Arrived with rain pouring down. From arrival to departure an absolute joy. A thoughtful birthday card on the table set the mood for a great celebration Stand out food was a point of debate for the rest of the weekend. Garlic soup and the gnocchi definitely favourites, the beef with the most wonderful broccoli ever, and then definitely a panacota that was made in heaven. The grandkids had a second portion of chicken from the bar menu, that I think is self explanatory. All in all a wonderful celebration with a devine meal. Compliments to all staff

Really friendly local village pub, well patronised by locals and some from surrounding villages. Excellent cask ales with a weekly guest ale. Although this is not a food pub, it does sell heated sausage rolls, cornish pasties, and pizza twirls along with the usual crisps, peanuts, etc. There are regular events such as Live singers, Karaoke, Bingo, and a,weekly meat raffle on a Sunday at 4.00pm followed by 'Play your cards right'. Still very much the hub of the Community. Nothing has altered, a brilliant Village pub serving excellent beverages to the Community along with a venue for friends and families to meet together. Unfortunately, the current Landlord has had to serve notice due to price rises across the board. Hopefully, the owner will try to maintain it as a community asset. Only 5 weeks remaining as a pub in its own right. I believe it will be closed for a few weeks and reopen as an Indian restaurant under a new name and management. I will have to wait and see if it will retain any 'wet' trade for locals. The pub closed and has now re opened as a bar and grill Bangladeshi restaurant. Moocha Wala.

I know some people like their chips to be dark brown in colour, but probably more prefer a lighter golden brown. My mum always used to do dark brown. However, is there a preference for the colour of the fish batter? I haven't heard that there is. For me the important thing is that the batter should be golden brown and crispy not soggy. Read on to find out why I started with this introduction to my review. Last night I had fish and chips in the Butchers Arms and the fish batter was a bit too dark/overcooked, although it wasn't as bad as it looked. A friend asked if I needed a chisel to eat it, but no I didn't. It was very crispy, in fact a bit too crispy. I personally prefer mushy to garden peas with fish and chips. The chips and tartare sauce were nice. A slice of lemon would have been a nice finishing touch. The price was £17. The service was a bit slow for the main course, but to be fair there was a large private birthday party upstairs. If they had brought my meal out a bit quicker, maybe the batter would have been just right😆. The deserts are a bit pricey, but this seems to be normal these days. I had cheese cake, which was £8. The menu is a bit limited, but after COVID this seems to have happened in several pubs. I did fancy the steak, but could not afford the price of £30. There was a vegan option on the menu which suited my wife. She enjoyed her chickpea ragout, although thought her meal was lacking carbs. Normally this dish would be served with something like pasta. On this, my first visit to the Butchers Arms, I can only give a rating of 3/5 because the fish batter was overcooked and the service was a bit slow. The Ragout also could do with being served with pasta (preference), or rice or bread for some carbohydrates or at least have this as an option. Despite all of the above, the Butchers is certainly still worth 3 stars because it is a nice friendly pub, including dogs being allowed in the bar and garden, and the ales I drank were all in excellent condition and 2 out of the 3 were local ones and below £5, which is good to see. I would certainly recommend to drinkers of real ales, and would give them another try for food.

This place has easily the best gluten free and vegan food I’ve ever had in a pub, and the sheer breadth of options is phenomenal. As a coeliac, I always struggle with going to a pub, but this was the easiest experience and tastiest gf food I’ve ever ordered. Our friends are vegan and “normal” and they said the food they ordered was amazing too! The owners and team are so friendly, the food and drinks are fairly priced (and locally sourced), and the town of Brackley is lovely to walk around. 100/10!

Me and my husband came here for lunch and it was delicious. My husband ordered the mussels but these weren’t available, the chef came out and offered an alternative (that wasn’t on the menu) which was really nice! The starter & mains we both had were wholesome & tasted amazing… We’re definitely coming back!

Had the Sea Bass special this evening, at £24 I assumed it would be special, it wasn't. It lacked flavour and basic seasoning, no idea what the sauce was as there wasn't enough to get any flavour from it - perfectly edible once salt and pepper added but at that price I expected more given their website claims about the chef. Mostly a plate of crushed new potatoes and veg, with 2 small sea bass fillets on top which were slightly overcooked - nicely presented with some roasted vine tomatoes on top (they were the only thing that added flavour to the dish) - style over substance perhaps. The burger was more reasonably priced at £16, however again it was nothing special, generic oven chips, generic burger bun, bit of iceburg lettuce and some cheese, again perfectly edible but nothing you couldn't get for half the price at a local cafe. Very nice setting, lovely dining room, sadly they chose to put the 3 tables of diners together in one corner despite having the whole room available - this made what could have been a quiet mid-week meet up quite loud and difficult to have a conversation. Not sure we would go again, the food was too mediocre for the price. We didn't experience anything like the claims made on their website about 'exceptional, innovative cuisine' with our food choices - perhaps we should have ordered off the main menu instead of the specials board. I do notice that the owners appear to put quite defensive responses to customers who raise negative points - a review is to help potential customers. The meal was edible, not nice enough to make us want to return and not bad enough to make us want to complain to the waitress.

Within walking distance of home the Bakers Arms is a friendly public house with guest beer and ales. Now serving food, fish and chips Friday and other choices both Friday and Saturday. Lovely food to make it a great evening out. Just had Sunday lunch which was very tasty. Wednesday is also quiz night.

Went here for an evening never again, awful cheap drinks and food was not cooked properly. Please avoid this pub at all costs. Previous owner was lovely but new owner is a Fraudster and steals people’s money. If your thinking about going here with your husband think again, as the owner Vicky has a history stealing peoples money. And brought this pub with fraudulent money , the locals are all aware what kind of person the owner is and will be avoiding this place for now on.
