Went to the Poachers to see Copperhead Great band.

Toda la experiencia no fue lo que esperábamos, con una serie de colas y largas esperas que no hicieron que pasara un tiempo relajante. A la llegada a las 11. 55 am para una reserva de 12 del mediodía, nos dimos cuenta de la larga cola que se extiende desde la puerta hasta el aparcamiento. ¡Qué extraño que la gente estuviera haciendo cola bajo el viento y la lluvia en lugar de esperar en sus coches! ¡Ay, estas eran las astutas que sabían cómo funciona! Nos unimos a la cola cuando las puertas se abrieron a las 12 y se nos mostró a nuestra mesa a las 12. 05 pm. Después de echar un vistazo muy rápido al menú fuimos a pedir comida al bar a las 12. 10 pm. No llegamos al frente de la cola del bar hasta las 12. 25 pm. Después de ordenar y pagar, estaba de vuelta a nuestras mesas para esperar por la comida que finalmente se sirvió a la 1. 10 pm. 70 minutos después de nuestra reserva y exactamente una hora después de que tratamos de ordenar. Para cuando llegó nuestra comida, algunos de los clientes astutos/habituales antes mencionados habían terminado dos platos y abandonado las instalaciones. Así que realmente vale la pena pararse bajo el viento y la lluvia para acercarse a la parte delantera de la carga a la barra para ordenar. Cuando llegaron los alimentos recibieron críticas mixtas de nuestro partido - el consenso general es que era bastante promedio, pero esto era quizás lo que se podía esperar dados los precios relativamente baratos. Fue decepcionante que el pub no tiene salsa de rábano picante para acompañar las cenas de carne asada - nos pareció bastante extraño. Vale la pena decir que el pub estaba muy ocupado, así que claramente sirve bien a su mercado. Pero pasar una hora de almuerzo el domingo en varias colas y soportar largas esperas en la mesa, especialmente con niños pequeños hambrientos para entretenerse, no era lo que teníamos en mente. También - nos dijeron a la llegada que teníamos que desalojar la mesa antes de las 2 pm. Para cuando todos terminamos nuestros almuerzos no había tiempo suficiente para considerar un desierto.

Always love the food from here, seems very traditional and home cooked, none of the frozen veg, always greeted and lovely staff, quite quick with food.

Just not the same. Used to be a favorite.

Pretty grubby tired pub in need of some brightening up. Staff need a bit of training, I came back to the bar having just picked up a glass of red wine having noticed a huge lipstick stain on my glass. The barmaid without apology took my glass and poured the wine into a fresh glass and handed it back! I told her I didn't want the wine and asked for a fresh one as its been in a dirty glass. She couldn't quite grasp why she should do this until one of her colleagues told her to ditch it and pour a fresh one.

Great food, friendly staff reasonably priced.

Good old fashioned comfort food.

Amazing place with amazing staff and out of this world food not expensive aswell the specials that aren't on the menu are amazing and change daily I had the mighty burger that was 18oz of meat with chips and salad for only £12! They also have great bands on occasional Saturday nights and a live acoustic singer every Sunday!

First class. Lovely service and cracking value pub grub. Thoroughly enjoyed the mince and dumplings.

Amazing food. Had the chilli loaded nachos for starter. Loaded with cheese , and chicken Tikka for main. Food was so nice and filling..proper home cooked food

This wonderful pub has the best food and welcoming staff of all the pubs we have visited, we have been going here for years, Our parents went here before us and we will always visit regularly as the staff and owners are fantastic , the meals are out of this world and fab value for money, The whole experience of having a meal here is just relaxing and so enjoyable , staff are always efficient and friendly. cant recommend this place enough . Food is delicious my favourite is dumplings. They are huge and soft. Prices are very reasonable. Waiting time is a bit too long sometimes

Este hotel está situado en la localidad de Callerton, a las afueras de Newcastle. Un aparcamiento de buen tamaño con algunas bahías para discapacitados. Fácil acceso para los usuarios de sillas de ruedas. Baños para discapacitados. En el menú hay opciones vegetarianas y veganas también sin gluten. El personal es muy bien informado y sería capaz de discutir y aconsejar. Hay dos opciones sin alcohol, Guiness cero y Peroni. Pedimos una comida del menú principal, yo tenía el picadillo y los dumlings con verdura y patatas nuevas, muy bien cocinados con los dumplings suaves y sabrosos. Mi mejor mitad tenía los scampi con patatas fritas guisantes y zanahorias. Había media libra de scampi. Dos comidas muy buenas disfrutadas. Estoy deseando volver a visitar este interesante lugar.

