My husband and I had our dinner here and thoroughly enjoyed the food. The service was excellent very friendly and efficient

Gorgeous roast on Sunday, lovely fluffy roast potatoes, all the veg was nice and the beef was beautiful, will definitely be back.

Dreadful breakfast. Luke warm food - bacon dried and crispy, fried egg had a hard yolk, potatoes/bacon was warm. Absolute waste of good money.

Great visit. Visited while on holiday in the area. Plenty of tables available although we did prebook. Served fairly quickly and not a big queue at the carvery. No pork available but all the other bears were. Plenty of the other bits, such as roasties, veg etc available. Staff were friendly and it looked to be a newish restaurant compared to my local one at home.

Not a full counter. Choice was negligable. Bacon was "bitty". Had to go find staff. No baked beans. No one on counter.

We come every weekend for breakfast, we love it I'm a vegi so I get sausages they are Allways quick and hot, foods not greedy and always fresh and the staff are spot on definitely the best place for a lovley breakfast at a good price 👌

Very poor experience. If we could give this 0 we would. Got to the Toby and stood waiting while numerous members of staff walked past. When someone did finally come over we were told all they had left was gammon? Why put bookings on for Sunday lunch if you don't cater enough? Not impressed so we left and went elsewhere. This isn't the first time we have had a poor experience here and won't be back!

Ages since our last visit to a Toby, and not much has changed in the meantime. Nice welcome, traditional menu. Plenty of customers walking back from servery with overflowing plates, and a number of plates having surplus food left after customers have left. Meat choices were good, as ever, veggies not so good, including toasties and peas, sadly. Nice desserts, especially ice creams, and chocolate pancakes. Ever popular however, with plenty of parking.

Quite good food and worth the price.

I do wonder why you don't have a DRESS CODE in your restaurant.. I was in this week to be passed by man dressed in only what looked like a pair of long leg underpants and no top. Surely you will agree that a Restaurant is not the place for (swimwear)...

Service so slow, really need more staff Food good but would like more options for gluten free.

Meal could have been hotter but other than that was pretty good. Prices have gone up, but that’s like everything else and can’t be avoided

Me and my friend went to toby carvery Shiremoor today for breakfast absolutely disgusting burnt bacon far too crispy couldn’t even cut it asked for more but still exactly the same friends egg was hard yolk and white the worst breakfast I’ve ever had and certainly won’t be back in a , staff nonchalant like they didn’t care didn’t even come over to see what I was talking about all I can say is disgusting 18.00 down the drain absolute waste of time

First time back at Toby since lockdown. What a transformation. Seating less conjested. Queue not too busy & definitely well organised. Food all hot & delicious. Staff friendly & helpful. Prices a little higher but not surprising. Very nice Sunday lunch I would recommend This was my review roughly 3 yrs ago. Have been fairly regular since then but yesterday the veg choice was miserable. Not a fan of red cabbage, tried it but no thanks. Carrots & peas ok. My daughter loves cauliflower cheese, sauce was fine but cauli obviously cooked seperately was hard & very wet so was left. The bill is now almost £40 for 2 of us. Gonna have to give it a miss from now on.

Food was ok but I got no custard with the pudding.

At what point does value crossover with quality? All in breakfast for the price is fantastic value, but the quality and breadth of the offering leaves room for improvement. If you know what to expect, this is a decent breakfast offering.

First visit as housesitting for friends in the area. About 4 cars in the car park led me to belive everything would be dried out under the heat lamps. Carver brought out a fresh leg of lamb and cut VERY generous slices so I was a happy bunny. Had a free soda thanks to the offer in my "wallet". Meal was great although the mash was a bit lumpy. Special thanks to Jennifer who looked after me and told me about free parking places in Cullercoats. Thanks Jen.

Huge amount of lovely food, good value, friendly delivery

Would rather not comment, certainly not 4 star ,not good.

All ok apart from the extortionate price of a glass of wine.

Shocking, food was Luke warm, could not cut bacon, beans stuck to pan, burnt hash browns, eggs rubber All in all a good health and safety audit needed to check temperature and hot holding of food, definitely not 65+. No one around to ask for fresh food, will not be recommending Shiremoor toby to anyone, in fact don't go is my advice, wouldn't feed to the pigs.

I have had many delicious meals at this Toby cavery with my family. The maple soaked pancakes on the breakfast menu are definitely a winner. Customer service is outstanding, the whole team is friendly and helpful, especially Katerina 😀 I look forward to our next visit!

Dined here the other day and had Kat as our server, was honestly the best service I have ever had at a toby carvery. Especially with my autistic sister who struggles with going out to eat. Couldn’t praise her more !!

