My partner and I have visited on two occasions and enjoyed both. On our most recent, we ordered Halloumi and Sausages to start, with a burger and macaroni as mains. The food was delicious. My macaroni was supposed to come with bacon but didn't, however the bartender dealt quickly with this problem so it was resolved. Very happy.Very good atmosphere and live music was great. Only slight complaint was the wait on food despite being the only people there to eat. However, I would return again.

The Eye On The Tyne is located next to the river Tyne and tucked up a side street near the law courts. It is within walk in distance from the local Premier Inn and Travelodge which are also located on the Quayside. You can find the pub on foot by walking for about fifteen minutes from Monument in the heart of the City or by jumping on a yellow Quaylink bus accessible from the centre that will drop you almost outside. The pub is ideally located for evening drinks after work or for Summer drinks by the picturesque river.I had been passed the pub several times but never been in until the other day when I met my mate for drinks post work. I had to use my phone to satnav the location because I was not 100% sure which part of the Quayside it was on. You enter by a side street just opposite the courts and if you have never been before, it is easy to walk passed and miss it. Walking into the pub, I immediately noticed the space and the decor; it was modern and chic and helped to set it apart from other pubs giving it an upmarket feel. As big as the space is when you enter, you get the feeling that it is quite homely and welcoming. There are seating areas to the left and right of the bar, as well as those tucked behind the bar. The pub does have a TARDIS feel about it, being a lot bigger inside than it appears from outside. When we entered it was early evening and there were not many customers so my mate and I just propped up the bar. We were first met by a very friendly, professional and nice bar lady who joined in with our banter and listened to my mate and I share stories. She was joined by a male bar man who was equally as engaging. I am a huge fan of positive customer service and I believe that this starts with a positive initial interaction and then building a rapport with the customer. This makes the customer feel valued, gives the members of staff an identity and means that the whole experience is likely to be remembered. Both of the members of staff I spoke to and had banter with were brilliant and exemplify good customer service and barmanship. They were smartly dressed, professional and polite; attentive and present but not overbearing. They were both incredibly fun and knowledgeable and speaking to the barman about the pub and it's future, only seemed to show his passion and enthusiasm for the company he works for. He was also good enough to signpost me to other bars owned by the company suggesting that I also think about having a pint there if I like real ale. Overall, the banter and the customer service is enough to make me want to revisit the place even if it is off my normal route. The pub offers a selection of lagers, beers and spirits, as well as real ale. The prices are comparative to the other pubs and bars on the Quayside, demanding a slightly higher price because of its location. However, I would suggest that it is worth paying the premium for the location, the banter and the decor. If you are on the Quayside for pints after work, a trip to the Baltic gallery or for the Sunday market, you cannot go wrong nipping into The Eye Of The Tyne for a relaxing beer and sincere banter.

I organized a small baby shower on a Thursday for a work friend and booked a table over the phone fro 12 of us. They asked us to pre order food which was understandable due to the large group. Our table was booked fro 7 but we arrived early and they already had the table cleared and reserved so we could get in early. We were able to put up banners and balloons and they asked us what time we would like the food brought out which was excellent. We played games and ate our own cake and it was no bother to the bar staff. Really excellent quality food at a good price! Great offers on drink too! We could also pay our bill separately which was great as we all left at separate times. And just to top the night off after the party They had a live busker on after so we sang the night away.

Had a wander in here a couple of weeks ago and was told there was live music coming on,and it was free.We hadn't realised it was an eatery as we were going to go elsewhere for food. The barman came over and had a chat with us,informed us that they served food, gave us a couple of recommendations , explained that it was all cooked fresh, and was just really helpful,I think his name was Keiron.Anyhow we decided to eat here as we had a nice table, the place wasn't too buisy and of course the music was going to be starting,We weren't disappointed the food was good, very reasonable and well presented. The range of beer's available was also good,as was the bottle of wine, all in all a good evening at a fraction of the cost of a fancy restaurant, and well the live music was just the icing on the cake.

Luckily we got a great parking space right outside as the weather was awful. The staff that greeted us were lovely, friendly and happy to see our dog. Always a good thing! He was even fed (doggy treats)and watered before us! :-)They explained the menus and suggested where we might like to sit. There were a few other customers in, including a stag do, who we hardly noticed as the place is so spacious, clean and comfortable. We ordered an all day breakfast, 2 sandwiches and chips. We had drinks too. It cost about £27 for 3 of us. Not bad. The sandwiches are above average. The menu is great, lots of choice. We will go back for sure. I need to try a cocktail.

