Fat Cow Mumbles in Swansea

Warning! Security a major issue at this hotel. A year ago, a group of us (6 women) stayed here for a university reunion. Around 2am, a drunken, naked male guest burst into the room of one of our group and exposed himself while she was lying, terrified in bed. After screaming at him, he left only to re-enter a second time a few minutes later. She had locked the door after the first intrusion so it was with horror that she realised he was using a hotel key card. She screamed and thankfully, he left again. The police were called and investigations began. We learned that the intruder had entered other rooms. CCTV showed drunken male guests running through the corridors around the time the incident occurred. We later learned that the hotel is largely unmanned. Access to keys behind Reception appeared to be easy. The locks on a lot of doors were flimsy with no extra chain lock available. We assumed that the intruder would quickly be found. However, the police told us (reportedly) that the hotel did not co-operate fully and the case was closed after 6 weeks! We have put pressure on the police, at various levels, for 12 months to re-open the case but unsuccessfully. We all felt that telling the truth by leaving a review, would severely damage the business/reputation of this small hotel. With no resolution to the enquiry, we now have no choice but to protect other female guests and stop them from making the same choice.

Probably the worst hotel I've stayed in even though this was on Martin Lewis show. No proper lighting on the staircase. Our room situated directly above a pub playing live music on both nights we stayed. I think we should have been told and given an option to move (they weren't fully booked) Flat lemonade in the bar! The owner couldn't work out the music in his bar. Place wasn't hoovered and no hot water on a Sunday morning! Really bad email communication; taking a week to reply!!! Couldn't wait to leave!

Very friendly place to pop in for a beer. Staff very friendly and helpful, well worth a visit. Oh and it's dog friendly 🙄

Didn’t like that Wi-Fi password wasn’t provided and also was locked out in the morning. No one staffed the hotel all of Sunday morning. Good for what you pay I guess

Great rooms, cosy and with sea views, triple glazing keeps out noise of the road. Would be even better, if it included breakfast

Comfortable and quite place. At the moment there is no parking other than the side of the road due to the Council I was told but otherwise it was a lovely experience

On holiday in Mumbles for the week and was the best meal we had all week. Awesome burgers and great service.

Totally amazing burgers, the chips are perfect best onion rings in the business and don’t forget the cheese sauce. Highly recommended. Also really good house wine at a reasonable price.

What a great meal and ambience. Does what it says on the tin - excellent burgers and an exciting/spicy choice of fries. Whilst I like a burger it's not normally at the top of my fave list - until tonight! Fab services topped it off. Will Def go again.

Happened across this place, walking home from the beach, and although living in Mumbles, didn’t know it had replaced Chai. Had a look at previous reviews before writing this and had a good laugh at the 1 star written on the 19th. My experience couldn’t have been more different. The friendly and welcoming waitress couldn’t have been any more welcoming, ensuring our table was clean before we sat. The only thing that I could smell was the aroma of well cooked burgers. Drinks were delivered quickly and our food order, after consulting a friendly neighbouring table who had just choked on the last chilli in his Fiery Cow, was spot on, especially when combined with the Spicy chips. Not jalfrezi hot, but enough chillis to lift the burger to exceptional level. For those of you who remember Jubbly and CJ’s at their prime, you are going to love this place, maybe missing Dick Knowles, but the food is well worth a visit, or many. Bottom line - nice vibe, good food and welcoming staff, if the Burger smell gets to you, open the door, or perhaps try McDonalds instead.

I honestly can't see how anybody can give this place a 5* The cleanliness of the place was shocking! The smell of fat was unbearable, and the the floor was like an ice rink due to no ventilation. Food was terrible, patty was bland and grisly, only thing you could taste on everything was dirty fat! Pleased don't be fooled by the 5* reviews like myself, because you will be extremely disappointed! I have only given a one star as I couldn't give no stars.

Awesome take away again. Never disappoints!! Literally the best burger I’ve ever had… fat sow with cheese sauce side. (We tend to have take aways because of the Smokeyness in the restaurant… needs better extraction in the kitchen so your clothes don’t smell after being there)

They have burgers, burgers and more burgers - so its great if you want a burger. The burgers are grilled in an open restaurant, so it does get a touch smoky, but this adds to the atmosphere.

Honestly couldn’t fault the food or the service but wouldn’t consider returning until the ventilation was sorted. It was really awful and I understand (speaking to other locals) that this has been a problem for some time. Would definitely order a take away for collection, possibly this is the owners intention as they were extremely busy with takeaways, but that level of cooking fumes didn’t make for a comfortable dine in experience. It’s a shame because the food was great 👍

Nice fun and relaxed atmosphere - good value and good proper burger. The closet you get to the States this side of the lighthouse!

Absolutely stunning burger - the chilli was outstanding. Beautiful soft bun, hot fresh chips and the cheese dipping sauce was out of this world!!! 10/10 will be back soon thanks everyone

Had an amazing burger in fat cow, big portions, lots of choice to suit everyone’s taste and style. Skin on fries and sides were cooked perfectly. Their cheese sauce is unbelievable. Very helpful and friendly staff as my partner has a milk allergy. Defiantly worth a visit, best burgers in mumbles.

We had a lush meal, had the burgers with the pulled pork, and one with chilli, it was so good and the blue cheese with it was delicious, found it hard to decide which burger to choose! nice cold pint, enjoyed and will be re visiting soon!

Vegan option was carrot, Gurkin and onion no hummus. Buns are supermarket standard and burger full of fat. Chips were poor and I actually ordered skin on fries. First and last time

Best burgers and so accommodating with our bizarre requests of vegan patty with bacon. The menu is diverse and tasty, home cooked and with spectacular flavours. Great portion sizes. Staff are super friendly and welcoming.

I've visited this restaurant a few times now and had a great evening every time. Great food, fab atmosphere and really quick service.
