The Roade House Cafe Bar & Yoga Studio in South Northamptonshire

I came here the other day with my husband for coffee and cake, I had a pumpkin spiced latte, and a slice of Victoria sponge cake, the latte was delicious, temperature was perfect, the cake was nice, light and fluffy. My husband had a flat white and a brown sugar shortbread, he said his drink and shortbread was very tasty. The staff were polite, and friendly.

Lovely cafe, friendly staff who were very attentive. I was on my own and felt very comfortable. Lots of homemade cakes to choose from.

I really want this place to be a success but our visit today was terrible. One ordered a jacket with 2 toppings. It was ok, but at £8 it should be! Daughter ordered an omelette….. this was utter joke. A plate of what looked like vomit arrived, possible a scrambled egg? Nothing else on the plate whatsoever? For £8! We returned this to the kitchen. The manager looked cross and something far better came out dressed nicely with salad and coleslaw. I ordered a warm baguette with boats cheese and chutney. This came and was anaemic like warm stale bread, with warm but not melted cheese, very dry. A few crisps and no other garnish. Other meal was eggs Benedict. Eggs over done and it had no hollandaise sauce. We asked for hollandaise sauce to be told I had requested it without hollandaise sauce. Bit weird, as I definitely did not request that. We were asked about 4 times if we had ordered various things, the waitresses had no idea of table numbers, we were asked if we were the table with loads of cheese on the floor? Which was clearly a different vacated table that had loads of cheese on the floor. Really weird.

I’ve left a review before and said I would never go back , but family live in Roade so we ended up back there today ! Sad to say nothing has changed , was brought a cup of tea , no spoon or sweetners as I had asked , the young girl forgot my water and forgot my friends water . After 25 mins from ordering we were told sorry there is no calamari , by this time u had already received my food ( eggs were cold ) so I ate on my own , instead of calamari my friend ordered sausage eve and and chips and he was last to eat out of the four of us as had to wait for them to put the order through again , when it arrived it was sausage egg and chips , it was sent back , all they did was add the beans . Friend said I didn’t want egg , the man manager replied oh well they are on the plate now !! What if he had an allergy !! We asked for the bill , I was charged an extra drink and they were charged an extra meal So watch out this isn’t the first time this happened !! Manager said sorry we’ve been so busy we only have two staff as Wednesdays are normally quiet !! Such bad service and he was so rude too ! This place only keeps going because of the hotel and yoga etc The cakes are horrible now too , bland , ( they used to be lovely ) Would definately not recommend

Service was absolutely disgusting from the waiting staff to the manager! Manager had the most shocking customer service skills. I quote “what else do you want me to do, I have apologised “ “It’s on your plate now just take it” how does he know that the reason I didn’t order it was because of an allergy to it!! Food was awful and had to wait along time. Cakes once were good but now over cooked and dry! Then they over charged and when asked for a correction was told they couldn’t refund it! Never again. The place has gone down hill and I wouldn’t be surprised if the place closes due to the way the manager treats you.

Visited Friday lunchtime for a cup of tea and cake. The scones (heavily promoted) arrived after 25 minutes and were not cooked through. Still doughy in the middle and very pale on the outside. I returned them to the man who was serving who whisked them off with a tut and no apology and asked what we'd like instead. The ginger cake replacement was delicious. Tea pot spout stained on the outside all the way to the base so hadn't been washed between customers. Pretty shabby all round I'm afraid.

Fabulous Mother’s Day breakfast, at short notice too! A warm welcome as always with perfect poached eggs….shame I was too full to steal my daughters strawberry waffles though ❤️

I stayed overnight and attended a yoga retreat day . The room, food and yoga were all excellent. I would definitely come again.

Coffee was lovely...hot chocolate was very good... The food.... Goulash was good...mashed potato, needed butter and milk to make it look nice....I'm not sure though that the butter was butter,it tasted weird. Chicken and mushroom pie..nice pastry....4 thumb nail size pieces of meat,in a slimy sauce. Peas not cooked properly. The other vegetables were forgotten and when they came, they were not cooked properly and cold. In mitigation, the gentleman was the only server,and possibly only one cook. My suggestion would be ,buy better quality products.

We would certainly visit again-this place is lovely. Its easy to find, just look for the disused water tower nearby, and its on the main street through the village of Roade. There is ample parking. We had our dog with us and she was made very welcome. We had a ground floor room which was spacious, decent sized bed, good quality linen and furnishings. Its all recently been refurbished. The owners are so welcoming and we enjoyed chatting with them. Breakfast is freshly cooked and lots of different plates to choose. They are licensed too and wine is good quality. The home-made cakes are a must. We are too lazy for the yoga but lots of people were enjoying their classes. This village must count itself lucky to have such wonderful facilities in their midst. Do not hesitate to book.

What a hidden little gem. Amazing staff, great feel to the place and if you’re a veggie, one of the best. And decent veggie Richmond sausage.