Seems to be a bit overlooked as a bar - lots of places to sit, spacious (unlike many other quayside venues). Drink prices are reasonable. The food is a bit "meh", but it'll do. My fish n chips were filling, but uninspiring. You go for the space really, it's light, comfy and good to get a big group of you in with bums on seats. Ladies loo's could do with a refurb. Also, it's dog friendly, which is handy :)Tip: if you're in the ladies, the reason you can't lock the door is that someone's mounted the locks too low, so you have to shove the door up, then lock.

Pre Sage visit like a few other reviewers. It was quite busy but there is plenty space inside and the tables aren't too cramped. The menu is typical of a local pub and we chose the lunchtime special of soup, sandwich and tea for £6.99. The food was nice when it arrived and we'd be happy to visit again.

Met some friends for lunch and decided to try The Eye on the Tyne as it is a nice spacious and comfortable pub where you instantly feel relaxed. The menu was fairly typical pub grub but that was what we expected so we were happy to give it a try.We all had something different (3 of us) and agreed that the food left a lot to be desired. I had a skinny southern fried chicken burger with coleslaw and salad. The burger wasn't a burger as such but a breadcrumbed, flattened fillet, probably of reconstucted meat. Apart from the seasoned crumb it had no taste and a slightly unpleasant texture. The coleslaw was truly horrible, a suspicious pinkish colour and it was warm. Generally I love a good coleslaw but this was inedible. The salad was undressed. Prices are reasonable but that is matterless if the food is this bad.

I went into this pub after watching Scotland v Samoa rugby and it quickly became very busy. A good looking and well decorated place but wasn't really equipped staff wise to cope with the crowds that had come in to see Wales v Australia on TV. As a result it was hard work getting served. There were three real ales on display, not suprisingly as this is a Greene King pub, and I had a couple of pints of IPA which were fine. Despite the crowds, I did see several groups order food and they didn't wait too long. The comments I heard were complimentary too although I didn't eat there myself.

We managed to get a window table and were pleasantly surprised to find that there was a 500 calorie and below menu along with the usual menu. The three of us all chose the salmon fish cake with fresh tossed salad that had a lovely lemon mayo dressing. We shared a lovely bottle of Zinfandel at a more than reasonable price and the house wine choice was good too. We ordered and paid at the bar and were served in no time. We initially intended to eat at the Broad Chare having heard so much about it but eventually found the menu a little too pretentious for our tastes so tried the Eye on the Tyne next door instead. The large bar was very empty was was a little surprising for an evening time but I assumed competition was just so is high around the area. We simply wanted some food quick with a pint. Sadly the quick turned into a 40 min wait which we never got explained as to why when it eventually arrived.By then I could have eaten anything. Which was just as well as the £8.99 chilli ramen I had ordered were just the most boring thing I have ever eaten. There was no ramen, no broth, no vegetables as you'd expect. Simply some noodles with chopped chilli. How the price was justified was beyond me but I was hungry and took it as that. My partner had gammon and egg for £6.99 which seemed much nicer so I guess it's not all bad.My verdict, stay away unless you have no other choice. There is nicer places to eat and drink around Newcastle.

I took my wife, Daughter and 2 years old Grand Daughter to this restaurant for Saturday Lunch. I ordered drinks and asked if they could be added to the lunch. Unfortunately I had to open a tab by having £1 taken from a Debit Card. I ordered our meals. As I was impressed with the advertisement for "Hand Battered Fish & Chips with Mushy Peas, this is what I ordered. I have never witnessed a worse piece of fish. The batter was dark as if it had been fried in old oil. The batter was so soft that when squeezed, oil came out similar to a sponge. To cap it all, underneath the batter was a lovely piece of soft black oily skin. The chips were typically frozen and the mushy peas came in a small ramekin dish with the peas being about two teaspoons full. From the small portion of fish which I ate, the taste lingered for ages. Other family members chose other meals from the menu and these were just average but edible. Staff were attentive. When I went to pay the bill (£41.50) I mentioned the fact that I had a tab open, but the waiter took no notice and after swiping my card, gave me a receipt which had no breakdown of costs, so I was left not knowing whether my £1 had been allowed for. There must be better places near the water. Will not return.

This place is in a lovely location, it's a decent size and the menus are good. It is let down hugely by the incredibly rude staff. I am a young woman, almost 23 years old. I am short and I look very young so I often get ID'd and that's fine. On this occasion, however, the situation was embarrassingly different. A nice lady behind the bar had taken our order and not questioned anything. While she was away making our drinks, 2 barmen came over and said "no children allowed at the bar". It took us a while to realise they were talking about ME. I asked if they were being serious and they nodded with a strange smile on their faces. I asked if they weren't even going to ask for some ID, so one of them, clearly the manager or something, stuck his hand out, looked at my ID and walked off. No apology or anything. This was an incredibly humiliating experience for me and embarrassing for all those involved: myself, my FIANCE, the men themselves and the other customers around us in front of whom I made a scene. Please teach your members of staff some manners.

