Absolutely incredible food…such a nice authentic little place, staff are incredibly friendly too, cannot recommend this place enough.

The restaurant was very busy - good sign! Our collection was great. all ready. The meals were excellent.

Amazing Food & Great Atmosphere – Highly Recommended! My partner and I had the pleasure of trying Tukpa, Laphing, and fried pig’s ears (which was also referred to as crispy Lotus ear)—and everything was absolutely delicious! The flavors were spot on, with no compromise on taste, and the atmosphere was just as enjoyable. The food was authentic, flavorful, and well-prepared, making it a truly memorable dining experience. The staff was warm and welcoming, creating a great family-friendly environment that made us feel right at home. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and would love to return in the future. If you’re looking for great food and an excellent atmosphere, I highly recommend this place!

Ate here as a family for the first time early yesterday evening and was really pleasantly surprised! It’s a small intimate setting and the staff were absolutely lovely, telling us some culture pieces and stories about Nepalese people and their dining etc. The food was stunning and they were more than happy to cater for and understand vegan food also. I’d highly recommend this restaurant to anyone local or visiting. It’s a dining experience. Don’t expect a cheap meal … but you really do get what you pay for. Look forward to visiting again soon!

All the food was excellent and very tasty. Cooked to our individual needs for spice. The seating was a little cramped putting 6 people around a table that is really suited for 4. Because of this it also made it difficult for the waiter to serve without bumping in to us. Would definitely recommend a visit.

I recently visited Ayo Gorkhali, a delightful Nepali restaurant tucked away in the heart of the town. The ambiance was warm and inviting, with subtle hints of Nepali culture in the décor, from traditional Thangka paintings to woven textiles. The service was friendly and attentive, making us feel right at home from the moment we stepped in. For starters, we tried the Momo, which was beautifully steamed and filled with a mix of tender chicken and spices. The accompanying dipping sauce was the perfect balance of heat and tang, enhancing the dish. For the main course, I opted for the Dal Bhat masu, a classic Nepali dish. The dal (lentil soup) was rich and flavorful, while the bhat (rice) was perfectly cooked and complemented the side of curried vegetables along side lamb and chicken curry,which is a must or you can also opt for vegetarian portion,if you are a veggie person. The portions were generous, and the flavors were authentic, making it clear that the chef takes pride in delivering a true Nepali experience. The dessert, Khir, a sweet rice pudding, was a comforting end to the meal—smooth and subtly sweet. Overall, Ayo Gorkhali, offers a wonderful introduction to Nepali cuisine. It combines rich flavors, fresh ingredients, and an inviting atmosphere, making it a must-visit for anyone looking to explore something new. I look forward to returning soon!

Our first visit here tonight, and a very friendly intimate atmosphere had. The food was lovely, loads of flavours. I'm intrigued to try something else of the menu on our next visit. Definitely recommend to give this intimate restaurant a try.

Never having eaten in Stafford we chose this restaurant based on the excellent Trip Adviser reviews and we were certainly not disappointed! Everything was delicious and freshly cooked … popadom are also the best. Highly recommend the chicken dansak it was exactly as it should be. The wines were also very good. Service was excellent and very friendly. This will definitely not be our last visit and you must not miss the opportunity to try this place if you come to Stafford.

A small Nepalese Restaurant in Stafford with a mixture of traditional Nepalese Food - variety of dishes available for both meat eaters and vegetarians. Me and my partner intend to make this place a regular and work our way through the menu. I would definitely recommend dropping in next time you want a bite to eat! I would definitely the mushroom fried rice as it was delicious I could eat a bucket of it!

