The Brandling Arms in Newcastle upon Tyne

After I finished with the Post Office on Salters Road I popped into the beer garden for a refreshing cider on such a lovely sunny day; while waiting for my bus home to the West End. There was a fair amount of people outside but a good few tables free to choose from. Anyhow, ordered a few light bites which came quickly and were absolutely lovely - olives, calamari & king prawns. I do feel that the prices are a bit steep but it was a treat so I didn't mind, especially as the food was good. Being on my own, I like a venue where I can find a table and order from there so that's always a bonus for me, and the service was super quick both in bringing my drink then the food. The one little thing that I'd have to say wasn't good was not being offered any water for my dog. I'm new to the pub so I'm not familiar with what they do but it seems silly being able to order at the table then have to go inside in search of water for the dog. Plus being on my own, I try not to leave her or my bags unattended. Nevermind, she managed to stay hydrated with some ice cubes from my drink. All in all a pleasant experience on a lovely sunny afternoon 🌞😎😁

Really nice place, nicely decorated with a good vibe, a bit up market than a standard pub. Decent selection of beers and spirits, nice choice of bar snacks and good varied menu.

Gorgeous pub, only had a few drinks but the atmosphere was lovely. We also had a bowl of mixed nuts they were absolutely delicious.

It was a pleasure to be served by a very polite , professional young man . I was with friends and ordered fish and chips. Please send my appreciation and compliments to the chef for a lovely hot , tasty meal. The experience was lovely. I only wish parking in the area was easier .

Had an amazing experience at the brandling arms as part of an 18 person hen party! The food was delicious thanks to chef Darren and the service was exceptional thanks to Grace! Had an amazing time and will defo be going back!

Woman with short hair had a huge attitude , could have asked abit nicer to move while one of our friends in a large group ate. My friend was nice and was fine to eat outside however she could have said it abit nicer. No smile on her face or sorry for the inconvenience!

Came in for breakfast. There's a great brunch selection. Ordered a full English and asked for it well done because I'm fussy. Everything was perfect. Food was excellent and the staff very friendly. We'll definitely come back 👍👍

Our family had a terrible experience here. Servers were dismissive, didn't get our orders right. Not worth the price at all and won't be returning. What a disappointment!

La mejor cena de domingo que he tenido al comer fuera. Salió para el Día de la Madre y la comida comenzó con una copa de champán de cortesía. El servicio era amable y eficiente, pero la comida era excelente. Fuimos por el compartidor que para mí era de gran valor en £ 42, me sorprendió gratamente el volumen de carne que recibimos! Todo cocinado perfectamente, tierno y sabroso. Acompañado de los recortes habituales, cerdos en mantas, zanahorias asadas y chirivías, de nuevo, todo estaba abundante y bien cocinado. Pedí coliflor queso (adicional) que es uno de mis favoritos y vine con una deliciosa salsa de queso mostaza. Los niños tenían deslizadores de hamburguesas con queso y pasta de tomate, que estaban ambos pulidos (sello de aprobación) y las hamburguesas eran aparentemente mejores que McDonalds (no estoy seguro de lo mucho que elogio esto es, pero viniendo de mi hija me lo llevaría. ) No hay postres como nos rellenaron, pero los niños disfrutaron de sus helados y brownies. En general, muy agradable. Creo que el chef de hoy era Daniel, gran trabajo - gracias!

New menu, and I had the cheeseburger which was absolutely gorgeous, shout out to the chef Mariana, and our server Grace was lovely and helpful.

I have not been in the Brandling for years but I will definitely be making it a regular destination The menu was attractive and I was spoilt for choice It was refreshing to see something different than the normal pub fare! I had the prawn and crab linguine which was delicious and my friend had the avocado salad with king prawns which looked so fresh!

The seabass was gorgeous. We had it in the outside sitting area in a lovely sunny day. The guys, Ryan and Dan, were very good to us.

Fui aquí con mis amigos por algo de comida y bebidas. Era muy agradable ambiente y el jardín era muy cómodo. Fue atendido por Daniel que era muy amable y descifró algunas bromas decentes. La comida era cara, pero me gustó mucho. Sin duda recomendaría a un amigo y volveré yo mismo la próxima vez que visite Gosforth.

