Great food and atmosphere very relaxing

Dropped into the bar, pre show, and the food was excellent. The bar staff were great fun. Went off to the show happy people.

We wanted to have some late lunch for Mother’s Day. We walked into speak to the hotel staff member on reception, who was too busy in the back room to come out and serve us for at least five minutes. She then appeared and served/spoke to the older couple behind us waiting. When she realised and had finished her conversation, she asked what we needed. We asked if there was any availability for food and she informed us it was either a set menu for Mother’s Day in the resteraunt or bar and they were only serving roast dinners. I asked if we needed to pre-book or if there was availability and she snottily said ‘go and ask in there’, gesturing to the bar. Not only was she rude, but I don’t know who she thinks she is to speak to people in such a manner and be so patronising to younger people. I complained to the bar staff member who apologised, but if I can warn anyone off the hotel and it’s vile elderly woman who works on reception I will do. I’ve stayed in some incredible places in my time, and this certainly won’t be one of them whilst she’s present at the establishment . Good luck to anyone wanting to ask a question here!!

Service was terrible..ignored by bar staff and then no one came to take our food order for ages.

A fabulous evening made all the better by Curtis & Ian, it is rare to find bar staff with a sense of humour in this town, but these two made our night! A great venue, perfect customer service, amazing cocktails, fabulous food, especially the lamb 🙃 highly recommended, we'll be back. Thank you guys 😊 🌟🌟

Fabulous energy from George and his companion. George is very knowledgeable about cocktails, and happy to demonstrate some flair skills which adds to the ambiance of the subtly classic wine/cocktail bar that's nestled within a lovely hotel. Thank you George, the white russian was delicious.

Only had a couple of drinks but was very nice atmosphere and staff were very friendly will definitely go again.

The Duke's is lovely. Attractive hotel with history: connections to Robert Walpole, Britain's first prime minister. Excellent service.

The set menu offers very good value - imaginative and well prepared food, with a good selection of options - between three and four per course. Friendly, helpful staff. Well recommended.

The Dukes Head is a large period hotel with a large beautiful tiled floor bar over looking the main square. You can park in there car park or right outside for a charge. They have period rooms from the 1600's or modern ones which are at the rear. The hotel interior is a delight, well worth a visit

We had half an hour spare on Sunday afternoon so called in. I was disappointed to see that they no longer sell cask ale, but we stayed for a coffee which was fine. The staff were pleasant and the place is stylishly decorated. There were some special lunchtime deals advertised which may attract us back again.

Second time there. Cozy place for drinks and food. Excellent service. It has become my favourite place in Kings Lynn!

Covid-19 has changed the way in which Masseys works on Sundays, but the food continues to be excellent, as is the service. The starters are always interesting and varied, while the mains cater for all, with a range of fish, meats and a small vegetarian selection. We felt very safe, with table well-spaced apart, and were very well looked after for the evening. Staff were friendly and efficient, and gaps between courses allowed for a pleasant conversation between courses, while drinks are enjoyed. We have never felt rushed, or that our table was required before we were ready to leave. I have no doubt that we will be back very soon.

Really enjoyed breakfast during our hotel stay. Asked for a fresh omlette to be cooked and it was amazing! Lots of choice, and food kept hot and refilled on the hot buffet.

On Saturday 12 October 19 my partner and myself popped up town for quick bite and as is normal the town was busy but we noticed the Massey and Co. restaurant within the Dukes head only had a few customers and plenty of free tables so we took a seat.We sat looking at the menu for about 10-15 min, no one came to ask for our drinks order so we took it upon ourselves and went to the bar and ordered our food and drinks and sat back down again. At this point there were about 4 other tables in use so we didn’t expect the wait to be long. After another 10 mins our drinks finally arrived a half pint and a sparkling water. We then waited and waited. After about 45 min and nearly and hour after we arrived we still had no food. Meanwhile several other customers had arrived and ordered. We inquired as to when would we be served and was told there was a backlog of tickets and we will be served soon. We wondered how there could be a back log of tickets when there was only 6 tables in use and most of them had been served already. At this point we realized they had forgotten our order but we sat expecting to be served next.When a customer that arrived after us got served we inquired when would we be getting ours, we was told it take longer because it’s cooked fresh. At this I wondered wasn’t it all cooked fresh anyway. Not sure how long they normally take to cook a steak and Stilton sandwich and a chicken and bacon sandwich but over an hour seems a bit excessive.The final straw was when another couple that only arrived 10 mins ago got their fish and chips served and we still had nothing. At this point we had had enough and left. If it had been busy we would have been more understanding but the place was empty. This is unacceptable service from a place we expect better of as it’s within the Dukes Head hotel premises.