Short review: Very flavourful and tasty food, fairly priced, and great service. Would highly recommend for evening meals and special occasions Long review: Came here with my girlfriend for dinner. She goes very regularly, and I had been a few times. I ordered the chicken shashlik, and she ordered the chicken korma. Between the two of us we also got pilau rice, lamb momos, and garlic naan bread The momos were very juicy, and had a lot of flavour. They went very well with the curry dip they came with. Some of the best dumplings I've had, and I would highly recommend this starter The chicken shashlik was colourful and vibrant looking, with the marinated chicken and a range of fresh looking vegetables. The chicken was very juicy, and tender enough that my knife cut through like butter. It tasted like it had been marinated for a long time, because the yoghurt and spices penetrated all the way through the meat. The saltiness of the chicken was balanced by the light acidity and sweetness of the tomato based sauce. The dish also came with some shredded cabbage, a tomato slice, and half of a roasted onion. The onion was roasted to the point of being sweet, but still had a bit of crunch left. Overall it tasted like a dish that was made with a lot of care for the ingredients, would highly recommend Although I didn't eat the korma myself, my girlfriend said that it is her regular dish. She let me try a piece of chicken, which was similarly tender and flavourful. The korma had a very nice sweetness from the coconut, and the sauce had a nice texture. The garlic naan tasted fresh and had a nice crisp to it, and the pilau rice was perfectly cooked with some very light seasoning added to compliment the stronger tasting dishes While the food did arrive slightly later than we had expected due to an error on the system (not the staff's fault), we were offered some free drinks as an apology. The staff were overall very friendly and attentive, as I've always noticed when I've been to this place before. Definitely worth a visit if you haven't been already. The best Nepalese food I've had, and one of the best restaurants in Stafford. The food is priced very reasonably especially considering the quality, and the food itself is consistently amazing

A small Nepalese restaurant in Stafford. Lots of choices on the menu. I'm on a low or no salt diet. They were so kind to speak to the chef and not add any salt to my food where they could. I recommend reserving a table it is a small restaurant. We had starters of vegetable samosa, lamb steamed mono and calamari. For mains we had chilli dry chicken, chicken noodle, barbeque prawn with Nepali roti, a plain naan and a shawarma naan. We just realised we paid for pilau rice, but didn't receive it. The bill came to £103.68 for three ciders, a cranberry juice and two glasses of red wine. All the food was nice, and piping hot. I brought some of mine home to eat the next day. Definitely go back the food is nice and the service is very good.

I hate to say it but my experience was slightly disappointing overall. The food was fantastic, no complaints about that whatsoever but the service was slow, the restaurant was cold and one of our orders was incorrect. Firstly, there only seemed to be one person doing everything from taking orders, taking bookings, handing out food and handing out the bills. This made service slower than i expected and on a Friday night really needs someone else. Secondly, a junior assistant appeared at one point to help hand out food but wouldn't hand it out until the other assistant had finished collecting a bill, presumably in case he made a mistake. Unfortunately, two of our orders still got confused meaning one of us had a mild curry and one had a medium one that she struggled to eat. Finally, the entrance door sticks on the carpet meaning many people entering or leaving left the door wide open to the street. That wasn't particularly great for atmosphere and it meant the room was cold - so cold that another couple requested to be moved.

Decided to visit this Nepalese restaurant after reading the great reviews. Disappointment all around. First got seated right by the door even though there were more spaces available. As you can imagine, every time another customer arrives, cold air reminds us there is a very cozy and warm looking restaurant just next door. So we asked to be moved away and we were taken in the back room to be seated for the second time. Menus felt sticky and quite "well used". We placed our order starters, mains, bottle of wine and table water. The wine was brought to us in a wine cooler full of water and as you imagine, every time the the wine glasses were refilled, the table got covered in water. The water had to be requested multiple times and was brought to us in a pint glass, room teperature. We witnessed starters being given to customers who hadn't ordered yet, then taken away and served to a table right next to them. Same with mains, it was almost like you had to raise your hand as the food came out of kitchen that looked like yours, to have it brought to your table. One server spoke and understood no English at all, the other was running all over the place, bumping into people. My cutlery was placed by him holding the "teeth" of the fork in his hand after I had witnessed him walking and touching his nose (good thing I was planning on eating the authentic, eat by hand kind of way). Disorganised, messy and disapointing, did hear an excuse that they are new to the place. The main server never took off his puffer jacket, again, not a big deal but it does give the place a very cheap, run down kind of feel. Food itself was ok, nothing really special.

Ordered from here for the first time after hearing great reviews about the place. Had a lamb starter that turned out to be lamb tikka which was very chewy. The masala sauce didn’t have the right flavour either. Being more expensive than most places I had higher hopes. Delivery also turned up later than they said it would. Don’t think I’ll be ordering again. Might be different if you eat in.

One of our favourite places to eat when we are in Stafford. The staff are friendly, the food delicious and the decor reminiscent of a trekking tea house in Nepal.

Stopped by for a work visit. Fanatic food and the owners really care about the food and will happily talk you through all the Nepalese dishes. The 'Nepalese menu' was fantastic and loads of food.

