Decided to give this pub a try as I drive past it everyday with my job . Landlady very friendly, food was fantastic I had the home made steak and ale pie , dessert I had jam Roly poly with custard , 2 big slices which had me well and truly stuffed , very restricted on the lager choice but then it is only a local village pub , but will be back

Came here with the Mr, kids and mother in law for a Sunday roast a couple of weeks back. It's a local pub so thought we would try what was on offer. The roast dinner was very average. Reasonable selection of vegetables of which you can go back for more of. Meat was lacking in flavour a bit and no stuffing! OK if you can't be bothered to cook but I probably wouldn't return on a weekly basis for the roast. I am very fussy though and hate frozen reheated substitutes. What the pub lacks with the food it makes up for with good friendly and helpful staff and a nice atmosphere.

The positives..... great friendly staff...well they were when we went! The food, well to be honest above average, but not very good!!! so good is the one I would pick. The food is most kinda certainly pub grub, with almost everything served with chips, peas and coleslaw!!!! The steaks, apart from the ones ordered rare, were all overcooked, especially the ones ordered medium rare, but then to be honest that happens in lots of places!!! No starters on offer, which is a shame. My meal which was a beef ale pie. ( Puff pastry topping) was to be honest very tasty....but would have been so much better if there was something other than chips!!!. So nice place, food was ok, price very reasonable, but unfortunately not good enough to take me back

We spent 20 minutes travelling to this pub and we were in plenty of time for their lunchtime food orders at just before 1:40pm, however the barmaid refused to take a food order as she said her boss was upstairs. Their published serving times for lunch are 12-2pm Monday-Saturday, but obviously that didn’t apply today (Thursday)!

Having visited this ‘pub / restaurant’ today, (arriving in the pub at 1338hrs) we were turned away on the basis they stop serving at 1345hrs…we pointed out that it was not yet 1345hrs but the bar tender could not find the owner, who does the cooking, so was unwilling to take our order. This establishment advertises’ food served’ from midday - 1400hrs Monday to Saturday…well not today it seems. We made the 20 minute journey based on the advertised opening times on the internet so we were not at all impressed when they turned out to be a misrepresentation of their actual times. We have been before but will not be back again!😡😡😡

When we entered The Woolpack we were warmly greeted by Michaela who then served us our drinks and showed us to our table. There were 4 of us dining at lunchtime today and at least two of us are fussy (yes that would include the author of this review, namely me) however, Sophie, our server, was an absolute star she was extremely helpful and attentive throughout our visit and nothing was too much trouble for her. Our food arrived and was piping hot, delicious and plentiful. So a big thank you to The Woolpack for a lovely and entertaining afternoon.

Nice location and lovely people, very friendly and good service, however, the Carvery was a great disappointment. The food had no taste, very lack lustre. The potatoes had no crunch and were hard inside. Vegetables were tasteless, the cauliflower cheese looked good, but again no real taste. Meat was very bland. So to sum up - Staff 8/10, Carvery 3/10 but the crackling was good 10/10.

Overall a nice pub serving good sized portions. We opted for the carvery which tasted nice, however, what upset me was that another customer who stood in the queue behind me, helped himself to the pork crackling using his fingers. Obviously this should not be happening, least of all because of hygiene. I did speak to the customer, but it was obvious he was a regular from the way in which the woman serving the carvery spoke to him.

It's not one of those gastropubs that you might find in North Norfolk - what you get is good pub food. The menu is fairly unimaginative with pub favourites dominating, fish and chips, gammon, steaks and the like, and some might think it a tad expensive. However on a dark and cold December night, the place was bright and light and warm. The portions were large and tasty and while the only cask beer on offer was Greene King IPA, it was pretty good. The best thing about the place was the service. The young ladies behind the bar were pleasant and efficient and had personality. I think it is well worth a visit.

There was a group of 4 of us who went to this pub last night for a meal. We were pleasantly surprised by the size of the meal portions, and the quality was good too. Although the menu isn't large, there is a great enough range so that you'll be able to find something of interest - and they have a copy of their menu on their website that you can look at beforehand. The pub itself has a cosy atmosphere, and the lady who served us (Jade) was nice and friendly.

Went here on Monday for a Ladies Club lunch. The main courses all arrived at the same time, nice and hot and plenty of it. The Hunters Chicken was lovely, served with plenty of chips and peas (I left the peas as I don't like them). Near me other ladies had plaice goujons, steak pie, cheese and broccolli pasta and they all said how nice it was. Half the plates were taken up with salad or veg or chips. The lemon cheesecake was really lemony. I hadn't been there for a while but we are going back next week as our friends are vegetarians and there is more choice for them at the Woolpack than in some local restaurants.

We have not been in here for a while but decided to give it another try. It was early in the week, and only 3 other people were in. We both ordered pies. The plates of food were very large but the food was not of the best quality in my opinion. The lad serving was friendly enough but the pub is rather outdated and really needs a bit of a makeover. I like old pubs but this one is rather lacking and not very inviting all. The surroundings do not have that " let's stay longer" factor for me.

