Riverside Hotel in Gwynedd

Booked in for a meal whilst we’re on a mountain biking trip in the area. Food was absolutely spot on and great value for money. Unfortunately the service was lacking. Many people around us had empty plates for upwards of half an hour and some people had to go to the bar for their own drinks. We managed to order a second set of drinks but after waiting 45 mins decided to pay and leave. We’d also asked for the desert menu that didn’t turn up. Would be understandable if it was majorly busy but it wasn’t! Some staff were just busying themselves with other tasks rather than attending to customers. Very unusual but as mentioned the food was spot on!

Great pub serving lovely food. Mixture of locals and tourists made a lovely atmosphere and dog friendly which is a bonus for us. Food was tasty and a special mention to the chips which were a great accompaniment to the burger I choose, which is itself was juicy and tasty.

We could not have been made more welcome which was needed given we had messed up on a hotel and thus, dinner booking amd were hungry and tired. Lovely home cooked food. The food was beautiful, home cooked and good portion sizes, staff were lovely and very helpful. It’s a busy place so would recommend booking before to avoid disappointment. This just shows how lovely it is. Will definitely go back and highly recommend,

Amazing meal for a special birthday with a large party. We had a huge private room, amazing Sunday roast. The staff were very helpful and considerate, really did anything they could for us. Kids, dogs, all welcome and catered for. We're definitely going to visit again on our next trip and a great choice if staying at nearby plas talgarth. Only regret is not visiting sooner!

Large party for Easter Sunday meal for a big birthday. We all had a wonderful time. Nothing too much trouble, staff really helpful and considerate. Dogs and kids welcomed and enjoyed playing outside by the river. Food really delicious, excellent service. Can't wait to return. Next time we stay at plas talgarth we'll be straight back!

This has to be the best pub for miles. The most fabulous vegetarian meals and just exceptional customer service. Adam is doing a cracking job and always makes everyone welcome.

A friendly local pub and a cooperative bought in to by the locals - whats not to love. Great atmosphere and amazing lamb for dinner. I only wish I was staying longer to try more of the menu.

First time we have revisited for a meal since it has reopened. The staff were really lovely and the food was excellent. If you are going to have a simple menu, it has to be beautifully cooked, and it was gorgeous. We would thoroughly recommend.

We booked The Riverside for a funeral tea after the funeral of one of our family. Always a difficult call as never quite sure about numbers. The staff were extremely understanding, flexible and efficient. They adjusted the food provided to cater for all present. The food was of an extremely high standard. We will be returning in hopefully happier circumstances. Thank you for providing a friendly and comforting environment at the end of a difficult day.

Both had wonderful Sunday lunches, and agree they were amongst the best we’ve ever eaten out. Unusually for us we had a starter, the homemade soup which was delicious. Then on to the main event - plenty of meat (one beef, one lamb) veg and gravy all cooked to perfection. Both at bursting point, we still couldn’t refuse puddings - again, homemade and delicious. Staff were very attentive and overall good value for money. Will certainly be back.

Called in for meal sausage n mash pint of Guinness poor quality sausage pint not good never asked during meal if everything OK not even when I paid, so I brought the subject up but was given a not very convincing sorry, we might not have been dressed in good quality evening attire but we were not scruffy dressed either and our money is as good as anyone else's in my view anyway unfortunately I will never return but then I probably won't be missed either, well that's my grumble over, let's see if I get a reply?.

Absolutely stunning evening, beautiful food and a great atmosphere. The menu is not extensive and be prepared to wait for your food, but believe me, its well worth it!! Will definitely be making it a regular aspect of our md-wales trips.

We recently spent a Sunday lunch and 2 nights dining in this pub/restaurant. The new Manager Ben was very welcoming and made us completely at home. Second visit to The Riverside, just like last time the experience was superb. One of the best Sunday lunches we've had out, everything cooked perfectly, full of flavour, great busy atmosphere friendly staff. Nothing at all to complain about (apart from it being 3 hour drive from home 😂). A great example of how to feed people properly and great value for money too.
