What a pub! Might just be the best I have visited in the UK - good choice of beers and the burgers are unreal! The pub is super dog friendly too, so a great place to head down to with your canine best friend as well!

my family and i usually really love the brandling villa but had a weird experience tonight! my brother who is 19 (it was his birthday today) went to the bar to order a pint and didn’t have his id which is completely his fault i understand that totally, so they didn’t let him get one which is ofc completely understandable. so he went back to the table to ask my dad to get him one which my dad did,, which i understand maybe isn’t the best way to go about it but he is of age and it’s legal to have a drink in a restaurant with your parents if they buy it for you when you’re 16 and my brother looks very obviously over 16. as my brother was taking a sip a very rude man came over and kicked us out with no explanation and we had to leave. i understand if someone doesn’t have their ID they can’t get served thats totally okay and fair but i think it’s abit extreme to get kicked out while we were having my brothers birthday meal out because my dad bought him a pint. a very odd interaction and probably won’t be returning which is really sad!

Lovely place. Animals allowed. Food and beer good, but service even better.

Nice casual atmosphere for drinks with friends. Would defo go again! Not too fancy, just perfect for a casual catch up :) see ya next time.

Has always been a world class pub with a constantly great selection of beers and a phenomenal set of burgers and pub snacks.

Service is sometimes slow/questionable but the food and atmosphere is amazing! Would recommend to anyone local or visiting.

Really great experience with the Brandling Villa. Have been plenty times before but booked in for 25 people for our work Christmas do and everything was seamless. Communication from India was great through the whole booking process. Everyone absolutely loved the buffet put on - there was so much food and a really great and varied selection that catered for everyone. Always a really great atmosphere inside and everyone has a great time - thanks so much to all the team and chefs

We love having the Brandling Villa as our local - great atmosphere, great food and drinks. Huge bonus points for the fact that the veggie/vegan options are variations of the original menu items rather than just a plain burger with a bit of salad. As a vegetarian, the food is probably the best selection of good pub food I've ever experienced. We visit at least once a week and have never been disappointed by service or food/drinks. Would massively recommend to anyone in the area - or if you're not in the area its still worth travelling for!

The place is lovely. Staff very friendly. Food and drink good. But, we went for a pub quiz and the Quiz Master seemed to have a large ego. The content and language he used was foul. Some was quite shocking. We went with our son and his partner and we were not expecting that. Maybe some people think that is funny but it was not something I’d choose to listen to again.

The pub is nice. We ordered 2 portion of fries, asked about them after ~20 minutes, we were assured that they were about to come. Now we've been waiting for 40 minutes and no fries yet...

Great pub, with great service and a good atmosphere. Food menu looked good with some quirky names for the burgers etc. Didn't have time to try it out but I'm sure it's as good as it sounds. Good selection of drinks too.

Decent very decent burgers!! Chicken is absolutely delicious here. Steak and chips seemed just a little short of steak and the nachos were just okay. Good range of beers here and staff are very helpful. VERY dog friendly, too friendly for me!! Takes American Express and has high chairs.

The Ruben which is served in a bagel is really good. Full of pickle's and Mustard. Always a really chilled vibe here and I appreciate the low and no alcohol range of drinks. We love that the brandling villa is our local.

Superb place to pass time with friends

Called in for some lunch with the wife and kids, the place is looking a bit sticky, what I mean is a bit dirty, a little run down, anyhows I order a pint, the selection is a 5 star, some wonderful ales on tap, the food?? Massively down hill, I order the beef goulash fries, I have to say, its basically a cheap tin of tomatoes with chunks of celery mixed up with some shredded beef thrown onto some chips (not much of it also) after a few goes, the chips are soggy and you are left with very acidity mounds of tomatoes that go cold very quickly, not enjoyable, the kids had burgers and looked fine and said they enjoyed, my wife ordered belly pork, pork was fatty, very chewey and covered in a sweet sauce that was ridiculously overpowering, me and the wife used to come for lunch often as she works in the ministry (before covid) and the food was always wonderful, unfortunately this will be our last, shame.

