Good quality ingredients, beautifully prepared - only one snag very salty. I am not sure if it was because of too much salt or MSG used in the dishes, however, it wouldn't put me off from ordering from there again. Didn't have to wait that long for the delivery either.

I love the location as its near to my house but I have been subject to racism by the waiter as she refused to serve me even though I had a reservation. My mother also was subject to the same treatment just because she was wearing hijab and the waiter told her she had only one hour to sit and didn't take her order they had to wait for half-hour then another waiter took the order. It's shocking how they treat customers like this as this is pure racism!

We sat at a table outside in the park. The system is that first of all you must fill in a little form with a lead person giving contact details. The table is sprayed and wiped with antibacterial liquid. The menu is on the boards outside the door. We hadn’t realised this and were waiting for a menu to arrive, so maybe need to double check that everyone knows. The food was delicious, the staff were lovely and like us, they are feeling their way in managing the current situation. I have been there on several occasions and have always been impressed with the friendly service and the lovely food. Great to be back on such a lovely day. Thank you

Surroundings ok, food ok, but what an attitude! The waitress couldn’t tell us what soup was on, and wasn’t sure if it was ready anyway, so said she’d go and ask. When she didn’t come back, hubby asked another person (owner?) if the soup was ready - she snapped ‘if it was, we’d have told you!’ Won’t be going back...

Walked in to order a coffee and asked to pay before I sat down, the front of house lady was so rude moving her head to direct me to go sit down until I repeated that I wanted to pay first which was met with such a hostile reaction. She was incredibly unwelcoming, very rude giving off an unpleasant negative energy. Not what you expect to be greeted with walking into a cafe, I put my purse back in my bag and walked out of there - won’t ever be returning considering there are far nicer places to choose from in the area with much better service. I have to thank this place for helping me realise that atleast :)

Had a very nice brunch here on a Saturday- the atmosphere is very relaxed with plenty of assistants to tend to us. Wooden floors and tables gave the place an American feel. One wall is a window out on to gardens, which was unexpected for the centre of town. I noticed lots of young families so it must be a popular place for them. We were just passing through and found this place by accident. I would recommend!

After going into Rosie's once a week for the best part of the last two years, we have decided, "no more", the last 4 visits have resulted in wrong orders. After informing the waitress on each occasion that the bacon sandwich we wanted was just that, no olive oil, butter, spread or anything else on the bread, it would duly appear with one of the above on the sandwich, each time, it was sent back to be cooked again. I don't know if any of the staff are aware of the English language, but if the order is written down, then surely, the kitchen staff can read and follow it. But, "no", it's interpreted as something else and because of this, the order is sent back to the kitchen as soon as it arrives at the table. The owner is unbelievable, you never get welcomed with a, "hello" or "how are you today?" Just a fake smile and shown a table. I wonder if she really wants to be in the catering business, if not, she should stay at home. Rosie's is a lovely place, but is spoiled by snob for an owner and staff who don't want to be there.

Decided to give Rosie's a second chance but experience was no better this time round but far worse than the first. My wife ordered the pork burger of which appeared half cooked, which was then swiftly returned to the kitchen only to be brought back a burnt burger which was barely edible as every bite was like eating burnt toast- To top it off, the waiter shared her wisdom to us that pork can still be ate pink but not beef.. I'll leave it at that We were reluctantly offered no charge on the burger which were weren't too fussed about as we just wanted to pay for our food and get out ASAP. Unfortunately we wouldn't consider the shop for fit for food but drinks are not bad.

My friend & I tried to have a cup of tea here one lunchtime last week and we could see that it was quite busy. We were told in quite a curt manner that we could either go & sit at a table outside or wait for one inside. I pointed out that I could see an unoccupied table but was told it was reserved for someone. We decided to sit outside as it was a lovely day but when we got there, there was a small table but no chairs. The waitress seemed surprised that we were leaving and asked us why, I told her that we didn't want to sit on the ground. This is not the first time we've been disappointed by the staff's attitude. I came with my daughter last August for a cup of tea & a scone only to be told that the delicious looking scones on the counter were already sold/reserved for someone else. I've never ever come across that before where you can reserve food before you arrive. Why not take them off the counter where hungry customers can't see them. My impression of Rosie's I'm afraid is not a good one.

