Caernarfon Tandoori in Gwynedd

Sensational. Had the railway curry, menu has it with lamb but waiter offered (as I don't like lamb) to have it with chicken. It was off the scale delicious. I have had hundreds of curries over the years but this is amongst the best ever. Rest of the meal was superb too. Chicken tikka starter was excellent too. Get yourself there!

This is the second time that I ordered that I will complain. The ddirst one, the Biryani and the Tikka Massala was very bland . No taste at all. Now, I ordered lamb curry. I really put "medium" hot/spicy in my order, but it was not even spicy, instead it is saltier! I don't know what had happened. I hope the owner can read this. The quality is going downhill. The food has no taste at all!! Please, why is my curry saltier than usual? I ordered medium hot/spicy.

After seeing the reviews of this place was really dissapointed with the food that was served. We booked a birthday party for 7 people and although the service and atmosphere was okay the food was totally bland. No flavour in anything even the chicken tikka on its own had no flavour. Sadly this made it a very unenjoyable evening. I hope the chefs look at this review because the food has potential just not one dish had any flavour sadly. 20th April 6.30pm booking for 7 people. Check your records properly and please dont accuse you cutsomers of lying. Get the food sorted it BLAND and tasteless. Spend some time on that tought instead of being so defensive

This is not Indian food!! Tasteless, flavourless, Overcooked and full of food colour. No need to order dessert, as everything is so sweet including overacting from staff.

Looked on Google for a good indian restaurant and this came highly recommended, and they didn't disappoint, everything was 5 star, highly recommend this restaurant..

Went for dinner for six of us. Fantastic food, every dish was great and the price was very reasonable. I had the railway lamb, which was lovely. Everyone enjoyed their meal. The service was very friendly. Would highly recommend.

one of our favourite indian restaurants. luckily for us it is close to where we live! all the staff are extremely friendly and welcoming and, of course, every dish is extremely delicious. on more than one occasion, they have accommodated our requests, I prefer extra spicy and hot food while my wife more mild food. very attentive to our daughter's dietary needs, too! if you are in Caernarfon, I highly recommend it!

Excellent Indian in the heart of Caernafon. We walked in and had no trouble getting a table. Service was great from Fahim and his colleagues. We had chicken Kalia and chicken Korai with rice, naan, Aloo Gobi and Tarka Daal. All fantastic flavours ... Kalia was my fave. Will definitely come again when next visiting the area.

We were vacationing in North Wales staying in Caernafon. Caernarfon Tandoori was by far our best meal. The menu had lots of options we had the Garlic chilli shrimp starter, the railway cabin lamb, chicken tikka jalfrezi, peshwari nan, and basamati rice. They were all delicious, portions were generous with plenty of meat. We knew that we had to bring our own alcoholic beverages so stopped at the nearby grocery before going to dinner. The service was also very good.

Lovely staff but was disappointed with the spice level of the moderate curries. More mild than moderate IMO.

Excellent quality and delicious food! Staff are very welcoming, friendly and always happy to accommodate special requests. Delivery consistently on time, piping hot food and a very kind driver who always brings it up to us! Indian food served with care and passion - highly recommend!

Wonderful place. Food was amazing. Great value for money. Service was top notch. Could not fault anything. Sweet chilli dip in the pickle tray was beautiful - and warm! Chicken balti came beautifully presented and a very generous portion.

Wonderful restaurant. The staff are the loveliest people you'll ever come across, always so welcoming, friendly, warm and accommodating. Nothing is ever too much trouble. Top class service and the food is to die for. Always a pleasure to visit. Best Indian ever!

Cannot fault the service or the food. Great choice of the typical "British" curry menu and also classic regional Indian dishes. The chili pickle on the dip tray is very good too.

Blydi lyfli, lovely curry and very good service, my boyfriend had the new curry on the menu the railway cabin lamb and it was so nice, nice medium sauce with very hot chillies in it, best curry in cfon by miles, i had the lamb bunah which was lysh best curry ive had , massive portions too which they let me take the leftovers home x

Service was excellent and staff very attentive. Lovely crisp poppadoms and pickle tray. Tried the Railway Lamb from the Chefs Specials and it was very flavoursome, would highly recommend this dish. Everyone in our party enjoyed their meals, couldn't fault a thing

1st time I have had food from here, ordered a takeaway and it was well worth the wait. So tasty and well spiced, and I will definitely order from here again. Staff are also very polite

Awesome vegetable biryani, packed with delicious vegetables. One of the best I’ve eaten! Complemented with wonderful peshwari nan bread - the perfect combination of flavours and textures. Literally the best Indian food I have ever had.

We visited on a Monday night and had a wonderful meal. We both had mixed tandoori starters and the meat was really tasty. I had a Chicken Jaflong main and my wife had a Chicken Korma which were both fabulous. The waiters were superb. Thanks for a great meal!

We stumbled across this gem by accident. We were looking for food and were attracted by the smell and wow it was worth it. We didn't book a table but we waited less than 5 minutes before we're had a seat. Service was fast and efficient and I have to say one of the best madrasses I've ever had !

