Staff are friendly, fun and welcoming. Great burgers, nice simple and comforting menu. The Clucking Hot burger was delicious! Nice level of chilli whilst having great flavours. This was just the ticket after an evening walk on the beech. Free dog biscuits too!

We were wandering through Barmouth looking for something to eat and so glad we popped into this place. What turned out to be a brand-new smash burger menu was the triumph the lady behind the bar promised it would be—and then some. The Iberico pork burger was ridiculous and the mac and cheese, garlic fries and Guinness the ideal sides to accompany it. Please go.

Tried the new burger menu with a few friends and the food was superb. We had the wings, macaroni cheese and loaded fries which were a generous portion size. The staff was friendly and very welcoming.

What a great place Great atmosphere and excellent service, relaxed, welcoming and warm. Fab food, go for the mac and cheese fries…. My favourite spot in Barmouth, try it you won’t be disappointed

An absolutely brilliant hotel. Stayed here several times in the past 5 months while working in the local area, and was always made to feel so at home. The rooms are spotlessly clean, very comfortable and have everything you’d need. The breakfast is lovely - and the staff couldn’t be more kind, accommodating and friendly. Beautiful place, I loved my time there.

An absolute amazing hotel, the rooms are fantastic well decorated absolutely spotlessly clean, the food is amazing, staff are so friendly can’t do enough for you, the prices are excellent… it’s a must to stay here and the best is the hotel has its own car park a very short walk away of about 50 yards.. I mean it’s everything you need.,

The Tilman is a favourite spot for a drink when staying in Barmouth (usually camping) so know it well. Treated ourselves to a Barmouth weekend & booked a room here & what a lovely room..... Staff were friendly & welcoming from the off, the room was immaculate, the little touches of decor really set the room off, was a really nice place to be..... & The bathroom wow !!!!! Tea, coffee etc in the room was top quality & greatly appreciated...... Cans of still or sparkling water available too, with little fridges on the landing to help yourself to should you need any extras 🤩. Warning about breakfast..... Your given a menu upon arrival to complete ready for the morning, breakfast is two courses (yep 2!!!) & my warning is choose carefully, I chose the porridge (absolutely delicious) & the brioche toast & yoghurt thought being "healthy" ..... Ooops not !!!! Was very generous slices of brioche toast with yoghurt, banana & fruit compot..... Again delicious but after the porridge there was no way I could do this dish then justice it deserved & felt so bad leaving so much 🫣 sorry chef !!!..... Hubby had the sour dough toast & full English, lovely "clean" breakfast very happy hubby, set him up for the day 🤩

My husband and I stayed at The Tilman for one night and from the moment we arrived until we left the following morning we couldn't have had a better experience. We decided to stay over in Barmouth on the spur of the moment and when walking into The Tilman we received a very warm welcome from manager Dan. He gave us a lovely big room which was warm and well-equipped, with a fantastic bathroom containing a huge shower and bath tub. The Tilman wasn't doing food that evening as it was a quiet mid-week night in January, but we each had a well-mixed cocktail before toddling down the road to a pub for dinner. Breakfast next morning was excellent - high quality ingredients prepared with care and attention and again Dan was there with his cheery, warm personality. In addition to looking after us, he took care of a myriad deliveries and staff arrivals and for each one he had a genuinely friendly greeting and the offer of a hot drink (it was a freezing cold, bright morning in Barmouth). I hope that whoever owns The Tilman knows what a gem of a manager he has in Dan. He is an exemplar of just what a hospitality manager should be but is so rarely found these days. Anyone thinking of going into the industry should pay a visit to The Tilman to see how it should be done. Dan, you're a credit to The Tilman. Long may you reign!! We will be back for sure.

We stopped here for tapas and a few drinks. Sadly the tapas wasn’t great and quite expensive. Some of our dishes were either burnt or soggy. Staff were friendly though and nice service.

What a great hotel.we arrived with our own parking space which made life a lot easier.when entering the hotel we were straight away greeted and felt very welcome and helpful. This continued through out the stay. The bedrooms were very clean and stylish with the most comfortable bed. When coming down for breakfast the staff were so friendly and always made sure we had enough tea and coffee, the food was amazing and fresh. 5 star all day long and will definitely be coming back soon.

Stopped for a drink, great service, good pint of Guinness and great friendly staff. Didn't have food but saw. Someone else's and it looked good. Prices not too bad

A fabulous short stay here in this little gem of a hotel. Wonderful friendly staff, nothing too much trouble and breakfast - Wow! We extended our stay to two nights as it was fabulous. We will definitely return.

Warm welcome, great selection drinks and good advice on walking Snowdon. We walked the Snowdon Ranger path! Definitely recommend this pub and the welcoming staff.

… I’d get a room with a view, & it didn’t disappoint. Room was up a couple of flights of stairs, but it worked the breakfast off. Beautifully presented breakfast, we had the full English on day 1, day 2 I had bacon & egg on toast :-)’’ MrDW had the pancakes, which was the highlight of his day. We absolutely loved the tea, coffee bags which was a 1st for us, hot choccy, & biscuits were best of all. As if we weren’t spoilt enough, we could help ourselves to sparkling or still water, & milk for our drinks, from the fridge on the landing. The bed was comfy, & a king, yet MrDW still managed to fall out of it in the early hours & cut his face on the corner of the bedside table. Loved the bathroom & all the toiletries in there. We didn’t get around to having a drink or food, other than breakfast. So I expect that we shall have to return to do this, & I’d also love to go through that lovely breakfast menu again.