Small family owned restaurant serving authentic Nepalese food sounded to me like a good idea for dinner during a rainy night. Their menu has a wide variety of choices, which left me a bit puzzled as a tourist. They indicate the spice level next to every meal, which I found useful even though I had my doubts that it will be spicy adjusted to the English taste, unfortunately my doubts were later confirmed. Since I was in doubt which meal to order, I decided to go for a meal that serves several different curries in small sizes so I get to try as much as I can. Honestly, the food was tasty but I was expecting better for some reason, nevertheless I don't regret my experience there, maybe Nepalese food isn't just really my thing. We arrived a bit late for dinner so I had the feeling they were trying to rush us a bit so that they can close for the day, which even though I understand, but I still felt a bit unwelcomed. Maybe I will get a chance to try this restaurant another time and get to change my perspective.

What a fabulous restaurant! From the moment we walked in, we were warmly welcomed, a warmth that was felt until the moment we left. We were shown to our table and talked through the extensive menu by a very knowledgeable hostess. After listening to our preferences, recommendations were made. We started off 'safe', ordering the sheikh kebab equivalent and then the Pyaji, onion bhajee. Both were very flavourful and the pyaji was wonderfully crispy. My husband's main course was the recommended Chicken Chilli Dry Fry with Dill Rice - he was very impressed with the flavour and texture of the dish. I was delighted to hear that there was a Nepalese tasting platter (I love having small plates of food to experiment with different tastes) and it certainly was a wonderful taste experience - today, I elected to have the vegetarian tasting dish. We ordered a garlic nan to accompany the meal. The dining experience was fabulous from start to finish and it will not be too long before we return. This restaurant is a real hidden little gem - I thoroughly recommend that you try it.

Top top restaurant, a gem. Came in for a meal on recommendation, surpassed our expectations. The food was fresh, delicious and authentic. The waiter was knowledgible and had obvious passion for Nepalese culture and cuisine. Nepalese Beers decent, too. Will gladly return.

Lovely attentive staff and friendly service. Our waiter had been a mountain tour guide. We could have talked to him for ages. In relation to the food, the spices come direct from Nepal.

This place is off the chain, not from Stafford but went on our weekend here. Food is bussin’ and the staff are so lovely, gave us loads of recommendations so we had a bunch of new dishes which were all delicious. Really can’t go wrong, might have to bus down and come here again 👀🚌💨

Spoiled by the mushroom rice! We had four different dishes, two lamb, two chicken which were all absolutely delicious. I had the lamb Xacuti, outstanding with falling apart lamb and great flavours. Also had three rices, plain and pilau, excellent. But…! The mushroom rice was absolutely disgusting. See picture. Not only were there no mushrooms in it, it seemed to just have half a tin of cheap tinned mixed vegetables and three heaped teaspoons of salt in it. Honestly, it was inedible because of the salt. Why? Everything else was excellent and then this. If they’d run out of mushrooms just tell us and let us choose something else. You had our phone number. This was ordered for delivery at 6pm on a week day. How can you run out of mushrooms? Anyway, I’d definitely eat from there again because it was delicious but FFS do something about your mushroom rice!

We take out or eat in regularly. They have the best momos in town. So yummy 😋 I would recommend their noodles too 🍜 Chatpata is my go to starter and grilled paneer, nan,bhojanalaya curry, biryani are so other favourite. Staff is absolutely friendly.

I tried this restaurant while i visited Stafford. As i was new to the place, i checked the online reviews to find the good restaurant near me and this one had the highest rating. The food was good as the ratings. The only thing i thought could be better was the momos. The dishes were delicious and the flavour of spices made it feel like having indian food. If you are a person who likes spicy foods, make sure visit this restaurant.

Went last night. 2 of us. Had a great time. Food and service excellent. Lovely simple environment. Will go back with a larger crowd for sure and I look forward to that.

Spontaneous decision to go out for food (child free!) - Googled ‘food in Stafford’ and came across Ayo Gorkhali, 10mins later table booked for 730pm. Chilled atmosphere, greeted with exceptional service… and wow! What a taste sensation the food is, can highly recommend - we over indulged and the team couldn’t be prouder to serve such traditionally made and carefully considered freshly cooked food from their home country x

Food and service is always excellent. Staff are so polite and welcoming. We travel 40 minutes to eat here because of how good the food is. There is no dish I wouldn’t recommend and the dill rice is so unique.

Been looking at trying here for ages, just wish we'd tried it sooner. We were sat around the back but it was comfortable and simply but suitably decorated .The service was good and the food was fantastic. The calamari is the best I've ever had, and both the lamb and the duck were beautifully tender and full of flavour. The portions are plentiful and well presented. We both tried dessert I had the cottage cheese one which sounded strange but was very nice and my partner had the milk based one, which was equally as nice, both were very sweet though. Good value for money and well recommend.

