My 3 kids and I visited from Ireland and just had the most amazing stay at the Briarfields. We were there for a wedding nearby and it was just such a treat to stay in such gorgeous rooms. We loved the standalone bathtub in the room, candles, and electric window shades. The beds were super comfortable and supportive, bathroom was spotless and all new modern fixtures. To top it off, the playground was a massive hit for all 3 (ages 8, 15, 19) and even myself and we all had a blast riding the ziplines each day. All of the staff were friendly, helpful and personable. Especially in relation to helping check on allergens in food for nuts and kiwi. Thank you so much! I really hope to be back someday.

The setting - nice The food - nice The service - appalling. Tables and seating area - untidy, tables not cleared and dirty. We arrived at 6pm as a walk in. Asked if they could accommodate us despite the restaurant being pretty much empty and were told we would have to eat outside. It was a nice being and there was a play area so we were happy to do so. We were told to order and pay at the bar when ready. No problem. Did that but things then unraveled. When ordering drinks and food my husband was asked “do you want that altogether?”which gave the impression that food AND drinks would come together. However, he (the manager) misconstrued this that starters and mains should be delivered altogether and didn’t fully qualify such a statement. So we expected standard service to be applied: starters, followed by mains. Not anything extraordinary. How wrong we were. Roughly half an hour later one main and child’s order arrived. As we expected our starters starters to arrive first we questioned this and were then told by the very obviously untrained young waiter that everything was just on the pass and waiting so it would all come together to which we said we didn’t want that. We also were not brought any cutlery - my 8 year old daughter ended up retrieving them because clearly the staff weren’t able to do that. We therefore asked to speak to the manager. He arrived roughly 15 minutes later and in the meantime our starters did come (and in fairness they were nice). He really was not equipped to deal with the complaint and very much passed the buck on to us with no ounce of apology or attempt to fix the situation - retorting back to his original statement that he asked my husband if we wanted everything together again and we said clearly wires had become very crossed. And when we said the basics of wanting implements to eat with should have been sorted, he said “well they’re near the door and I was serving behind the bar so I couldn’t sort it.” Not good enough, especially when the place was NOT busy so there was no excuse to not be able to manage the clientele which was present. God knows what the venue would be like of it was actually busy. Our mains eventually arrived some twenty minutes after we finished our starters and we were told my husband’s steak was freshly prepared and not the original oak steak brought first time. It may well have been but it was over cooked and greyed out. It had clearly been left on the pass until they decided to serve it. Please note the table had not yet been cleared of the starters’ plates either - the same young waiter asked if we’d like the empty plates taken away at that point. Yes of course! We didn’t bother to stay for pudding as we feared the same service and quality would be offered so we were not tempted. Instead we decided to go elsewhere where we were extremely well looked after (review to follow) and the Briarfields could well do with taking a lead from their book in terms of training their staff! When the food bill was in excess of £150 you tend to expect the basics to be covered but evidently not and not have to ask for them - this includes: being provided with cutlery with your meal! The only saving grace was the extensive play area for our children to use which kept them occupied during the wait for food. Would we return - not a chance. The food was good but when the service is poor, the whole experience is marred.

While we enjoyed our end of holiday family meal, I was very disappointed with the fact a 10% "discretionary" gratuity is automatically added to the bill was not brought to my attention. Result - I "tipped the staff" in cash, and unknowingly via the bill as well! None of us recall seeing anything on the menu (a simple sheet of paper) of this fact. I scanned the bill to check that the items were accurate, but missed the gratuity "aspect". The staff never drew this to my attention either! I accept that this was my fault, but it ruined the whole experience. Perhaps the hotel will put more emphasis on this aspect in the future?

Stayed for two nights in a deluxe room with my dogs. The room was lovely and comfortable and the bathroom had a fantastic freestanding bath so felt very luxurious. Treats and a dog walk map were provided for the dogs. There is a big field next to the hotel for exercising dogs which is a great idea. You can walk to Brancaster beach easily too. This is a truly dog friendly hotel! There's also a big play area if staying with children. Breakfast each morning was excellent and plentiful. We ate in the restaurant both nights and the food was great. Staff were all very friendly and welcoming. I have only put 4 stars because it seemed that they were short staffed in the evenings when we were eating in the restaurant so service was a little slow. Would definitely recommend Briarfields to anyone wanting a relaxing break on the Norfolk coast. Lovely rooms, great food and a fantastic location.

