Job Bulman Pub in Newcastle upon Tyne

Only went in for drinks on this occasion. Have had food previously. Good service. Excellent value for money.

So went in for a basic burger on 04/03/25, 13 chips of varying size and the burger was tiny, thought it's a cheap burger but the portion of chips was too small scraps and the odd long one, decided next visit would be Thursday for a curry and I would have the Naga Vindaloo, I went in at 1pm and I was advised no Vindaloo and no Madras, I asked the girl who listed off curries, I said it's curry club isn't it so what available, she read out Jalfrezi, i told her to serve soneone else as this issue had caused a build up at the bar, she came back and I said ill have the Jalfrezi, this wasn't what I wanted but none of the others took my fancy as I had been looking forward to the Vindaloo all week, I asked for chips instead of rice as I always have in any Wetherspoons I go to, she said I can only gabe the simple one, I said I have no idea what she means, I again reiterated it was curry club and I never have any problems, I said I want the curry club Jalfrezi, she had to ask a colleague who was like yeah of course, and directed her to the bottom of the till for the option, I paid and sat down, now I have to order at the bar because the app doesn't allow the option to swap rice for chips which is a chuff on if your by yourself. I had a look at the app when I sat down and low and behold they had the madras which I would have got had I been told. Issue is this staff person had no idea about curry club and no idea of a simple swap and no knowledge of the available items, in addition this Wetherspoons should really have all the curries at 1pm, no great customer service and poor staff knowledge, I was looked over too and a man said I was next luckily. Staff need trained and food needs to be ordered to accommodate, the portions are tiny and they literally must be counting the chips, I did hear 15 was standard but they can't even count that high and a chip 1cm long is still counted with another 8 cm long, no consistency.

Apareció en un par de bebidas de dos días jugando en máquinas tragamonedas y ganó 240 todas en monedas de libra preguntaron en el bar si cambiarían los billetes y consiguieron esta mujer gerente muy gruñona que no vio muy mal crack

Cheap and cheerful very friendly staff

Good range of real ales, beers and lad larger. A nice breakfast and very reasonably priced

Refusing scottish £20 notes now, won't be back Mr Wetherspoon.

Pregunté quién le había dado instrucciones para hacer esto y ella dijo que el Gerente, el Gerente no estaba de servicio esa noche, pero una líder de equipo que es evitada por la mayoría de los habituales lo estaba. Me gustaría informar a Tim Martin que cuando contrate personal, debe explicarles que no están dirigiendo el pub para su beneficio, y son meros empleados, ¡él está haciendo su negocio sin favores alienando a sus clientes por chorros saltados de oficio!

Tonight a Karen tried to kick up some bullshit fuss with the lovely lady who's duty manager, well that lady manager has never let me down and she's blooming lush n all so I reckon that cheese slice was just a whinge in disguise I loved the whole dramatic scene as the manageress was floating about with a beefburger kids meal for ten mins trying to explain how a pub works to the whinging lady. Class pub. Never lets you down. Gave out free whiskey last Christmas.

it was new year's day mywife and I whent for a drink in the pub but i was constantly reminded I looked like alan shearer. It made myself and my wife uneasy so we had to leave. 1/1/25

Great value pub. Large bar area. Reasonable priced food and drink.close to the High Street.

Paseaba por Gosforth un sábado por la noche buscando comida. Segundo fin de semana de diciembre y en todas partes estaba ocupado, muy ocupado. Y entonces apareció el Job Bulman y entramos esperando lo mejor. ¿Y sabes qué? Fue realmente bastante bueno. Es un pub Wetherspoons y el menú era exactamente el mismo que todos los demás en la cadena. A pesar de las multitudes, el personal era extremadamente servicial y la comida llegó a tiempo. Y, fue muy agradable de hecho, no podía fallar en absoluto. Recomendado.

I do enjoy going here but the tables do not get cleaned very often so you have to sit with dirt! However the food is always fairly decent.

Ordered sausage beans and chips arrived Luke warm ate it as was hungry but not nice ,service was good but will not be back

There's various places for parking and central for shopping nearby.

The food considered ok with the price. We have the steak and peri-peri chicken with two pints of alcohol. It’s 27 pounds. However, there are some of the tables left uncleaned so it took us while to find clean table.

Llamé para unas copas y estaba ocupado como de costumbre, nada malo con, excepto que algunos de los nuevos empleados necesitan aprender servicio al cliente, especialmente el muchacho que trabaja el sábado por la tarde aproximadamente 5. 00 pm pelo y barba negros, todo lo que puedo sugerir si no te gusta trabajar con el público entonces vete. Su actitud era horrible, grosera y parecía que no le importaba. Todo lo que le digo al Gerente es que puedes contratar mejor que él.