Popped in for a drink with the hubbie. Lovely, clean and welcoming bar. Looked after by the lovely Dale who was happy to chat and engage with his customers. Nothing was too much trouble 👏

Spotlessly clean,3rd floor was hard for me being elderly

We visited for breakfast and found that although the menu only has 9 things on it (very refreshing), there is something for everyone and all really good value. We had a full English Breakfast and a Greek yoghurt bowl. The quality of the produce was exceptional, and the portions are a perfect size if you are hungry!!! The staff couldn't be more helpful and are really pleasant. A It's a really good place to start your day in lovely clean, fresh surroundings.

My husband and I have just got back from staying at the Tillman. We were very happy with our stay our bedroom was on the 3rd floor a bit of a hike upstairs but well worth it the view from our bedroom windows was a beautiful one of the beach and scenery. The room and bathroom were beautifully furnished and clean. The breakfasts were very nice and the staff could not do enough for us especially Una. The car park was very secure and had a barrier so only hotel guests could park there. There were fridges on each landing with cans and small bottles of milk which you could help yourself to also, this establishment was definitely worth the Money.

We stayed here for one night 18th August. They have free parking, which we couldn't organise via our mobile phone (we don't use one on our travels). We had to go to the Hotel reception, and they opened the car park for us, not a problem. The Hotel does lunch but not dinner. We had fish & chips at a place a short stroll away. They did serve a cooked breakfast and also had cereals etc for a continental breakfast.

The casseroles are great, but you have to be there in the morning. the casseroles are great

Cracking pub on the Main Street through Barmouth. Good selection of beers and a small but perfectly formed menu. I had the bacon and maple pancake stack and my husband had a giant toasted baguette - both super tasty. Staff were great too, very friendly and fabulous service. We’ll be back.

We didn't stay here, we just had drinks. It's the sister hotel to The Fanny Talbot and for some reason the drinks are cheaper here.

Beautiful place to stay very clean and well appointed rooms.

Really great stay room was spotlessly clean the bed extremely comfortable. The wet room shower was to die for. Nice touches water and fresh milk in the room with replenishment available on floor two stairwell. We had a room on the front the double glazing very efficient and no noise from traffic or seagulls. Air conditioning was very effective and the room stayed cool and very comfortable. Breakfast the next morning was fantastic with friendly staff who could not have done more for you. Thanks to all the staff for a great stay.

Always go for a pint in the Tilman when I'm in Barmouth. It's a nice place to be. And the coolest toilet sinks I've ever seen.

We were there in july 2 nights lovely room clean and tidy hall ways and stairs all nice and fresh looking breakfast was one the best I have had and the service excellent specially the waitress shirley couldn't do enough for u also talking about the Midlands she came from like us will go back again no faults thank you

We had a few drinks here it's a decent pub.

Had a lovely 4 night stay. The room was so comfy and everything was of quality. Bedding, towels and teatray. A nice feature a fridge on the landing providing water and fresh milk. Breakfasts very good. What made the stay was the friendliness of the staff. The young man who carried my case upstairs and the lovely ladies who served breakfast. Customer service like we experienced is very rare these days. Treasure your staff. A thank you to Nadene who sorted a problem out. Once again professional, polite and friendly. If you have mobility issues I advise a room on the first floor.

What a lovely welcoming pub/hotel the Tilman is. Just had a wonderful few days at the Tilman in Barmouth. Our room (No.1) was clean, spacious, huge comfy bed, fabulous shower, even a chiller stocked with refreshments. The staff (bar and kitchen) made us feel so welcome. Nothing was too much trouble. Well stocked bar, unbeatable breakfast menu too. Highly recommended the Tilman, which is perfectly located and has excellent parking facility.

Arrived Friday lunchtime and checked in just before 3pm. The room was a real eye-opener. Spotlessly clean but not antiseptic. The one real surprise was the realisation that we didn't have enough gadgets to use all the sockets available. This room was ideal for a young, athletic couple on a business trip who need to charge their phones and laptops as well as other personal items. I say athletic because Room 10 is on the top floor and there is no lift. On each landing as we climbed the stairs there is seating thoughtfully provided for those of us old and not so fit. The bathroom is very stylishly appointed and the walk-in shower cubicle is large: large enough for a humpty like me to get clean. After the usual shower, use the large overhead rose to enjoy a minute or two of warm to hot "rainfall". Bliss. Carol was not impressed to find glass bottles in the tray on the wall of the shower. Her eyesight is not good and she feared one might drop and break potentially cutting her feet to ribbons. The manager assured her the bottles were double skinned and were safe. Carol was not convinced. The breakfast is very good and is taken in the bar area. There is a brunch available later. The Tilman does not do evening meals, which is just as well given the number of bodies crammed in there. In the evening the place is so popular it is well packed and the very chatty crowd had to take it in turns to breathe, though not to speak. A cacophony of young and not so young voices fills the place. The fact that the car park is to the rear of a nearby place does not detract from the fact that this place is excellent.

