Comfortable place to stay while walking Hadrian’s Wall. The breakfast was tasty. The rooms are comfortable if a little dated. Someone told me it looked like a hostel.

Location is great, and staff was really helpful (hence the 2 stars review) but the state of the room was just unacceptable. Firts of all, the room smells like death, like it has been closed up for months. Secondly, for some reason the room is just full of wasps. I've taken out like five already, and they keep appearing from somewhere. Third and lastly, the room does not feel completely clean. There was even hair on the bed from what seems to be the previous user. Not recommended at all!

Excellent choice of own brewed ales from the onsite micro brewery. The Keelman has a range of beer styles rather than usual all 'golden' beers that most pubs have these days. Recommend Keelman Brown, strong brown ale that doesn't disappoint

Since I was booked into Keelman's Lodge for the night, there was no need to look further for an evening meal, and breakfast available the next morning. I don't know quite what I was expecting, but possibly something a little more 'pubby' than the conservatory dining area! Nevertheless, I chose a tasty Halloumi Burger to absorb the two excellent house beers; and breakfast the next morning - plus a pre-arranged packed lunch - saw me well set for what proved to be a longish walk on HWP Day 2.

I've stayed twice now, both times with my young son and we love it. The team are so welcoming to both me and him, they always have a chat with him about the football and he was delighted when they recognised him this time. He left a little disappointed that he didn't get to catch up with Kieron though 🤣🤣🤣! We will definitely stay again, and would definitely recommend to anyone with children looking for a quiet place to stay!

I really loved this place! It's a bit out of the way but that's fine because everything you need is on site. I stayed one night in the lodge which had a good sized room and all modern amenities, rooms are a good size, bed was comfy and shower was hot!! The pub was my favourite bit though! Great food, fantastic beer and a lovely friendly atmosphere! I stay away a lot for my work but this was genuinely a lovely place to spend my evening, it ticked every box and I can't recommend it highly enough.

I stayed here for one night during my hike of Hadrian's wall across the UK. The room accommodations were very good. Clean, well sized and quiet. I had fish and chips and ale for dinner which was very good. The free full British breakfast was very filling and powered me on my 12 mile hike to Wallsend that day. I didn't even have to stop for lunch. If you are in the area or walking the wall I highly recommend the Keelman.

We stayed up here recently as we were travelling up from down south for football. We were greeted by super-friendly bar staff who offered us a complimentary pint upon arrival. We headed off to our room shortly afterwards which was spotless and everything we needed and expected. Upon returning to the bar the day after with rather sore heads, we were then asked if we'd like something to eat - again, this was complementary. I couldn't recommend this place enough and we will be staying here again when we return to the area.

We visited in between Christmas and New Year and booked two rooms on our way up to Edinburgh. Check in was fine and the fellow who booked us in was great, tbe place also looked promising in the bar area, quirky and a good atmosphere. Unfortunately the rooms were dated but clean and comfortable enough. We headed over for food and drinks as we had booked a table for 6.30. Service was brusque. Considering this is a brewery ( the reason my brother booked it) we asked which beers they had and were told only one choice available, we ordered one pint for brother and the rest of us had wine or coke. The red was fine, white was terrible, the one beer was good. Food was average to poor and not really hot. Afterwards my brother ordered another beer but was told that was the last pint ( at a brewery?!) last orders were called at 8.45? It was just weird.

The location, look and atmosphere of the pub I could not fault. All members of staff encountered were very helpful, friendly and accommodating. Met friends for dinner whilst staying at The Keelman. Curry was good. Other three had gammon and chips etc, which they said was just 'OK'. I am a big fan of Sticky Toffee pud, but sadly it was very dry and hardly any sauce. Breakfast again was 'OK' but had better. Was not expecting to be asked to settle up and leave at 9pm though. Would have enjoyed another drink or two with our friends having come to meet us. The biggest let down sadly was our room. No 8 in the Salmon Lodge. Very dark due to the large trees outside blocking light, so you needed the room lights on all the time. Walls and ceilings were grubby with tired old paint, scratches, marks, plaster repairs that had not been rubbed down. Very old, tired carpet. Cobwebs. We found mould and damp around the windows which had gone on to the net curtains. And signs say do not open the windows! And doors had to be kept closed due to the sensitive smoke alarms. One of the bedside lamp shades was ripped and falling apart. However the bed was pretty comfy and the shower was hot and powerful. Glad it was only 1 night. I do appreciate that given the pandemic and current fuel/utility prices etc, costs to update rooms where needed must be tough. However, to encourage guest returns and recommendations, priority should be given to improving their standards as it was pretty poor for £73. At this time, I would recommend the pub only for drinks and the atmosphere.

No olives ect as described on the menu, in the evening we returned around 1030pm to a very smug bar man/boy whom could not serve us as he had taken the till off as they had been quiet however still had around 6-10 people sitting. Its clear the hotel and pub take social distancing and government advice seriously, with plenty of lovely outdoor seating, a marquee and a one-way system for ordering food and drink. The building is simply beautiful. Our room was quiet, with lovely garden views and spotlessly clean. We ate in the pub - a separate upstairs dining area was set aside for hotel guests- and the food was fresh and tasty. It did take a while to come but we were kept informed during to a staff shortage, and service for drinks was very attentive as we waited. We thoroughly enjoyed our food and sampling some of the brewery's dark beers. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again - great location and lovely stay. Thank you! 😁😁

I have been using this chip shop for over 15 years, Gosforth chip shop is the only one I will ever use. In this time I have only ever had one issue, it was handled with professionalism and rectified after all we are all human and make mistakes. I would like to commend all staff and delivery drivers on the the hard work and dedication you put in to the customer experience and beautifully cooked food. Kind regards Mr and Mrs Nellis

My daughter is reading law at Newcastle and being a second year is living in Jesmond, therefore I found a boutique hotel that would suit all my needs. Great bed, beautiful room and easy access to her house and the Dene. I wanted to relax and enjoy my time alone too whilst I was there. For runners there is no better hotel. Quiet, safe, stunning building and friendly staff. The bar and restaurant very ambient. I think I would never stay anywhere else again.