We have stayed at Briarfields many times over the years, as love the hotel, staff and cleanliness etc, but always just before Christmas. So whilst holidaying in a cottage a few minutes away in the Summer thought we would visit for dinner. As always we weren't disappointed. We both enjoyed Sweetcorn and Onion Pakoras as our starters. Followed by the most delicious Butter Chicken Thigh Curry served with a Chapatti. Ordered a side of Jasmine Rice, which it did need and thought could have been served as part of the main, rather than paying extra. For dessert we had a Sherry Trifle and Grasshopper pie, which was peppermint and dark chocolate. As always the food quality was excellent and staff service was excellent too, as usual. Can highly recommend and we look forward to our next meals and stay there.

I really like this establishment, we’ve Been a few times once for breakfast, which was really good! Once for a bank holiday event just for drinks and today for lunch. The food was good but not great, kedgaree arancini were good, chicken wings dry as well as the onion bargi burger. The steak was cooked well but unfortunately had grissle running all the way through it. The blueberry meringue was good, the brown sugar tart wasn’t to our liking/ strange texture and the triffle was nice. Overall a nice lunch but could have been better. £140 2 starters, 3 mains,3 desserts, We will certainly come again, maybe for an evening meal. The establishment itself is really nice, my son loves the owl park and always talking about it, and they have the most beautiful flowers in the court yard, the nicest yellow rose bush I’ve ever seen, smelled of sweet peaches 🍑

From our very first meeting with Rhiannon, where she was nothing but accommodating with a real 'can do' attitude, to the wedding day itself, the service was 5 star! The whole team worked cohesively to ensure that our guests and ourselves were extremely well looked after, the rooms are fabulous and the wedding meal was outstanding! The chef even made us a delicious wedding cake! We would thoroughly recommend Briarfields for a wedding or any celebration! The location, food and service are all just fantastic!

Member of a recent wedding party. Very impressed with overall organisation , professionalism and presentation throughout the day. The food was delivered hot , plentiful and the operation running smooth and slick. Side note, I personally lost a very sentimental tie pin ( needle in a haystack ) but on calling the hotel they sent out a search party and called me back saying that it had been found. The icing on the cake, highly recommended for an honest trustworthy and five star customer service the bride and groom must have been delighted with their day.

We had dinner bed and breakfast for one night at Briarfields. We had a lovely room (no23), spacious, comfortable and immaculate with an exceptional bathroom. Dinner was excellent. Everything was perfectly cooked, a great choice on the menu and so nice to have different options and not just the usual fare that most hotels seem to serve (we had the duck breast and the mussels). They offer a great cooked breakfast choice and we were especially impressed by the properly cooked tomatoes (which are very rare nowadays). All the staff were lovely. We'll be back. This is a great location for birdwatchers, right next door to RSPB Titchwell and very close to the Brancaster salt marshes.

Our group had two dinners in a private room. The first night, the tables were set up in a strange L-shaped formation which made conversation difficult for some. We had been asked to order in advance from their set menu with several complaining about the quality and presentation of some dishes eg unappealing Heritage tomato salad £8.50 and disappointing Malaysian curry puff £9.00 starters plus the tough 10oz Rump steak £26.00 and very fishy tasting Chargrilled swordfish £24.00 mains. I chose spicy Chicken wings as a starter £9.50 which were probably bought in as they were undistinguished but edible. My main of Fish and chips £17.50 disappointed as the haddock was not centre stage. Instead the batter dominated the dish as did the huge pile of chips. No matter that there were nice bowls of mushy peas and tartare sauce as accompaniments. Overall a disappointing evening. However the next night there were "specials" available which were so much more interesting and better presented. I had smoked haddock fishcake with a perfectly poached egg and delicious avocado cream sauce. Then a wonderful pot of very fresh local mussels in a spicy tomato sauce and excellent brown bread. This was a culinary revelation and enhanced the hotel food offering substantially, Breakfasts were cold buffet of fruit juice, cereals, pastries with hot food to order. First morning i had the FEB with two fried eggs and fried bread as a special plus bacon, black pudding and mushrooms - all arrived hot and well cooked, On the second morning i had two plump local kippers with lemon juice and these were simply outstanding. This is a mixed review of good and bad with the former outweighing the latter. I would like to have seen a more intresting standard table d'hote menu which showcased the kitchen's undoubted skills.

We went to Briarfields for the first time for Sunday lunch. We both chose the vegetarian option. The carrot and nut roast tasted ok, but there was a lack of vegetables. My husband had been given an adequate serving of cabbage, but the tiny amount on my plate would have easily fitted inside a desert spoon. I asked the waitress for some more cabbage, and this was brought to me. I did not feel that the meal represented value for money at £21.50 for a meatless roast (£16.50 + £4.00 for cauliflower cheese and £1.00 for a yorkshire pudding). In most restaurants these are included and not 'extras'. The only vegetables that were included were red cabbage and half a carrot. Desserts were ok but nothing special. When I paid I the bill the gentleman who took my payment said 'enjoy the rest of your day' or words to that effect, without even looking up from the card machine which felt scripted rather than a sincere comment. Unfortunately our experience doesn't encourage a return visit.

