Food and service is normally great but we were let down on valentines evening. We have 2 small kids so couldnāt visit, but pre ordered our takeaway for 7pm on their website. Didnāt turn up until 8pm, and the food wasnāt anything to shout about. Naan breads were cold and not much flavour in the curry. Such a shame as this is normally our favourite Indian restaurant.

Second time Iāve visited. Firstly, the food is fantastic, wonderfully flavoursome and a great choice. Interesting starters in particular, a bit different from standard āIndianā. The mains are either traditional Indian or off piste with more Nepalese fare. Both lovely. Great value with poppadom being offered free with starter instead of being fleeced Ā£4 for a āpickle trayā elsewhere. The value extends to mains at Ā£9/12 instead of the more usual Ā£15 now - but with superior quality. Secondly, a great atmosphere, military (Gurkha) memorabilia adorn the place, lovely staff, Gurkha references (and manners) everywhere. I was fortunate enough to meet and converse with the owner on my last visit, and he is a fascinating man (soldier). A really nice experience and my default stop when I stay here. Always fullish on a weekday, unlike surrounding area. Recommended.

This small restaurant punches above its weight. An extensive menu is always a risk but we found d that all the dishes we chose were well prepared, well presented, and tasted great. The portions are generous and presented in a matching style. There's a good spread of wine available. At first sight the restaurant feels a bit quirky - it is! But the food is excellent.

We went to eat in for Saturday's evening meal with friends. We definitely weren't disappointed. The food was lovely and the service as always was great, there but not there. There was a gentle hum of conversations from the many guests of all ages. We're very lucky to have the Basmati as our local & nearest restaurant.