First time trying Nepalese food, good flavours (tasted similar to Indian food)and decent quantity . We had pork steamed momos for starters and took non veg thali meal (loved dal curry) and ayo ghorkhali tandoori special for mains (mixed grill meat chicken prawns-tender, soft, nicely marinated and good flavours )and rice pudding as dessert. Staff was friendly and good atmosphere in restaurant with nice Nepalese song in background.

I booked this restaurant for our anniversary njght out having seen it a few times and being intrigued by Nepalese cuisine having never been before. A small cozy environment was just what we wanted. What a little gem of a place! The food was excellent, the staff attentive and the price was brilliant. The menu is clear and the staff ask you how spicy you want your food. A nice little safety net if you're a bit cautious. There's quite a lot of lamb on the menu with the other options being chicken or vegetable. I had thr Nepalese set meal which was a superb selection of different dishes, with the other half closing the Nepalese Curry. We ordered a few sides we've not had before as well. We wanted to experience the best and we got it. The drinks menu is also interesting with the Nepalese Gurkha Beer my choice and the Himalayan Red Wine was also lovely. We loved the whole experience here. We will definitely be returning or ordering a takeaway soon! Highly recommend to book to save disappointment. It's only a small place after all!

We went for a quite meal on a sunday night Two very drunk people walked in they was very loude swearing been rude to staff kept getting up shouting. They was very aggressive and we felt very unsafe. Some one did come over to us and apologis but did nothing about them The final straw was when the lady was sick in her food and carried on eating We paid and walked out I contacted the owner of the restaurant said we understand that you cant help who comes into your restaurant but they should have been asked to leave. Our evening was ruined and a complete waste of our money He said he was sorry they upset his staff as well, he watched the CCTV and could see us and what we witnessed but did not seen to care Clearly he does not value our business We eat here lots of time but never again

Had a takeaway last week. Food is tasty and the staff are pleasant. Probably my mistake for not checking but not all of what we had ordered was included. Used the contact process via the website but not had a response. There is a growing number of very good Asian restaurants in Stafford so there is stiff competition if customers are left a little disappointed. That said, I can’t fault the food which we did receive.

Had the main with multiple curries, lovely selection , choice of hot which which was perfect temp. Momo great starters.

Best restaurant in the town by far .

I have been visiting this restaurant for many years now, It's finally time for a review. I have previously visited with friends with my partner and with my family, aways book a table as the restaurant is quite small, however the food is sensational, I personally recommend the Timu Piro (Lamb) as I have never tasted anything like it and I cannot replicate it. The dill rice is also something which I have never seen on a menu before and if that was ever to be removed I'd be gutted. The staff are always really friendly, in particular - Mr.Chabbai Rai. If I had to choose my final meal it would definitely be here. Me and my family travel 40 minutes to eat here and its definitely worth it. Please keep up the hard work and wonderful flavours. I can't wait to visit again.

Me and my partner ate here for the second time, first time being a fortnight ago. Honestly cannot recommend this place enough! The food is so fresh and delicious, not greasy/oily at all and you can tell they really care about the quality of their ingredients and cooking. The meat in the starters and mains was so tender, the pork momos were divine and the himalayan chicken was very tasty. We will certainly continue coming here for the best food we have tasted in Stafford by far. Thank you so much to the wonderful staff that are so welcoming also. Fantastic!

Fantastic and consistent quality, friendly service. The only thing that lets this place down is the fine details. Menu's dropping to bits and the same with the table mats. Just this attention to detail would make dining here a spot on experience. I'm not really picking flies but it's just the icing on the cake. Not a criticism, just an observation.

Makes a change from your typical restaurant/take-outs. The service was great I couldn't fault it. We really enjoyed our mains (I had the chicken sahi medium spice) but the momo starters were a little disappointing. They were slightly oily and the filling was dry and a little bland. But I rate the mains highly. The atmosphere left a little to be desired. I would say 3.5 star as a restaurant, 4.5 star as a take out hence the 4star middle ground. Staff were all lovely though.

Ordered a takeaway from here as have always had the best food while eating in the restaurant. Looks as though the food was not cooked fresh to order but previously frozen as the two curry dishes were swamped in water. Not the quality we would get from eating in and for the money paid, should be freshly prepared.
