I enjoyed every morsel I ate here. Itâs a limited menu - 3 starters and 3 mains - but that doesnât matter because everything is so delicious and well balanced. Thereâs also quite a wide selection of ânibblesâ which include items like oysters and rabbit on toast.
We started with an amazing raw mackerel dish plus the oysters and rabbit on toast. The combination of flavours was just superb.
For mains we had a beautifully cooked venison and very lightly cooked cod with mussels in a seafood broth.
Finished off with a simple cheeseboard of 3 cheeses which were so good there was no need for more.
With 2-3 glasses of wine it cost ÂŁ147.00. Worth every penny.
This is quite a difficult review to write because weâve had many excellent takeaways from Saffron. Ultimately a recent, fourth, utterly terrible meal has proved to be the motivator for me to write this review.
The onion bhajis were so dry, I would go so far as to say that theyâd been made the day before and then âwarmed up a bitâ. They were pretty much inedible. Just hard lumps that, after much effort - and a sore jaw from the effort - eventually became horribly chewy.
The mains of vegetable Dhansak and mushroom Bhaji were so terribly bland. Almost no flavour, other than a hint of pepper in the background and a weird, oily aftertaste which left us all feeling a little nauseous.
As I say above, this is the fourth time weâve had absolutely terrible food from Saffron, and such rancid concoctions probably account for 30% of the food weâve had from them. As Iâm sure youâll appreciate, even when the food has been good, the âRussian Rouletteâ of opening your food containers and not knowing whether itâs going to be (a) a winner or (b) a bin-er (itâs never somewhere in between) is really not worth the hassle.
So, we wonât be using Saffron anymore. Time to take our chances with the various other Indian takeaways in the area and leave their unpredictable (and expensive) food to others.
We booked lunch for my husband's birthday. From beginning to end our visit was really lovely. The interior has been stunningly redesigned since we were last here and is gorgeous. Particularly the bar, and the breathtaking 'ladies'! The cocktails and lunch were absolutely superb; there surely must be a Michelin star on the way. The atmosphere was so relaxing and unhurried, our long lunch felt more like a holiday. All the staff were lovely, but I must mention Kosta (I hope I've spelled that correctly) who was outstanding in his professional attentiveness, friendliness and enthusiasm - a real ambassador for the hotel.
There was a lovely atmosphere in the bar. The waiting staff where bubbly and helpful. The menu was big change from the last time we visited, unfortunately the food didn't wow us, it was pleasant, everything thing was hot and served promptly but it did taste amazing, sorry we won't be rushing back.
Absolutely beautiful breakfast, I had French toast, warm berries, cream and maple syrup. Friends all had different breakfasts Eggs Benedict, full cooked and beans on toast and we were very happy with our food! Very friendly staff relaxed atmosphere and very clean would definitely recommend it you wonât be disappointed.

Went for Sunday lunch, OMG food was cold, roast potatoes were so hard we couldnât cut them, my Beef had lots of fat going through it, and I cut in to my Turkey and there was a red vine growing through it , the only vegetable was ok was the Swede , we should have gone up to complain, would not recommend to anyone đ