Standard bar meals, quiet location with ample car parking. No customer WiFi !

Generally I like the place but the prices have gone up and the quality has gone down. Last time I was there the mince and dumplings were served in a small bowl on the plate itself, clearly recently reheated in a microwave. By the time you decanted the dumplings, the portion of mince I was left with was minescule. The dumplings themselves don't appear to contain any suet it seems, the last few occassions I had it they were dry and unpleasant. Used to get cracking meals every time, now it seems like it's pot luck. Another thing, there's always smokers at the entrance, they should be stopped and moved elsewhere.

Estuve aquí un par de veces ahora y nunca me decepcionó, me encantan las patatas fritas hechas en casa, pequeño bar acogedor agradable, el personal es amable.

The best chips in the area. Lovely food.

Disappointed with service, there wasn't any. I no the food was brought to the table but every time we wanted to order we had to go to the bar and pay individually after every course and for drinks. There was four of ys and we just felt that we couldn't get settled. Up for starters, up for main and up for dessert and of course fir drinks. We don't think we'll be back.

Great meal here today. Superb location, hidden gem. Try it out guys!

Haven't been for a long time as it was great when I used to deliver here ,good food piping hot ,tasty & big portions will definitely be back ,I had the burger & the wife had the scampi with onion rings ( lots of them) plus pepper corn sauce very tasty well done the poachers cottage 👏🏼

Worst meal I have ever had. Scampi, chips and garden peas. Very well presented BUT, peas were stone cold, although condiments were available on the table, a LOT of salt was on the chips so could not eat them, they were also limp and lukewarm. Now to the scampi. I have never, ever had scampi where I could not even get a fork in to spear it. Rock hard outside and tried only 1, which I scooped up. I could not crunch it easily so ended up bringing home for the dogs to play with. Did not have a sweet as next table had ice cream, which, although a large portion, was very soft and runny. They ended up leaving it too. 2 adults went, only charged for 1 meal which also included a pudding which we did not have. Appalling meal.

Have just left about an hour ago and have to say what a let down. First off our food took a lengthy wait which I can understand if busy...it wasn't..this was about 12.10...then when all 3 meals arrived 2 of them were freezing ..the veg all cold not even luke warm . Terrible as for the 3rd it was a sandwich so expected to be cold. Then we sat and waited for a waitress to come and ask if everything was OK which she had done for the other 4 tables but no we were never asked. £47 pounds on three meals and to say it was bad is an understatement avoid if you like hot food as you will not get it here. It gets a one from len ...avoid ...try the percy over walbottle instead ...the food is hotter but only problem is there isn't enough variety on their menu..but it will be hotter...it couldn't get colder than here that's for sure. !!!!Also would like to add woman who owns or runs this place got onto me about half hour after. She was not happy that I had posted also never once did she mention refunds or anything...not that I wanted but sometimes you have to take criticism to get better and this place deserved it...I'm not the only one that found this lady with a bit of a temperament....you have been warned .

Fantastic pub, the food is excellent & the staff are lovely.

Great food and service . Sundays do have a limited menu, settled for mince and dumplings which was amazing came out piping hot. Really needs WiFi as signal is terrible as loation is hidden in the middle if nowhere.

Food is decent enough, good selection of draught beers, ales and gin varieties. Could just do with 10% extra effort in the housekeeping stakes, clearing of tables etc. Left just a little too long for 5 stars.

Plenty free parking, staff friendly & helpful. Not had food recently but it looks very popular & busy. Loads of seating for live bands too.

Lovely meal, from ordering 10mins wait, I had the mixed grill, too much I couldn't finish it. My pal had Cajun Chicken which was also lovely.

I've never had a problem here with food before but I came on Sunday 7th April for a Roast dinner and I won't be back for more. Completely tasteless, carrots especially bland, turnip lumpy, roast potatoes tasted fried, new potatoes a bit hard, cabbage watery and gravy not good. So disappointed as had Sunday lunch here a few times in the past and was lovely. Such a shame, don't know if there's a new chef but they need to get it sorted before they lose their regular customers.

