Stayed here not long ago with my girlfriend, lovely location with lovely views, however it's hard to walk to the beach from the hut so we ended up driving to the town a lot of the time.
The service was excellent, we had trouble with the shower/ sink drainage, the owners came right over and fixed it as soon as we let them know.
Only downside was the fact that the floors were quite dirty during our stay.
If ever you visit Harlech Castle and need cash for the carpark, this is a must. "Cash machine" facility available inside that gives coins. The staff are excellent and friendly. The pumpkin soup is to die for. Cafe incorporates a gift shop, wool shop, comfy seating, terrific back ground music to eat your lunch/ tea to. Can't wait to go back.
We were practically dragged in off the street, not by the staff but by a customer (whom we knew) , otherwise we probably would have gone elsewhere. Our enforced choice was perfect. lovely snack/lunch - excellent Welsh language service and a local ambience - good value for money. The home made "pwdin reis" (Rice Pudding) looked great but maybe next time. Excellent little cafe. Good choice made on our behalf..!
During a recent work trip to Caernarfon I visited this hidden gem of a pub! In a quiet secluded part of town, this venue is excellent for a cold pint.
I thoroughly enjoyed the crisp taste of Carling. The best pint of Carling around! The landlord ‘Dyl’ had excellent hospitality and very informative about the local area. There aren’t many pubs around with such character and friendliness. It was also great to see such a busy venue with such care for its customers!
A must visit to any individual to anyone visiting Caernarfon!
Sensational. Had the railway curry, menu has it with lamb but waiter offered (as I don't like lamb) to have it with chicken. It was off the scale delicious. I have had hundreds of curries over the years but this is amongst the best ever. Rest of the meal was superb too. Chicken tikka starter was excellent too. Get yourself there!
Great communication, car park on site with electric charger. Room was very big, comfy bed with arm chairs, large bathroom, great breakfast in morning. Would highly recommend! Great stay and would definitely return
I have just experienced the worst service I have ever had.
We arrived at 7.20pm and placed our order at about 7.30pm.
I ordered salmon, new potatoes, asparagus and a creamy white wine sauce.
My partner chose roast chicken.
The lovely young waiter explained that the chef had run out of new potatoes. We were offered 3 other type of potatoes and chose sweet potato fries.
So far so good.
We then waited and we waited….
The young man serving us was very apologetic for the delay and did everything he could to let us know that they were having problems in the kitchen - the usual chef had gone off sick, so the owner had stepped in to cook! He also said that the restaurant had only just re-opened etc.
No problem.
We waited…and waited….and waited…
We then went inside because we were getting a bit cold.
We overheard conversations in the kitchen which made us feel uncomfortable.
After numerous apologies, our food arrived at 9.15pm!!
The food took 1 and 3/4 hours to arrive!
I could have cooked these 2 meals 3 times over in this time.
There were only about 6 people outside during the whole time we were there and we were told there was a family of 4 inside.
When it arrived, the salmon and fries tasted good BUT….there was no sign of any asparagus or creamy white wine sauce, just some very over-cooked broccoli and disgusting, watery, tinned carrots.
We were told by the waiter that we only needed to pay 1/2 price for our meal and drinks which was a relief…
We paid this and then I asked to speak to the chef (apparently also the owner…)
Initially he wasn’t willing to come but I asked again and he came.
I calmly told him that I had not experienced such slow service ever…
I then made him aware that I hadn’t received any asparagus in white wine sauce as written on the menu…
(I didn’t complain about the quality of the vegetables I was given.)
What really upset me was when the owner/chef started to try to blame the young waiter for this!
The owner/chef tried to tell me that it was the hotel’s “policy” that the waiter should have explained to / given me a choice about what I wanted…
I felt really annoyed at this point because I felt this man was taking absolutely NO responsibility for:
a) the exceptional long delays
b) the missing ingredients
c) providing me with only 1/2 of the meal that I had actually ordered.
This owner/chef kept trying to pin the blame on his young and very patient staff member.
I really cannot recommend eating here.
What we experienced here was more than teething problems of a newly opened restaurant.
There was a complete lack of respect by the owner/chef towards his own staff and towards me as customer.
I have never experience anything like this before.
Amazing icecream especially the cheesecake flavoured. Really enjoyed mine but didn't get to finish it as a sea gull swooped down and stole it from my hand....Will definatley go back for more.