The evening meal was excellent as was breakfast - the chef is good without doubt . North Norfolk is an expensive area and when we return we will come here as the package for dinner bed and breakfast was decent value and the food was high quality. Even the dog got a sausage for breakfast . Only disappointment was the off road walking route to the beach was closed due to RSPB bird nesting protection - which can't be helped I suppose .

Our lovely daughter arranged surprise afternoon tea for our wedding anniversary. We were told to arrive at Briarsfield before 1pm for a surprise. The receptionist/manager ignored us when we arrived. A waiter finally acknowledged us and took us to our table, he didn’t know what we were booked in for nor did us as it was a surprise. So we ordered off the main menu. When we’d finished our meal and questioned payment a manager appeared, she said they had been waiting for us and the afternoon tea intended for us had been prepared. There were only 5 other people in the restaurant so can’t understand the manager failing to identify us. The option she offered was we could take the prepared afternoon tea with us, cost would come out of staff tips or they could use the food the next day. We chose to take our surprise home with us for later. We received 2 small carrier bags containing some small cakes, 2 scones which were rock hard, jam was in a miniature jar not homemade jam, there were no cream, no homemade sausage rolls, no sandwiches. The food we received was an insult on top of which was a customer service error. Our experience was handled extremely badly and unprofessionally. Our daughter works really hard for little money and it upsets me her kind thoughtful gesture for us was treated like this.

We came here after a traumatic event at a very nearby hotel, where we were staying. On wa.king in the atmosphere was friendly and it felt like you belonged there. As we had never visited before, we where unaware it was dob friendly, a lovely guest directed us to the bar. On enquiring about a table, we where shown to a nearby hoith by a lovely and very friendly young lady, she even made a fuss of our dogs. The drinks arrived and another member of the team greeted us warmly and made a fuss of the dogs. The food is amazing, great selection to choose from and all freshly cooked. The pork tacos were to die for, homemade with just the right amount of heat, they made your heart sing eating them. The other starter was salmon and this was rated just perfect. For mains I chose the venison burger with fries. The burger was delicious, perfectly cooked with some melted cheese on top, it was meaty and mouthwatering good, you just didn't want it too end. The fries where excellent, hot and crispy with just the right amount of salt. The seabass main, was cooked to perfection with wonderfully crispy skin. The lemon tart to finish was just perfect, buttery pastry with a rich tart lemon filling. The Chocolate Marquise was just the right amount ofchocolate, not too sweet or filling. It looked fantastic when served. Our dogs got a look in too with a treat of some homemade biscuit bones and they weren't short of admirers either,be that the wonderful staff or other guests. They really did enjoy being there, especially as they could watch the coming and goings. We will be back, not only to eat but to stay, as the dog friendly rooms look amazing Thank you for turning what started as a truly awful evening to a great one!

My husband & I called in for Lunch. Haven’t been for years and won’t be returning anytime soon. Nice restaurant & garden. Pity the food didn’t fall into the same category. My husbands Haddock & chips were overcooked & dry.

A very comfortable hotel. We chose Room 25 which has a view across the marshes to the sea. It is really spacious with a seating area, a walk in wardrobe, a large bathroom and a very comfortable bed. Alternatively, there are rooms around a very pretty courtyard. There is a lovely sheltered terrace for soaking up the sun or watching the marsh harriers and you are only a couple of miles away from some lovely villages and fabulous huge sandy beaches. The food was excellent and very good sized portions. The breakfast menu is extensive and the staff are all very courteous and helpful. We stayed for 4 nights and I have no hesitation in recommending Briarfields.

Disappointing lunchtime meal. Both starters and mains not very hot when they were arrived at our table. Having raised this issue with staff they were very apologetic and did adjust the bill by crediting the price of one starter and gave us complimentary coffees. Covid measures: Observation of the cleaning of tables after customers vacated their tables was a little concerning. Table surface was the only thing being wiped between customers. The salt and pepper grinders and chair backs were not wiped, both are frequently touched by customers and therefore possible risks for transmission of Covid-19. Based on my experience today I will not be returning to dine here.

We are staying the weekend at Briarfields and have just had the most wonderful dinner. The waitress was kind enough to let us try some of the wines prior to purchasing a bottle. The food was presented well and were delicious. Menu is marked up really well for dietary requirements including the wines marked as vegan. Looking forward to enjoying the rest of our stay!

