Toby Carvery in Newcastle upon Tyne

I stated I was gluten free and requested cauliflower without the cheese sauce but it arrived with it on my meal so I had to bin it all and couldn’t be sure they put the right gravy in as requested as they clearly didn’t read my order properly

such a shame the food was so disappointing. the pork was nice although small thin slice. beef fatty and unchewable. Now for the missing items. 2 gravy pots, pigs in blankets, cheesey mushroom as a starter, although the Garlic bread there served with arrived?!!? 3 deserts missing. phoned restaurant was told to expect a refund for missing items, still no response from the restaurant or just eats confirming any compensation. nearly 60 quid spent. not good value for money, poor quality.

Over an hour late and cold won’t be ordering again totally unacceptable

Food was nice but didn’t get much at all. Carrots peas and cauliflower were the only veg. Very very little meat. Last time we got a nice portion for the price. Was nice though and still hot.

You forgot my desert and the best part of the meal the gravy was spilled in the bag, I will accept at least half refund as the meal is ruined

Myself and my girlfriend went to this toby carvery place and staff very friendly and they asked us a simple question and we were fine with that, we got our food and nice and hot, staff asked if our food was okay and it was nice, the roast beef, turkey and pork was lovely and they had gammon, the roast potatoes of beef dipping was superb and would use this toby carvery again

I visited for the first time in a long time since moving from Kingston Park. The food was lovely and service was excellent. Grave was funny, friendly and professional.

Slow for starter, carvery good and sweet excellent. Service from Grace was excellent, served with a smile and very welcoming.

Chrismas day meal with family. It was very busy and hot but our server Grace didnt show any stress, she made our christmas day extra special.

What an absolute disgrace. Ordered a carvery with all the meat and stuffing. Received only chicken and no stuffinf. Ordered a meat free carvery too, with stuffing. It came with no stuffing and the meat free gravy wasnt labelled. Absolutely rank

used to be my favourite carvery, after last 2 visits i wouldn't be paid to eat there. Update..... tried again today, tight on the meat, 2 mega thin slices (turkey and beef). Yorkshire's looked like they were ripped out of the tin, and although i got the only one that resembled a one, it tasted burnt. I left over half my meal.

We enjoyed our meal only complaint was not enough meat on plate.

Well app is easy to use. Food was cold!. I dont expect to pay as much for cold food....not even warm . I used to love the Toby but am not paying again for cold food .

Was here In November, had carvery - eventually. Service was very slow, only 2 of us waiting. Food was cold, left half, only because I was hungry I ate some. Boy on servery was at a loss, so felt he couldn't do better if complained. Never eating there again. 2 stars for bar staff.

Love a Toby Carvery on a Sunday! We have the veggie square plate- great value for money and very tasty! The staff are friendly and helpful

I would of gave 5* due to the lad on the bar and our server sam... sam his service alone was higher than 5*s. The reason I've took 2*s off is when I went upto the carvery the male chef with a green hat on carving the meat (we were there saturday night) said to the female chef who as a female chef myself her uniform alone was abysmal! creased is a under statement and I work in a open kitchen! However he asked her if she had put any parsnips in and her response was a laughing erm nahhhhh. Then went to the gravy and condiments and the meat gravy was empty but said female chef came through with it and 1 of our party said all the sauces have gone and she didn't even acknowledge them, she put the gravy down and waltzed off. The other star ive took off is cause we paid the £5pp deposit but 2 of our party didn't show up and the manager wasn't helpful with the bill so some of us ended up paying more for what we actually ate. The £10 that was there cause of 2 not showing we wanted to leave as a tip to sam as none of us brought cash (if there's any chance I could atleast buy sam a drink over the phone I will) but oh noooo the £60 deposit was deducted from the bill then the bill was divided by 10. If a itemised bill is generated then surely we could of all payed for what we ate minus a 5er. If this cant be done I will change it to 4* and maybe the company should look into it. Sam needs a payrise or maybe employee of month he honestly made our night and all 10 of us left not happy that none of us had a penny on us

We had an excellent time at this Toby Carvery, all the staff were brilliant but our server Gracie was exceptional. The food was lovely and overall the experience was something to be remembered. I would heavily recommend coming here if you are anywhere in the area 😁

A young lad named Chris was our waiter, to our group or 10, he was very sweet. Had Patience of a saint with us women! To have only been here for 4 months, well, he is wonderful with his customer service skills, very polite, helpful and efficient. Good luck to your with your college journey sam. Pleasure to meet you. Thankyou for a wonderful service. He even helped take our photo.

