The Westgate Fish Grill in Newcastle upon Tyne

Parmo has so much white sauce I had to scrape half off. The Bombay Kabab meat was absolute fire and could not eat from the spice. Chips were stale. Seems this place no longer cares. Ohh added to all that I found a short black hair in my food and deffo ain't mine as I have long brown hair. Its the 2nd bad meal I have had here now. Best walking further and going to Clayton St chippy.

ordered food and the lady serving me was always on her phone and not really communicating then the bloke took over. i forgot to buy some drinks and hand in the cash didnt even put it on till and saw it went straight to his pocket!

They brought out the food separately some hot some cold and they served me moldy bread not once but twice

The owner is the most ill mannered, clumsy and rude individual. If you look at all of his responses, all he ever does is defend himself. So not come here. Their wings are disgusting and as small as a walnut. Horrible.

Heavily disappointed. I spent north of £20 for what I was hoping would make me feel full but I'm still starving! In fact, I'm now on Chillingham Road buying more food so I can sleep peacefully. The chips were so hard, it made my gums bleed. There was absolutely zero naga in the so called Naga wings. It was just a lot of chilli powder and maybe a sprinkle of lemon juice, nothing else. And don't even get me started on how ridiculously small they were! Look at the pictures and make your own judgement. The BBQ wings were equally as disappointing. We ordered the Westgate special kebab hoping it would taste the way it's described. Did it heck! It was not appealing at all. Never ordering from here again even if they offered a meal on them!

It used to be lovely here.. fairly priced and a quick pick me up but it's went downhill in taste. Judging by how they respond to negativity it seems customer service has went downhill as well. The wings are unbelievably small for such a price and the donner doesnt taste great either. I hope they decide to improve on taste and service as it was genuinely a nice place to go.

Ordered the mixed munch box, was absolutely outstanding went straight to the top of my new takeaway place to order from. Chicken in 3 different coatings was Devine, chips perfect, fresh naan absolutely amazing!

10 pound for 1 pizza and a sauce absaloute rip off I'd understand if the food was out of this world but its average now I know why the shop is always empty

Gone down hill since new management. Refused to change my pizza when I told them it was the wrong one and they could even see my history of which one I always order. Was hung up on 3 times! This was last month in the month of Ramadan ;( was a regular but never going back (or friends and family)

Absolutely shocking customer service! Calling customers a lier and refused to rectify their issue! If only you could put no stars!

My heavily pregnant wife ordered her usual pizza (ordered a dozen times previously) & they got the order wrong, when she rang to complain they put the phone down on her twice and made her cry. then me once. I took the pizza back for a refund and the owner told me my wife made the mistake so no refund.. absolutely disgusting behaviour from a company we have used so many times over the years. The owner does not give a **** though. More bothered about his ego.

Over the years the quality of the food has gone downhill, the chips for example have lost all their taste. Most of the meat is also near tasteless now. I hope this changes but not recommending to anyone.

Fish and chips OK. Pizza OK. Doner meat can only be described as disgusting. It was dry, shriveled and chewy. It is unacceptable for the owners to sell this to a customer.

Big portion sizes at prices that make it great for value. Unfortunately I was overcharged after a error with the card reader, and struggled to get my money back with the manager constantly unavailable.

10 inch, Pizza stir fry mix donner, was amazing never seen a pizza that full of topping. Tasted amazing and was enough to fill 2 adults at least. The fish and chips were delicious too. The fish is haddock, flaky and so juicy. The tikka burger, was abit dry, but ok portion. Been here twice now, both time been on point.

6 quid for the skinniest/smallest chicken tikka wrap I've ever had. Although it tasted OK i find them extremely stingey! Go up the road to moulin rouge for a much bigger tastier wrap for only £4.50. All the cans of pop in the fridge where really warm also!

Kebab meat was grim and staff were rude. Chicken wrap was really good as were the chips, so I guess just be careful what you order.

Went there yesterday (1st April) and checked their menu to see what they offer for Fish and Chips. You can get a small portion for £6, or a large portion for £7.50. Then checked their deals/offers and found that they do one called a "Westgate Special", which I was expecting to be good and better value for money so I ordered 6 of them (for my family). It turns out that the "Westgate Special" is literally just large fish and chips with a 500ml drink, mushy peas, and a little bun - and somehow the cost of the "Westgate Special" is £9.50 each. To make it worse, they even charged more for extra sauces - chilli, garlic, and mint - so I spent around £65 in total for my food. Put simply, you can get better fish and chips from lots of other places in Newcastle, for a much cheaper price, so don't bother with this. It's not bad food, it's just nowhere near worth the cost.

Great service, only down site was the over cooked pizza, and the tomatoe base tasted extremely sweet.