I had a burger which was very nice, i really liked the onion relish, which i wasnt sure about at first, it did come in its own dish so if you didnt want it, you didnt have to. I swapped my chunky chips for skinny ones. My husband had fish and chips, which i did steal a mouthful of, and the fish was loverly and soft.

We have just spent the evening at the restaurant during our weekend stay at Brancaster, and we're all very pleased with my wife's choice. Without going into too much detail, all starters, mains and deserts were delicious. All waiting staff were very helpful, friendly and attentive. Even in these difficult times at present, there was still a nice ambience within the restaurant and bar area. Everything was reasonably priced, and I look forward to our return. Keep up the good work. Excellent!

A warm friendly welcome when we arrived for our quick break, the first since lockdown. The hotel is very clean and there is a is a sort of feeling of being COVID safe as there is lots of sanitiser throughout and a one way system that still feels natural and not akward. Although the dining room at night was very warm and stuffy with the absence of any fresh air and the curtains were closed feeling a bit claustrophobic. The staff are very helpful, friendly and professional. We even had the offer to use the tumble drier as my daughters jeans had got wet. That was really thoughtful. The food was delicious and even when it got busier the service was prompt. The portions are generous. The room was a good size. Even with the sofa bed down for our daughter there was enough room. There is a nice sized bathroom with a level access shower and there was a bath. Generally we had a really lovely stay.A couple of points to consider would be that we needed an accessible room which this was and was great except for and the doorway was not level into the room or out of the hotel into the garden which was akward for my husband to get in and out of using his wheelchair. Diner was lovely but the curtains were drawn which felt a bit oppressive. Perhaps Venetian blinds would be a better choice? Regarding COVID it would of made me feel better if there was air circulating such as an open window and curtains open. I do understand the need to balance keeping people warm but feel it was extremely warm at diner time. These are just points and overall we had a really nice stay. Thank you to you all.

We had fairly high hopes due to trip advisor reviews. Sadly we’d definitely not return due to a few issues during our recent lunch visit. And we subsequently cancelled a future evening visit we had booked later on during our stay. We popped in for a light lunch, we had our dog with us and was was fully prepared not to be seated in the main restaurant. We sat on some sofas as this was the only available seating, which wasn’t a problem. Our first issue was a very lengthy period of time that we had to wait to even be acknowledged by a staff member even to say they’d with with us shortly. Our seating position was in a clear walk way of many staff members, who all unfortunately Ignored us for quite some time. Eventually our drinks order was taken and another painful wait ensued for taking our food order. To be clear it wasn’t a particularly busy afternoon and there where plenty of members of staff chatting amongst themselves who could have been providing a slightly more swift and professional service. The young girl who eventually served us was pleasant enough but oblivious she had kept us waiting. We had to move from our position as the roof started leaking above us and relocate, at this point it became apparent that the large table behind us was a actual managers meeting of sorts and not a lunch as they all seemed to be interested in our situation as water was coming from the above ceiling, which is slightly more concerning that they’d all been privy to our ridiculous wait times and not done anything about it. We relocated and other diners asked why we’d moved and two separate couples made comments about the service and professionalism of the staff and weren’t overly impressed either. All 4 of us had just ordered sandwich’s. None of which was anything to write home about. For a reasonably priced sandwich Iwasn’t expecting skinny slices of what could be “asda smart price” bread which I might add wasn’t fresh as it was very dry. One of our friends was the fish finger sandwich which wasn’t great and the chips and fry’s we’d ordered weren’t a satisfactory temperature. All in all certainly not value for money and not at all what we’d expected. With the poor food and not ideal service we’d simply not return. Another long wait for the bill and we wanted to make a move so we didn’t bring the issues up to the staff member who took our payment. I completely understand things are quite different in these covid times and places are still adapting to table service, but to be ignored for so long without any forthcoming apologies and then very uninspired over priced sandwiches it’s just not good enough. We had numerous lunches and evening meal over our few days in the area and unfortunately everything else was far superior.

Good food delivered promptly. No welcome, find your own table, get your own drinks, place your order and pay up front. Was this really necessary as other places are coping better. With more thought and effort this could be a good restaurant.

