Update: visited again, and the food was again awesome. This time, the service was delayed, busy, and a little confused, but it's a small price to pay for the fabulous food.

The food is fantastic. Fresh. Light. So much flavour. Service is friendly. Love that they kept the Dark Horse logo and styling.

Lovely food, brilliant service, BUT not impressed at being asked to leave our table at 9, was booked from 7 pm and not having time for desert or coffee or a post dinner liquer after spending £178 - wasn't impressed as there's no where to sit after being asked to leave - we were virtually thrown out into the street ! Don't like greedy restaurants - you can't dine in 2 hours - very unimpressed !!

Great place. Fairly new I think hence not many reviews. One phone call and a feel of the buzz inside convinced me. Sam made sure my food was cooked as I liked it- in ghee. Care was taken in how my food was prepared and everything was delicious, including all the Chutney tray which I had without poppadom. Top find. Don't miss it in the Mumbles.

We went in without booking. The restaurant was full all evening so we had to go back. Have to say the food was delicious and well worth the wait. Highly recommend this place. The guy running it said he had only taken over the establishment a few weeks prior to our visit. It was the most delicious Asian food l think l have ever tasted. We all enjoyed what we ordered. Definitely if you are in the area make a booking. I will be returning to The Mumbles with my kids just to go back to The Dark Horse. It will be worth the eight hour trip to get there. I've previously been to the Dark Horse many times, before it became and Indian Restaurant. I have to say, the food here is on another level. We had one of the nicest meals in a long time with our family, and they perfectly accommodated the 6 (plus one baby) of us. The staff are super attentive, and the food just speaks for itself. It takes a while to come out, but it's all cooked from fresh and is well worth the wait! Really lovely place to have some real authentic food.

2nd best Indian in mumbles. Depends what you go out for. The Golden Curry is still my favourite . However…. Loved this place. Cocktails on the menu! Load chilled music, but not too loud. Very friendly staff. Dim atmospheric lighting, but not too dim. Main drag location on Mumbles Rd. my favourite table is the high one, in the corner, in the window, great for people watching. Felt like a real treat to be out. Beware this place has only had an Indian theme this year… after being shut for ages….older poor reviews were for a totally different menu, staff and I’m guessing management.

A good curry but there are better restaurants in Mumbles/ Swansea. Although the menu looks alternative it is standard curry dishes. In comparison to others a bit pricy. Note: service charge added to bill. Good fast service.

Very good Indian food. We arrived late in the service but they accepted us anyway. Our 3 different curries were all excellent. The waiter was friendly. The restaurant room and bar are nice. We recommend!

Really enjoyed our visit to the dark horse mumbles. Absolutely gorgeous food ( we had the chicken karahi and shashlik) and it is hands down the best Indian food I've had. Friendly service, good atmosphere and most importantly good quality food. We will be back regularly. Please keep up the excellent standards!!! Love it.

Stopped in mumbles overnight last night and was fancied some Indian food, recommended to eat here by accommodation owner, great food, really tasty and well presented. This place will be really successful, service was a little slow but no problems.

Gorgeous food, lovely ambience, young staff so maybe a *little* slow but so nice to sit and have a drink there you just didn't mind. Really busy for a Tuesday! Dog friendly,people friendly and will definitely visit again!

Delicious lunch for 4. Really superb curry (3 different types all high quality) excellent naan, pulau and keema rices also cooked to perfection.

Called in on a Monday evening, we were shown to a table close to the bar area, the "restaurant" ? was quiet when we arrived. 30 mins later it was full, nice atmosphere there until the arrival of a family attempting to find a table in an already full room. Ended up eating our food 2ft away from a bloke with mastic on his trousers drinking on the bar stool sitting above us and a pushchair alongside us. waiting for our table !! As for the food ?? very uninspiring & bland, service ?? poor. Manager in his fancy suit ,,clueless. "pile them in take their cash" Never again.