Mash potato was disappointing otherwise it was fine

We went here a couple of weeks ago about 3 pm the staff were miserable .my partner was at the counter .heard the chef swear. Not good .then I saw a chef using he's hands to pick food up put it back in the dishes.no gloves on.went to pay the bill.we spoke to the lady in charge regarding what we were saw.she said she would have a word with the chefs.i said about the staff being miserable and all she could say we had a real busy Sunday and it has a knock on effect and staff have problems. I said you should leave your problems at.home not good enough I used to work in the catering trade would not have have that attitude as we were told the customer always right .then she started shaking and crying .we made the complaint in a good manner away from other customers. She said she was not charging us ..we will not be back

went on Tuesday 9th July had main meal two soda and limes (small) paid bill which was £21. Then I'm reading online price for over 60 reduced on weekdays.? Bareface robbery.

I have been to this place numerous times without any issues, but tonight was a completely different experience. Despite the busy atmosphere, we were seated promptly and instructed to serve ourselves when ready. However, the quality of the pork was disappointing, so I opted for the turkey, which was enjoyable. The beef, on the other hand, was mostly fat and gristle. As I moved down the line, there was a shortage of carrots and gravy. Although they were restocked, the increasing crowd made it difficult to access them. This was truly disappointing considering that this place is a family favorite. I am uncertain about returning. Nonetheless, the staff maintained their usual level of excellence.

Dirty tables everywhere, waited 20 mins for sausages, disappointed staff miserable, if you asked how long for eggs they said don't no they weren't cooking them . 🙄😒🤷‍♀️ sadly l will not be returning .

Order didn’t even come. Twice this has happened in the last two attempts I’ve made to order on this app. The last attempt was a McDonald’s and now this one is just a simple roast dinner that has been marked as delivered but that is not true, this has not came. Money has been taken from me but food has never arrived. Worst delivery service I’ve ever experienced

Karen and I were at our local Toby at Shiremoor on Friday, as I had a voucher to use. While we were eating Kat made sure everything was good for us. It was the first time that we were sitting in the area covered by Kat, so after clearing our plates, I asked for the bill. I was intrigued by her accent, so politely asked where she was from. May well be back there next week, as we both enjoy eating there.

honestly was my favourite place one point now think ill just avoid altogether. food wasn't as nice as it was half the options for the carvery are not available anymore and booking over 1 month in advance to have 2 tables next to each other to be separated on the day is just a joke when asking about it just met with attitude. just disappointing.

Food OK for a carvery though no buns so carvery sandwich served on 2 slices of cheap white bread that fell to bits. Some vegetables must have been out a while as they were overheated. Roast potatoes nice though and service really good. Don't think we will return

The food was as good, as always. The staff are so helpful and pleasant. Free car parking and close to a small shopping mall and Boundary Mills.

Our waitress Vikki was fantastic with the young children and interacting really well with them. She was extremely polite and promptly served our food. The carvery was good as always.

Staff were lovely,waitress moved us to sit by their heater as it was so cold. Turkey was good portion & beautifully cooked. 2 Yorkshire puddings & parsnips, couldnt be better!! Plenty more veg & potatoes to select plus all condiments in stock. Great experience thanks.

Food was quite nice but it's expensive, including for drinks. Staff were not particularly friendly on my visit either. Not rude or anything, just couldn't muster a smile like they hated their job. The building is like a Faraday box with WiFi that is bloody awful to register for.

Had lovely and professional service from Vicki, however, the man with the hearing aid at the counter was very rude to my partner, slamming plates and making loud excessive noises when he asked to upgrade his plate The card machine wasn’t working and we had to stick around for a few minutes afterwards and Vicki was very polite and extremely apologetic about it, dealing with the situation very professionally, brilliant service from her!!

Out of the few Toby's in the north east this is up there. I'd say 2nd best, to the original Toby of course. And that's coz I'm biased, I had my first pint in the Toby (kingston park) just love it, always been my local. But anyway, I digress. Shiremoor Toby is decent. Highly recommend it. Staff great, food has always been fresh when I've visited. And of course those massive Yorky's are on point 👌

Possibly the worst carvey I've had in recent memory. Left a good 60% after struggling to at least try everything. Beef was mostly gristle, mash overloaded with margarine, roasties soft, yorkshire pudding flat and undercooked. Not even qualified as cheap and cheerful as 2 meals, pudding and drinks still nearly 60 quid. Gave an extra star as the staff were friendly (although we were warned at reception that the menu was Sunday prices despite being bank holiday Monday because 'this company will charge as much as they can.) Avoid at all costs. Pay for a proper meal elsewhere.