Two young waitresses were very friendly and attentive , it is very expensive in here and you get small portions but the foods very nice. It’s usually packed full but there is a waiting area. Chef and older waitress looked sick of their lives ! (Or bored!). Been a few times and it’s nice for occasional visit but bcos they’re usually so busy end up going to costa instead !

Rosies is a little more expensive than the average restaurant but it really does not matter as there is no doubt it is value for money. The layout is excellent and, if you are fortunate you will get a seat by the window, but then again the whole restaurant is quite roomy. The food is cooked on the premises and consequently takes a little longer to serve. The staff are fine the I have no issue in this area, it seems as they are part of the family. My wife and I have little treats with the food and, on the last visit I had 2 poached eggs on toast and smoked salmon with tea. My wife had bacon on waffle with maple syrup. Delicious. We have visited Rosie’s a few times - one thing that can’t be denied is that the food is tasty and it is a nice looking cafe. The problem is (as many have said before) the customer service. As tasty as the food is, it’s bad enough to stop us from visiting again. There seems to be some oddly strict rules for what should be a warm and welcoming cafe. On one occasion we arrived and asked for a table of four but as only two of us where there we were told we weren’t allowed a table (even though there were available tables) until the whole party arrived, so we had to wait in the entrance and consequently were unable to secure a table for my partners elderly parents as by the time they arrived, there were no tables left. Because of this, the next time I wanted to go, I called to book ahead for 11.30 and asked if it would be ok to order off the lunch menu at 11.45 (lunch menu starts at 12) as my grandma eats lunch early and we had a short amount of time to spare. I was told by the man on the phone that eating lunch instead of breakfast 15 minutes earlier than time stated on the menu was impossible.... so I said ok we’ll go elsewhere, and he chirped - ok great! I find this bizarre, there are lots of friendly local cafes that actually seem to want customers so we’ll be visiting them instead in future. Such a shame!

I visited with my 79 year old mother, my daughter and a friend. When we walked through the door my mother politely asked for a table for 4. The older waitress was very unpleasant and said she didn’t have any and told us we could wait, but was much keener for us to leave, and mentioned several times we could leave. Foolishly we said no we’d wait. Eventually we were seated after waiting in the massive waiting area (where there is probably enough space to seat 8 people). Once we ordered we waited 20 minutes just to get the tea we ordered and then waited again for the food, but at this point the restaurant was only about half full. The attitude of the older waitress awful, she was condescending and seemed to look down her nose at us on every interaction we had with her. This is such a shame as the menu offers some very good good food, that is just a little different, but not good enough to entice me back. I prefer to use small independent businesses where I can, but I think I’ll be going to the chain restaurant next time as the staff are much friendlier.

Visited today at 4pm with my 1 year old. Told to find my own seat. When the waitress came over (older one) I ordered a child’s sandwich then asked what cakes they had. The response was “well what do u like?” I said “well can u tell me what you have”. She said “no I can’t there’s ‘that many’ it depends what you want- cheesecakes, chocolate ones, lemon ones depending on your taste” in a very rude manner. In the end I said I’ll leave my baby at the table and look myself. Considering there was meant to be ‘that many’ the choice wasn’t very large. Just a lazy waitress who couldn’t be nice or bothered . So I ordered a cheesecake and when she went back to the counter she was obviously laughing and talking about me to her colleague blatantly so. Obviously loves her job going by previous comments on here or had an issue I came in with my baby and didn’t order larger meals. Whatever I won’t be returning.