First time coming here and really impressed. Extremely dog friendly, bowls regularly filled with fresh water, ‘beggs’ doggy sausage rolls for the doggos, and unbelievable food for the humans 😆 large portions, fair prices, and fantastic quality. Staff lovely and chatty, and enjoyable cosy warming environment. Will be back!

This is such a good pub - good atmosphere, great selection of beers, superb food and friendly staff. Oh, and dog-friendly if you’re that way inclined.

Unsure what has gone on since our last visit but the food quality and portion sizes has dropped significantly. The menu of delicious burgers has vanished and the costs has gone through the roof. I pai £25+ for 4 drinks. The whole vibe of the pub has gone. Sorry we won’t be returning in a hurry

This is our local and we love it. We're in often for the Sunday quiz. Came on Thursday for the new special night they're running with the German food and it was to die for. Shared a platter to get a bit of everything between us and we weren't let down. The food is plentiful and absolutely top. Good selection of board games too so it was a very chill night. Do enjoy having this pub next to us.

The perfect pub! If someone was to ask me to list everything you need in a pub, the Brandling Villa would tick every single box! Craft beer, tick! Great and out there food menu, tick! Location, service, interior, all tick! And most importantly, they don’t just have a sign saying dogs welcome, I’m sure they’d rather have a pub full of doggos rather than humans if they could! Dog food, water bowls and treats behind the bar. 110% will be returning to try more of the food with my best friend!

Great, relaxed atmosphere. Staff couldn't have been friendlier. And the food - was excellent. I've been everywhere in Gosforth for food, and this is definitely the best I've eaten.

Brandling does some wonderful ales, the beautiful redhead was very helpful with a few tasters until I chose a pint of the ale that I liked, I order the "Angry susan" as I was starving, the burger was 2 big, messy, the patties were overcooked and very dry, a 4 out of 10, been here for food a few times and it's good, just not what I ordered today.

The BV is a great pub. The beer is nice, food good, music excellent and ethos outstanding. But they dont keep the website up to date with upcoming events and music. This drives me mad as when I try and phone it's usually engaged. So a number of times I've missed a good band and the BV has missed out on my custom. Sorry to moan but it must make sense to have an up to date gig list on the website.

A pinch and a punch for the first of the month and I ended up in The Brandling Villa in South Gosforth after a morning full of gym and boxing training, I had only popped in for a lemonade to quench my thirst but I’d clocked the food menu and the rest was history. I’d spied the Pancetta Double Cheese Burger and the 5pm Friend Fixer sharing platter on the menu, my stomach instantly rumbled as if telling me to order these in. Absolutely first class customer service, the nice lady serving from behind the bar highlighted that there had been some slight menu changes and even checked if I had any allergies, I don’t recall ever getting asked this whilst dining out before? Looking back I do regret my cringeworthy joke reply about being allergic to people, but blushes spared, she did laugh out of politeness. Food came within good time and was absolutely amazing, and that’s no word of a lie or exaggeration here! I was truly taken back, amazed and impressed by the 5pm Friend Fixer sharing platter, the halloumi wedges and lightly battered cauliflower pieces were something surprisingly different and incredibly tasty, and I fully recommend ordering this dish, the burger was great too, from patties, cheese, bacon to bread bap, all pretty spectacular and beautifully presented, my compliments and gratitude to the chef. (Photos included) The venue itself, a nice ‘Ye olde English pub’ decor, wood floors, wooden tables, comfy sofas, spacious in lay-out and there’s even board games on hand to help distract you from fiddling with your phone. The Brandling Villa is a bar for everyone basically with a good selection of drinks on offer, it’s even dog friendly and a vast improvement on what I can remember about it’s previous incarnation. I couldn’t fault the service nor can I praise them enough, genuinely friendly, considerate and attentive, I mentioned I was struggling to finish my 5pm Friend Fixer platter whilst ordering another pint of lemonade and was offered a doggy bag to take home what I couldn’t manage rather than waste what was left, I mean now, what’s not to love about this sort of customer service? Full marks awarded. Would I recommend The Brandling Villa in South Gosforth? Definitely and twice on a Sunday, a very decent venue, with lovely staff and absolutely banging food!

