The Plough in South Northamptonshire

First visit lovely inside and out. Reasonably priced drinks and food. Vegetarian, vegan, dairy and gluten free specific menus which are great! Watched the f1 qualifying and there was football on also. Friendly staff. Would come again. Dog friendly outside under or not under cover.

Popped in today with a work colleague on the off chance of getting a bit of lunch - lovely pub immaculately presented with great hospitality/service from Jack. Excellent food menu offer as a pub should have, good value too - we had fishcakes, one with chips and one with salad, well presented and very tasty. Excellent coffee as well - highly recommended.

We were house hunting in Brackley and decided a pub lunch was in order. Parked in the high street and walked up to the pub which looks lovely and inviting from the outside. Inside is very traditional and not overly modernised which was nice to see for such an old building. Lovely friendly staff and management team make the place even more appealing. Three of us had fish and chips and our fourth member who is lactose intolerant ordered from the Gluten Free / Dairy Free options and had a burger. Staff even came back to alert us to the fact the bread bun was produced in a bakery where milk products were used so couldn’t guarantee it might not have a trace of milk in it which was very impressive. Have visited lots of establishments where they don’t seem to understand what Dairy Free means. The three fish and chips eaters all agreed that this was one of the best fish and chips we have ever had and we lived on the coast for several years. The chips were fluffy and crispy and the fish perfectly cooked and none of this was greasy or oily in the slightest. The burger eater said it was the second best one she had had recently since we moved to Buckinghamshire. We would all definitely recommend the Plough and when back in Brackley we will certainly return for another meal. Will be difficult to chose something else though from the menu when the Fish and Chips were so good.

To celebrate my wife’s birthday and our wedding anniversary we booked 12 of us to have lunch. Service was great, menu very varied and staff looked after us really well. All 12 meals arrived at same time and everyone enjoyed. Highly recommend.

This is the second time we visited this pub for a Sunday roast because it was so good the first time (and I’ll definitely go again)! Generous portions at a good price. A lovely, friendly pub with great food and staff.

Impromptu lunch in the Plough today. Great service (always is) and a lovely lunch. We really enjoy going to this pub, the landlord Mark is so welcoming, staff are always really friendly, food is good and it's well priced. I'm not a lover of sport but for those who are there are plenty of screens - but be reassured, fellow non-sporty types, apart from the really big games, the screens are not intrusive, I can easily ignore them! There are often live bands playing here too and those are great nights out. Best pub in Brackley.

The difference for lage and small you get the same food just on a smaller plate. Talk a bout having your eyes taken never will I go there again no mash no peas ..and the places was almost empty that should of been a clue to what you were about to have ..dinner my ares more like a snack £40 wish I had given it away ..my girlfriend was in barist ...she had driven 200 miles to have lunch with me

Travelled 200 mile to my partners to go for Sunday roast looks a nice little pub so we thought we would give it a go We ordered 2 large dinners at 16 pound each A long wait when it come there was no way it could be a large you could fit the same on a small plate there was no mash or peas the Yorkshire puddings were frozen It was more of a snack very disappointed

Great pub, with outstanding food and service. Had the lamb curry from the specials menu. Spend a lot of time in curry restaurants all over the country and this blew them all out of water. First class 👌

Not been here before, chose it following an internet search based on geography and somewhere dog friendly. Lots of choice of food and reasonable prices. The staff were friendly, even bringing out a few dog biscuits for Bella (the dog). Would definitely return.

In the area for a wedding and couldn’t get a table at the pub we were staying near so chose the Plough. As it was A level night it was a long wait at the bar to tell them we had a dinner reservation. My wife ordered a curry and myself fish and chips. A staff member came to our table and said there was no curry left so my wife then chose gammon. Then another member came and said they still had one portion of curry left. The food arrived,and my fault I should have complained earlier, the fish had a thick batter on it. Served on a rectangular plate that every time you cut into the fish it flew off the plate. Anyway what minuscule fish was inside the batter was ok but the batter was not. Then I visited the bar to pay and told the gentleman the fish wasn’t nice and got an apology. I returned to our table and glanced at what we had paid and thought this isn’t right and lo and behold we had someone else’s drink on our bill. Visited the bar again where an older staff member did a refund. I brought up the subject of the fish again and was told I should have complained earlier. None of the staff were rude but I had a feeling they weren’t that interested. Won’t be in this area again most likely and certainly wouldn’t visit this place again,

We decided to visit the Plough for the first time since moving to Brackley two years ago, we wish we had done it sooner. The pub has a lovely atmosphere, great staff and the food was amazing, we had a Sunday roast which was cooked to perfection....