We visited for the first time Sunday 23rd based on reading previous reviews, we were expecting good things but got off to a bad start being seated on a small table (family of 4) right next to the door which on a cold day wasn't great as it was constantly in use, then the food, quite possibly the worst Sunday lunch we've had, I had chicken which I don't doubt was cooked but very pink so quite off putting, very poor crackling with the small portion of belly pork and terrible looking and tasting yorkshire puddings akin to the cheapest supermarket yorkshires available, the gravy was actually a thin jus which was disappointing, this wasn't a 'proper' Sunday dinner, gave an extra star because the cauliflower cheese was very good but all in all a bad experience.

Not only being a great establishment to grab a drink on a sunny day with a perfect outdoor area, the Brandling provided a great meal for my Mum’s Birthday. With superb food from the kitchen and excellent service from Daniel the whole family enjoyed a perfect evening in our favourite pub.

Came here for a Sunday roast. It was brilliant food and they were able to fit us in at very short notice. Grace was wonderful - very welcoming and chatty. Will definitely be back!

Called in today for a drink as it felt like the first day a spring and they have a lovely sunny beer garden. Service by Dan was super quick and friendly, he genuinely couldn't do enough to look after us- what a gent! Really enjoyed my visit and will be back 😊

Llamé el sábado y el lugar estaba ocupado, lo cual era bueno, pero ¿por qué demonios el personal es tan P; eed off por qué tan miserable, si no les gusta trabajar con el público dejan que no tienen ninguna habilidad de interacción, y siento decir que algunos de ellos se ven sucios como la ropa parece que necesitan un buen lavado, algunos de los pantalones vaqueros parecían rancios. Pero como creo que el cliente que paga debería estar contento de que los miserables miembros del personal realmente se convirtieran en trabajadores. Si el MM está leyendo esto consiga que el personal practique un mejor servicio al cliente,

Great Sandwich and brilliant service

This pub is always a stand out from the others in the area. It’s one of my favourite places in Newcastle and the food and drinks are always top class. Grace and the rest of the staff are always friendly and smiling - something that’s rare in pubs and restaurants these days. I’ve had a few different meals and I’ve always been impressed. I would recommend for family gatherings or just a quick relaxed pint.

Amazing service from george, was very helpful with my nannas milk allergy. its refreshing to see that a pub that looks after people with allergies! thank you to chef bryan, we loved our meals and we will definitely be back for more soon.

We hired a space for our son’s 1st birthday. The staff were incredibly attentive, and the food was delicious! We could not recommend the Brandling Arms enough!

They were so accommodating to us as part of a two family booking. Two babies, two children and four adults. I’d booked in advance and let them know about prams etc, the seating area couldn’t have been better for us. The service was great, food was lovely and overall a great place for a family Sunday dinner. Thank you

We were greeted straight away by a lovely gentleman who sat us. He showed us the menu and offered some specials. It was a little loud at the beginning of the night but there were a few parties in and it was a Friday so not unexpected. It soon quietened down though. Food was amazing and served so fast. We had the boss burger and fish fillets and they were delicious. We were checked in on again by our lovely server which was very nice. Overall lovely as per and will definitely be back.

We went today for Sunday Lunch and decided to try the sharer at £40. Sadly, the food was luke warm, the beef was like cutting boot leather and very tough and full of fat and the chicken full of bones. The sharer is advised as being Beef / chicken and lamp rump, however we were convinced that there was no lamb and it was belly pork. Individual Sunday lunches are priced at Belly Pork, £17.50 / Chicken £16.50 and Beef £18.50 - we couldn't understand why the sharer is priced at £40 - when the only difference seemed to be a small cocktail sausage each. The Brandling is a lovely pub, it was warm and cosy - but don't think we would go back for food again.

My girlfriend and I went for Sunday lunch. Booked online last minute and they couldn't accommodate us. I ordered the beef and my girlfriend the chicken dinner. The beef and chicken both cooked perfectly and the portion sizes were excellent. I would highly recommend. Excellent.

We visited with a big group of friends between Christmas and New Year and could not have had better service. The food was lovely and staff were very helpful and accommodating of lots of little children. We’ll definitely be back!