I went in couple days ago, the guy who looks like a molvi, (beard one) has bumped up the prices now costing fish and chips £7.50, fair enough if it's good quality but the fish is just half standard, then he has the audacity to charge for ketchup, when you even spend over £10? What in the world are they thinking, I'm sorry but if a customer spends £10 or over at least give them ketchup or any other sauce for free. I'll give this guy one more chance but if he charges me for ketchup then am not going again, I only come here because it's halal otherwise I wouldn't go at all!

Fish and chips where yummy! Fish so tasy. Chips. Well they whey they should be. Hard to get from a chip shop. Defo be using again. Highly recommended.

Average. I usually tend to order here as not many halal fish and chips in general and this one is nearby. I feel like their large fish is actually more medium to smallish. I like the curry sauce they have. It's okay but not the best I have had. Ps Better to order your fish open as when they pack it (like all places) your fish is prone to getting soggy!

ordered a donner kebab wrap with chips and they gave me a seperate box of chips instead of inside the wrap. It was a dead meal. The chips are so stale. I hate this place never ordering again.

Recientemente he estado aquí varias veces y el personal siempre es educado y amable, se lava las manos constantemente, la comida se prepara a pedido y es rápida y fresca. He comido pizzas y pescado y patatas fritas con salsa de curry y sin duda probaré mucho más del menú, ya que son raciones muy razonables y buenas. Hay una zona de asientos que está lo suficientemente limpia, aparcamiento en la calle principal y el aparcamiento a la vuelta de la esquina. Entregan y tienen un buen menú y descuentos.

Delicious food, delivered warm and fresh by friendly staff. Ordered food several times fab every time. Definitely recommend to everyone.

Just ordered for the first time an they were lovely, ordered fishcake and chips,southern fryed chicken strips and chips,mushy peas an can say they were pipping hot, the only thing that was supposed 2 come with the chicken meal was garlic sauce an there was none (but I was not bothered) but we will fefo order from here again

Just been to the shop got cheesey chips sed at least 3x that want the sauses on got them seprate Any way ok ignored that next ting sed that i want chips with it then she took the rong price and try to say that i dident want the chips had to pay 1.5 instead of 1£ for the chips with the burger meál also sloppy burger no taste and think your temps are not right as the burger was more like melted chocolate then a chcickn burger deffo not coming back and defoo keep and eye out been my first time defo last !!!

Just had food delivered, it took an hour and 20 minutes which would have been alright if it wasn’t stone cold, the chips are mould and taste absolutely disgusting. 15 pound wasted. I won’t be ordering again. Please save your money everyone

Westgate fish & ill. Reaaaaally hit and miss, especially a miss when ordered for delivery. Sometimes it can be amazing food, but other times, it's made me and others ill. It was once a branch of the Coastline (Blyth) brand, and sometimes it holds on to the quality of that, but other times, no. Chewy, weird old oil tasting, poisonous. A shame because it used to be the best chippy in the city centre. I've noticed that ordering in person is a hit more than a miss, just make sure to stock up on imodium.

This is a pretty tasty takeaway. their donner kebab isnt greasy but stil nice and tender. Best thing for me was their really inventive spicy chips. They use chip shop style chips and coared them in a homemade curry sauce, a fusion of chippy meats bombay potatoes, really nice.

Large choice, cooked fresh and excellent value

It is predominantly a takeaway fish and chip shop with seating. Fish and chips were okay, but the seating area was full of empty plates and rubbish and both toilets were blocked and full! Glad I ate before (thinking about) paying a visit. If they don’t keep the shop tidy, I wouldn’t like to think what the kitchen is like. We were the only people in there, so the staff could have done some clearing and cleaning.

Excellent quality fish n chips. The batter is light and crispy, fish cooked just right (saw the guys using a thermometer :) great staff!

Good food and friendly staff. Ordered fish and chips however the fish had thick batter therefore quite greasy. The doner meat was better, with mixed salad and tasty chilli sauce. Although this place offers sitting areas at the time I visited there were no other customers but food delivery drivers. Will return soon.

The best fish and chips I have ever had. I ordered small because I normally can’t eat a whole fish and chips due to the greasiness. However I ate everything and felt I could eat more. It was so light. Totally have to recommend if you’re in the area.

Not good at all, previous week ordered fish and chips and it was amazing, but yesterday bought Parmo meal( parmesan they so praised), first of all had to wait 30 min at store, the owner taped the box, so couldnt check in store, when got home - find out that parmo was burned, kebab meat old and stone cold,very little salad and soggy chips, not good at all.

Food was ok tho sausages need more batter. Tables were wobbly, hot drinks where brought out in cups with cracks in them. A member of staff sat watching videos on her fone loudly.and when other ppl came in, she just about pushes other lady out the way.. bathroom was dirty.

Burnt chips. Even the box has burnt holes through. Tasteless parmo, also burnt. Can taste the raw garlic in the sauce. What a waste of money.

Many times we get a carry out from here. Love the fish out of here and you always have a good laugh with the staff while you are waiting.