Great food and service excellent

On my doorstep but never been before. Was definitely worth the visit. It has to be the best value for money pub in the local area. Had a Halloumi starter which was lovely and very tasty. Had black and blue burger for main. Good portion sizes. Burger very tasty. Although I enjoyed the chips, usually I'd have less of them but chunkier. I can't fault the staff friendliness. Drink prices also very reasonable in the current climate. I will definitely visit again.

Food absolutely beautiful,, presentation fantastic,big portions,,and amazing homemade chips,not frozen,my steak cooked t perfection,asked for medium ,, fantastic t get the old fashioned surf,turf(steak, scampi) staff incredibly friendly, especially dark haired young girl behind the bar,only it could do with a little spruce up, modernizing,,love the basket in the toilet with little toiletries, loved idea,used the body spray x

Mid week visit. Very busy all be it with students. It didn't take away from the vib of a busy pub.

Superb Sunday lunch ... Again. Beef melts in your mouth. Mash, roasties and veg all great. Good selection of drinks.

I have been coming to this pub for years & the food usually is good, but twice in a row I have ordered the lamb cutlets, pan fried, & they have been disappointing to say the least. It would appear that the chef is now grilling them to the point of cremation. The fat is blackened & so are the bones, so you are getting a mouthful of carbon, which isn't very pleasant. It is such a shame, as I have always promoted this pub, but cannot do so now.

We went out for a family meal. My nephew, has severe allergies. His mam asked if they could give her son chicken breast and chips. But the staff replied yes but you will have to order a main meal with noting on the chicken . As they could not cut a chicken up. My nephew was very upset being age 3. And had to have pasta with tomato sauce and chip. Which he did not eat the pasta.

We had to wait a short time for a table but that was fine. There were very few really healthy options on the menu. Between us we had scampi, steak and chicken. There were too many chips with each meal. The plates of food were huge but really a plate half the size would have been enough. Arriving after five o'clock we were too late for the lite bites, as a result we all left some of our meal. Staff were good, food was hot but too much.

Nice pub , pleasant staff and food was very nice ( mince and dumplings + chicken with peppercorn sauce ) . We will return.

Looking a bit tired and feels a bit unclean. Tables get wiped with dirty rags or something as they always have a stickiness when touched??

I went for lunch at the Poachers cottage today. I haven't been there for many years, I wasn't disappointed. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and great value for money. I was over the moon to discover they sell decafe coffee, as many pubs don't. It was delicious. The little mint chocolate served with the coffee was a lovely touch. I really enjoyed my visit and hope to be back again soon. Thank you so much!

Today was my first visit to The Poachers Cottage. Staff were lovely, food was amazing. Prices for food and drinks were extremely reasonable and the coffee was lush. Highly recommended. I will be a regular at this lovely friendly establishment. It is so nice these days to feel you have had value for money. Thank you.

On one of the reviews, it complained about the food and the decor. I totally agree. The party of 14 people all ordered that the same time. But the food was all over the place coming. The main meal started coming out before some haven't had their starter. The table and floor in the conservatory was filthy. Your arms stuck to the table. The children were running around with no shoes on. Then it was notice that they socks had the imprint of their feet from the dirt from the floor. This place need to get it act together and give it a dame good clean with hot water and detergent.

Amazing Sunday lunch roast beef was delicious good portion lovely staff best book though we got there 11.50 and Que was about 30 deep my partner wasn't too impressed with his large meal wasn't happy I had more roasties than him lol definitely be back😍

Sunday lunch was nice. Turkey not the best. Everything else was tasty. Waiting time ridiculous. 30 minute wait for main and 35 minute wait for dessert.

Love a pub that has live bands on. The drinks are average priced for a pub. The staff are always lovely and friendly, and serve you quickly. Always enjoy our nights there.

My family took me here 22nd sept, it was wise reserving a table ,, in a quite area ,, , mince and dumplings were lovely ,, brought some home ,wasnt going too waste it, the young girl server was lovely ,cant wait to go back ,, im from burradon near killingworth ,,, canny hike away but my family who live in westerhope picked me up

Lovely food but 2 of us had a chicken dish which was cold and we ended up with a bad stomach and diarrhea! Everyone else enjoyed theirs with no problems.

