Sunday lunch for mothers day & wow , everyone in our party loved it . The ambience of the venue , the relaxed casual atmosphere & most of all the food were all faultless . Our group of 5 adults & 1 Bambino had 3 roast beef lunches & 2 had the cod fish goujons . No complaints at all & 5 clean plates , with plenty accompanying veg ( mange tout , cauliflower cheese etc ) left because everyone could not eat another morsel . Thank you to the waitress & front of house team & most of all to the kitchen staff & chef's for quality brilliant food . Will we be back ? , Hell yes .

What a great 2 night stay we had. Set in a wooded area with great views. The rooms are clean and certainly adequate. Paul the host is remarkable. He is so friendly and couldn't do enough for my partner and I top service throughout our stay. Fantastic

Lovely pub but really disappointed by the female member of staff serving who blatantly ignored us waiting patiently at the bar and deliberately served others who clearly arrived after us. Poor attitude and the pub deserves better quality of staff than this. Walked out and went to Tin of Sardines down the road - proper and fair service....

Staff are so friendly & helpful . This is a great little cafe & deli a short walk from the High Street - well worth the effort . The cakes & coffee are divine . The deli in the adjacent room is well worth checking out- their stock of cheeses made in the north-east is extensive. We will definitely visit again when next in Barney !

Lunch today, nice and quiet as 11 45 , so not many in and meals good portions staff very friendly and obliging as requested extra serviettes. Prices good only one problem salt was wet but would still go back as I use too much salt anyway and I could have asked for another salt seller. Have 6friends who lunch for each other’s birthdays so will suggest going here.

We visited for a lunch as part of a weekend away to the Embassy. Wow!! If you want a calm relaxed atmosphere where the food is very good quality for a very reasonable price, this is the place to go. Dietary preferences is catered for without any fuss. Fast friendly service adds to the experience. We will be returning here.

Called in on spec to celebrate a 89th birthday celebration Never been in this pub before but will definitely be going back. The staff were very genuine and friendly, the prices were very reasonable with a good choice of home made food. The place was quite busy for a Wednesday lunch time but we were served in good time and we all enjoyed our selection. Good choice of beers including one of my favourites Tetleys smooth…. Would definitely recommend this little gem

This retro looking cafe is something else. Came across by chance and so glad we did. Only went in for a cuppa and a snack, but when we saw the menu wished we had had a meal. Clean, not expensive and friendly staff plus they are dog friendly too. As seen on the police Drama Vera. Well worth a visit.

I will start with an overview of our group purely because I would like the staff/management & any other diners there on the day to remember us. A group of 19 old Harley Davidson riding friends visited The Niblick on July 7th. Our average age is over 60 and we have been friends for several decades. We had travelled for our annual meetup & a ride around beautiful Northumberland and we had booked here for Sunday lunch. The food and service was fine and no complaints there. However it all went wrong when it came to taking payment. Because we are all such old friends, we just divided the bill between us all and it came to £18 per person/£36 per couple. Most restaurants would have walked down the table with a card machine & took all necessary payments and kept track of everything, however they insisted that we all go up one by one to pay, which we did. One couple paid cash which caused a little confusion to the lady taking payments, because she had initially assumed it was going to be a card payment and she had to cancel the transaction and start again. Once everyone had paid the waitress said there was an underpayment of exactually £36. We all knew that this was not possible and that we had all paid our money & had proof on our banking apps and we had witnessed the cash being paid. We asked her to check the till, but she said this was not possible and it could not be done until the evening. Because we are not the sort of group that like a fuss or commotion one of us agreed to pay the extra £36 and the restaurant assured us that they would ring us the next day and arrange us a refund. They never rang us. After a week we had still not heard anything, so we wrote to the manager of the restaurant asking for an explanation and our refund. We again heard nothing. Hence my review. Dear Manager, did your staff pocket the extra £36 (as well as the £40 tip) that day or did you just get to keep it yourself? To future group booking customers, please keep a track of your payments because the restaurant/management clearly cannot!
