Fantastic offer of 2 for £12 5pm-9pm Sun-Fri. We popped in here for a quick drink before a show in City Hall. Great value with the special as it is on all cocktails and they don't have to be the same. Amazing cocktails too, also really enjoyed the decor, service was friendly and quick. Would definitely have revisited if my stay in the city was longer.

This restaurant will not disappoint. The food was beautifully presented, flavoursome, with generous portions. I had the 2-course at £20 and chose the salad and corn fed chicken. Both were delicious and I was kicking myself for not taking photos. The drinks list is extensive, with some interesting cocktails. The decor is rustic and tasteful, with tables spaced well. The service was friendly and faultless! Congrats on a great establishment!

I have been here a few times, I and a friend were treated to a gentleman’s tea by our wives. Total disaster. Although the place was empty we were sat in a dark corner this was disappointing. As we had was ordered a week ago I would have thought it would be very straight forward boy was I wrong. The wives ordered the normal afternoon tea with some alterations ie no Egg (due to allergy) this seemed to beyond comprehension. You can’t change an apricot scone ( WTF) for a currant scone, oh we don’t have any pulled pork, what the heck has happened to this place it has seriously gone don’t hill. I will not be going back there are better places within walking distance.

1st time to this restaurant 6pm. Only 4 other tables were being used . Was shown to table ,member of staff was pleasant . Waitress came to take order drinks etc, came back later with drinks and took food order. My wife and me both ordered prawn Cocktail to start and pork belly and a steak for me with A side of bread . Prawns came out and straight away the Prawns were very dry and rubbery sauce was more like curry than a cocktail sauce . I didn't eat the Prawns as they didn't taste right, my wife finished hers as she was hungry. We told the Waitress that there's something wrong with the Prawns and she asked if we wanted new ones, we said no as didn't want that again. The mains came out much later and were OK. ( not the best steak I've had ) . We had deserts and asked for more drinks, they brought the bill instead. We asked where were our drinks . The Waitress said on there way. . Eventually they came and we asked for the bill. The Waitress said we have removed the last drinks order from the we said it was the starter we did not want to pay for as the Prawns were off. ..the next day myself and my wife both had upset stomachs ,really bad pains .. the only food we had . . Unfortunately our experience of you food was not that good . We will not be returning as we don't like feeling ill.

Pub/restaurant. Staff very good. Bistro type surroundings. Varied menu. You had better go with a big appetite. Huge portions. Biggest individual pie we have ever seen- perhaps if it was a little smaller there wouldn't be so much food waste and prices could be reduced. All the food was tasty enough. The sticky toffee pudding went a bit soggy as the pudding was swimming in sauce - perhaps should consider serving in a jug and then customers could decide how much to pour - couldn't finish as it was all like a bowl of soup.

Visited here a couple of weeks ago on a whim. We were walking around Newcastle, the sun was out and we were looking for a drink somewhere outside. Everywhere else was packed and we wondered in here as it was down a side street and a little quieter. Very relaxed atmosphere with a lot of drinks on offer, very reasonably priced for the town centre £10 for two decent lagers. We wondered out the back into a suntrap in the back yard with quite a few seats, again was nice to be away from the hustle and bustle of the main areas. We weren't planning on having food but had a look at the menu anyway, which we were pleased to find they had a dedicated vegan/vegetarian menu. Looking at the menu we decided to head through to the restaurant area from the bar, there was only a couple of other tables in there so again was very relaxed. Servers were friendly and attentive in the restaurant which followed on from the bar area. We went for the banana blossom fish + chips and the vegan burger - the food arrived and the presentation was spot on, however we didn't get too carried away as we are used to sub-par vegan food from the majority of restaurants... to our surprise the food tasted just as amazing as its presentation. Literally we were both just sat there in shock, with us both saying it was probably the best vegan food we have been served in a restaurant before. All round 10/10 experience so we will definitely be returning.

Booked this having read the online reviews and looked at the menu. First impressions good, nicely laid out restaurant, decent cutlery and glassware. Comfortable seating. Order taken quickly but quite a wait for starters. Soup good, mushrooms overwhelmed by rich and creamy sauce. Another wait for mains, sadly neither of which hit the mark. Topping for venison pie way too sweet and lamb madras also very sweet, too much clove flavour and not hot enough (spice wise). Didn't finish either main and left hungry and disappointed. Maybe things just weren't to our taste but no excuse for slow service on a quiet evening . Expensive even if it had been good. Sadly wouldn't return.