The food was okay, although the beef was very fatty which was frustrating to have to remove from the plate. Only 2 meats (beef & gammon) to choose from at 7pm on a Monday as they weren't cooking any more. There were a few tables which came in after us and opted for the vegetarian option as there was no meat available then. The veg was very tasty. Seating felt very cramped, we were put on a table directly next to another table in use. When we asked the waitress we got the "no other tables are set" excuse, yet they filled up the area they had set up, I feel they could have expanded and alternated table settings to be more comfortable for the customers. It's not like the waiting staff need to be available for serving/drinks when it's all self-serve, so I fail to see this logic. Clearly bad timing on a Monday evening for this service, but it was a disappointing experience. Visited again and the server had a terrible attitude. Took over 20 mins to get refill drinks, and another 20 mins to get the bill before we left.

Like all the other carveries have to ask for more meat, good food but think knives could do with sharpening a little bit

Unfortunately this time wasn’t the best. The mash had lumps of semi cooked potato, the lamb was dry and chewy, the carrots were pretty raw, the gammon was quite fatty and my pint of Madri tasted like line cleaner. A little gutted

It was nice. Kids were well looked after, they didn't have carvery but didn't have to wait long. Stuffing was a bit undercooked in my opinion but still tasted good.

The yorshire puddings were flat & soggy as they were'nt cooked inside. I'd prefer smaller yorshire puddings or option of smaller ones, and better options of veg like turnip, parsnips or cabbage instead of the 3 options of potatoes & sweetcorn

Visited this particular Toby Carvery on several occasions when visiting the North East. Always found the staff to be extremely friendly/approachable but that's the norm up north anyways! They've always gone above and beyond when needed. The food is as you'd expect from a Toby. On the occasions that I've visited, the food always been tasty and always been hot which is a great sign. Out of the different branches I've been to, this one is by far my favourite in the NE. Would definitely recommend a visit. Strongly recommend that you book in advance to avoid disappointment or wait times!

I bought 2 large breakfasts £8 each, 2 sausage and egg sandwiches and 3 hash browns but 16 turned up. I must say the food was disgusting and cold. The Uber driver only came half a mile so that can’t be blamed. The sausages looked like they’d been cooked under a heated argument, the bacon was cremated and the rest of the food was literally inedible, so it went in the bin. My partner commented that the hash browns were like cardboard, they were grim. I thought I’d give this place another try after we had a lunch delivered last Sunday and the roast beef was as tough as Chuck Norris in his heyday and honestly I wish I didn’t. Never again.

We did not recieve the Childs Carvery asthe driver did not drop it off. Toby Carvery have told us the order consisted of 2 bags and we only recieved one! Please could you arrange for a refund for the childsmeal we did not recieve.

I asked for no crispy onions on both portions of mac n cheese. As I am allergic, yet the crispy onions were on the mac n cheese. Also my roast dinner did not have all the veg you would usually find at Toby carvery, it only had carrots and peas. I was very disappointed.

Delivery kept changing and ended up waiting over an hour. Requested hard yolk on my fried egg yet it was still runny. Also ordered 3 extras of hash browns which states that you get 3 hash browns yet I only got 6 when should of had 9. Bacon was rather greasy and a lot of fat, bacon was rather hard, sausage weren’t totally golden brown or crispy so weren’t sure if they were fully cooked. Toast I ordered stared it comes with jam yet only got butter. Tomatoes and beans were thing that tasted right.

First time I have ever been disappointed with the Toby carvery. The food was OK when it arrived although on the cool side. More importantly the meals arrived without any Yorkshire Puddings. A carvery without the Yorkshire Pudding is just blah. Ordered these meals as we were celebrating our 35th wedding anniversary and it might be a long time before I order again. In addition to the carvery I ordered two chocolate fudge cakes and custard, these were OK but did not make up for the disappointment.

When we arrived we waited about 5 mins as there were no visible staff on the floor. A lady came took us to across the restaurant, pointed to a table, turned and walked off. We took ourselves to get our Carvery which we ate. Was not impress with the veg, they seemed soft and dry. Not sure if this was just timing. At no point did any staff member come across to take a drink order or check if everything was OK. We paid and left, still not having been offered a drink.

When for there breakfast and it was very nice indeed. Everything was hot and fresh except when the ran out of breakfast yorkies but didn't detract from the rest of the food.

I informed just eats in my order delivery notes that i am disabled and that i would require the delivery driver to bring my order into my home for me,i left my front door ajar for the delivery driver, he/she just ignored me when he/she knocked on my door and i said " come in" he/she just left my order outside n my doorstep in the rain.That is very poor service.

The carvery is amazing and it caters for food intolerances.

We booked a table at Shiremoor. We have been a number of times at this Toby before. Today we were seated quickly. We were served quickly at the Carvery but the meat especially the Beef was not good, tough and tasteless. The Selection of veg was running out and they were not very prompt at replenishing the vegetables. The selection was poor. They took empty dishes away (i.e. onions) but they were not replaced. The vegetables were not cooked i.e. green beans raw and cauliflower cheese hard. I would not say that sweetcorn is a vegetable to go with a roast dinner.
