Went here for an evening never again, awful cheap drinks and food was not cooked properly. Please avoid this pub at all costs. Previous owner was lovely but new owner is a Fraudster and steals people’s money. If your thinking about going here with your husband think again, as the owner Vicky has a history stealing peoples money. And brought this pub with fraudulent money , the locals are all aware what kind of person the owner is and will be avoiding this place for now on.

This Pub was owned by another Brewery decades ago, hasn't changed much over the years, a small local business. Used to be known for Rosie's Pies. Is in a residential area, with a car park bit hidden round the back of other gardens. Faces a village green. Been in a few times over the past 30+ years, and has been quiet for a while, especially since Covid. Can't comment on food as I didn't think they did any. Closed at the moment. A nice little pub for locals.

A great little pub opposite the village green, a welcoming pub where you don't get stared at as an outsider. Friendly locals, great staff, great variety of beer and a pair or overbearing attention seeking female lovers. Great pub, see you soon.

The landlady is what makes this place. Got us pink gin in because it’s our favourite. She’s brilliant. Brilliant local pub with great outdoors marquee.

Right opposite the village green, this is a lovely little pub which gave us a delightful relaxing few hours. The main bar area is really small with a very traditional feel, but the bar staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly throughout the visit. There’s a large marque style area round the back as well as some benches on the lawn, overlooking the green. This was a real sun trap and a nice place to watch the world going by. Given the small size of the place the range of drinks wasn’t the most varied, but fortunately the prices were really reasonable. Inside there’s lots of pictures and material on the wall giving a good atmosphere and it certainly had a vibe of being a hub of the community. With an adequately sized carpark at the rear there’s no excuse to not pay it a visit and next time I’m passing I’ll be sure to stop by, especially in the summer.

We called at this pub for lunch it did not have a very big menu but we only wanted a sandwich. We had filled baguettes and they were great. Excellent music playing and very friendly hosts.

Cosy traditional pub with lots of paraphernalia decorating the walls. A good crowd of locals enjoying Sunday evening. 🍻 A great range of beers and fully stocked spirits. A pleasant evening. Cheers.

Bar staff were very welcoming. Although the pub was very crowded the staff were very observant to who was next to be served. Because it was crowded and quiet noisy, it wasn't somewhere to go for a quiet drink

Land lady Lorraine is absolutely lovely. We only pop in now and then but she always remembers us. Rest of the bar is a bit cliquey but friendly enough. They don't to food which is a shame.

I guess my review may be a little biased as this is my local pub and has been for... well, let's say longer than 30 years! A lovely welcoming atmosphere, good selection of drinks, warm and friendly hosts plus some good pub grub if you're hungry. I've never been disappointed. In the summer it's lovely to sit in the garden, and in winter it's warm and welcoming in the lounge. Can highly recommend.

I can understand both sides of the reviews on the this pub. It is a nice little pub for those who want beer, darts and a fairly old fashioned but somewhat charmless pub experience. The bar comes across as cliquey - and very much about an older local crowd and tradespeople stopping at the end of their working day. Don't sit at the wrong table or you will be glared at. Food is not really the point here. It is beer. Which is fine if that is all you want. Better wine served, improve the food a bit and seem more welcoming to the growing younger local community and it has potential. Otherwise, very hard to survive in the countryside selling beer these days.

The owners and staff here are all very polite, friendly and welcoming. Its a great place for a spot of lunch or just a drink or 2. Pub garden is great in the summer, overlooking 1 of the village greens, it is a little suntrap. The pub is always very clean and well maintained with hanging baskets, window boxes and planted borders adding splashes of colour and extra appeal. The Beehive is definatly the heart of our village.

I have been to the Beehive a number of times over the years, as my Father lives near Deanshanger and have always found it to be a very welcoming and pleasant establishment, Lorraine and John always greet me as if I am one of the family, even though it may be a number of months between visits.I have also attended a few of the celebrations that they arrange to raise money for various charities and can confirm that they always manage to make it a fun time for children all ages – 6 to 60 - the Sunday lunch time meat raffle is certainly a regular favourite – unfortunately I cannot arrange it so I win Sunday lunch every week.Lorraine and John have been running a very successful establishment for over 10 years now and have a strong customer base, which would tend to say that their way of running things is popular and the garden is usually full of children in the summer.

I'm so glad that someone has had the courage to say what I have also experienced. I can assure visitors that The Beehive, while clearly popular with it's die-hard fans, does not have universal affection in the village. I have been into the pub a few times but found it hard to break into the very close knit atmosphere and as friendly as the local clientele believe themselves to be, the fact remains that now, as the only pub in the village, it continues to give the impression that it does not cater for the biggest growing group of residents - families.I'll admit that I've never stayed long because as part of the growing family population in Deanshanger I've not been able enjoy the experience with my young family. Instead we have simply avoided it and gone elsewhere.Lastly I must take specific issue with one of the reviewers comments who mentions that it is against the law to have children under 16 in the bar. This is specifically not true - it is the licensees choice, no more, no less. And this particular licensee clearly chooses to focus on only one section of the community, which in my opinion is a shame. It hurts to criticise a local pub, particularly one which is so obviously serving at least part of the local community - but the fact remains that by hanging on to such old fashioned ideas, The Beehive will be stuck with a very specific clientele until it's too late. Progress is impossible without change, and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything. George Bernard Shaw