Food plentiful and tasty as usual. And praise where it’s due; a (we think) new, young lady working the last couple of times we’ve been in, a lovely staff member who was attentive and very friendly, a definite asset to the team!

Arrived en masse for a friends surprise birthday party. Shall we start with the positives ? Lovely young lady behind the bar who was friendly and efficient. Buffet very nice, plentiful and a good variety. The negatives - the conservatory ( according to their own website) sits 50 comfortably and there was probably a couple more than 40 of us, including about a dozen children and babies. Not enough paper plates or napkins, but told by a very rude staff member " you're not getting any more - you booked up for 40, you get 40 plates " 😯 asked if we could have a couple of chairs from the bar, was obnoxiously snapped at with the same reply. This particular staff member kept opening the door, which led to all and sundry walking in and out of a private function to stand and smoke at the entrance, right next to the buffet table. The toilets were freezing, not particularly clean and it seemed that people ordering food got priority at the bar. Over priced "gun" dispensed soft drinks not price friendly for the designated drivers. All in all 5/10, but certain staff members need a few lessons in how to treat customers.

Absolute perfection as always! Never had a bad meal here! Friendly welcome on arrival, friendly waiting on staff. Good atmosphere, pleasant vibes, food out of this world! Home made everything!!!! Excellent value for money!

Have been here on numerous occasions and every single time the food has been delicious. The staff are really friendly and always check to make sure your meal is OK. Homemade proper chips are a bonus. Well done for keeping up the consistent high standard of your food.

I phoned to book a table a couple of weeks in advance and I requested a particular table which we like. I took balloons in a couple of hours before the meal and the staff kindly put them on the table ready for out arrival. Our food was delicious, service was friendly and we had a lovely night. Visited for the first time and it certainly didnt disappoint.The food was served piping hot , huge portions and absolutely delicious. We ordered a veg lasagne very tasty and satisfying,philly steak sandwich beautiful and onions rings which were huge. Highly reccomend a visit and will definately call again.

Can never fault this place. Service and quality are exceptional. Prices are still reasonable. Had the cajun chicken today and it was one of the nicest pub meals I've ever had.

This friendly pub never disappoints! Every time we visit we are met with a genuine warm welcome and lovely happy staff. The food is always fresh, flavourful, delicious and faultless! Vegetarian lasagne my daughters favourite is always piping hot, tasty and appealing to look at, the grandchildren had chicken nuggets and chips and peas, huge nuggets, pure white chicken and obviously homemade. I had the sizzling hot plate! Chicken and veg stir fry with a hoisin sauce! Amazing flavours! Served with half rice and half chips. My husband had the chicken curry with rice and chips, one of the best he’s tasted he said. The homemade chips in this place are second to none, they are crispy hot and always perfect! We love it here and always have a relaxed, enjoyable meal. Our favourite place locally! Well done poachers for your continuous consistency and high quality.

Booked for 15 people for a birthday we had a great spot in the conservatory very warm welcome and could not fault our food ( lamb cutlets ) best ever , terry was fantastic to accommodate us and serve all our food at same time the staff are 5star they were great on the night , we were rather loud with being about 15 of us laughing and chatting at same time but not 1 complaint , would highly recommend so welcoming and a great atmosphere

Previous visits to have this meal were great, a mass of tasty food. Today extremely disappointing small meal and chunks of material floating on watery liquid Sorry but this is not good enough The staff are extremely friendly and helpful.

Myself, my boyfriend and a friend went for tea and service was fab and the food was lovely. Staff were absolutely amazing. Martha was the best waitress and server. She was so polite, warm and friendly. She should definitely get a pay raise and be promoted. Lovely relaxed atmosphere to the place. 5 🌟. Thankyou so much for having us!

Booked a table for two at lunchtime for our golden wedding. Were not disappointed . We had a really good table reserved by Katy as one of us is in a wheelchair . All the staff were lovely . Ordered our food but misunderstood and ordered the courses together! We both had tomato and basil soup , fish and chips and tartare sauce and sticky toffee pudding and ice cream. Ver full! Should have ordered sweet later. Very hot tasty food . We had to rush off as our wheelchair taxi was due, Would like to thank all staff and hope to return soon. Thank you for a memorable meal.