Stumbled across after escaping the wet weather while visiting nearby Silverstone.Arrived not booked and the staff couldn't do more to try and get us a table! Once seated the outdoor area was warm (patio heaters) dry (canopy) and comfortable.The food was excellent! Menu was extensive and had something for everyone. I had a sharer platter (select 3xstarters and get Nachos aswell for £15).Staff were all really nice (even though one of the management might support the wrong team)Local revellers on a Friday night were all very friendly and lovely having live music.So good some of my party returned the following night!Great evening was had! Can't wait to return!

First time in over 40 years in this pub . The friendly welcome clean airy seating plenty space between tables and my pet hate is a dirty loo these are spotless . Food was hot and changed my chips to jacket potatoe in heart beat fast device not too busy today so guys had time for chat , which at our age is lovely and much appreciated see you guys soon big thankyou from crazy grey haired old lady lol xx

Popped in to the Plough for a drink on Sunday 30th May, and I have to say the service was amazing! The lovely lady that served us (I believe her name was Libby) was beyond helpful, and made us feel so at home. No question was too small, and she took the time to recommend different drinks that she thought I might like. She was so personable and friendly and she made our whole experience one to remember. We’ll definitely be back in the future!

We booked table to meet two old friends on way down to Poole. We where greeted by the lovely staff & talked through the pubs COVID -19 rules which we found very reassuring. Great to see a good selection of gluten free options. Food was excellent along with great selection of ales. The landlord even had time to have a quick chat which we don’t find very often nowadays on our travels. Highly recommend this lovely pub with a very warm welcoming feel to it.

I live in Wales and for the past three years we travel to Brackley frequently to visit our son. Our visit is never complete without a visit to the Plough for a meal and drinks. I cannot overstate how impressed we have always been with the quality of food, cleanliness and friendly atmosphere. You really get the family feel in this pub in that the landlord is extremely personable and will always give you a warm welcome and ensure you enjoying your visit, in fact we have not had one visit where the landlord has failed to notice us being there and come over to have a chat. You can get no better service and I highly recommend this pub.

Went to this pub today, had an Achilles operation in November and this is my second trip out since then, have lots of issues walking and standing as a consequence. Met up with a group of friends today at this pub, they all like standing at the bar, so got a stool so that I could be included in this group. Found my self subjected to a barrage of abuse from the landlord for sitting on a stool, without any understanding of my situation, so apparently I should have sat at a table whist my friends were stood having a drink at the bar, clear breach of the Equalities Act, as I should be expected to be treated differently. Apparently one of the bar staff mentioned to my husband, that there should be no seats at the bar, this was not communicated to me and I was not up against the bar and in an area that said no bar service, so I was not blocking anything, there were no signs about seating. Yes my husband got a bit upset and said some harsh words, but who would not when their wife had been reduced to tears. Cannot believe the treatment that I received today on what was a rare outing for me, businesses should be reminded of their obligations under the Equality Act and the powers that can be used to enforce peoples rights, and how they make people feel who have mobility and other issues, so they are happy to take our money in their establishments but not treat us with humility.

Thought we would take a trip out to visit Brackley yesterday for a browse around the antiques cellar. Looking for somewhere for lunch we plumped for the Plough and what a good choice. Lovely food, friendly service and great atmosphere. Was even able to watch a bit of rugby. We plan to go back to the antiques cellar so we will see you again soon.

Always a warm welcome at our local. After a days packing, pre-moving, being waited on was just right for us. Friendly staff, great ambience, great food, even the chef came out for a chat! We will be back!!!!

Making a last minute decision to pop in for a steak was a good move for a Thursday evening. It’s great that the local butchers provide the meat - excellent quality and cooked exactly how I requested it. Great value, prompt and friendly service - thank you. Have lived in Brackley for almost 20 years and seen many changes in the pubs and restaurants, I think The Plough is one of the best pubs for food, drink, atmosphere, and service - well done. We will be back!

A week ago, my husband and I visited The Plough in Brackley for dinner and it was our first time there. Our 2 girls who live in Brackley took us. We had great service, wonderful meals from very varied menu's which catered for vegetarians, vegans, everybody! The staff were polite and willing to please. The Landlord - a very amicable and courteous man made us feel most welcome. There were 4 TV's including a massive screen and it was packed with people watching a football match. If we ever move to this spacious and pretty town, this Pub would definitely be our local.

A work reunion, we were told to meet here, cracking pub, very busy, but staff coped well. Good selection of ales, so I was happy. Will return shortly.

