The best restaurants serving British food in East of England

Went to vanstone park to take our grandson to the train, as we got there too early we thought we would pop in to look at the Christmas decorations to maybe buy some, but as soon as we got inside we were stalked by two members of staff which made us feel very uncomfortable, so we left purchasing not a thing. If that the way you treat your customers good luck. By the way the two men running the train are lovely, and hopefully see them again on the Christmas Train, mince pies are a added bonus 😋.

Wonderful afternoon tea..very tasty cakes and delicious sandwiches..a pot of good strong tea too. Very thoughtful attentive lady host...lovely decor and relaxed atmosphere. We will definately return...one of the best!

Harrison and hoole staff are brilliant they are all great and friendly we will missed them soo much me and dad and my other half always enjoy food and drinks is lovely it’s such a shame they are closing bad move shutting it down we are gutted 😞😥😥

My recent business meeting visit highlighted the exceptional quality of their fresh food. The grilled fresh lobster, though small due to the season was fantastic. My wife thoroughly enjoyed the Dover sole on the bone, which really showcased the fish's freshness – I believe it comes from the owner's friend's boat. The panko king prawns with lemon were also excellent. Prices are fair for the fresh-caught fish selection, including Dover sole, skate, halibut, and sea bass. steaks are also very good . The staff were excellent. Would I return? Try and stop me

Lovely pint in a very friendly and cosy pub. Great selection of cask beers . Would definitely visit again when I'm up that way.

Found this cafe and it’s a little gem. Wide arrange of tasty dishes including specials, staff very friendly and attentive. Best cafe around.

What can I say- went to this place as a final farewell to the last resident at Burman House....granted there were several of us but we had not intended to stay long, apart resident and chaperone, were told they couldnt accommodate us and that basucally we would be in the way...people bang on about keeping it local...well let me tell you, not one of us would step foot over that threshold ever again even if we were paid

Friendly welcome, Sunday lunch time, freshly cooked cod, lovely and white, nice thin batter, with mushy peas! Portion size was perfect!

Smells like sweat inside and grease outside..

Called in on off chance. We were immediately made to feel welcome including our dog. My partner had a special cocktail for Valentine's, which was super, so much so, she had a second. We both had a starter which was excellent. Good selection of wines. Will definitely be back. Pubs like this need our support in these times.

WENT HERE FOR FIRST TIME FOR QUICK BITE FOR LUNCH, ORDERED 2 SAUSAGE IN BATTER AND LARGE CHIPS THE MEAL WAS WARM AND NOT HOT AT ALL SO WILL NOT BE WASTING MY MONEY GOING AGAIN.

This was literally a stones throw from where we were staying so on Monday night (after a lovely Chinese lunch in Witham) we had a "snacky" dinner from here of chips and gravy! The chips were freshly cooked so I had to wait 5-6 minutes but this was not a problem. It certainly looks very clean inside and the food was good and tasty.

Although my previous visit was some while ago, this beautifully-maintained venue has not changed. The environment, the service, and the food on my recent visit was as good as ever.

New landlords only open a week. seem friendly and I shall visit again. Although I do miss the wholesome lady who used to run the pub.

Dropped in here today to have a drink & a bit to eat whilst having a debriefing meetin with a colleague, i had a frappe & panini, The staff were friendly & smiling, always a good start, the place is relaxed & clean with ample seating, the frappe & panini were nice, wish they did a bigger frappe but thats my fault as i seem addicted to them during the summer,lol, We were able to talk without disturbing others & unlike some establishments like this they didn’t seat you so your almost on someone else’s table, the table spacing gave you your own personal space,