Tables covered in finished plates and glasses. Staff were rude when we asked if we could have a table cleared so we could sit down to eat. Appreciate it's cheap and cheerful but no excuse for the service being so poor.

I came across this pub and wandered in . Had a good pint of stella but the most rewarding thing for me was the great barman called Sam who helped me to get a taxi . He went above and beyond to make sure I had a safe ride home . So Thank you Sam , you are a credit to your employer .

You get what u paid for basically its not very great, but okay for a cheap breakfast or just a 🍷!

Went on a Friday morning for breakfast, busy, staff were nice but I think they needed extra staff on, coffee machine was broken, then fixed, then broke again, woman's toilets were not pleasant at all, at least 2 toilets blocked, don't think they'd been cleaned at all

Price wise good value The breakfast was ok . Why do they always serve eggs barely warm and hard yokes . It's not rocket science 🙄🙄 .1st Wetherspoons breakfast since covid , unfortunately standards have slipped !..

I went here on Tuesday with my friend for a cheap lunch, during a cost of living crisis I’ve always praised Wetherspoons for providing decent meals for very reasonable prices. I always eat out at Wetherspoons as I simply can’t afford to eat at proper restaurants these days so spoons is a good compromise and nine times out of the ten the food is perfectly adequate and quite tasty. I had the breakfast wrap with chips which I tried last week at the branch in town and it was lovely, however I don’t know what happened on Tuesday as when I bit into the wrap I found that the cheese and egg were the texture of plastic, it was inedible. Really I should have sent it back but for only £4.75 or whatever it is for a hot meal and a drink I didn’t see much point so I just ate the chips and left the wrap. To be honest I think The Job Bulman is far too inconsistent for my liking, I’ve had some lovely meals from here in the past but on my last two visits the food has been very poor in this branch. It also could do with a deep clean and a massive makeover as it’s been looking tired, scruffy and neglected for years. The baby changing facilities are also very grim and I won’t use them anymore. Such a shame when other Wetherspoons are decent, even the one in Sunderland serves up better food than this!

Food was tasty, there was a good portion for the price too. No issues whatsoever, waitress was friendly and we got our food around 10 minutes after ordering.

Good wetherspoons, used to enjoy coming here for a quick family meal although it's becoming more of a local man's boozer with the group of rude alcoholics that frequent it often, claiming "their area" and telling people to move if they sit in "their seat" and scaring little children!

Visited here for lunch during a short stay in Newcastle. Had a salad which was really nice. Beer was spot on (brewdog). Fast service. Ordered on the app. Great 👍

Food portions were surprisingly small. The bar staff need to tell the customer when the card machines aren't working before they make their drinks. Other than that, it was an average spoons.

Excellent! Friendly, attractive and very interesting pub. Well worth a 1/2hr walk from the pubs on Osborne Road.

Better than other wetherspoons I've been too from food point of view. Cooked properly and proper portion sizes. Nice atmosphere However place could do with good clean/decorate. Sat next to windowsill and was peanuts dried out stuck between cracks on sill that looked as though been there years. Looks like the cracks also had been filled with salt

Lovely pub,quite busy but there's plenty of tables,had a nice breakfast.

Needs updating. We were going to eat there but it was so cold so didn't want to stay that long.

Busy pub. You may struggle to find a table. Brought children and ate food. Children loved the food, so I was happy. Standard weatherspoons menu with pizza included.

Hate going when two certain members of staff are on, come 2 minutes past 11 they are hassling customers to drink up and leave. They have obviously not read the Weatherspoons Company Guidelines regarding reasonable time to drink up. Hope the manager reads this and gives appropriate advice.

Standard Wetherspoons, gets a bit crowded and lack of phone signal but this can’t be helped, all in all, decent members of staff

Came for a catch up with my friend. Food was delicious, I ordered a burrito bowl salad. So easy to use the App for food and drinks and service was quick

16 Yr olds can't get served food unless accompanied by an adult, early afternoon. Then were told to get out. Every other Wetherspoons they've been to, Morpeth, Metrocentre, Whickham, Bedlington have served them food without any problem. They were not asking to be served alcohol. It was not evening. I don't understand the problem. They were made to feel like criminals.

Can’t beat a cheap and cheerful spoons meal! Lovely katsu curry and a bottle of vino to go with haha! Regular customer I will indeed be back soon

Good local pub, which allows ordering via app if you don't want to wait at the bar. Didn't have the food, but the drink and company was enjoyable, and the staff friendly and efficient. The venue doesn't have its own parking, but there is plenty of local parking close by.

Food and drink were good but not anything else. The table was dirty and I didn't sit down at an uncleared one. The floor was dirtier than the table. Went into the lavatory an hour after the notice stated it had been checked to find the toilet paper missing. Got some in another cubicle but not something pleasant to do. I won't be going back. The state of the place put me off. It's in Gosforth not Newcastle.