меню разнообразное, но еда не очень вкусная, была там два раза, думала это просто мне так попалось, но и во второй раз меня ждал неприятный сюрприз( насколько я помню, заказ тоже не очень быстро принесли

We had a lovely time here, the bar was moderately busy and there was a wait for food, but the staff were very friendly and very helpful, I was sceptical about the roasts as I had read the reviews here but the team assured me it was good today! And they were right, the roasties were perfectly cooked, the gravy was thick, the veg was fresh, the Yorkshires a little flat but tasty! we had to wait a little for the coffee as they had a few orders on and only one coffee machine, we understood! All in all a good lunch,

While on the Quayside with my wife and 2 year old son we decided to try here for lunch. On arrival we were told to choose any table so I requested a high chair. After 20 minutes of waiting and not a sign of any staff we left to eat elsewhere. Very dissapointing as the menu looked nice.

My party of 10 visited this establishment on Sunday 17th august. My husband and I ordered the beef, it was very tough, could hardly cut it. Vegetables hard. The gravy was the worst ever, so watery, it shouldn't be called gravy. The meals came out in drabs and drabs, took a while for everyone to be served. Not many customers were in, so god help them if they were busy. This place is over priced, poor quality food/cooking. To be avoided.

Called in for a cappucino with friends which was £3.30 and okay but not very strong. My friend had chicken miso noodle soup but had to remind the staff she ordered gluten free as they brought out flat bread. It was £3.89 but she really enjoyed it and said was worth every penny. The staff were very polite and helpful. Love the look of the place it's bright, open and cosy with reclaimed brickwork which I love the look of in bars. The toilets were also very clean. Overall a good place for a coffee and light lunch although we didn't have any main lunch.

Looking for a late lunch and this looked like it would fit the bill. A sandwich board outside advertised a sandwich and drink for £5.99 but when we went to order found this was only available Monday to Saturday (this was a Sunday). Continued with ordering a sandwich, a wrap and drinks but had to pay more. The amount of steak in the wrap was minuscule and my lemonade tasted strange. I'm sure there are many more eateries on the Quayside that would be better. It was very noisy with a child screaming the whole time (not the pub's fault).

I rarely bother to give a poor review, however in this case it is work the effort. Nice looking pub but one very pleasant, hard working, young lady was working the bar, collecting glasses and serving food (it is a big pub). Drinks are not cheap for the North East but that is OK. I ordered good old sausage and mash, no one can mess up bangers and mash. Ho yes they can, the mash was reasonable. The bangers were cheap and over cooked the peas,,,, Now to the "gravy" - Chef (how as he the cheek to take the title) had crushed a single oxo cube into a pint of hot water. SHOCKING. Avoid like the plague!!!!

Always fancied popping in here as it looks lovely from the outside, so decided to today for a Sunday Roast. We chose here over a Wetherspoons because we thought we'd pay a bit more for quality...mistake.The menu offers the option of half a roast chicken, instead you get 4 slices of chicken breast. The roasties and Yorkshire puddings were burnt and for some reason (in the case of the roasties) they were seasoned with a massive hit of pepper...why bother when everything else is neglected?By far the worst though was the insipid, watery excuse for gravy that covered the food. It may as well have just been water for it had no flavour and zero viscosity. We all know a roast is only as good as its gravy and a good relatively thick gravy is especially important when you're dealing with the watery fallout from ill-drained steamed vegetables that accompanied this dish. In a last ditch attempt to rescue the dish from bland tasteless oblivion we took up their offer of "unlimited roasties, gravy and vegetables" and got another portion. Potatoes were burnt again and this time we had a full jug of the "gravy" to use like a fondue. Mission failed.Good points? Vegetables were fresh albeit not drained very well. The beef (2 slices) and chicken (not half remember) were of a decent quality. Next time I'll check trip advisor first, because clearly you don't get what you pay for here and the menu can't be trusted. I hope this review saves someone from a disappointing roast! P.s. Just got a pot of tea and they can't find a lid that fits it...says it all. The worst thing is we chose here over The Broad Chare next door. I know where we'll be going next time.