Looking for a place to sit out of the sun while I waited for a recovery truck to come and retrieve my car (very stressful day), I came across this place. Though I didn’t stay the night in one of the rooms, I did sit downstairs in the bar area for a couple of hours. The staff behind the bar were exceptional, very friendly, very helpful and cheerful. The bar itself was clean, nicely decorated, and there was free wifi which was a life saver for me yesterday! Thank you to the member of staff (I didn’t catch his name) who made me and my mum feel welcome and a little less stressed, you were and angel yesterday I would definitely recommend this place, and if I am ever in Barmouth again, I’ll sure be checking in for a stay

Stayed here from Friday to Sunday during the Easter bank holiday. Staff were really attentive, location was great, breakfast was excellent and room was very clean and equipped. The staff even posted over a coat that we'd left in the car park! Can't rate this place highly enough! Only comment to make was that our room (#7) had a slight smell of cigarette smoke. Everything else was so great that we didn't feel the need to complain but thought it worth mentioning.

We have stayes at this place many times as the rooms are just lovely, Hotels in the centre of town and has loads of parking 100m just up the street. The staff are very friendly and the breakfast is right up there. we always look forward to a stay at this place and if i was booking Barmouth for someone else i would book them in here for sure. Lovely of an evening for a few drinks as well as nice and busy. Well done guys doing a fantastic job.

Great , friendly staff put up with our very large greyhound taking up a chunk of floor. Wife and daughter absolutely loved the range of cocktails over the week.

Lovely pub with a great selection of drinks. Great lighting and comfortable seating. Came here every night of our holiday because it was so nice and would definitely recommend. Dog friendly with dog treats too.

Went for a drive after feeling a bit of cabin fever after Christmas, stopped in Barmouth for some lunch. First time in here and it won’t be the last!! Great service, reasonable prices and lovely tasting food and a good selection of drinks

The Tilman is possibly our favourite place to go for drinks in Barmouth. Friendly staff, good drinks selection, dog friendly, and the brunches on a weekend are delicious.

Just had a Halloween Mexican themed brunch and it was fantastic. King prawn fajitas and a chorizo, bacon, egg & potatoes burrito were both absolutely mouthwatering. We were so impressed, we asked if they would be doing it again and were told to call beforehand next time and they would try to sort for us. Well happy and we will be coming back.👌

Don’t be discouraged that this accommodation is above a cocktail bar/ pub- there is no noise! Separate entrance meant not having to go through bar. Slept really well in a comfortable, well designed room. Everything was clean and well presented - lovely walk in shower plus bath. Air Con in the sept heatwave was a bonus ! Breakfast was very good and lots of options. Free car park, just around corner was a bonus. The Tillman is well placed both for the town and the beach.

Just returned from a four night stay, really couldn’t fault in any way. Room was well air conditioned and very clean. Modern rooms with quality furnishings. We choose the including breakfast option which was top quality and a variety of choice to suit all tastes. We will definitely stay again. Also this has its own carpark which is clean safe and very close which is free to residents. This is always a plus in Barmouth

Lovely place, nice staff. Superb quality breakfast , thick bacon, vine tomatoes. Best full English I have ever eaten. Only thing i would change is maybe offer normal tea as well as breakfast tea, and maybe an alternative coffee ,tried both and neither were for me .Will be back

Lovely hotel situated in the centre of town with adjacent reserved carparking. Rooms nice and comfortable and clean. Excellent breakfasts and a lively bar. Friendly and helpful staff. Will definitely stay again.

We've stayed here 3 times and have always been happy. Our last visit there we added another night onto the one we had already booked only with 2 days notice. They said that we would have to swap rooms which with such short notice we didn't mind. However, when we checked in They said that they had a re-jig of rooms and we had the same room for 2 nights👍. The only thing we noticed was it looked like the breakfast menu had been slimmed down. Plus the service was slow. Breakfast was hardly warm .

Stayed for 3 nights. Great base for exploring the national park. Room was very large and simply but nicely decorated and furnished. Everything looked brand new. Staff friendly. Breakfast choice good and very tasty. We’d travelled from a 5* hotel in the Gower but the Tilman was nicer I would say. Highly recommended.

We're on holiday nearby and popped in most evenings along with our big greyhound. Lovely beer, daughter had different cocktails every night. If you own this place you have employed some great staff. Very welcoming.

We arrived in Barmouth and found everything closed 🤣 went in to ask for a table and he said in 30 min. So we returned 30 min later to find window table ready . Nice looking place , clean and the staff where very polite . We didn’t know what to order and staff suggested their favorites and all plates where as tasty as expected and the bill was very reasonable. Glad we stopped there 😊

Fantastic brunch menu - something a little bit different. Steak and eggs were absolutely delicious. Other members of our party had the hash, the chicken and waffle, and the moc muffin - everyone thoroughly enjoyed it and the service was excellent.