Great breakfast, good choice and quality of food. Best place I have been for help yourself as much as you can eat breakfast and toast multiple cups of tea.

The carvery was very tasty me and my partner was very happy with the food and the service. Alot better than our usual toby carvery that we go to and will be using this one from now on

Absolutely shocking! stone cold, tiny portion for the price, no stuffing and half a tub of gravy! will not order again really disappointed.

Missing one item on both meals. That was the stuffing. As the cartons on both the mail meals and gravy said do not reheat, we didn’t. So it was nearly cold. Cold roast potatoes are not nice. I did heat puddings as I don’t think they were hot to begin with. Another thing on the site that would be helpful is a choice of available vegetables. Peas carrots and cauliflower is a bit bland. As the Toby is only a ten minute walk from my house, you can’t blame the courier. It was waiting too long.

Terrible service, had to keep asking for a high chair and the restaurant wasn't busy. The waitress got the drinks order wrong and when I asked for a replacement drink the waitress screamed at me on front of everyone and accused me of being rude, lovely! Food was poor quality, kids chicken nuggets were appaling. Won't be back here ever again

Food is never hot enough, including the gravy. I had a vegetarian option, pastry was hard and heavy. It was nice when I had it before.

The amount of meat you were given was minuscule and we don’t pile our plates up! The food was cold s and most of the potatoes were inedible. An awful experience.

Good staff, good service, carvery was amazing although I wish I got a bit more meat. Beef that I asked for was fresh. I had to wait but the chef asked me if I was willing to wait whilst he got a flash joint, which I was more than happy to do. Drinks are on the expensive side but which pub isn't expensive nowadays? My daughter ordered a chicken nugget meal and surprisingly, it did not come with chips or fries, just mash or roast potatoes, which I feel is taken from their carvery. We popped in on a Friday during the kid's HT and could not get seated in the restaurant. We had to sit in the bar area, which has plenty of space but you have to pay for your food in advance. So, bear that in mind although there is plenty of seating in the "bar" area.

Good place for family meal. Decent price and quality. Areas are quite dark however.

We usually go to the Toby in Washington and never have a complaint about the food or service. First visit here today. I've no complaints about the food as you know what you're getting at a Toby. The staff however just didn't seem as if they could be bothered. We waited to be seated and a girl behind the bar reluctantly came out and took us to a table. She did take our drink order then quite rudely told us " If you have any other questions ask Becky" We hadn't asked her any questions at all! There was zero interaction by the staff with us. Not asked if we needed any more drinks or offered the dessert menu and when we managed to get someone's attention for the bill it was just slapped on the table in front of us. Again no interaction from the staff. When I asked about the kids eat for a £1 deal the lady just shrugged and said she didn't have a clue as they aren't told anything. No offer by her to find out! Underwhelming visit

I've been for a sunday lunch today and what a disappointment the food was. The beef was so fatty and tough to even cut turkey looked like it had been there for days so avoided that completely lamb was okay

It was a quiet morning but the food was good quality for the price. Could maybe do better coffee.. :P

Extremely busy the service rate is all for the lady who serviced the table she was lovely. However when my meat was carved the plate was almost thrown at me and I nearly dropped it. Although this wasn’t really acceptable put down to being so busy and rushing moved I. To the veg etc and the Yorkshire’s where like pancakes had obviously been take. Out of oven a little bit early and when they are all piled on top of each other had flattened the ones on bottom. Then no mash. The lady next to me voiced her opinion by saying that this was terrible and the attitude from the female carving the meat was appalling. She asked her why the lady asked if she called these Yorkshire's and then mentioned no mash the female then said we have a machine down we are not robots what do you want us to do mash by hand. I wanted to join in and say well yes it is what is expected and I have never had a Toby meal without the mash. I thought better of it as I did not want her aggressive reply to me. It was the attitude I found very disturbing completely put me off my food. So disappointed have had many a meal hear have used this restaurant since before we had family which the eldest is now 24. Not sure if I will return.

