This is a fantastic food location with a lovely atmosphere. The road on which it is located has a lot of strong contenders for great food with a wonderful welcome, but we can confirm that the breakfast and coffee are superb. We will be back, both for more breakfast but also to try the lunch and dinner menus, the latter of which is a Texan BBQ focus 🤤

This is the second or third time I've ordered the buy one get one free burgers And while they're good value. The chicken burgers yesterday were stone cold and Rock solid as if they were old and kept in a hot box and the loaded chips were literally thrown together with no care. The chips are always cold and old. It was just a congealed mess. The hamburgers are also not great quality considering they're supposedly " gourmet". If I'd have paid full price I would have been absolutely livid. Even if they are buy one get one free surely the minimum you can expect is to have hot fresh chicken in the burgers. The first time I ordered it was great. Fresh chicken and very tasty. The last two times the biggest have been cold and overall not good quality. I'd say if you're on a budget. Give this place a go but you're really are rolling a dice on what you'll get in terms of consistency.

Enjoyed the cocktails but can’t help but think the staff were trying to rip me off attempting to charge me full price for my drinks during happy hour. I don’t know, just felt like it was a deliberate attempt at taking full price from me and then acted dumb and blaming the constantly changing menu apparently … not tonight.. you picked the wrong person.

I really wish I could give this place 5 stars but what should have been a great evening left me feeling disappointed. The food itself was amazing and everyone at the table loved it. The service, however, left a lot to be desired. We arrived for our 5.30 booking only to be told we weren’t in the system. We provided our email proof from 3 weeks earlier and it took 2 staff members to find us a table, with them saying ‘Luckily the 5pm table didn’t show up so you can sit here.’ If the 5pm table had arrived would we have been turned away, despite booking in advance? We were given menus and told someone would be over soon to take our orders. In that time we saw 2 more tables enter, be seated and have their orders taken whilst we sat there. 30 minutes passed before we were even asked if we wanted to order drinks. At this point tables that arrived after us had already ordered their food. We were also told ‘Your booking was messed up because someone had sat you accidentally and then removed your booking altogether.’ I understand human error but it felt like we were being told that they had basically deleted our booking and if we didn’t have proof we wouldn’t have gotten a table. We finally began receiving our starters and everyone at the table loved them. We had to ask the server to take our empty glasses away and order more drinks and it seemed as if none of the servers knew what the others were doing. One checked on us and said she would return with drinks but then another came to clear and asked us about ordering more drinks - I understand the confusion if it was a large restaurant but there are only about 9 tables in total! The sharing platters arrived for the mains and there were no complaints to be had with the food - it was all amazing. At 7.20 (about an hour from when we’d first had our starters), our platters were cleared and then we were asked if we wanted dessert. A member of the party asked for the menu to take a look and was told ‘If you want dessert it will have to be quick as you need to leave the table by 7.30.’ We were all shocked and extremely disappointed as we had not been told we would be limited to a time frame for the table. Due to the error with seating us and waiting 30 minutes for an order to be taken we’d been rushed through our meals and only had an hour at most to eat. We even checked our email to see if it was mentioned in the booking, only to find there’s none. What was most disappointing was seeing tables that had arrived before us still eating and chatting whilst we were being told to vacate the table. It felt like we were unwanted from the start by the staff. We did have dessert - at another restaurant that wanted our custom! We had heard such great things regarding this place but I’m not sure I will return unless I feel like being forgotten about and rushed through a meal.

A relaxed ambience and attentive staff. Expectations were high with a £78 set menu (3 courses). We both had the pork belly to start which was very tasty and succulent. I had a sirloin and my husband a rump steak for main. These were very disappointing. The sirloin was extremely tough and chewy - almost inedible. I swapped for my husbands rump as this was less chewy but still far from an acceptable standard for the cost of the menu. Very poor quality meat - as it appeared to be cooked as requested (medium rare) - but so hard. My husband had the cheeseboard for dessert - nothing special, akin to what you’d pay £7/8 for in a pub. I had the pavlova which was very nice - but again, didn’t really reflect the cost. Overall a very disappointing experience. £185 for the two menus and two Heineken beers. Extortionate - hugely overpriced for the food served.

Warning! Security a major issue at this hotel. A year ago, a group of us (6 women) stayed here for a university reunion. Around 2am, a drunken, naked male guest burst into the room of one of our group and exposed himself while she was lying, terrified in bed. After screaming at him, he left only to re-enter a second time a few minutes later. She had locked the door after the first intrusion so it was with horror that she realised he was using a hotel key card. She screamed and thankfully, he left again. The police were called and investigations began. We learned that the intruder had entered other rooms. CCTV showed drunken male guests running through the corridors around the time the incident occurred. We later learned that the hotel is largely unmanned. Access to keys behind Reception appeared to be easy. The locks on a lot of doors were flimsy with no extra chain lock available. We assumed that the intruder would quickly be found. However, the police told us (reportedly) that the hotel did not co-operate fully and the case was closed after 6 weeks! We have put pressure on the police, at various levels, for 12 months to re-open the case but unsuccessfully. We all felt that telling the truth by leaving a review, would severely damage the business/reputation of this small hotel. With no resolution to the enquiry, we now have no choice but to protect other female guests and stop them from making the same choice.