Delightful pub in the heart of Gosforth. I visited with family and our labrador last Saturday. Brilliant festive friendly feel - we loved the Christmas decorations and food. We had the festive burger cooked by Daz and mulled wine which were delicious. Evie looked after us and she was absolutely fantastic. We can’t wait to come back again and try the quiz! Would highly recommend.

Booked for a small family Xmas meal and it did not fail to deliver. Met on arrival and shown to our nicely set out table straight away. We were introduced to our server, Chloe, who was very attentive and helpful all night. The food is up there for a local pub but of restaurant quality and I would recommend a visit here. We had the three course Xmas meal which came hot and just the right amount.

It's a good pub for lunch. I enjoyed the fish goujon sandwich. The pub is dog friendly and has nice friendly atmosphere. It's particularly good on a sunny day in the beer garden.

Excellent service from face to face booking with Ryan to ordering and table service. Food was truly delicious with so many varied options available and prompt service. Nothing was a problem from the excellent kitchen staff to service managers. Th am you , would highly recommend.

My take of the food at the Brandling on the High Street. On a Wednesday at 7pm, 80% full with 80% eating says it all as a recommendation for the food. (I would advice booking via the simple to use website) The food is hot well presented and may I say served well by the attentive staff. Try the Nachos - it's so different to the rest.

A great pub with helpful and friendly staff. They managed to get 22 people in for Sunday roast at last minute. Grace was brilliant and helpfully.

Our go to place for a tea/coffee in the afternoon or a drink after work. Recently tried the brunch menu which was delicious. Grace was an excellent host!

Fantastic evening for a combined 50th birthday party in the private room at the Brandling Arms. The room was perfect, food excellent and staff were very attentive. Particular thanks to Grace for her help organising the night. We would definitely recommend it to others for a similar event.

Our first choice for drinks on Gosforth High St...Great pub, friendly staff and dog friendly.

We didn't book and the restaurant was very busy when we arrived. Staff were helpful and quickly found us a table. Food was served quickly and enjoyed by all. The service was excellent from all the staff we came in contact with. A lovely evening was enjoyed.

The best place! We have chosen here on so many occasions - we’ve had Sunday lunch, group get togethers, baby showers, etc and it’s always just been perfect. The staff are wonderful and a brilliant choice of food and drink.

My vegan breakfast was perfect 10/10 A lovely clean restaurant with friendly staff. Very good value for money. A traditional English breakfast with toast and a pot of tea plus a full vegan breakfast with toast and excellent coffee came to £27. Everything was cooked to perfection and very tasty. All-all-all a great experience.

Amazing breakfast both vegan and traditional. Definitely will be back as it always difficult to find somewhere that caters for vegan and meat eaters at this standard. Thanks to Luca & Dan in the kitchen as well as Annie & Ryan for looking after us so well.

It’s been my local for over ten years and I love this place. Great atmosphere, music, good selection of drinks and the staff are superb. The general manager especially so, and they have always been really accommodating when my dad comes down who has mobility issues. He loves it in here too.

This local pub is amazing. Great selection of drinks. It is a little more expensive than your every pub but not by much, however you are paying for quality food and the service is amazing. Staff are very attentive and friendly. The pub owner goes out of his way to make sure your visit is a pleasant one. Food is amazing quality. I can totally recommend the steak sandwich with rosemary fries. The outdoor area is great when it's sunny and you are shielded in from the street. I am not going to lie. I am a frequent flyer at this place because the standards are consistently high.

I booked the upstairs function room at Brandling Arms for a baby shower for my sister. It was a perfect venue. It’s a lovely room, food was amazing and staff were lovely. From first enquiry through to the event, it was a really easy and smooth process. They let us bring our own decorations and cake, and put our music on. It’s rare to find a venue who make everything so easy and the event goes so perfectly. Really decently priced too. Thank you Brandling Arms! Highly recommended.

Just had an epic Sunday dinner. The beef was tasty and thickly sliced, loads of veg, crispy potatoes and a fab Yorkshire pudding. We ordered a side of cauliflower cheese that was gorgeous as well- nice and cheesy and a bit of whole grain mustard. Great portion size- feeling really full! Gorgeous food and fabulous wine. Great service as always
