Really friendly local village pub, well patronised by locals and some from surrounding villages. Excellent cask ales with a weekly guest ale. Although this is not a food pub, it does sell heated sausage rolls, cornish pasties, and pizza twirls along with the usual crisps, peanuts, etc. There are regular events such as Live singers, Karaoke, Bingo, and a,weekly meat raffle on a Sunday at 4.00pm followed by 'Play your cards right'. Still very much the hub of the Community. Nothing has altered, a brilliant Village pub serving excellent beverages to the Community along with a venue for friends and families to meet together. Unfortunately, the current Landlord has had to serve notice due to price rises across the board. Hopefully, the owner will try to maintain it as a community asset. Only 5 weeks remaining as a pub in its own right. I believe it will be closed for a few weeks and reopen as an Indian restaurant under a new name and management. I will have to wait and see if it will retain any 'wet' trade for locals. The pub closed and has now re opened as a bar and grill Bangladeshi restaurant. Moocha Wala.

We were a party of 5 for Sunday lunch. For once the weather was sunny so the pub was busy. All of our party ordered a roast lunch. I will comment on my meal. Having waited 1 hour the food arrived. My order of a full sized beef lunch was served on a plate so undersized that the food was stacked high. The beef was verging on grey in colour, dry over cooked, and tasteless - perhaps cooked sometime ago and frozen. The honey coated carrots were a nice touch but over cooked. The beans were also overcooked and with the carrots were under seasoned. The potatoes were fine. The red cabbage was a surprising addition but would have been much better if pickled. The Yorkshire pudding was fine but the gravy was thin and tasteless. The staff were excellent .Had my wife and I had not been with friends who live locally our meals would have been sent back. We like to support local pubs. Come on you can do better than this.

First visit lovely inside and out. Reasonably priced drinks and food. Vegetarian, vegan, dairy and gluten free specific menus which are great! Watched the f1 qualifying and there was football on also. Friendly staff. Would come again. Dog friendly outside under or not under cover.

Had an excellent Sunday lunch, Pork with stuffing, apple sauce, roast potatoes and Yorkshire, separate dish of veg, extra gravy. It was really delicious. Such a shame that the pub is closing at the end of the month as no-one will take over the lease. Have been going to this pub for over 40 years, had many family get togethers here & my father who lives in the village will really miss his fish & chips. Hopefully someone will take it over before too long.

I came here the other day with my husband for coffee and cake, I had a pumpkin spiced latte, and a slice of Victoria sponge cake, the latte was delicious, temperature was perfect, the cake was nice, light and fluffy. My husband had a flat white and a brown sugar shortbread, he said his drink and shortbread was very tasty. The staff were polite, and friendly.

Excellant roast 5* stunning!! Best i've ever had (we both had pork in the end) , excellant pate starter 5* really enjoyed it , although that amount of pate and chutney needs another piece of toasted bread, happens everywhere ive no idea why giving the bread in probably the cheapest bit of the dish ( however i refused to be beaten and just ate the pate and chutney on its own at it was so nice :) ) banoffee cheesecake was underwelming compared to other desserts i've had and tasted like frozen that had been defrosted although my wife thought it was lovely ( i have a major sweetooth so i think i'm right) Staff were fairly good although we didnt get our cultlery for starter and i got the wrong main which i accepted as the option was to wait 10-15 mins while they prepared the chicken roast i ordered. ( i remember the young lad saying he should remember the starter and main order for just two people as he gave us our drinks to begin ( no glass offered with the bottle of cider until i asked so i would offer people the option as an improvment) ..2 pate, 1 roast pork, one roast chicken was the order but i still ended up with pork and then when it came and i pointed this out i was asked to confirm by the mamager id changed my mind and thats why it had been sent back, no id sent it back because i thought it was someone elses dinner and they had sent it to me while some poor chap on another table was staring at a chicken wondering where his crackling was. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed the food and it was a lovely way to celebrate, ate too much as didn't want to leave any bit should have skipped dessert or had a different one and it was a struggle to walk home.:)

We had a great experience at the Roade House Hotel when we were here recently for a work trip. The family that works here is so welcoming and lovely, the rooms were large with some beautiful original features while still being modern. They have a restaurant on site which had lovely homemade meals and the breakfast was great.