Excellent meal, we had starters and mains, and the food was delicious. Best Indian we have had in a while. The samosas served with chickpeas was super tasty. Had Lamb Rogan Josh and Murgh Malai Tikka had excellent layering in the spices. Great atmosphere and super friendly staff.

Luckily I had booked a table as really busy even st 6pm on a Saturdsy evening. Foof was excellent, had the best chicken tikka starter ever and the lamb special was really lovely. Service was prompt and we will definately go back.

Popped in for a light lunch and chose four if their side plates.We chose yhe calamari, chilli chicken, samosas and potato dushes. They were all so delicious, we will definitely pop back again for an evening meal. Friendly staff, lovely atmosphere, a great asset to the village.

Popped in for a light lunch and so pleased we did. We ordered 4 small plates between 2 people, chilli chicken, potato dish, samosa dish, and calamari. All dishes were so tasty, some if the best authentic Indian food we have had in ages. Took us back to our time in India. Happy days. The atmosphere and decor was lively, together with such friendly staff. A real asset to the village and we can't wait to visit again during an evening with friends.

Cannot fault the food. Was nice. Drinks expensive. Service very poor. However we did leave a good tip BUT hidden away at the bottom of the bill was £35.00 service charge. No one advised us of this. So they had £55.00 tip. My fault for not checking the bill. £375.00 for 6 adults and 3 kids was in my opinion expensive. So check your bill!

I popped in to the Dark Hirse to use their toilet. On leaving the food looked so nice and well presented that I booked a table later in the evening. The food was amazing. We had the somosa's, salmon and garlic chicken with rice and salad. It had beautiful flavours, was well presented and the service was very good with lovely friendly staff. Definitely would recommend.

Lovely atmosphere and very busy on a Friday night . We ordered the special lamb Rogan Josh which was one of the nicest lamb curries we have ever had , also had the chicken jalfrezi this too was exceptionally good . Staff very friendly and attentive . Will definetly return when we are in the area again .

First and last time I’ll ever go there. Booked a table for 5, when we arrived there was no table available got offered a table that was so high the food would have been level with my chin. Got moved to a table that was a table for 4 with a chair stuck on the end so one of us was constantly bumped by passers by. The tables are too small for a restaurant, more suited to a coffee shop. One other real issue was for a restaurant of this size only having 1 toilet for both men and women, with people queuing next to dinners. Not a great experience. Food was average at best. Poppadoms were soft could not be snapped had to be torn, obviously been out for hrs. Starters were ok, but when the main course arrived, we had no plates or utensils, and had to wait for them. Mains were ok tasted as if the ad been sat around for a long time and warmed up. Staff were friendly and doing there bets but there seemed to be no organisation or leadership, complete chaos. At just over £40 a head very disappointing. I know that have only just opened as an Indian restaurant but they have a way to go if they with to complete with any of the already established Indian restaurants in the area.

Nice place, nice atmosphere and good staff. We had 6 tapas dishes. A couple were pretty good but the rest were a little underwhelming. I well go back to try other dishes and hope for a better result. Reopened as a curry house now June 2024 visit. Staff were good. Service was good. Music was a little intrusive and almost odd for a restaurant. Not a fan. Food was OK but my tarka dall and alsoo gobi were very salty. Disappointed by the onion bhaji as too small/ overcooked. My wife liked he butter chicken. Also quite expensive. Sorry guys but I don't think we will be back.

They recently change to an Indian and the food is outstanding! I was very impressed with the quality of the food. However, the service needs a little polishing but everyone was trying hard, so I am not complaining, the team are new and will get there. I really do recommend a visit but go in to it with the view it is new and they are still learning. Once they master the service, they will be a phenomenal venue in Mumbles.