Fourth time I've been here for a meal, and fourth time I've been offended by rude senior members of staff. The poor young girls working there are lovely but so terrified of making a mistake they can't do their job properly. The owner and her assistant is rude beyond belief. My friend ask if she could pay extra to swap a starter on the 3 course set menu due to dietary requirements , answer was a simple NO. The place was empty - no surprise. Soon as you've eaten plates are gone, next course is out , message clearly is pay up and clear off. Such a shame as this could be such a lovely addition to this area - but the owners ruin it. If you don't want to be in the business, sell up and let a proper landlord take over

Have visited before and always enjoyed, however menu had changed and every single child's meal was served with chips. My children do not like chips so asked the waitress if it was possible to have something else eg mash or new potato? Only to be told 'no' in a very rude manner, we do not deviate from the menu. For various reasons we hadn't eaten here for nearly a year but we ate here tonight on their 3course for £9.95 voucher offer. There's a restricted choice but it is good, garlic mushrooms or pate or soup, main course was 2 chicken dishes, vegetarian lasagne, scampi, sweets were chocolate fudge cake and 3 others I didn't notice! We both had the breaded mushrooms with garlic mayo and side salad, that was a meal in itself. Himself had scampi - a huge plateful of scampi, chips and peas and a bowl of tartate sauce. It was enough for 2 of us. I had chicken and bacon ceasar salad, again a huge bowl, lots of chicken, lots of bacon, lovely dressing on the salad and all covered in parmesan - scrummy! We cancelled himself's dessert as he couldn't face any more food. I managed warm chocolate fudge cake with ice cream - fabulous. Diet coke, lager and lime and a coffee all for £25. What a bargain. Service was just as good as before, very friendly people. On leaving we were given a voucher for a bargain Sunday lunch offer in June or July so I think we may try and get back again soon. Well worth a visit, they have quite a good 'normal' menu and they do pensioners lunches on Mondays which are just smaller portions than normal - thank goodness.

I have visited this pub twice in one week and whilst the food is what you would hope for in a pub menu and very good portions I can't help but feel that they let themselves down with the attitude of some of the staff. Last week I witnessed a customer being told that she could not have her Ceasar Salad without dressing "as Chef won't send it out without a dressing", the customer had chosen what appeared to be the only item without chips on the menu and surely Chef,if asked, could put the dressing in a dish for the customer to add as much dressing as she wanted. Afterall she was paying for the meal couldn't she have it as she wanted it?Yesterday we were booked to eat very early in the evening (6 pm) as we had our 4 year old granddaughter with us. She was given the menu and chose egg, bacon, chips and beans only for us to be told that that option was not available in the evening as Chef can't cook bacon on a busy evening service. We then asked if we could have the egg, chips and beans only to be told that Chef couldn't fry an egg because he was far too busy on a Saturday evening. There were at that time four other diners in the restaurant and surely the fishcake that was offered instead of the egg takes just as long if not longer to cook.It is such a shame that the very good food and beer are being let down by such a poor attitude towards paying customers. I feel that in neither case the customers requests should have been beyond the capabilities of Chef - if indeed he was ever asked if he could send out a salad with a separate pot of dressing or fry an egg.I shall, in future, drive past my local and go elsewhere to eat.

I had to organise a breakfast meeting for our team who are spread from Norwich to Peterborough and from St Neots to Sleaford. So I was looking for somewhere central. I had tried around Wisbech but without any luck. Some venues weren't right and some couldn't be bothered. I started to work my way from Wisbech towards Lynn. I saw the notices for Terrington St John on the bypass and thought I would see if there was pub on the old A47 who might fit the bill. I am so glad I did. The Woolpack is a little gem. The Landlord listened to my requirements and said he could do it within our budget. We arrived on the day with tea and coffee on tap. The breakfast was served buffet style and was plentiful and the very best. Many of the normally hard to please guys said what a good meal it was. I was thanked for finding such a good venue but that was the easy bit. The Woolpack made a success of the event for which I am very grateful.

We have used this restaurant many times whilst under it's current ownership. The food has always been good and plentiful and the service attentive but not over the top. Sunday lunch is excellent, especially if you're lucky enough to have a voucher. It was 2 for £10 but it's gone up to 2 for £12 prebooked (as at March '14) - still a bargain as it would normally cost £18. Very lean meat, a choice of turkey, beef and pork (I usually have turkey and beef) and a yorkshire is served then you help yourself to crackling, roast potatoes, mash and a variety of 3 or 4 other vegetables, gravy and the relevant sauces. We have sampled the pensioner lunch on Mondays for £6.95 - slightly smaller portions and also, with a voucher, the 3 course dinner offer (Fridays and Saturdays only prebooked) for £9. There's a choice of 3 starters, 4 main course and 3 sweets. With generous portions a 3 courses meal is tough to get through but someone's gotta do it! There's also plenty of parking both sides of the pub and it's on the main road so it's easy to find.

We came home with a great selection of apples and pears from the orchard, some we had not heard of before, they are all the same price by weight so you just make your own selection into a bag. We will be batch-baking apple-crumble for the freezer. They also have a nice butchery selection and local cheese amongst other edible. Not so keen about Gurneys the fresh fish shop as they didn't seem to want the custom they shut up early. The Fish and chip shop had a gluten problem which I will review separately.