We were in England on vacation and ate at several pubs and this was the best. Food was excellent. The interior is like stepping back in time. If you are ever in the area try it, you won’t be disappointed.

We popped in on our way back from York with my 95 year old dad. The help and welcome was above and beyond and the food was good too. Amazing hospitality.

A lovely place for a catch up with friends and when you get a bit nibbly the food doesn’t disappoint. The Penang curry was lovely and fragrant. I went for the option of cauliflower rice and it was perfect. Something I’ve never tried before but I will be trying at home. You don’t forget good food and friends.

Visited The Plough with a friend for a meal and to listen to the live music. I have visited The Plough several times this year and have never had a bad meal yet. Last night was no exception, the food was delicious (we both had steak) and the service was excellent even though the pub was very busy.

The plough is very well furnished and has very good pub food. The landlord is very pleasant and welcoming. If you like football it's great, if you don't go in a day without football and it's a really enjoyable experience.

Always nice to see local produce being used. The meat we had was lovely. Sister had a choice off the Gluten free menu . We all said how nice the staff were & will definitely be booking another Sunday roast when we pass through again .

Had such a fantastic meal and time with the family recently. The atmosphere is great and the staff were always welcoming and extremely helpful. The selection of food available on the menu caters for a wide variety and the Plough has a very good selection of beers and spirits, especially if you like a gin!!!!

Owing to rail probs we had to change plans for our Golden Wedding Anniversary day at the last minute and took the local bus from Banbury [where we live] to Brackley. Just the two of us, we'd never been to The Plough at Brackley before but the welcome, food and drink were brilliant --- and this was before we told them about the occasion! We will definitely return.

We had dinner here both nights we were in town and loved it. Great food, service and atmosphere. The staff were outstanding and helped us to celebrate our nieces birthday here also. Highly recommend.

We’ve been using The Plough now for three years since moving to Brackley.

We popped in to this pub on an off chance to a friends as it was raining. It was lovely we both wanted to stay longer. Although we didn't eat here the food coming out to the people around us looked very yummy. The bar man was friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere was great. We just wished the weather was nicer as the outdoor patio area looked great. Would definitely reccomend a visit!

Went 3 times in 4 days while visiting family. The food was excellent and plentiful, including the vegetarian options. Staff was very friendly and welcoming each time and they even promised to look out for the aunt that we were visiting when we’re not there!! There were plenty of options for gin lovers along with all the usual drinks.

After a morning of doing a driving experience we just needed a nice place to get some nice food at a nice price.

Good pub food served in pleasant surroundings. There is a lot of football shown in the pub which is good for some people! Lunch times are best if you want to avoid sport!

Went for some food yesterday evening as a friend has just moved to Brackley and she was showing us the pubs. Lovely interior, very well decorated, with lovely but quiet staff and with a whole range of drinks, especially gins. The only problem is the food was not up to the standard of the pub - there was limited choice and then when the food came out, both the presentation of the food and the taste left a lot to be desired. Overall the pub was lovely, and if they improve their menu, I think the place has a lot of potential!

Sunny Easter Sunday visit, great pint of Camden Pale Ale. Football watchers well behaved and screens not too loud. Friendly polite staff. Will come again.

We’ve been frequent visitors to The Plough for two years, since we moved to Brackley. The food is always amazing, the service is exceptional, and they are amazing at working with dietary needs. I have Celiac and my son is allergic to dairy, eggs and tree nuts. We have eaten here more times than I can even attempt to count and none of us have ever been sick.

A very warm and friendly atmosphere with pleasant staff, good food, rugby and football coverage on Sky, log fires when cold, and a place to bring other family and friends.

Really nice ambience in this town pub for lunches and on some evenings. It is a sports pub but if you avoid the days they have football ( if like me you don't like football) on the various screens, it's really nice. The food is very good and varied. Very nice staff and very friendly landlord. Well worth a visit!

Love our thursday Steak visits with the girls. Service excellent, good food, nothing is too much of a bother. Always have booked in advance and the staff select a table for us that suits our on going custom.

If you want a simple meal, go when there isn't a football match on the TV. Food is very basic standard, not a great environment to eat in, and can be quite intimidating

Booked table for four Sunday Lunch 2nd December. Clean, lovely decor, cosy fireplaces, friendly, attentive - but not intrusive staff. Varied menu as they run main menu & specials in addition to Sunday Roast (this week was Turkey, Beef or Lamb). Hence all family members happy!