This will be a very fine curry restaurant once they get over a few minor teething problems. The kitchen produced some excellent food. The lamb rogan josh was full of large pieces of tender lean lamb in a wonderful flavoursome sauce. The chicken bhuna was spicy, the chicken shaslik was plentiful and tender and the chicken tikka masala was creamy and enjoyed. Service was attentive and charming. The only downside were a few drinks missing as the restaurant has only just opened and wasn't yet fully stocked. I would like to give them a 5 star rating, but they didn't have the real ale I wanted. I would certainly happily revisit.

Ate here today and we had lots of small plates. Delicious. Burrata chat, creamy mozzarella on crispy discs with an Indian twist, gorgeous Bombay potatoes side plus 4 other plates and roti. Good portions freshly cooked. Can't wait to go back. Lovely staff and service

Fresh Indian food , nice homely atmosphere.

We had an amazing family meal here on the weekend. The food was 10/10, lovely authentic Indian food and large portions - great value for money. Particularly loved the burrata and the biriyani. Will definitely be returning!

A surprise! Excellent Indian food, nice staff, welcoming atmosphere. We recommend to combine some of the small plates, they are really interesting and cover a good variety of flavours.

pre cooked dried out food that's just warmed up and served, horrible lattes with the worst customer service, under staffed and the service was terrible, girl behind the counter was constantly on the phone took forever to make the coffees that tasted horrific, food was left on the side under the lamps for about 15 minutes while she stood there chatting away on the phone then walked outside to the point the chef had to bring food over, food was some of the worst we've had all shrivelled and dried out clearly pre cooked and just warmed up, will not be visiting again, paying nearly 30 pounds for 2 breakfasts and coffees I'm normally happy to pay for if it tastes good and the service is good but this was far from that, avoid at all costs this place is awful, never experienced such poor customer service and professionalism didn't even get an apology after complaining to the chef when food arrived, would give a zero rating if I could

I visited dark horse last night after a terrible meal out elsewhere where I was served raw food! So by time I reached dark horse I was starving and a bit deflated as I was celebrating a new job. The topic came up in conversation with Tegan who served us. Tegan, told the chef about my bad night who did something extra special and doubled up my burger with extra fries and a free Prosecco. I just wanted to say thank you as I was so down before and it really made my night! Also the food is great, been a few times in the last month and not been disappointed.

Was my first time here, the food was amazing, i ordered the mac & cheese and the portions were massive, i also had the bueno hot chocolate and to my surprise it was very tasty and had unique flavours. Tegan was my server and she made me feel extremely welcome, the service was fast, would recommend if you fancy a calm meal, good prices too!

Awful experience. Short staffed. The one front of house person served 2 tables who arrived after us. We waited 30 minutes and we’re not even asked if we wanted to put in our coffee order. We were a party of 8. We left. A great shame as we have eaten here many times and we’re very much looking forward to our brunch. Certainly the last time any of us will set foot in there.

Not impressed to see a dog sitting ON THE TABLE !!! This is an eating and drinking establishment ! Very unhygienic ! Staff member chatting away oblivious to a large dog sitting on the table ! Why ??? If you’re going to be dog “ friendly “ fine , but keep dogs on the floor !

Called in just for a coffee and after seeing meals being sent out I fancied something to eat all I wanted was a snack the ever so helpful Amanda suggested the the Serrano ham cheese toastie and I must say I highly recommend it after eating it the staff were very helpful especially Amanda you will not be disappointed

Booked a table for 7.30pm which we were shown too but noticed a smaller table in the corner so asked if we could swap,the very displeased member of staff begrudgingly agreed with an if you want attitude,took it upon myself to wipe the table myself as she clearly couldn't be bothered,ordered drinks with another much more pleasant member of staff who also took our food order that we then waited nearly an hour for,tapas was pretty basic but that wasn't the worst of it,I slipped as I was coming out of the toilet (which was a tad grubby) just by the kitchen door (in flat shoes I might add) which was quite clear to the less pleasant member of staff and the entire table she was serving who looked at me like I was s**t on their shoe without asking if I was OK,mentioned this to another member of staff who said they'd inform who ever needed informing but nothing else was said !!! Little side note about the aforementioned table of 'ladies' who had a yappy dog sat on the chair next to them - really don't think you should be allowing dogs on the furniture of where other customers are going to be eating,whilst you may be dog friendly it is not a home environment and shouldn't be treated as so.

