Great looking venue but the worst meal I’ve had in a long time went with family I think if I was on our own would have left meal and gone I had fish and chips thought would be nice it was over cooked on top could not even eat the batter one mouthful of peas the underside of the fish was undercooked my wife had burger the bread roll looked like a cheap roll from lidle falling apart absolutely no garnish a wimpy would look better plonked down with no finesse went on to pudding thought I would go for the poached pear got about six thin slices of pear on some chocolate mousse good fifty pence worth of pudding for eight pound I thought in fairness wife’s sticky toffee pudding was nice.up half the night with bad stomach just to top off a bad night

The worst dining experience of my life. We booked this meal as a birthday treat for me from my husband. Waited a hour for a mediocre starter of crab cakes , watched other diners complain about the wait and food quality, enquired 2 hours in as to where our main course was to be told that it had been forgotten to the horror of the stressed server who had been fending off complaints all night. We ended up returning to our holiday rental for cheese and biscuits- certainly no fine dining for us.

We dined in the Mulberry Restaurant, and had the Norfolk Restaurant Week Menu. There was a good choice of starters, mains and deserts. I chose cured salmon with blackberries and lime gel and my wife had ham hock terrine with poached egg pea puree , both we well presented and taste combinations we're excellent. My main was pan fried hake on mash potatoe with peas and pea purre ,pancetta and crispy leeks. My wife had pan roasted chicken breast with dauphinois potoes sweetcorn puree and crispy kale. Again both mains we're fantastic flavours and combinations.. All the staff we're very friendly and attentive. The chef's clearly very talented. We had a wonderful meal and evening and would highly recommend a visit, we will definitely be going again

Very poor service. Great chef who has been badly let down by the front of house. Tables not ready when we arrived, 3 items on menu not available (at 6pm on a Saturday night). Was given the ‘Norfolk restaurant week’ menu and then after we had chosen was told we had the wrong menu and was given a lesser menu to choose from

A really delicious Sunday lunch although they had run out of their Norfolk pork roast which we were looking forward to. Our lunch booking was late on into the service so I suppose it is understandable. The service was excellent and very caring (we had a baby & elderly parent with dementia in our party!! Arrived for Sunday lunch a little early and we were directed to the bar to have a drink until our table was ready.2 gents already at the bar waiting to be served. 1 person behind the bar still setting up the area to be able to serve, no ice , no nozzles on the pumps and then the till/card machine wasn’t working properly. After waiting almost waiting 20 mins for drinks, we gave up and went through to the dining area. We explained what had happened to who we believe was the head waitress. She apologised and said that should not have happened and went and got us our drinks herself which were given complimentary. We chose from the menu and both opted for the soup as a starter. When the soup came I had to ask for soup spoons as they weren’t on the table or brought with the soup. If you have soup on the menu the tables should be set up accordingly they can be easily removed if not needed. Soup was ok but there was a bit too much salt in for my liking. The bowls were removed when we had finished and we were both looking forward to our roasts. After half an hour we still had not received our mains, bearing in mind people who had come in after us and had starters had been given their mains and were almost finished. I am never usually one to say anything, but on this occasion I did. For whatever reason our main had been overlooked and it came out within a few minutes of having to ask.The presentation of the meal was not great everything was piled on top of each other with a Yorkshire pudding on the very top. The meat was lovely, I had Roast Pork and my husband the beef, but the rest of it was mediocre. The hotel it self looked lovely with nice surroundings looking out on to the golf course. For a hotel the has a grand sounding name the meal and service we received was anything but grand, with the exception of the head waitress who tried to rectify things as best she could.

We were a family of five adults and two children. The food was mediocre and the menu very restrictive. My starter was absolutely awful, a few bits of beetroot on top of some lettuce with what I can only describe as plastic looking tasteless bagged mozzarella gratings. Others had the pate which came with insufficient bread to accompany it. When we asked if we could have a bit more as I would have liked something to accompany my very sparse beetroot salad also, the waiter asked the chef, we were told no it’s not on the menu and we don’t have bread in the kitchen even though they obviously did! One of the children’s meals sausage and mash didn’t go down too well, we asked could we order a plate of chips, again the poor young waiter asked the chef who said no, it’s not on the menu for Sunday lunch, even though my granddaughter had the burger which came with chips! When we pointed this out the reply was we need all the chips for this evening! Had we ordered two burger and chips instead of the sausage and mash then they would have been a portion down anyway! The roasts for the adults felt reheated from the microwave! I emailed the hotel to give them the chance to reply before posting this review. They acknowledged the email but have not followed up with a response, so am now posting what is only my second review in twenty years for a bad experience. Perhaps the chef was having a bad day but the customers ie us felt most unwelcome! Couldn’t fault the poor young staff who were very nice but obviously felt very nervous of asking the chef for anything extra.

