers Day .

One Sunday we desided to book meal at the Swan, we got an time 2.30 but did not get seated until 15 min later I ordered lamb when it arrived first thing it was off pitting was the lamb looked like door wedge it was York pudding and gravey and what apeard to be soggy roast spud I think the chef was from soup kitchen the the lamb was dry and lacked flavor I been better road side cafe the manager and staff lack control as every body was just running around with no sense of purpose the place looks like a converted house with extention I could not recommend anyone to this place when you pay for food you expect something you can eat I was going to speak to the manager about this but she was to busy changing to one of the staff this I find off putting

We had a family get together 10 of us. We had a lovely time and food was very tasty

Mince and dumplings was cold and carrots looked like they were from yesterday and just put on a grill or something. Expensive for what it was even if it had been hot. Jam sponge pudding was really dry and no sign of jam in it. We had some raspberry sauce drizzle over the custard. This was also disappointing for £6.50. It’s a while since I’ve e been and I thought it would be a nice change. Wish I’d read the latest reviews!! Perhaps it’s changed hands, who knows but it was so poor we’ll not be back. It was just over £48 including a drink which I’ll add a comment about. My friend’s latte was so hot she nearly burnt herself. Now if that was to make up for the compliment about the lukewarm mince and dumplings then REALLY!

Lovely food really enjoyed my Sunday roast. (Good veggie options too). Very efficient service however one lady was slightly rude who seated us. Looked at me and my family as if seating us at our (prebooked) table was an inconvenience and barely took us to the table before rushing off leaving us stood there a little confused and when we double checked where we were seated she was sharp with us. I saw she did a similar thing with a family who were waiting after us (talking to them in an angry and impatient tone). Service was very efficient however barely had 7 seconds before asked to order drinks, think maybe it was a rush to get one in one out (understandable but would’ve been nice to have felt a little more relaxed, but again understandable). Food was absolutely amazing can’t criticise it. Great portions and a good tasty nut roast which can be hard to come by. Nice atmosphere. Just slightly unprofessional service (one of the waiters made a dig at another waiter whilst serving us). Will be back though for the yummy food:)

Booked an early time, food was delicious, i had Korean Belly Pork for starter amd my partner fried goats cheese ,well presented, good value for money. Started getting busier when we were onto our mains. Plenty of seats and a lovely entrance with seating area for the warmer nights. Will be back again

Arrived for my husband's 70th birthday lunch with 2 great friends. Our starters very nice, main course friends had scampi with chips and bites and chips. Husband had mince and leek dumplings - must have been nice as none left on plate! My gammon was a bit tough but with 2 eggs, chips and garden peas served me well... Waitress a lovely polite girl, if all like her they'll not do bad.

Food was average. Service was quick but no personal service, staff seemed run off their feet and drinks plonked down on table and waitress almost ran off. Owners need to employ more staff. Internally poor - it reminded me of a school canteen.

Really great food here and decent service. Plenty of choice on the menu for everyone. Burgers here are really good, definitely a cut above what you'd get at a chain.

We went for a 6-30 dinner and we were late. The staff were incredible and said t was not a problem. The waiter answered all our questions and was so polite. Food was incredible, and there is such a wide choice. I would recommend the food Belly pork to start. It is the best I have had in 20 years. Feather blade beef was so tender and the puddings were excellent. The Rib eye was cooked to perfection. Thank you The White Swan. I will be back.

Unreal food and amazing service from the young man with the beard. Been twice in one week will be visiting again.

The white Swan came highly recommended by a friend, we have now been several times, I would definitely recommend that you book a table on the weekends but not so much through the week unless there is a few of you. The staff are so friendly and helpful. The menu is excellent, such a choice. All the food is homemade so if you need to change anything you just have to ask the staff and they will oblige. The restaurant is beautifully presented and always very clean. Can't wait to go back when the weather gets better as it has a lovely outside space with the best pond.

Food was great as was the service.

The first time we’ve been. The staff are young and seemed a little under pressure with the amount of preppie that were arriving. My husband ordered a pint of real ale and a bottle of wine. A bottle of brown arrived and one glass for the wine. A pint is a pint not a bottle! We had to ask 3 times for another wine glass. The food was lovely and we will be back. Every table was busy. You must be doing something right.

Come here at least twice a year on weekend breaks passing through and the food and service is always excellent

Sad to say. Been so many times and never had a bad meal. Today it was busy. The chips were hard and tasteless. Scampi over cooked also. Staff were rushed off their feet. Plates were kind of thrown on the table. Forgot condiments and we were never asked if eveything was all right. Whilst paying I did comment the food was just okay today. I got a look, never asked why? The only nice thing was the coleslaw... Wont be returning. Very dissapointed..