Found the staff really nice and helpful with the dog too. Service was prompt and that was with only a small number of staff. Would definitely go back.

Lovely food and a diverse selection to choose from. We had the chefs special 'mushroom risotto' with a few nibbles and they were all delicious. The halloumi with avocado surprised us with the amount of flavour that was packed in. Only VERY minor 'negative' point is that the young man who was serving us was practically running the whole front of house alone. It wasn't exactly busy, he was lovely and understood the wait we endured was probably longer than expected and apologised accordingly for this. The wine glass my partner was served had lipstick/red substance all around the rim. This all would have probably been averted if he had sufficient help.

Some font of house staff are so indifferent to customers. Very slow to clean tables - absolute minimum done. Outside tables messy. Under tables dirty with rubbish. It's a pity as the food and atmosphere are great.

Aaron the Head Chef was awesome. Came out and had a lovely chat. He was happy to accommodate us and seemed to seamlessly run the show. Nothing was too much bother... The other waitress staff were quite poor but he more than made up for their inadequecies

My partner and I went for a romantic date on a Saturday evening. Upon our arrival the bar was full and another couple were sitting at our table which seemed to be kicked out by the staff to make room for us. The staff seemed disorganised with the two waiting staff trying to do everything at once and failing to really do anything well. The bar had live music that was just starting up as we arrived and the singer could sing rather well. Unfortunately the volume of the speaker was so deafening to begin with that I could not hear my partner across the table. This was then eventually turned down to a manageable volume and proved and enjoyable background ambience. However after the singer sang four songs and took a short break she was approached by a staff member and asked to leave which obviously upset her. This was very odd given the small amount of time the singer had actually sung and resulted in her having to carry her equipment though the bar in the middle of service. We then ordered our tapas which took 50 minutes to arrive. I would describe the food as mediocre. Nothing to write home about but a solid 6 out of ten. The portion sizes were small and I would not order the cauliflower again as it was not the best. When we went to order our second round of tapas at 2100hrs we were told that the kitchen had closed and was no longer taking orders. Despite this others then ordered meals after we had been told the kitchen was closed. There was no prior warning of this closure and no explanation as to why others could order but we could not. Overall a strangely confusing experience that was really frustrating for us. I would not look to go again as I was disappointed by the visit.

1st time visiting. 4 of us went for breakfast on Sunday. We arrived at 9.30 so we're the second table to sit. It was lovely inside,the atmosphere was relaxed . We all ordered coffees and a dark horse breakfast. The coffee and breakfast was spot on , big portions and strong coffee. The only gripe I have was the service but to be fair there was one girl and she was doing everything!! Taking orders,making drinks etc and serving the food. There must have been limited chefs also because the 2 things I wanted on the menu were unavailable . We were in there for an hour and half but again, the food was so good and the girl was lovely . I will defo be visiting again.

A lovely spot for dinner. We ordered multiple small plates to share, and were very happy with what we ordered! Family friendly, and the staff (I believe it was Ruby, in particular) was very helpful in letting us know about things to do in the area.

Before I start I have to confess, I am a fussy eater . The food was fresh and tasted amazing. I highly recommend the Fritto Misto di Mare (bucket of fish ) omg delightful.

Always have been a regular to the Dark Horse but I returned today after a holiday, I found that it was under new management…and it shows. We entered the Dark Horse sat down and waited for our server. It was not crowded with only 2 tables occupied. After what seemed a long time we ordered our usual food, a toastie and a burger, and after waiting 20 mins we noticed my wife’s toastie was placed on the counter ready to serve. It remained there for at least 5 minutes until my food was ready, and then it was all brought to the table. The toastie was best described as warm and burnt. We asked to have this replaced which was returned to us in no better condition. My Burger was very tasty but nowhere near what the original burgers quality I was used to. Added to this was a small price increase which made it more disappointing. May I suggest to the new owners that when staff are balancing the accounts, do not leave large amounts of money on the table in open view of all to see right next to customers. In my view the Dark Horse has taken a backward step but could so easily be remedied with a tiny bit attention to detail.