Have been to Rosie's twice now. The first time was a group of 5 adults, 1 toddler and a new baby. Advised we needed a big enough table to accommodate and was made to feel like this was a nuisance to them. They only gave 4 seats so when I dragged another over myself the lady (presumably manager/owner) marched over to ask why I was moving the chairs, I advised her this was because we were one short. Didn't think this would have been an issue, but moving even just one chair seemed an ordeal for her. The cafe was about half full, so not like we were disrupting anyone else. Anyway, we ordered, and no complaints about food or drinks, was really pleasant and actually really reasonable. The menu was actually quite unusual and this made a nice change. Paying the bill was the next ordeal as they were quite rude about us splitting it not down the middle and just generally seemed to be making things difficult. Anyway, 2nd visit was me and a friend with our two babies. We arrived at Rosie's to find the same lady behind the till. It was extremely quiet, with only 3 other tables occupied (so approx 80% empty) and were told as we had our two prams they were unable to accommodate us as the only table suitable for 2x pushchairs was already in use. It was obviously not an option to use one of the many free tables and move one along slightly. We left, so didn't get to sample anything that day and won't be going back. Friends have had similar recent experiences at Rosie's and from reading other reviews it seems they are extremely unfriendly towards families/children in prams. Shame as Gosforth is so busy with Mums and Babies as there are many baby groups on in the area. In complete contrast we went to the Trinity Church cafe where the male member of staff dashed over to help us move some seats to accommodate both prams, brought some coffees over to us (despite it not actually being table service, he was just being helpful) and it was no surprise that in our time in there it became really busy, whereas Rosie's was still practically empty when I walked back to the car park.

We have been to Rosie's a number of times. The food is among the best of its type in Gosforth, but the front of house welcome is consistently mixed. I'm not sure if this has anything to do with us having young kids but the feeling is that they would rather turn our custom away than welcome us in. Perhaps they should be up front and apply a lower age like limit for their customers. An alternative approach would be to look happy when people arrive at the cafe rather than giving the impression that they are doing you a favour by letting you in!

Four of us went in with babies, no staff helped us and when we asked what cakes they had we were told 'get up and have a look for yourself' whilst we all had babies in arms. Disgusting customer service and everyone I know with children tell me they wouldn't set foot in here. Stuck up staff, unwelcoming, unfriendly and unhelpful

Took my dad for lunch today and it was a lovely warm welcome on a very dark cold November afternoon! The lunch specials and all day sandwiches give plenty of choice as well as afternoon teas after 3pm I think it is. It's good value and the food is prepared fresh but quick. We had a bacon sandwich which was served on lovely fresh granary bread and a grilled chicken courgetti pesto dish off the specials. That was £8 which is quite a lot for a lunch dish but the courgetti pesto base was delicious, it just needed a bit more chicken and it would have been perfect! The selection of cakes were too tempting to refuse so we shared a chocolate brownie filled with white chocolate pieces, it was faultless and good value at £2.65. I definitely recommend Rosie's for a cosy winter lunch and will be back soon!

I visit here most weeks with my sister and her baby girl. I am so shocked to read some of the reviews as we always have a positive experience! The staff are always friendly and even though we have a pram, they are never rude and always accommodating. It probably isn't aimed at children yes, but they never make a fuss and we are happy to return each week. The food is 5 stars - always absolutely delicious and we love the choice. Often we treat ourselves to cake too! People have obviously had a mix of experiences here but I've been a good 10-15 times and always a happy customer!

This was my second visit in a few weeks having decided to give them a second chance after my first visit. I have six month baby and therefore a buggy. On both visits I was asked if I was coming "for lunch or just coffee and cake" what does it matter?! I am still a paying customer and need a seat and table for both! Also, they pride themselves on their cakes/scones etc so surely you would encourage the cake and coffee guests?! Anyway this is irrelevant as both times I was eating lunch! They weren't overly helpful with buggy and said there wasn't much space even though, as other reviewers have stated, there were others with buggies at their table. And it's not the fact there's not much space, we get that, we know buggies are a pain! But be a little more positive when stating this and politely as us if we could leave buggy e.g. If baby old enough for High chair etc.Waitress service varied but on the wHole could have been friendlier, and perhaps more knowledgable in terms of the menu/cake options or at least provide a list to save us having to get up and look at the counter. Or recommend us something!. Food was pretty good (I had the tortilla and salad) and cake and coffee nice too (I opted for some almond Italian treat!).Given the location of the cafe, right beside the park and in the centre near a children's play area I really feel this cafe needs to be more friendly and accommodating towards mums. Customer loyalty can be earned equally from guests only coming in for a morning coffee as those who eat lunch. And it's such a beautiful setting, don't ruin it with poor attitudes. With the new competition of the naked deli next door, I strongly suggest Rosie's up their customer service training and change their attitude to mums to ensure they remain competitive .