Came here for dinner on a Saturday night. It is a bar within the Duke’s Head hotel. It was relatively quiet which was nice. The food was fine and they played decent music. The service was outstanding. Chantelle (our waitress) is an absolute credit to the place. Nothing was too much trouble. Would definitely return when in Kings Lynn.

Located in the Dukes Head hotel,pleasant decor and good food our visit was made exceptional by the service we received from Becky our waitress. Attentive,smiling,helpful and chatty. We will definitely return.

Coffee & Sandwiches.. (ok and a few Gins). Lovely presentation and superb sandwiches along with excellent table service. Absolutely lovely Thank you.

We eat here often. Live music most Fridays. Bar good, bar food good, restaurant menu available in bar. Staff helpful and attentive. James always looks after us and makes us feel special.

My husband and I are regular customers, sometimes coffee and cake, some times lunch.Whichever the service is excellent and the food great, I can recommend the omelets and the sandwiches are great to share if you just want a snack or one each if you have a good appetite. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff and if you want to eat in the lounge everything is served to you there. We had a family party last Christmas, there was 17 of us and we can not fault the food or service even though the were very busy.

Visited this evening, was greeted by the Manager who was very attentive. Table service, meals were perfect, Staff were lovely and helpful.

Nicely decorated with comfortable seating and very helpful staff. There was plenty to choose from on the menu and the food was delicious, well cooked and good value.

My husband and I liked the look of this place inside and out. The menu was disappointing so I had a prawn sandwich instead of a lunch. My husband had a steak sandwich in ciabatta. This had been toasted so was over crunchy and he in fact didn't eat most of it. The food wasn't to the standard of the decor.

My wife and I called in for a pre-dinner drink. I ordered drinks, one of which was a diet coke. The barmaid poured the flat remnants of an already-opened, half-empty bottle of coke into a glass then opened a fresh bottle of coke and topped the glass up with that. Clearly that's their policy with left-over drinks. Do they really think that's the way to run a supposedly high-end cocktail bar?

Seven of us went in here at 5.30 p.m. on a Sunday before a show at 7.30 in the Corn Exchange. We were the only customers when we arrived so assumed service would be quick. There was only one man in the bar and he only came over and took out order for drinks when we asked him. We said we would be ordering food but he did not come over to take our order for another 20 minutes. We then waited for half an hour for six burgers and a salad. We had finished eating our mains at 6.55 p.m. so asked if we would have time for dessert. The waitress assured us they would come straight out so we all ordered dessert and the bill at the same time. Just as well we did as the desserts didn't arrive until 7.15. We had 10 minutes to bolt them down and then ran over to the Corn Exchange and got in just in time. The food was actually very nice, especially the desserts, but the kitchen is terribly slow. If there had been more customers in there eating I don't know how long it would have taken. The decor is very nice but I would not return because of the long wait for food.

At £10 the two course set lunch can't be faulted, imaginative menu and high quality cuisine: I had a turkey roulade, wrapped in bacon with walnut stuffing, cabbage, heritage carrots and carrot purée, potato croquette and a delicious jus; followed by a rhubarb with wonderful crumble which contained oats and nuts and a touch of spice, accompanied by custard. The restaurant is delightful and the staff excellent -perfection.

Beautifully designed and great cocktails! Nice to go to either pre dinner or in between venues. Hope this place takes off and it gets the right clientele as it’s a great place to drink!

This resturant is in an hotel but is well presented, the service is good and the food was excellent. A good range of choices presented attractively. Particularly good value if hotel guest as they get a discount.

Massey & Co is a welcome addition to King's Lynn and has it's good points. The staff are pleasant and helpful, the menu is acceptable, on the whole, as are the prices. I have to say that the scones served in the afternoon are not of the best and I find it hard to understand why an almond croissant needs to be liberally dusted with icing sugar which then transfers itself to your clothes as you eat it. However for me, and for several others with whom I have visited the venue, the intrusive and unnecessarily load music in the bar area spoils the whole experience. I do realise that I could go to sit elsewhere, either in the main lounge or the smaller one opposite to the bar, but as you have to order in the bar it seems a step too far, especially as I am disabled. Please do think about changing the background music if you really feel that you need to have it.

Great to have a bar selling quality wine and cocktails in Kings Lynn. Comfortable seating and generally a nice atmosphere. Would have given it a 4 but have too often had to wait to be served for ages even when I'm only person at the bar. Staff need to at least acknowledge that you are there while they are busy making coffee for guests elsewhere in the hotel. Also need more than one person on the bar as an order of cocktails necessarily takes ages leaving other punters waiting far too long to be served

We visited Massey & Co as a new tastecard venue and were very pleasantly surprised!