We stumbled on this little gem after arriving in The Mumbles yesterday morning. Beautiful decor and a friendly welcome from chef as we entered. The waiter (from Blackburn) was brilliant and a real credit to the restaurant - started chatting as I was curious about...

Tegan our server was so attentive and friendly. There was a good selection of vegetarian small plates and the food was tasty.

Tegan was amazing brilliant service can’t fault her attentive service but not just to us but all customers she was a cretic to the owners, new chef but just as nice really enjoyed our evening and would recommend and definitely go again

Went for some drinks with a few friends - spectacular! The bartender, Sam, mixed us some fabulous drinks 🍹 I was served by a young lady called seren who even helped us get a bus home afterwards. Staff 10/10, food 10/10, overall great time. It’s a beautiful spot, that’s incredibly welcoming and definitely worth the money spent. Would highly recommend!!!

Went for brunch and was served by two lovely ladies! Both were polite and welcoming. Food was beautiful and cooked to perfection, thanks to Zak and Cameron! Will be coming back again :)

Relaxed, friendly place with great front of house staff. Ruby was very kind and professional. Food was well cooked and portions generous.

The food is varied, healthy, delicious and a little out of the ordinary. I had the tapas, brocolli with manchego, almonds and lemon and the hummus which came with two different types and plenty of sourdough bread. The chips are crispy and the cakes are great values. Compliments to the chefs, Cameron and Zach! Also vegan-friendly.

Really disappointed with the service and the food. Food was cold after a very long wait for it to come out. The place only had two other tables so don’t know what the issue was. Extortionate prices for such low quality service and tiny meal...

Every single thing in this bar/restaurant is on point. My partner and I visited Swansea for the day and was recommended this place and I’m so happy they did. First of the bar it’s self is beautiful from the logo to the decorations and atmosphere....

Poor service, slow service, complete mix up with food orders , blame put on staff who had worked there two days !! And broken fryer !! Three staff came to question what our food orders were originally! Coffee was not good . Venue is lovely...

We had such a nice breakfast here - really unusual selection, which we loved! I am only giving this a 4 star as the highchair provided was a bit grubby - perhaps just need a new chair all together.

We had just the best time at the Dark Horse, great food and cocktails, friendly staff and loved the interior decor The Dark Horse will always hold a special place in our hearts as it was where I proposed to my girlfriend and thankfully she said yes, thanks to Sam I think it was(it was a blur), for the glasses of prosecco to help celebrate, everything perfect, thank you we will be back

I visited Dark Horse with 15 biker friends yesterday lunch time. We hadn't booked as we were exploring the area with no set plans. Despite the lack of notice the staff there made us all feel welcome, moved things around to fit us in, and we all had lunch. The food was excellent and staff all very friendly and positive.

2 of us ordered toast, tea and coffee. We were only served toast. Our order of tea and coffee never arrived. Waited ages to have our order taken, then they forgot drinks

We booked a table over the phone and when we arrived they had lost our booking. We waiting 1hr 45 mins despite there being less than ten tables in the entire restaurant. Food was okay but won’t be going back.

We had an excellent meal here. I believe there is a new chef who produces some fantastic food. Very much tapas style. All the dishes were delicious. The service is excellent too. One of my favourite places in Mumbles.

Fine along as you've got all day!! Good Friday and sunny so as you'd expect Mumbles was really busy. Not the best business decision then to have one person taking orders. Gave up on food but still waited too long to order and then over...

We went to Dark Horse last night and had a flawless experience. Really delicious tapas, amazing cocktails and excellent service from Rosie. We'll be back.