I took my 7 yr old daughter and 1 yr old son out for what was supposed to be a treat lunch. What a disappointment, I felt unwelcome from the moment we stepped in to the cafe. From being told that they don't really have space for buggies so could I leave mine near the door ( then seeing others who had their buggies near their tables), we weren't offered a children's menu for my 7 yr old and it was only when we read the small print of the raggy 8 page menu that we realised there was a childs menu. The tea was loose leaf and tasted awful, the scones were hard, the food was basic considering the price. I wouldn't go here again if you paid me, I spent the entire time feeling unwelcome and uncomfortable. There are so many better places in Gosforth.

A nice spot for breakfast or lunch. Have been with my husband, with family and with friends and have always enjoyed the food. Good menu selection, and will go again to try out the afternoon tea. Cakes all look delicious, and I especially recommend the chocolate chip shortbread - so buttery! Can be quite hard to get attention of any staff when you're sat down if you want to order more drinks or dessert, so may not be ideal if you're restricted to set time for a lunch break.A request - please extend the breakfast menu finish time a bit more so it works for a brunch visit!

I have tried to give this cafe another chance; however, I find (who appears to be either the owner or the manager) very offish indeed. Everything always seems to be a bother for her. Whether it is getting a table, sorting personalised needs out for customers or just general care and attention for a service that is disproportionately costly versus quality of outcome. I think perhaps the worst thing of all is the lack of personal care for her customers. The setting is nice, particularly the tables overlooking the park; however, the service is absolutely terrible. The woman in charge has a very austere demeanour and she can come across as very rude and unconcerned-every time I have been there. The phrase that comes to mind every time I go in there is "this place would be great if not for the customers".

I think the two reviews below this and the photographs they have attached refer to somewhere else.Rosie's is a lovely little coffee shop and bakery. We enjoyed friendly and efficient service with a view over Gosforth Central Park and fresh flowers on the table. It is tastefully decorated and fresh feeling. They serve a variety of teas, those we tasted were good. We also enjoyed a lovely scone with jam and cream, just as you'd want it.Nothing negative to say, we could fit the double buggy through the door and between the tables. It was quiet but not dead and the couple sat behind us were clearly regulars as the waitress merely confirmed their order rather than took it. A good sign!!

Nipped in here whilst visiting for the Chinese New Year celebrations and was impressed by the pub. It's not a large pub but I think that adds to the atmosphere in there. Nice tiling on the walls with quirky "family heads" above the bar, large TV, warm pub with friendly staff and in a good location on the edge of China town. I believe it was £3.70 for a good cold pint of Coors lite

I have called this review Gosforth High because this is a lovely little restaurant that is one of the highlights in Gosforth. Easily missed, it's tucked away in the shopping centre next to Sainsburys. Often busy, which speaks for itself. Recently re-decorated.I love Rosie's because the atmosphere is always buzzing, a great place for friends to meet over lunch. I always go for the fish finger sandwich because I enjoy the simplicity of the idea, yet it's delicious and very filling. If you are lucky enough to get a window seat then you can watch the world go by with a nice cuppa.Go visit and support this lovely little local. Thanks for a lovely lunch Rosie's, much appreciated and enjoyed.

This is far better than the usual cafe you find in a boring shopping centre. The decor is smart and stylish. It is well spaced out and the large windows looking out on the grassed area is an excellent feature. You forget you are in that dull shopping centre. The food looked lovely, especially the cakes but as we only wanted a snack, we opted for the exceptionally tasty and reasonably priced warm rustic sausage roll. I was disappointed they did not serve syrups with the lattes and the mocha was quite bitter so maybe I'll stick to basic coffee or tea next time.

The female member of staff just didn't seemed interested in our custom being more determined to not let us into the cafe.