Paul is super friendly, rooms are lovely. We have an EV and our dog Milo with us - none of which was a problem - able to charge and take Milo for a moderate fee. Rooms and restaurant is smart and trendy too. As we were a bit tired so we ate over the road at the local pub. Before hand Paul suggested a walk for Milo - 50 yards away around some wheat field - really handy. He has a lunch and dinner menu - fully licensed. We weren’t here that long to sample but perhaps next time. They also have a beauty salon and yoga classes. All this set in a lovely village setting We will 100% book again Shaun, Debbie, Grace and Milo

Great yoga centre, cafe and restaurant. Thoroughly enjoyable and relaxing day spent at The Roade house Yoga studio on the one day retreat. A selection of yoga activities provided from stretching to mindfulness meditation. Suitable for beginner and experienced practitioners. Pampering provided with hand and foot massage. Stayed here many times in the past as visiting relatives in the village The rooms are of good size with smart bathrooms Lovely furnishings and recently redecorate The only downside is that there is no breakfast included although you can get one in their on site cafe Just think maybe a bit pricey with no breakfast Paul the owner was very nice and looked after us

Fish finger sandwich was horrible. For the price you charge overall, you need to step up! Overall, the food is so overpriced. and not good quality.

So disappointed as paid deposits for a Mothering Sunday lunch but was told after ordering drinks that they had run out of Roast dinners! They had the cheek to charge us for a packet of crisps for a child who was starving at this point!

My husband and I are village locals and have been regular visitors to The Roade-House since it opened two years ago and it’s consistently great every time we do whether it’s for food, drinks or a haircut! We had breakfast here for the first time over the Easter bank holiday and have been meaning to come back as it was so very good. We visited here again on Saturday for our anniversary and it was just as amazing! My hubby had the vegan breakfast and I had the home made pancakes with maple syrup, crispy bacon and strawberries. The quality of ingredients and overall taste was incredible and it’s definitely one of the best breakfast’s we’ve both ever had! We will continue to come back once a month or so for this as a treat. Thank you to Paul and Maxine and all the team for your hard work it’s much appreciated and always well received! :)

It was my first time doing hot stone yoga, I absolutely loved it very relaxing just what I need after a busy week, maxine the teacher was lovely delivered the class brilliantly, very knowledgeable would highly recommend, will be booking on to the next class.

Sunday brunch all day, so opted for Eggs Royale which was lovely! Had a great range of freshly baked cakes, highly recommend the coffee cake. Can’t wait to try one of their fun theme nights. Parking round the back in their car park or on street outside. Lovely friendly staff. Great find.

A first visit for me, lunch in the Café Bar, with 3 friends who had been before. I ordered jacket potato with 3 fillings (which the server read back to me). When it arrived, it lacked the main filling (tuna) and there were just beetroot (not warmed and rather hard) and a very small portion of garlic mushrooms. When I brought this to her attention, the waitress offered to bring tuna – but where would they put it on the ‘filled’ potato. When the bill came ‘meat’ filling at £1 extra was included (which, when we pointed this out, was removed but no apology offered.) The baked potato was very good and not smothered in butter (as so often in British pubs), salad tasty. But a very small and unsatisfying meal, and not cheap at £7. I ordered a pot of tea and asked for hot water. This was not brought and I requested it. No apology offered for this either. Pleasant atmosphere, good acoustics so that conversation was easy. My friends' meals were: jacket potato with baked beans and cheese, quiche, Greek salad – all good, particularly the Greek salad. But I won’t be keen to visit again.

Paid a visit for the 1st time today.. was really looking forward to breakfast/brunch after reading so many positive comments.. daughter had waffles which she enjoyed and my wife had avocado and eggs on toast which was probably a little expensive for the size.. the big disappointment was the ‘Full English’ Poached eggs over cooked, stewed beans that you could tell had been sitting for a long time, bacon was hard and full of fat, sausage again was hard and dry.. then the black pudding was cold and undercooked.. even the half of tomato was dried out.. It probably took about 35/40 Mins to arrive and was definitely not all cooked freshly so done understand how it could be so poor.. such a shame as it’s pretty simple cooking.. No one asked how our food was which was a shame and no offer of any condiments either..

Last night we went to The Roade House for a drink and catch up with friends. We sat outside at the back and it was peacwful and quiet. I loved the house gin and tonic, and would definitely recommend mmend trying one of these, or two... As always everyone was very friendly. An absolute joy.

I cant fault the food it all taste fresh and they definitely focus on high quality. The coffee is great and the smoothies are fresh and delicious. the restaurant looks great is always clean and the staff are so welcoming.

Lovely food, friendly staff! Only concern I had is that the menus are not single use and could be laminated to be wiped down then they could be reused safely, I did use the hand sanitiser provided after handling the menus on the clip boards.