What a find...Modern, clean and in a beautiful location surrounded by a stunning nature reserve and still only a stretch from the beach AND Dog Friendly. Welcomed by super friendly staff very attentive and so helpful - nothing was too much trouble. The room also had a double aspect french doors to table and chairs on both sides. Great menu choice all our meals were perfect (and we are really fussy!) loved the fact they use local produce too and not just the food - my husband loved the toiletries so much we sourced where they from and brought back half the shop :-) Would def recommend such a smooth slick 5 star run hotel and have already booked to go back can't wait.Thank you so much to all the staff who made the stay very memorable especially Callum the Manager

I had a steak which was mediocre and very overpriced. They didn’t even offer a steak knife which would have been useful. My wife had sea bass which was completely over cooked. It is a shame because it’s a great location but we will not be visiting again

We went to Briarfields for lunch on a weekday trip to North Norfolk and the food was delicious! My partner had the burger and said it was one of the best he’d ever had but the tapas dishes really stole the show, especially the warm mini Chorizo. The restaurant staff were friendly, welcoming and gave great service. Would highly recommend and we’ll definitely be returning customers.

Nice afternoon tea. Staff are super friendly. The tables are spread out at the moment so no covid related concerns. The scones were excellent and still warm. The sandwiches were pleasant but we didn’t get a choice of fillings and preferred the look of the next table alongs sandwiches more! I would recommend and will eat here again.

I came in on Saturday looking for any last minute rooms as our accommodation was cancelled. The lady on the desk was very helpful, you only had 1 night available but she also made the effort to check with the lodge also. She was very polite and got everything sorted very quickly. Our room was perfect for us, the car park space outside was a bonus! And the shower was great after a warm day! The following morning the young lady who served us could not of been more polite. Both of them are a credit to you, we will be returning very soon.

We decided to book a table here, based on the food pictured on their website, and unlike most other local establishments, it was , on the whole, available! ; the most extensive menu offered yet. Good, simple Covid practices, with someone wiping down tables with — boring, but necessary—- regularity. Lovely views over the Titchwell marsh es, indoor and outdoor seating, and dog friendly. One way in/ out food and drinks ordering system, with friendly polite staff. Had 3 tapas to start, chorizo tasty, starters of scallops, presented beautifully, if not the best scallops ever, but acceptable, Jerk chicken, delicious;mains of sirloin steaks - cooked exactly as we had asked, and sea bass fillet, with prawns and chilli and chickpea fricassee . Other fish beef and lamb dishes were available, plus vegetarian options, and daily specials. Pudding was a strawberry-excellent- cheesecake, panacotta, and a cheese board, which hallelujah! Was not stone cold and straight from the fridge- basics like this are what separate a very good meal from an excellent one. With drinks, apple juice, beers , wine , water , and the eat out deduction, about 120 pounds, so mid range, but well worth it, best meal in Norfolk so far this trip, well done to everyone.

Now that the Government has ruled all pubs, retaurants, etc, are to cease trading due to the coronavirus outbreak, we found to our delight that Briarfields are operating a takeaway service. We had gone to the beach with our dog for exercise/social distancing on a sunny afternoon, afterwards we drove to Briarfields and telephoned an order from our car. The service was brilliant, we had their homemade steak burger with hand cut chips, superb. The young lady brought this out and passed to us through the window following the guidelines for social distancing. Food was presented in takeaway cartons and drinks provided in disposable cups. We did not even have to take our rubbish home, a quick call and the young lady came and took all the cartons away. Thank you Briarfields for helping maintain a degree of normality in these extraordinary times.

I was a very lucky (and grateful!) competition winner for an overnight stay for 2 with dinner and breakfast. The booking process was very smooth, as was the check- in on arrival. Unfortunately, what was supposed to be a stay for my husband and I had to change at the last minute to just myself due to family illness. There was no fuss at all from the staff who were very welcoming, showed me up to the room and left me to get settled before dinner. The room was huge, spotlessly clean and the bed was oh so comfortable! Dinner was absolutely lovely; such a great choice of local seasonal treats. And the dessert was just sublime! A mention to the young man who was serving on tables that night- he was very professional and polite despite being so busy. It was such a relaxing atmosphere that before I knew it almost 2 hours had passed! Breakfast the next morning was also delicious with a large amount of choice and very prompt service. Unfortunately, after breakfast, I was homeward bound. When I went to check out the same young man from the night before asked if my family member was feeling any better, which I found very thoughtful. All in all it was a relaxing stay, fantastic meal and absolutely lovely staff. Thank you to all. I definitely look forward to returning.

Just had a delicious lunch in the cafe. The special today was steak (or chicken + mushroom) pie, new pots + veg. I had the steak pie, and they couldn't have stuffed another gram of steak into it. The pastry melted in the mouth and the steak was so tender. As said, absolutely delicious 😋

I reckon I have eaten at least one portion of moules marinere once a year, for the last 30 years… and yet, tonight’s was the best. My wife who is also a regular eater of mussels agreed with me (which is rare). The sauce was really creamy but the garlic and herb can through, served with fantastic fries and a superb bread.