Having great friends living in Deanshanger we often visit the villages local, The Beehive whenever we make the 4 hour journey from South Wales to Milton Keynes. After reading the reviews about the Beehive over the last couple of days I feel it necessary for me to say that the landladys attitude being very rude is absolutely ludicrous!!!Everytime myself and my husband walk into this little local we are welcomed by a huge smile and open arms! We have visited as a couple, with friends and with friends children and I see no harm in having the policy that children should not be allowed in the bar! The landlady and landlord have sectioned off part of the beer garden with a marquee and outdoor heating so family's can visit and still be warm, just not in the pub!I feel for small minded people to come on trip advisor and slate a well known local village pub which does a hell of a lot of charity are just the type the people that you don't want custom from!!I know John and Lorraine have done a great job of running the Beehive and despite rude comments, will continue to......HAPPY DAYS

Couldn't recommend The Beehive in Deanshanger highly enough. Yes it is a 'local' pub, however everyone is friendly and welcoming, especially the landlady and landlord- Lorraine and John. They have worked hard to make it a successful pub in hard times and have a good customer support base. The Beehive has many things going on, quizzes, bingo, fun nights, live music as well as a darts, dominoes team and a golf society. Some bar food is served if you are hungry after your few pints of local real ale!The pub is always raising money for local charities- weekly for Willen Hospice and has raised a large amount of money for the local British Legion. Definitely worth a visit if you are a local or just passing through.

The Beehive is a well run friendly thriving local pub and has gone from strength to strength since being taken over by Lorraine and John.Over the years there have been many charity events with fun and games for adults and kids in the garden and out on the green which have raised tens of thousands for various charities. There are also weekly games nights such as bingo, quiz nights etc and a weekly meat raffle that has raised thousands for Willen HospiceWe were present when snappysnaps (previous review) visited and heard the whole conversation, snappysnaps was politely told children are not allowed in the bar and insisted on speaking to the Landlady, Lorraine was friendly and polite throughout the whole conversation despite the fact snappy was clearly after an argument and thought the pub should change the way it has been run for the last ten years just to suit them.At no time time was snappy told families are not welcome just that children are not allowed in the bar, a policy supported by most of the customers including many parents. The fact the beehive is thriving would suggest that this is a successful policy and long may it stay this way.Such a shame some people have to go into character assassination just because its not a pub that suits them

I have been a regular to the Beehive for 10 + years and cannot disagree more with the previous review, which was decidedly biased.I was in the pub at the tome in question and what the reviewer manages to not mention is that not only was there a child with them - licensing laws do not allow a child under 16 in a bar - but there was also a scooter, which was left blocking the passageway to the toilets. Also they were not asked to go into the garden, but into the heated marquee, that is there for people with children and works fine for regular customersThe other incorrect statement is regarding the landladys' attitude, at all times was she polite, even though the reviewer was obviously spoiling for a real argument by friends and I commented later how civil the landlady remained. As stated, many public houses are going under and the fact that the Beehive is still going strong says a great deal for the Landlady and landlord and their policies, there is also a great deal of work done to collect funds for charities, with large amounts being collected.I am sure that there are many people who will agree with my comments regarding the Beehive, but whether they decide to comment on this review is up to them, I do know that there are far more people who supported the Landladys decision rather than thought it to be harsh.

Having lived in the village for two years, I decided to join my new neighbours and try out The Beehive. What an awful mistake it turned out to be...!Upon entering, the place fell silent as the occupants and barmaid turned, aghast, as fresh meat walked through the door - although I would soon learn this was because we were in the presence of my neighbour's young daughter. Whilst they took to their seats, I approached the bar and ordered a round of drinks; mid-pouring of pint, the barmaid said we would have to sit outside (it was early March at 7 degrees), as children were not permitted to be in the bar. Stunned, I returned to my friends and broke the news, who asked to then see the landlady to ask about this policy - especially having received something through the door (Parish newsletter) saying what a friendly village pub it had become.I was shocked at how abrupt and rude the landlady was, essentially telling my party that young families were not welcome in the bar, or that they were frankly not wanted. Whilst I don't have children myself, I found this policy and the utterly obnoxious landlady's approach completely baffling and reason enough to want to immediately leave. Given that this is a small and supposedly friendly growing village, not withstanding how many pubs are closing up & down the UK as a result of falling trade, to be told our business (and that of families) is "not welcome" is entirely short-sighted and incredibly rude. I believe strongly in supporting local trade but not with outdated and abrupt views on customer service like The Beehive, so it makes me sad to actively vote with my feet against it.We immediately left and went straight to The Lion in Wicken, where we were immediately greeted in a packed pub with big smiles from the landlord & lady and stayed for several hours by the fire. No qualms, it's not only going to be our pub of choice (my fiancée and I) but also my neighbours' going forward and the source of future recommendations for those living nearby. I look forward to steak night and enjoying their much nicer bar area.Do yourself a favour, avoid The Beehive in Deanshanger.

We`d just finished a Croughton circular walk, and needed "refreshment" afterwards. One of the locals said hello as we walked in. Staff were friendly, and there was Tribute, Wainwrights and Directors on tap. I went for the Directors, which was very good. The menu was on the wall, and was varied, lots of it homemade, and great value for money. Sadly, we`re quite a drive away, otherwise it would be become my local. Note to self: have a meal BEFORE going on Croughton circular walk.

We came to the Royal Oak as a large group for a pre wedding celebration. The food was outstanding, great quality, amazing attention to detail, fresh, hot, tasty and big portions. Everyone enjoyed their meals and left feeling full. We felt extremely welcome and nothing was too much bother for them. Thank you for having us, we can’t wait to come back for a Sunday roast!

Luckily, we ordered our Sunday lunch a couple of days ago when the table was booked. It's a very popular pub for food so you need to plan ahead or you could be a little disappointed as they sell out very quickly. Food, as always, was very good staff very friendly, we will use again.

Been several times over the last 12 months. Probably one breakfast was a bit lacking otherwise really good and great value. Atmosphere is 3 stars. Sometime it’s full of great people, but sometimes you get a number of pretentious people who feel they need the room to hear their opinions.
