We had a Sunday carvery with two drinks £23:50, you are given a table buzzer which will call you when its your turn to get your food, service was prompt, staff polite, tables and area clean and tidy, and the food was good, and typical to be expected, based on the price, service, and the carvery itself which included 3 meats and the usual vegetables we give this a solid 4 stars, would go to 5 if the roast potatoes were not so soft. We will be returning.

Food was shocking , web site is a problem to get on ,was misinformed about menu for vegan/ veggie, so we only had a choice of curry or curry, really annoyed with the information given will never go back , our guests had steak and meat pie, bother was full of grissle, also covid precautions wasnt being treated seriously, you could walk out the entrance only door people smoking right out side door, nobody left by the exit door ,they need to take this more seriously, I would give this a wide birth.

Booked a table, on arrival no table had been reserved, waited half hr to be served a drink, by which time we were then asked to pay upfront for carvery and drinks. Waited a further half hr before we were called up for the carvery. Totally pointless making a reservation. We were number 3 in the queue supposedly yet it took an hour to be fed! Personally I was ready to walk out but that's where they have you cos of the upfront payment. Another couple did walk out as they were kept waiting so long also and didnt even get offered a drink. Food v nice when we did get fed although I did find a couple of hairs to accompany it which were not mine. Lots of young staff loitering around with walkie talkies with no clue as to what they were doing. I wont be going back.

It was our first visit for some time and the place has been spruced up, especially the outside. They have a good system sorted out for these strange times and it felt clean and safe. The menu consisted of pub classics and I had a pretty nice burger. No cask ale when we visited, but I think that there usually is. The staff were pleasant and it is worth dropping in if you are passing.

We have visited here on a few occasions in July and August for special occasions i.e birthdays and just popping in for a Friday night tea / drinks. The staff are friendly, polite and very accommodating. The food is lovely and tasty with massive portion sizes, which we couldn’t finish for the want of trying. We were in attendance at the 50th birthday celebration which has been mentioned before, 100 people is a gross over estimation. There were no more than 30 in attendance to that particular party and the party goers were spread out within the conservatory area and outside in the spacious garden. The people that were close to each other were in the same families / bubbles. The pub has gels for hands available throughout and a one way system in place with a 2 metre distance barrier for the bar area and you have to sign in on arrival. Would recommend you try this and they have a fab farm shop and furnishings shop out the back which is well work a look!

Amazing pub, brilliant staff and lovely food !! Accommodated us for my mums 50th surprise party - no more than 30 of us due to Covid but we still all had a lovely evening ! All staff stuck to guidelines with social distancing etc, asked us all to stand behind the line when at the bar ordering drinks and kept distance when collecting empty glasses from tables - will be going back again definitely! Thank you to all those at the winch!

This is our local Pub and have been to support our local business for family meals but also my best friends 50th birthday. This was within Covid guidance and held in separate area where we could socially distance when eating and outside area used too. Hand gel available/entrance/exit all marked and clear guidance for toilet facilities. The tables did feel sticky however this was due to the disinfectant used to clean tables/chairs and wipe able menus. Pub is always clean/well furnished and decorated. The Manager and staff were friendly and couldn’t ask for a better service. We felt safe especially as some of us are health professionals within the NHS. Always enjoyable.

Very accommodating to family of 4 with 3 dogs.Food great value for money.Friendly staff and good layout for social distancing.Personally I’m not a vegetarian, but I had the Brie, mushroom and cranberry wellington with sweet potato fries and salad, and suffice to say, I was not disappointed! It was really nice and a recommendation from me!We went on a Monday evening, as they had other prebookings as well as ours, so yes it was quite than what I would imagine it to be on a Friday or Saturday, but regardless, I felt safe to eat there under the restrictions with social distancing and comfortable. If I were to be in the area again, I wouldn’t hesitate to go back.

Great customer service but was very let down by the quality of food. Ordered sausage and mash and was stated to be Lincolnshire sausages when they come didn’t taste like that, asked and was beef and pork. So was disappointed by this. Mash didn’t taste great and gravy seemed like re-heated carvey gravy, was very disappointed as the Sunday roast are usally good here. Also when getting a drink we had a hair on our glass this is not good in normal circumstances but also with COVID-19. Staff had no PPE protection on eg mask or visor only thing they had was hand sanitizer when walking in on door and lines outside to que. no staff met on arrival had to walk in pub and order drinks/food at bar which thought was bad considering governments guidelines. Customer service was good considering and staff handled the situations well.

We went here for a family meal, and walked out before eating. The staff were rude and the place was filthy. Considering the current times (COVID) you would expect the place to have been thoroughly cleaned. The tables and chairs were sticky, when a couple of us went to get up from the chair our tops were stuck to backs of chair. There was a party in a larger part of the place, of approx 100 people, having a 50th birthday party. No social distancing and no masks. Yet our table of 12 who are all family coming from 3 households were not allowed to sit together at a table and had to split into 2 groups of 6 with a large distance between us. The staff were rude The final straw was the sticky dirty menu’s, at this point we all decided to leave and have a local KFC. If they can’t clean the menus, tables or chairs I wouldn’t like to see in their kitchens.

We booked relatively last minute but were made to feel very welcome. Two adults and one child at the end of a sunny day, this meal at the Winch turned out to be a very pleasing ending. The pub and restaurant are beautifully decorated with a wide variety of objects adorning the walls to keep you entertained. It is a very Covid safe and customer consious pub and restaurant with clear signage and arrows to ensure everyone can enjoy their food and drink safely.Choosing from the menu, which offered all of the family favourites, we happily selected a lasagne and a fish chips. Little Miss went for mac and cheese from the children's menu. All came in good time and were plentiful. The fish was a very good size and the chips were fluffy yet crispy on the outside. The lasagne was again plenty and accompanied by fresh salad and garlic bread. The children's mac and cheese (with salad and garlic bread) was very big for a 5yo, but would easily fill an older child too. I'll never complain about there being enough.Service was very good from Em behind the bar and landlord Rick was, whilst busy, very hospitable ensuring that nothing was too much hassle. He made sure we were all happy throughout, whilst not being intrusive. The perfect mix. With 4 alcoholic drinks and a child's ice cream for pudding, the bill was about £35. For the generous portion size, very friendly welcome and peace of mind given this year's pandemic and it's changes to pubs etc, we were all very pleased and will very happily return again soon.Thank you very much.

Went out with the family for Sunday lunch and had been to The Winch a few years ago and had a top drawer Sunday lunch so thought we would go back! Bad choice!! The New owners aren’t a patch on the previous ones! One of the family had a prawn cocktail to start, a glass full of salad with 8 small prawns on top! Smallest portion I have ever seen. Then onto the roast, choice of beef, pork or gammon. I went for pork, the one slither that I was dished up was lovely but it would’ve been nice to have another slice! (Think the chap was going for the world record of how many slices you can get from one joint of meat) Vegetables....hmmm! Roast potatoes I imagine were the frozen variety as they were all perfectly golden all over. Not the sort you cook from scratch yourself! The veg wasn’t much cop either, soggy and tasteless! The gravy was salty too so overall not a good experience. Such a shame! Before my retirement I had many years experience of running a pub kitchen and know what’s involved in producing a good Sunday roast for lots of people. We had a very busy pub that did Sunday lunches in the hundreds every week. Please up your game and use fresh veg, roast your potatoes from scratch. Don’t be so tight with your meat! Take it from an old pro!