4.5 out of 5. Visited on a Monday evening so it was fairly quiet but lovely atmosphere. Really attentive staff, Martha waited on our table and was lovely. The cocktails were delicious and great value at 2 for £12. The food is a bit more expensive than other eateries close by but the portions are huge. I don’t think I’d opt for a starter next time. The vegan/veggie menu had plenty of options but it would be nice to see a veggie option on the set menu as currently there is no suitable main. I ordered the banana blossom “fish” which was tasty but about 70% batter and quite hard to eat because it was so big. What I did eat was delicious and the chips and pea purée were great but a bit less batter would have been ideal. Everyone else on the table enjoyed their food, also commented on how large the starters were. Overall a lovely experience and will return :)

Ordered the Venison Pie and it was too sweet for me. The waiter asked if there was a problem and I told him it was not to my taste and he apologised but it was not their fault. During my recent visit to Newcastle, my friends took me to Pleased to Meet You on High Bridge Street. The restaurant's vibrant atmosphere and historic setting immediately stood out, making it a charming spot for a night out. We started our meal with the scotch eggs and mushroom toast. The scotch eggs were flavorful, and the mushroom toast was a delightful appetizer with a rich, earthy taste. For the main course, we had the steak and salmon. The salmon was cooked to perfection, maintaining its tenderness and flavor. However, there was a noticeable inconsistency with the steaks we ordered. One was significantly thicker than the other, which affected the cooking and overall experience. Despite the minor hiccup with the steaks, the highlight of the meal was undoubtedly the dessert. The rhubarb crumble with ice cream was exquisite. The crumble was crisp, the rhubarb tart and sweet, and the ice cream complemented it perfectly, creating a delightful end to the meal. Overall, Pleased to Meet You offered a mixed dining experience. While the food was generally okay, with some standout dishes, the ambiance and friendly service made the visit enjoyable. I would recommend it for its unique atmosphere and excellent dessert options.

We'd passed this restaurant the night before, and it looked cosy and busy. We went the following day when we wanted a late lunch c3pm and wanted a proper lunch for 4 people. There was a set menu which looked very good value, but we only wanted one course each so opted a la carte. The menu catered very well for diverse tastes. We had: Fish pie: large; a lot of mixed fish; good sauce taste and texture; excellent mash topping. Fish and chips: large; crispy; beautifully flaking large fish; good chips. Pork belly: refined; tasty; non-greasy a clever dish. Pie of the day: absolutely HUGE. Oxcheek in a red wine reduction, with a generous helping of mash and assorted greens. All of the dishes were very good. Service was friendly. Restaurant spacious with well-spaced tables, comfortable for lunch and would also make a great spot for dinner for freinds or a datenight. Really nothing to fault?

Me and the wife ordered a cappuccino, latte, 2 diet cokes, steak brunch (steak, sautéed potatoes, chorizo and 2 runny eggs) and a spicy Italian sausage (spicy Italian sausage, muffins, chilli cheese eggs - trust me it works!). Coffees were followed shortly by food, hot, fresh and beautiful. Steak was done perfect and eggs were runny and potatoes seasoned perfectly. Whole lot came to a very reasonable 35 quid. Genuinely nice place with a classy interior, nice staff and options to dine alfresco. Plus they do awesome cakes and treats. Will be back.

We came here for a work dinner with about 26 of us. I'd been for drinks before but never food and was looking forward to it. We were asked to pre order, which we did, providing choices a week in advance. We sat at our table at 8pm, whilst we were 2 big tables the rest of the place wasn't busy at all. The first starters appeared after 40 minutes, no explanation of the delay and we were at this point having a good time so just focussed on enjoying the food. I didn't have a starter but a friend had the mussels and said they were very good, others had mushrooms which they said were ok. I was looking forward to my main, which then didn't appear until 9.50pm. The whole main service was a disaster. Food came out at all random times, there was NOTHING said about the delay. I was so hungry by the time it came I would've eaten anything to be honest. I had ordered the Thai pork curry, the flavours were good but it was luke warm and the bread a bit soggy. We couldn't work out if the delay to food was a ploy to get us to buy more drinks and stay for longer, it was just bizarre. Given how late it then was, those of us who had pre ordered puddings cancelled these as we wanted to leave. Along with the wine I paid for, I was charged £19 for my main. The organiser spoke to the manager, there was no apology or even recognition that it has been bad, he just mentioned something about mis timing the starters and then delaying mains so they came at the same time, which is ridiculous as they came at completely random times. No money was taken off the bill, disappointing given the poor service and experience. I've given 2 stars because some of the food was good, but we won't be going back. So many better places to visit in the toon for dinner.

Ok Frank and honest review . Don't leave many . Arrived difficult I suppose time of day clean up from lunch at 1645 on a Sunday . Lady who meet us good explained missing lines etc and seat us promptly. Then I am sorry to say went down hill service wise . The lady who took over didn't smile or interact at all . I do believe realising later. We ordered then wine took ages until I reminded I think the manager . Who went to bar which I could see and hadn't been done not the end of the world . The starters arrived and sorry to say my sauce on liver was stone cold but flavours good and my wife's salad amazing . Next no check back and waited at least 10 mins for waitress to look up from computer and order another glass of wine which was brought immediately. The mains arrived a sharing chateaubriand which was 2 steaks sliced across see . Ok taste good but not what ordered. Sauce perfect and sides excellent apart from so called triple chips . Ie deep fried potatoes with many black marks in them. And no check back until 20 mins after delivery. I don't write this to be critical but to offer a restaurant constructive feedback . I paid and actuallly as we were given check the bill offered an option to leave a tip or not which for the first time in years I decided not to. I think she understood . When leaving the gent and lady turned backs and ignored us. Ohh well Sorry to write this but at times feedback is positive

Had a lovely dining experience here. Food and service were excellent, and they brought my Dad a wonderful decorated Brownie plate as we were celebrating his birthday.