Pub is very smelly and very old inside. Definitely deserves a good renovation. It’s great location but it’s very bad inside.

I’ve been drinking in the brandling on and off for about 7 years now but recently it has become my pub of choice. Mint staff, unreal food, nice beer, good music, dog friendly and a great atmosphere. I’m arguable spending too much time in here but I can’t keep away! 10/10 would recommend

We came here for lunch while visiting my son knowing we’d have our dog with us we looked online to find a dog friendly place to have some lunch and I’m so glad we came across this place. Right from walking in the atmosphere was friendly, the menu is good with plenty of choice and I absolutely love the fact that there was a separate menu so our dog could have lunch with us. I’m not actually sure who enjoyed their lunch more, us or the dog!! I really wish there were more establishments like this, next time we visit our son we will certainly be back.

El menú estándar tiene que ver con hamburguesas y papas fritas cargadas que son increíbles.Hemos estado yendo a Brandling Villa durante muchos años, pero nos mudamos a una ciudad diferente hace 6 años, así que esta fue nuestra primera vez en varios años. El único inconveniente es que ya me tienen la hamburguesa Aled Jones, ¡trae de vuelta Aled! !

No hay medidas reales contra el covid.No hay señalización clara en cuanto a las entradas y salidas, no se aplica ningún sistema unidireccional, no hay control de las personas que entran, no hay instrucciones del personal. Aplicación para bebidas en la mesa, pero las personas están permitidas en el bar, por lo que no tiene sentido, el personal usó máscaras pero se las quitó para hablar con los clientes. Encuentre su propia mesa, que claramente no se limpia con regularidad, todavía de vidrio en la nuestra. Y en ningún momento nadie limpió ninguna superficie. Se supone que los inodoros son 1 en 1, no controlados y tontos, ya que pueden acomodar más y causarían colas no socialmente distantes. Realmente un mal esfuerzo para mantener a la gente a salvo. No volveré sin que PHE sea informado.

Visité anoche con amigos. Primera vez desde el cierre. La comida y las bebidas son tan buenas como siempre y el servicio es muy rápido y amable. Encontramos la aplicación para ordenar con un poco de confusión al principio, pero el personal fue útil para explicar y una vez que ordenamos, fue muy sencillo y las bebidas llegaron de inmediato. El pub estaba muy limpio con algunas cosas adicionales claramente en su lugar sobre Covid. Nuestra única preocupación era que nuestra mesa (en la ventana) estaba muy cerca de otros huéspedes y que otras personas se sentaban bien a un metro de nosotros a veces. Un gran pub al que he estado yendo durante algunos años. Menú peculiar y buena comida, personal amable y servicial y se admiten perros.Desde que reabrieron en julio debido a la pandemia, están haciendo todo lo posible para que sea seguro para su propio personal y para los clientes. Todos levantaron el pulgar.Todo esto por 11 que fue un robo.El pub tiene un gran ambiente relajado con una excelente selección de cervezas y el personal es muy servicial y está dispuesto a aconsejar sobre las diferentes cervezas. El joven que nos atendió parecía muy conocedor de todas sus cervezas artesanales y ales.Definitivamente vamos a estar de vuelta.

I used to have a soft spot for this place- used to bring my dog. Tried to meet a group of friends there yesterday. In the table there is a sticker saying you can wait for table service or order online. Ignored by table staff for 20 minutes; finally I ask and am told to order online. Which I try to do. The page takes my money but refuses my order. It’s now half an hour since arrival. I’m not happy and ask entitled waiter if there’s any way I can get served. Brushed off with “now you’re just being rude, mate!” Well, how about the rudeness of leaving someone without any attempt at service for half an hour? Avoid this place.

Absolutely horrific service and no apology. We initially waited an hour for our food. We had a table booked and it took 45 minutes for a drink, half of the food order was missed but miraculously turned up 20 mins after asking 2 different members of staff where it was. They can’t handle the eat in government campaign as only about 4 staff members to deal with so many customers and again no update to say sorry for the delay. When we left their was so many drinks on bar waiting to be given out. I understand COVID has slowed a lot of things down however I’ve been to many pubs where they provide bar service and it works with no issues.

