The William IV on High street is a local pub in Gateshead that offer a decent range of beers and was one of several pubs that we visited on a day out around Gateshead. A solid old style boozer that is housed in a traditional pub style building'the interior is again a traditional pub interior with lots of good seating options and an outside area at the back with extra seating options. I don't know why but I adore going to pubs like this as it brings me back to when I first started drinking many years ago and most of the pubs I visited where like this. This pub was very busy when we visited as where most pubs we went to in Gateshead and when here we had a couple of bitters from the John Smith's brewery which were well served and priced. This is another superb local boozer and is well worth visiting as the staff were friendly and they offer a well priced range of beers and is very easy to locate from High Street bus stop it's a minute's walk.(This is my first review of the William IV). Opening Hours. Monday-Thursday-10.00-23.30. Friday-Saturday-10.00-00.30. Sunday-10.00-23.30. Nearest Bus Stop. High Street bus stop.

My twin brother Stephen and I decided to walk over the magnificent Tyne Bridge to Gateshead and we decided to drop into The William IV Pub. A nice locals pub, pubby decor and furnishings, the main room is dominated by a solid wood serving bar, tv's to enjoy the sport and plenty of seating options spread throughout this pub both inside and outside in their small but cool beer garden out back . We were here on a Tuesday afternoon, we ordered a John Smiths bitter each, these were served in excellent condition, we took our bitters outside were we soaked up the sunshine while sipping our bitters. My bitter was really good, a smooth bitter served iced cold,on a really hot afternoon a totally refreshing brew,it was so good being over this side of the River Tyne visiting pubs not aimed at the tourist market. We really enjoyed our bitters in here before we moved on and for a first time visit to The William IV Pub we had a great experience. The William IV Pub is easy to locate along High Street. Opening hours are; Monday to Thursday, 10am till 11.30pm. Friday & Saturday, 10am till Midnight. Sunday, 10am till 11.30pm. A wonderful pub, most definitely well worth checking out if you're in the area.

I used to love this place, the staff were nice and had amazing pizza. But their staff members are so miserable, and didn’t call last orders which meant that she effectively told us to finish our drinks within 5 minutes because she wanted to close up. Bit weird. If they still had pizza then it would bump this review up… we ended up going to Gingerinos in Ouseburn, MUCH better.

¡Gracias Hannah!

Busy student vibe lots of friends enjoying themselves, plenty of seating area and screens to watch sport, upstairs with pool tables seating and again screens, music in background just right for early evening, drinks were good and reasonably priced, staff were all attentive and friendly. Food was tasty and well presented didn’t have to wait too long either. Would highly recommend for a casual night out not too ott and most welcoming Cracking beer garden 👍🏼

A lovely find when I was staying in Jesmond recently. I'm not a vegan but I very much feel that vegan beer ought to be more widely available (finings only make the stuff look nice) and the ales on offer prove the point very nicely. A nice collection of board-games, tasteful music at a reasonable volume, friendly locals and staff all add up to a calm and cosy atmosphere. This is the kind of pub where I could happily sit and read a book all day. A very pleasant experience.