Been to this pub several times and it keeps getting better and better. We walked in last night (Weds 14th) at 6ish with no booking. The pub was quiet but felt so cosy, fires going and candles on all the tables. The rump steak was delicious as was the chocolate fudge cake. Didn't expect table service, as we usually order at the bar, but nothing was too much effort for the brilliant, friendly barman who attended us all evening despite appearing to be the only staff member on for most of the evening. He had a great knowledge of gin too which impressed the wife! We've eaten here a few times before and it's been good but this particular visit was excellent. We will be back for my birthday in a few months.

Came here with family for lunch & was amazed at how friendly everyone was. Soon realised this is a Sports pub but as soon as I walked in I was in conversation with regular customers so felt very relaxed, as did my Grandaughter.

We always try to find independent food businesses rather than a services or chain,we stopped here,on our way home from Stonehenge and sadly it wasn’t great.

This place is normally quite busy but they always seem to cope pretty well. Never seem lacking in staff. They look after the smokers well with plenty of outside seating as well as rain cover and heaters. You can't go far wrong with The Plough.

Nothing pretentious but friendly welcome and good pub grub. Good selection of beers. Food arrived quickly (but not too quickly) and staff seemed anxious to please.

We took my elderly father for lunch at this nice pub. The landlord was helpful,charming and welcoming. The staff were also. The menu is varied with something for every taste and is well prepared and reasonably priced. We shall visit again.

This is my second visit to the Plough for a meal and to watch Liverpool in the champions league while visiting my sister. Mark the manager went out of his way to accommodate us when we found that the Liverpool game was not being shown. What followed was a great evening of fine food and beer. And we won 3-0 happy days.

Such an enjoyable lunchtime. We had booked earlier in the week as we were a party of seven. The food was great, lots to choose from & the gluten free menu was much appreciated. The friendly atmosphere is a huge credit to the landlord who was attentive & considerate. We will look forward to returning.

Our first time visit to the Plough last night for a meal and to watch the football. What a great pub! The welcome from Mark & Carole was really friendly, we enjoyed an excellent pub meal (scampi for me & lasagne for my partner) at very good prices and a perfect bottle of wine. All the staff were great, the Champions League football on the big screen was great. What more could you wish for from your local pub? We shall definitely return

Mi hijo quería ir a un lugar de comida rápida, pero me lo convenció de que deberíamos intentar almuerzo en un pub. ¡Qué error. No me hubiera comido ese plato para 1000 libras. Decidimos no pedir plato alternativo porque si no que mal, que no tienen las habilidades para hacer que la comida estaba bien. Era la misma sensación que si lo hubiese hecho comida hace dos días y climatizada en horno de microondas. Además de que no había sabor, ni siquiera sal. ¿Cómo se puede probar de todo vacío de comida. Carne asada tenía toda grasa alrededor de ella y la parte real de carne estaba tan lejos de ser tierna que nunca he visto nada parecido. Me avergüenzo de la así felf personal de no darme cuenta de lo mala que era. Comida

Gran almuerzo de domingo la cantidad de comida en el plato. Combinado con un buen servicio no se podía pedir más.

As we were new to the area it can sometimes be a bit daunting finding a local, but although it is clear that this is a proper local (everyone chatting with everyone) we were not made once to feel out of place. The manager and staff are all incredibly friendly and make you feel very welcome!! Drinks menu is great and very well priced and the Sunday roasts (only food we've had so far) were spot on. Great options for sport and nice outside bit. Highly recommended whether your a local or not!

Come to The Plough to mainly watch football games and boxing & always stay for hours.It's a great pub, love the decor and landlord/bar staff are really friendly. Wouldn't choose any other pub in Brackley. Always a great atmosphere.

This pub is fantastic... it used to be quite dated.. now its been renovated, it is incredible.. Its ideal if you live in brackley because during the day the parking is not idea but still worth trying!

Came here for a Saturday lunch for the first time, had a few drinks and food, and watched a football match with the family. Had a great time with the family and good food. Will be going back to experience it this Friday night with just my husband. GF options too!

Dont get me wrong, if you only going for a sports bar like Rumor, then its fine, i hate sports. Ive been twice now for a roast dinner and have to say, the meat has always been lovely, but the veg and roasts have tasted like cr4p. The veg is over done, soggy and luke warm and the roast potatos are hard, oily and clearly double cooked. Its a shame because it looks like a lovely pub, but the food really lets it done.

I booked a table with Mark the manager a week in advance for 16 of us it was a very special family meal. He was happy to accommodate us late in the evening. Even though they were so busy that day everything went well. The staff were great and helpful and food was lovely. We felt looked after and had a great time there. The pub has been totally refurbished and it looks the part and a nice place to take people who arnt local. Thank you again to all the staff. Xxx