I never write reviews. We went as a family of four to have a meal together and we also wanted to eat out to help the industry especially at the moment. The lady who served us shouldn’t be doing a job which involves service and dealing with people because she obviously doesn’t enjoy talking to people. The lady had short brown hair and from the moment we arrived seemed to go out of her way to make us uncomfortable and like we were doing something wrong.Had we booked ? , when we said no it looked like that was a huge inconvenience to her, we were sitting on the wrong table ( I pointed out that we were only sitting there waiting for the pub to open) . When I returned from the ladies my partner jokingly said to me he felt like he had to keep apologising for his existence to the waitress and I remember thinking that at least it wasn’t just me who found her rude and abrupt. The final straw was when I returned from the ladies and found out that my family couldn’t remember what I wanted to eat so I spotted the waitress who had finished dealing with another couple and I politely asked if I could add my meal when she had a sec and she rudely said sit over there and I’ll come to you as I’m dealing with this gentleman. That was enough for me and we all decided to leave as it was a very unpleasant experience. I think the lady would be better suited in an environment where she doesn’t have to deal with people.

Called in for a few drinks after having a meal nearby. This was our first post lockdown pub visit and I was very impressed with the layout and detail that has been put in place. Only issue for some of us is the need to download an app to order drinks as not everyone has a mobile. That said my daughter loaded the app and then had to buy all our drinks so a very pleasant surprise.

This is our local and we regularly visited pre coronavirus and seriously missed it during lockdown. We could not wait to visit when restrictions were lifted and it did not disappoint! Excellent online ordering and table service. Such a great local pub to have.

With COVID pub guidelines I thought I’d feel uncomfortable to go to a pub! However after I visited here I felt very safe and I’d like to say I prefer the new service! The online ordering is fast and easy to use! Well done guys absolutely smashing it

I feel four years is far overdue a review of this absolute beauty of a pub. The drink selection is incredible the food is off the bloomin’ map and the Korean/Japanese night during the week is awesome. It is everything I could ask for in a pub, I feel lucky to have it 10 minutes walk from my front door in Longbenton. Wonderful place.

Absolutely exceptional boozer. Staff could not be more helpful and friendly and the food and patter couldn’t be better. Thank you for reopening and restoring my sanity during this mad time. Nos recomendaron visitar aquí un local para comida y cerveza kraft decente. Definitivamente no decepcionó! Gran menú y gran selección (masiva en realidad) de cerveza! Genial ver a un pequeño rebelde a la venta. Como habíamos viajado para un bautizo, decidí reservar para el sábado. Aunque estaba súper ocupado y habían cerrado la cocina temprano, ¡la habían mantenido abierta para nuestra reserva! Personal encantador y servicio amable. Recomendación local para visitar para el almuerzo, teníamos a nuestro perro con nosotros y este pub tiene la reputación de dar la bienvenida a los perros. This pub has a very unique funky menu. I would recommend going for the experience. It is reasonably priced for the quality and size of the dish you get. There have a incredible range of unique alcohol and non alcoholic drinks from around the world. The interior is original and funky to match the menu. A perk is that dogs are welcome. Would go again.

nightmare few days lately i was hoping this would save the day... got cheesy mash and mushy peas... couldn’t have been better! ten points to the chef, ten points to lola the barkeep, can’t grumble at nowt here always a gold standard service and could not have improved on the food 1 bit... if you think you’ve had a better pie i think you’re lying through your back teeth! oioi

We have passed this pub on many occasions, but never ventured in. So we decided to call in for lunch, the pub has a real original feel but with some nice additions. The bar has a fantastic selection of real ales, and craft keg options. We sat down and looked at the menu which is unique in the way its set out and have some variety in the content. I opted for the Chilli Hotdog, my wife selected the F&B Northern Fried Crispy Chicken in Tacos, service was prompt and the food was presented good and the quality was excellent. We both enjoyed our meals and drinks and we will be certainly coming back soon to sample other offers on the menu.