Booked afternoon tea for our friends 60th birthday. Arrived and were seated and served our Prosecco. Then we sat and waited and waited with no sign of the food. People around us were served and one couple arrived after us and had eaten their meal and we were still waiting. One waitress came over and apologised for the wait and offered us another bottle of Prosecco. However even after this we were still kept waiting another 20 minutes. When it arrived we were told there had been a problem in the kitchen. We asked how this had seemed to only effect us but staff were unable to answer this. Once the food arrived the sandwiches were dry and the bread hard as if they had been made much earlier. We informed the staff and she said ‘sorry’ then walked away. Al in all very disappointing for what was meant to be a special occasion

We visited as a group of friends for an evening meal. Table was ready and the venue interior really suited the location of the cobbled street. Our service was really good. Friendly and attentive throughout the evening. Good job! The food came all together ready for our group to eat. All the food was cooked as requested and tasted amazing. The chargrill on the sirloins steaks was to perfection. The beef burgers are really good value for money with high quality ingredients. Overall the location and food was 100% and I would go again.

I would like to begin this review by expressing my positive experiences at PTMY Newcastle over the years. However, my recent visit on 23/12 turned out to be one of the most disappointing dining experiences I have ever had. My housemates and I had a table booked for 7:15pm, and despite arriving early, the staff managed to accommodate us, which was great. Initially, things seemed promising as a friendly Irish or Scottish girl took our drinks and food orders without any issues. Although the starter took a while to arrive, it was within a reasonable timeframe. Unfortunately, the situation deteriorated rapidly from there. For over 40 minutes, none of the waiting staff approached our table. They didn't check on our food, take additional drink orders (despite us finishing our drinks), or clean the dirty table next to us. Eventually, someone cleared the neighboring table, but my housemate had to ask the girl if we could order more drinks. After that, we didn't see her for quite some time. We were left feeling confused and frustrated. There was no sign of our main courses, no explanation for the delay, and no one attending to the cleanliness of the area. It became increasingly disappointing. Finally, after about an hour and a bit (including the initial 40 minutes), our food arrived. I ordered the Christmas dinner, which was incredibly underwhelming. It lacked flavor and was disappointingly small, with no pigs in blankets (this was never included, just can't believe you would have one without pigs in blankets). Although my housemates enjoyed their meals, they weren't anything extraordinary. At that point, we decided to salvage the experience by ordering desserts. All of us opted for the sticky toffee puddings. However, I strongly advise against choosing this dish. It was clearly microwaved, as the cake arrived mushy and lacked the fluffy texture a proper cake should have. The sauce resembled water and was utterly pathetic. If I may offer some advice to the chefs, I would suggest leaving the cake as is and heating the sauce on a stove before pouring it over the cake. Alternatively, the cake could be kept under a hot lamp. Microwaving it only turns it into a mushy mess, indicating a lack of care in its preparation. One of my housemates couldn't even finish hers because it was just awful—I wish I had her willpower. I would like to mention that there were only a few other tables occupied, making it a quiet evening. Unfortunately, the waiting staff performed poorly that night. Having worked in the hospitality industry for over 5 years myself, I would be appalled if any of my staff behaved in the manner they did. There was no friendly banter or conversation, no interest in our experience, and no explanations provided. It truly felt like it was everyone's first night on the job. While I typically refrain from singling out specific workers, I genuinely believe that those who were on the restaurant floor that evening should consider pursuing a different career path. I won't be returning to PTMY Newcastle.

I've reviewed a lot of Sunday lunches over the years and said some good things about them but "Pleased to meet you" is by far the tastiest I have ever had. From the mash, wow, to the red cabbage, broccoli, roasties and Yorkshire puddings and the pink roast lamb. Absolutely fabulous every mouth full. Not the cheapest but worth every penny. Oh, and if you can stomach them, try the Oysters. Amazing.

My husband and I called here after Christmas shopping for a festive Christmas lunch but we were very disappointed the fig and game terrine was bland and the Turkey was grissly the roast potatoes were tasteless served with a few measley sprouts you had to pay extra for pigs in blankets and more vegetables I had to ask for cranberry sauce !! The young girl serving us was very pleasant the only thing we enjoyed was the white wine Such a shame as it is lovely inside

Went for Sunday dinner, and the food was brilliant! A good-sized portion with plenty of meat, leaving you comfortably full. Pudding was tasty, and the wait for food was nice and quick, too. Good value as well.