Food was superb. Evening spoilt because of the rowdy noise from the bar which is situated next to the dining area. To make matters worse a large group of young women (hen party ) were dining at the time and were very loud. Did not enjoy the meal at all.The standard of breakfast was poor, however the service was good

I was very pleased with this pub. The service we received was good, the food was very good and it was outstanding value, for example: a sandwich, a side and a drink for only £5.99.I'd certainly visit here again, and I'd highly recommend it.

Popped in for a quick snack and drink on Saturday. This was possibly a bad idea as it was match day and at.james park (sports direct arena) was emptying out. Been in here twice at lunchtime. Golly, where do I start? We ordered a sharing platter. The greasy, insipid mess that arrived could have been anything on the menu. It really didn't resemble any identifiable dish.Flat overpriced glasses of Coke. Well, I say Coke, it was more like 85% ice and a dribbling of Coke inbetween the pieces.Staff were surly and looked fed up and stressed.Incredibly, this was once two great pubs, the Baltic Tavern and the Bonded Warehouse. One to avoid.

This have good seating especially with the large arched windows where you can stretch out with your favorite tipple and relax with view of the Millennium bridge and the River Tyne. The food and drinks are reasonably priced and the special offers are good value for money. We mainly had breakfast here for the 3 days we were in Newcastle. The breakfast served until 12pm is good value for money but the only complaint I have about it is that they need to serve this on warm plates because the food gets cold quite quickly otherwise. We had sharing platters on our first evening in Newcastle and these were good value for money and filled a corner for two before we went out.The staff were friendly, attentive and helpful and the atmosphere here is lively but also relaxing.

I have always given this bar the benefit of the doubt. Needless to say.....tonight, bought a double spirit with cola. With ice and my double, was at least a cm of cola for 75p. Asked to top up, told another 75p. Unbelievable, never drunk a double straight, but may as well. Spoke to manager told long boring story about how the chain control every single measure of cola. Not her or the bar mans fault, but never, ever ever in my life been refused a top of of coke unless I fork out another 75p, esp for a double!!!! Won't ever ever ever drink there again - talk about advocating binge drinking!!! It's £1.50 to double up, but also £1.50 for two shots of cola. Hideous mentality, a lot ofOther closer bars offering full glasses.

Went there for brunch, because unfortunately the other place we wanted to go to didn't have space. We only could get the all day breakfast, as it was just after noon. What we have been served as breakfast was high up on my list of disgusting things I have eaten. It happens that you eat things in a restaurant where you think: I could have done this. But this food, not even my 2 year old would have screwed it up so badly. The bacon was fried in a dirty pan and was disgusting. The sausages were dry and burned. The beans were probably reheated. And how difficult can it be to make fried eggs. Really? That was just bad.The food arrived without the eggs and they were brought after (waitress brought food too early). The coffee and tea arrived after we have finished the food and after asking twice. The coffee was just disgusting. It was brownish in color and was not drinkable. While walking through the place, I saw several breakfast plates went back half eaten (if at all).I left with a bad taste in my mouth and cannot recommend that place for breakfast. I felt sorry for the waitress who was alone in the whole place and had to serve that rubbish. She was still friendly. That was the only reason I didn't complain. Will not go to that place again.

Called in for a drink after a night out. It's a bit too bright and was very quiet for a Saturday night. Prices didn't seem too bad but when I ordered a Malibu and coke, the glass was barely over half full so I asked for more coke, to be told I had to pay more for it. To it off, the coke was flat and watery. It was also freezing in the bar and the atmosphere was non existent! Disappointing visit.

I met with 6 friends to have a drink or two before we went for an early Christmas meal elsewhere, we had about an hour to spend there. Three of my friends arrived first and said they'd waited ages to be served, even though the bar was quite empty. When the rest of us arrived we moved a couple of chairs so we could all sit together. We were not blocking the way for others to get past but a man came and said we were and could we put the chairs back and sit at a big table - at the very back of the pub! He was very insistent. We should have said 'No' but we're fairly easy going so moved to the table. We found we were the only people at the end of the pub and were stuck in the corner at a long thin table - akin to school dinners! There was absolutely no atmosphere. To add to the joy it took about 15 minutes to get served with more drinks. We drank them swiftly and went to another pub to spend our money. I definitely wont go back.

Called in for a quick lunch but had to wait for half an hour for it to be served! We smelt burning, should have been suspicious, one of our group had ordered halloumi .... It had been cremated! Was like a rubber mat. One customer drank a bottle of wine whilst waiting for his chips! Clearly there had been a problem as the staff were rushing around apologising to everyone. We were compensated but lost valuable shopping time! Have been before and it was fine, but will give it a miss in future