My sister has always referred to Heacham Manor and restaurant as 'Club Class' so we decided to visit for dinner to celebrate mum's Birthday. It started well as there was just one other couple dining. The staff were friendly and attentive. We were slightly surprised that given the seemingly plush furnishings and lay out of the restaurant that the menus were both printed on paper and fairly limited. However we were very grateful that instead of the Pea and ham Soup of the Day they offered the opportunity of an alternative of Potato and Leek soup which was delicious. We were asked during the starter if everything was OK. Between the starter and the main course, the restaurant started to fill up. We ordered 2 salmon main courses and a chicken breast. When they arrived they looked delicious and the salmon meals were as they looked. The chicken however was overcooked and very dry. It appeared as though it had been reheated after lunch. The rest of the meal was lovely but the vast majority of the chicken was left as not in anyway tasty and was not worth the effort to cut. We considered mentioning it when waiting staff checked during our main course, but as the restaurant was busier we were not asked during the meal. When the waitress came to clear we did let her know and she apologised for the meal. As she took our plates into the kitchen we heard the start of the conversation with the chef... 'we've had another....' immediately after this we saw a chef in black tunic and hat looking towards us from the kitchen. His body language indicated to us he was not happy with the criticism or conversation.. for example shaking his head. At no time did any other member of staff try to discuss the issue with us. We ordered a coffee then paid and left... slightly surprised that there was no reduction in the bill or even the offer of a free coffee, quality restaurants we have visited would have done this. Overall.. some good points but disappointed as we expected better.

On arrival we were shown to our table by a very unenthusiastic waitress. We ordered our meal and the first course was really nice and brought to us in a good reasonable time. However, we then had to wait over half an hour for our main course and when it arrived it was far from appetising. I had the sea bream which was overcooked, dry and tasteless. There was no flavour either to the accompanying vegetables and the amount of potatoes on the plate was overwhelming there were so many. Easily enough to feed two people and just new potatoes taken out of the pan, no attempt to give them any more flavour. My husband had the steak - he was underwhelmed.

It was such a shame that the chef was let down by the staff and the cleanliness of our table. Our food was very good and nicely presented but the service slow and staff just hadn't been trained properly in how to serve food or educated in how to offer and make pre-dinner drinks. They arrived looking huge & overcooked, the batter was so hard & crispy that rendered it completely inedible, the fish was so sparse that I gave up trying to find it. ......Chips, cold clearly packet garden peas & tartar sauce completed the offering. I decided not to risk desert so ordered coffee that arrived clearly out of a vending machine & virtually stone cold. £17.00 later my advise would be don't bother!

We had dinner here within the Heacham Manor hotel as part of a package. The menu is limited and more production line than haut ciusine, (probably because its main clients are golfers who seem to prefer quantity to quality) My sea bass was definitely pre-cooked although the scallops were perfect. My wife's duck with risotto was a beetroot nightmare. Other than here the choice for dining locally is very limited - mainly pubs or fish shops. This is probably the best around.

On arrival nobody was in Reception, so we decided to go and sit in the lounge and have a pre-dinner drink only to find a notice on the door stating closed for refurbishment. The two other small rooms were available by the main lounge so not too bad so far. The biggest disappointment was our main meals, the steak was not tender, had lots of gristle and the "hand cut" chips were grossly under cooked being almost raw in the middle. Thick cut chips need to be crispy on the outside in order for the inside to be fully cooked. I did remark that we both like The Mulberry but this meal was far from satisfactory, the response was that it was down to the refurbishment and staff changes taking place, however, this does not explain why the food was not up to standard. As a couple who like to get out and enjoy the local cuisine we will wait to hear from others if things get back to normal at The Mulberry before trying it again.

We moved table to begin with as we were placed opposite the kitchen doors and kept getting the smell of everyone else's food! Starters were tasty but the fish cakes were very small. The chicken satay was dry and more like a kebab. The mains were pretty good but the fish portion was again small. One glass of 250ml wine was £8.90! When we left no one said anything to us and we had to sit with our coats throughout the meal also while others had theirs taken away and hung up. The atmosphere was a bit flat to be frank despite the attractive setting and decor. Not a disaster, but could have been better with attention to detail with the food preparation and to us, as the paying customers....felt a bit ignored at the end of the night to be honest.