We didn't order any food. The place was absolutely packed(Friday night, so this was obvious). Good atmosphere, took so so so long to get served, and of course the prices are so cheap. The wait to be served clearly isn't the fault of the Staff, they were working as quickly as they could. There was just nowhere near enough Staff. One thing I've also noticed about this and any other big pubs these days, is that the glass collecting/collectors, are a thing of the past. To which end the tables are always a mess. Very good atmosphere in here. We will come back.

Typical wetherspoons but very tired looking needs a refurb. Not overly impressed being told to leave after this drink as we aren't allowed in after 8.00 with children, the girl in question was our daughter and she is 28.

Cheese chips under cooked chips and almost no cheese on so not so good

Very naughty children running round, jumping off the bannister, shouting, screaming and no clothes on. Complaint made but nothing done. Won’t be back. My ears are still ringing.

Food good for the price. Its also an evening meeting place for drinks too, so can be quite full from early evening. Good staff. Has its own outdoor smoking zone which saves smokers from the wind as it enclosed with tables and chairs too. Update: We went back on an afternoon visit. The food was just as good as last time. Was the place half empty or half full? I seen it as half full. You can feel the positive attitude of the serving staff too. Update. Spent a few hours here tonight. I didn't expect ot to have as many customers on a windswept rainy night. Lovely staff as usual. Cocktails 🍸 🍸 2 for £12 so had a couple of my fav monitors mmmm

The only thing colder than the food was the temperature in the building. It was a Tuesday night but cold food and no heating.

Decent food at affordable prices. No music as is the norm for the chain.

It was great and food was lovely my steak was cooked to what I wanted it. My American pancakes were lovely and I would definitely have them again. Nice and cheap and cheerful place to dine if you want somewhere nice and cheap. I would definitely recommend it anyone. Great food and fast service.

Our local but heating been off for a month now so tonight just too much, everyone sitting with thick coats on! Also unusually women's toilets stink! Off to The County! More expensive but warm and toilets don't stink.

Good range of beers. Curry night is good value n tasty. Staff are pleasant. Can get a bit rowdy at times.

Can't knock the choices of drinks, the prices and the location. Grub can be pretty decent. The atmosphere has always been pleasant when I've been, and appears to be a well thought of local for people to enjoy. Long may it continue!

Hot breakfast on warm plates, accompanied with unlimited hot tea / coffee, all reasonably priced. Very clean and warm - especially nice on a cold day. Always great service from staff. Love The Job Bulman.

whats not to like? drinks are very reasonable. maybe could do with another staff member as always busy. sandro tonali came here for a meal so thats good enough for me.

Excellent prices for well kept ales

I go there with my mother who is ninety. It suits us both as she likes to be near the window as she is almost blind and likes bright light so she can see. She is a meat eater and I am vegan so the menu suits us both. The atmosphere is good and like any Wetherspoons it is cheap which is always a consideration.

Had to clean our own table on arrival, menu was stuck together with something brown, served with dirty dishes and utensils. Pancakes were hard in the center (???) with asda value sausages to boot, couldn't finish the meal. Will not be coming back.

Since I came here, the steak has been superb. Perfectly cooked and good size with plenty of chips at the side. Haven't gone wrong yet. Hope they continue the great food.

Disappointed with the large breakfast. Didn't come with black pudding unless you paid extra for it! Rather pay for a full English with all the originals on - mushrooms, tomato, quality bacon & sausages, beans etc. The quality of the produce wasn't good. Won't be back in a hurry.

Good venue, a good choice of beer and spirits, Canny staff plenty of space to sit & relax.

It's your typical Wetherspoons. Full of undesirables on the evening with their cheap items. We went for breakfast and got we we paid for, can't complain, filled a hole! The best thing about this pub is the refillable hot drinks

It's cold sitting by the windows,sitting on the copper topped tables make your hands unpleasant. Not nice.

Does the job when it comes to standard wetherspoons food. Definitely a must to order via the app to your table as the bar gets very busy, but the drinks and food came quickly and the food was hot. Can recommend their burger and drink deal as very good value for money. The only issue is the place itself, it's very dirty and there are a lot of flies in the bar area, the whole place just feels grimey. The staff were trying their best as well but there were lots of dirty plates piled up on tables as customers cleared up after previous customers.

A member of staff took and binned my takeaway whilst I was at the toilet. Not happy,no apology, nothing.

Asked for small fish and chips. The fish was only a strip of batter with only about a tablespoon of fish in it.The last time we go.

Ordered large breakfast it arrived in good time but the eggs were not up to the good standard I normally get.They were like rubber as though they had been warmed up in a micro wave.Yolks were hard not very nice. Disappointed.