Friendly but shabbily dressed staff apologised for lack.of full range of hot drinks. Quite expensive drinks in pleasant surroundings.

Ordered a drink advertised as non-alcoholic on the menu, drank half and then found it did have alcohol in when I read the bottle. This needs amending, particularly for people who are driving home.

Staff were friendly and we enjoyed our evenings there after busy days with family . Very relasing would recommend.

A wide choice of beers, wines and some excellent cocktails. A lively bar without being overly crowded. Pleasant background music creates a vibrant and friendly atmosphere.

Lovely cocktail bar, classy decor and lovely cocktails, nice place to go pre dinner or pre night out.

Ordered 4 drinks on arrival, 2 cocktails a beer and a glass of wine. Waited over 40 minutes for drinks to arrive after asking two members of staff if they were coming. It wasn't busy at all the night we visited. The bar was better situated where it was before with better service. If you want to pay over the top for drinks and not get a good service then please visit.

Kinda pricey for drinks. Have been twice, but the second time we went, the doormen turned us away saying that the bar was full... Even though we could see that it wasn't that busy inside. Disappointing end to our evening.

Great place for tea and cake or lunch during the day, or a nice cocktail bar in the evening. We did both, had the Afternoon tea which was delicious and huge. Then cocktails and drinks in the evening, very nice ambiance, buzzy without being crowded.

Myself and husband thought we would end our evening here, what a bad decision that was!!

The good points first. Great venue, nice interior. Very poorly run. The previous manager ran the bar well. Since his departure it's like a nightclub with the dress code being forgotten about. Shame. A real shame.

Out with a friend we spotted Massey & Co whilst walking past and there was some live music playing with a guy on a piano which we thought was nice so went on in. The interior is beautiful, although it didn't seem like it had a lot of people inside there was no where to sit, we stood at the bar for a few minutes and someone left a booth so my friend sat down. It took a further 5 minutes to be served at the bar as there was just one round lady serving, she took our order and said that she'd bring the cocktails over. It took 10 minutes for the drinks to get to us and then there was just one. When I asked about the other she said that she'd accidentally spilled it and there was another on its way. I would have appreciated being told that rather than have to ask. Mine followed a few minutes later.

I'm not sure where to start. It's ok for atmosphere, service is ok also. I've been coming here since the beginning and wanted to see how it would developed but I feel I need to now leave a review. The drinks are expensive, I wanted cristal champagne but they had none, I wanted dom champagne and again nothing even though menu stated it was avaliable. The manager of hotel is always about chatting but only to important people. The others work hard like the bar staff but never him. I run a large company and would let him go. I come weekly but I never get loyalty! As soon as a nice place opens I won't return. It's such a shame!

Having been quite excited of the idea of cocktail bar being opened in King's Lynn I have to say we were left disappointed. There seems to be little in the way of atmosphere, perhaps due to the pretentious decor or the type of clientele it wants to attract. The cocktails are nice but overpriced and the staff are not the most attentive, until a complaint is raised of course. The time taken to prepare the cocktails is too long, I appreciate they are prepared from scratch but the number of customers in at the time really didn't justify such a wait! The Dress code also needs to be clearer....dress to impress?? I'm allowed entry wearing jeans and army boots yet my partner can't wear dark trainers?? I have to say I looked scruffier that he did!! Although no issue with this had we have been residents. Anyhoo - potential there indeed but I think there are better venues in King's Lynn offering more comfortable surroundings and are a lot friendlier on the purse.

I had seen bad reviews since opening so thought I would hold back to allow time for Masseys to iron out any problems.

This place is incredibly over priced. Lovely surroundings but £23 for a double gun and tonic and a double tia Maria and Coke complete rip off! Will not be going back again!!!

A smart move by the hotel to change to this bar instead of the previous bistro. Lovely atmosphere and good lighting, comfortable seats and the cocktails were great.

After living close to Kings Lynn for most my life I was excited to see a new cocktail bar open.

Recently visited during the opening of the Bar and Lounge, the staff are in the middle of finding their way. Plan on sitting in the bar for prompt service, you can get forgotten if you move further into the Dukes Head lounge area. I

I've visited 3 times this week in the hope of this gem coming alive. The venue is great, you can see the business has spent some real money. This could be a bar in a 5 star hotel in London! However the attractive staff are painfully slow. Drinks even on a quiet day take far to long and this is a shame considering it's not a cheap place to come compared to other establishments in the area. The star in the place is Akim, Michelle and the receptionist who are so helpful and always great you with a smile and a welcome. I'm sure in time things will improve. Oh and finally please do we need a disco in the bar? Mellow music yes but a nightclub beat loud isn't great when discussing business or a friendly chat.