We had gone for my birthday having seen an exceptionally interesting evening restaurant menu a few months before. On arrival we were put in the table next to the kitchen doors in an almost empty restaurant(at that time). The seats were covered in food debris which the waiting staff watched as we cleaned them down ourselves. Not only were we subjected to normal kitchen noise but also heard swearing - not good with a four year old child. We asked for an alternative table which we were duly shown to. My husbands starter which I should have taken a picture of was the curried fish cakes with a rocket salad. We could only assume some mishap with the kitchens fridge as the rocket salad was a lifeless morsel to the side of the fish cakes which my husband told me were pleasant enough. Our daughter had the sea bass fillet which contained bones which does not happen if a fish is properly filleted and definitely not where we normally would eat. Yes fish contains bones but not in a child's portioned of filleted sea bass. The fish was presented proudly with its slashed crisp skin faced upwards to an audience that winced knowing what lay underneath. What chef slices into the skin of a sea bass with the intention to "crisp" the skin whilst leaving the flesh unscathed!!!!!!!! Come on!!! The flesh was unsurprisingly yellow and rock hard at the edges whilst the rest stuck to the skin!!! It came with a tea spoon of wilted spinach and a tea spoon of cream sauce and a field of potatoes and a sprig of fresh pea shoot if good measure. I had ordered a gin and tonic and was surprised not to be asked which gun but assumed at this early stage it was due to the fact that they only stocked good quality gin - never assume anything! On the bill later I found I had been served beefeater gun - not only do I not consider this a place to eat I do not consider it a gun I would drink! My next mistake (one of many today) was to ask for a wine list that had failed to be offered - needless to say there was no leather bound tome - akin to a pizza express wine list. The wine came with a dirty and torn label ho hum. Not my finesse pick of a restaurant plus points nice size and viewpoint and that's it. Nice to see a loyal clientele is happy to ensure it's survival but not for us.

My wife and I booked for our wedding anniversary for a Sunday evening booking. We were first shown to a comfortable bar area where we had drinks before being shown to our table. The restaurant is based in a large conservatory area. The tables were well spread out with the restaurant area well presented. The table was set with bread and oils on offer, including a large jug if drinking water. We were offered three courses for £25 which was exceptional value for food of this quality. The menu had something for everyone, and to be honest I would have had it all!I had Prawn Cocktail to start, followed by Beef and then Panna cotta to finish. The whole experience was excellent from start to finish. Friendly professional staff only served to set the whole experience off. Top marks, and wouldn't hesitate to go back. Well done Mulberry. Give yourselves a huge pat on the back!

I had phoned ahead to check there weren't any big parties at lunchtime (it can make it noisy and service can be slow, but the restaurant usually copes well). It was raining and a Tuesday - but my friend and I didn't expect to be lunching alone. We sat in the bar first and had to ask for menus - they weren't brought automatically. Then the waitress only gave us the bar menus and we wanted the a la carte. I also had to ask for the wine list.I was disappointed that a few items that were on their website were not on the main menu. So, with nothing else that appealed, we both ended up with a fish dish. It was OK but nothing to rave over. Three courses and a glass of wine and coffee to follow cost £60 so reasonable value for money. Such a pity that we were on our own in the conservatory restaurant. At least the table service was good and solicitous.

It is nice to be served by local people, certainly not a criticism against those that may have a different accent.Anyway, not tried here, so we went for a Sunday roast, the beef was the best I've ever tasted Head Chef Mr Williams, cooked this to absolute perfection. As I do like volume, I got extra roast potatoes and veg - no extra charge.I would highly recommend, view is OK too, quite comedic if you "Golfers" in that vein ;)

Dropped in without a reservation for Sunday Lunch, fortunately there had been a cancellation so we were fitted in (it was busy).Reasonable selection of dishes for fixed price 2/3 course menu, reasonable prices for the type and standard of restaurant (small local hotel)Service was attentive and pleasant. Food was well prepared and plated, sensible portions. Not especially creative, but didn't need to be, although the desserts could be a bit more adventurous. The fish risotto was a particular treat.

We came home with a great selection of apples and pears from the orchard, some we had not heard of before, they are all the same price by weight so you just make your own selection into a bag. We will be batch-baking apple-crumble for the freezer. They also have a nice butchery selection and local cheese amongst other edible. Not so keen about Gurneys the fresh fish shop as they didn't seem to want the custom they shut up early. The Fish and chip shop had a gluten problem which I will review separately.

Had a nice meal for 2 here. Decor and building is lovely, service was efficient and meals came out quickly. A decent choice on the menu, not insanely expensive depending on what you chose. Chocolate brownie dessert was delicious.

I went with my husband and our two dogs for an impromptu breakfast at the Sandringham restaurant. Upon arrival we were greeted by a very friendly lady who was kind to our dogs and gave them a couple of treats whilst we waited for a table to be ready in the dog friendly area. A lovely polite young man called Lucas came to take us to our table and seated us in a great area with space for our pooches. There are dog blankets at each table and a bowl of water was provided which was well received by our thirsty girls. We ordered pancakes with bacon/honey and poached egg with avocado on sourdough, coffee, ginger beer and a decadent hot chocolate served in the most beautiful royal china. The restaurant is very tastefully decorated, a light and airy space giving it a casual and relaxed atmosphere. All of the staff were efficient, friendly, polite, the drinks and food came at the right time and it was delicious! Well done to the team, we will be back!