Fab amounts of food and good quality. Good for breakfast and for carvery.

The carvery was excellent as was the service. However when we received the bill I was not allowed to use my groupon voucher as I was told it didn't start until 9th October. I had contacted groupon and was told I should of been able to use it. I do think this was unacceptable, what would of happened if I did not have any other means of payment. I have visited Toby on numerous occasions and have had no problems, however now I will think twice now before going back.

Been here a couple of times and it's always hit n mis , some of the food is fresh & hot the other isn't, staff pleasant and helpful but there's always a mistake wether it's the order or overcharged, would I go back ......... no sorry I wouldn't.

Came with my elderly aunt on the way to cataract surgery. Really friendly helpful team. Without doubt the best carvery I’ve ever had. Beautiful tender meat and plenty of it. Really tasty fresh sides. Excellent value won’t hesitate to come again.

Absolutely shocking. Kingston park Toby carvery has been our go to place for a long time now. Shame to see how poor the food has got everything dry or over cooked. Beef very chewy. Wouldn’t recommend. Finished our meal before we were asked how the food was. Terrible

Todo estaba bien. La carne (cerdo para mí, cordero para mamá) estaba bien. Las verduras tibias estaban bien. ¿El pudín del hombre de Yorkshire? Bien. ¿La salsa? Sí, estuvo bien. El relleno también estaba bien. ¿El costo? Sí hombre, eso estuvo bien. El personal era amable.

Got a take out. £13 plus for a take out dinner because it's Sunday. Veg wasn't that hot and we don't live far. Won't be going back. Haven't been for a while,now I know why. Staff were very nice though especially guy behind cavery.

The food was disgusting. I usually enjoy Toby but this meal was absolutely vile. The beef was slimey, full of veins and fat. The roast potatoes Im sure hadnt been roasted at all, they were really hard like theyd just been peeled and put onto the plate. Carrots were overly soggy, peas felt stale and gravy was like water with no flavour at all. The pigs in blankets were fine as were the yorkshire but everyone else was absolutely rotten and unfortunately has put me off the Toby from now on

I have never ever made a complaint about a Toby but this was a really really disappointing experience. There was no Lamb to start with on a Sunday. The beef was tough, the pork was served with lots of fat. The sausages were rock hard and the Yorkshire pudding were well under cooked. We love Toby Carvery and have given to many 5 stars to mention. To give a 1 for food really makes me sad. The waitresses were excellent. I felt sorry for them that I had to complain but our experience was so bad it could not be left without making a complaint.

We went for breakfast and loved it. Friendly staff, the food was fresh and the place was clean.

We should of walked out straight away, we were kept waiting to be seated for10mins while the place was empty staff saw us but choose to ignore that we were there, no one came for a drinks order for ages so we decided to just go for the carvery to which there was no gravy so again another length of time wasted while our food was getting cold, no one asked if we were OK and we also had to get our own cutlery, napkins from the station, the only thing that was good about the restaurant was the chef was lovely to my grandsons.

Had a Toby on Friday evening from Metrocentre- great. This meal tonight from Kenton Bar was very poor indeed. Pork overcooked and dried out, roast potatoes undercooked and hard. Mash very lumpy, glutinous, peas like bullets. Mash and stuffing terribly salty. Partner’s broccoli and Brie parcel was huge because of all the pastry (virtually burnt) but only about one level dessert spoon of filling-terrible. Toby altered the ETA from first estimate - late. Uneaten meal is now in bin. Never again.