We've been here twice now and both times we've had really good food. It all tastes fresh and well flavoured, and is presented very well. The menu is huge and varied, and as vegans we love the fact they label which dishes are suitable for vegans. They fitted us in last minute on a busy Saturday night, fair play. Service is quick and very friendly. Thank you!

Absolutely brilliant food as I'm gluten intolerance. I had no trouble. We went twice in 4 days. Would definitely return and definitely recommend.

Nice atmosphere inside belies the slightly grim exterior. Friendly staff and some unusual items on the menu. For me the lamb jaflong was a standout but all dishes were well cooked with clean flavours. Good portion sizes. Well worth a visit. We didn't need to book on a Thursday evening but it might be a good idea on a Friday or Saturday.

Bland, watery, tasteless of what I ordered, not happy at all. Waited nearly 2 hours and £60 later for nothing. I'm really disappointed

Love this place, the staff are always welcoming, very attentive and the food is excellent. Try the Naga, it's delicious, always a favourite. If I want guaranteed great food, this is my go to place, never fails to impress

The whole family had a great evening meal. Service was exceptional staff even going the extra mile to entertain the two children and make them feel as welcome as us. Food was served quickly and piping hot, it was lovely as good as I have had anywhere else. Such a shame we don't live nearby or we'd be back often.

Rice was under cooked, north Indian garlic prawns were bland, peshwari nan was full of sugar (no coconut) lime pickle was awful plus got an irish fiver in my change (check you're change) won't be returning

The ' KORMA FAMILY' had two brilliant meals at this restaurant in the last week. Food was lovely, and the staff were so so helpful .my wife who doesn't eat onions got some in her meal, but it was sorted out by the staff very quickly and efficiently without any fuss...just brilliant 👏 👍

We were just in town for the weekend and were glad we booked, as it was doing a good trade - always a positive sign. Service was swift, efficient and friendly and the food was really tasty and fresh. If I lived in Caernarfon I would certainly return!

A delightful restaurant in the heart of Caernarfon Wales, great menu selection with fabulous service, we had a very funny waiter who my friend's knew well . Three of us mates went from London for the bank holiday weekend to Snowdonia. We went to the restaurant and were greeted to and given a table of 3. The place was clean with a nice dining in atmosphere. We ordered 3 different types of biryanis. They explained the choices when we asked questions as well as recommendations. The staff knew what they're doing and very respectful. Food was excellent and very tasty, they even gave a couple of nans as a gesture of good will as we also ordered a few curries on side. Would recommend to anyone when staying in Caernarfon, or visiting to Snowdonia.

Started off a winner because they had paneer on the menu and as a vegetarian, this is the main option I’m looking for. Had the paneer madras here and it was absolutely delicious. I have eaten a lot of paneer madras and this is definitely amongst the top that I’ve ever had. Service was also friendly and excellent. If I find myself back in this part of the country again, I’ll definitely be back.

My family and I enjoyed our first meal at The Caernarfon Tandoori Restaurant after reading an article in the Daily Post that said that this restaurant had been named Indian Restaurant of the Year for Wales. The food was delicious with really amazing flavours, fresh ingredients and spices and a taste sensation that is absolutely perfect. The food is full of epic flavours, absolute perfection. The staff are welcoming, efficient, friendly and professional. My family and I all really appreciate the fantastic service that The Caernarfon Tandoori Restaurant provide, it was a pleasure to dine at such a fantastic restaurant that has a wonderful menu with an excellent selection of food to choose from. We really liked the cool, stylish interior in the restaurant that was beautifully designed and very comfortable. Never been before. We went early evening and the place already had a few customers. The food was hot and tasty. Staff were friendly and it gad a good atmosphere. We shall go again.

Outstanding environment and food

Was out and about in the area and fancied a nice curry, we searched up and found this place and decided to give it a go, and we were so glad we did. There was 4 of us and we all enjoyed our meal very much. Some places I have been before can be very oily ,but I must say this indian was spot on, not overly oily and full of flavour and freshness. The meat in my curry was perfectly tender and everything was spot on. Very very good quality food, good service and clean and friendly atmosphere. I would highly recommend taking a visit, there is paid parking nearby and a note to remember is that you can take your own alcohol as they do not serve this. Only con I would say is that they charge on the menu for tap water £1, I think this is unreasonable and should be provided free of charge to paying customers.

The best Korma, pilau rice, keema naan and saag aloo I've ever had. And the best bit-the wonderful staff all speak Welsh! Ardderchog! The only criticism I have is that they don't do dessert..other than that, perffaith 👌

Another lovely takeaway tonight. The lamb pathia was delicious, very tender too.Staff very friendly helpful. Will have to eat in the restaurant sometime. It was full when I arrived to pick up my food so that's a good sign

Oh my goodness. The food is amazing! I had wanted the vindaloo but was persuaded by staff to try the naga chicken instead and wow it was amazing. Absolutely delicious. Their peshwari naan is out of this world and definitely the best I have ever had. Definitely recommend the mango lassi too! Staff are also so lovely and so friendly!

Had a Vindaloo that was plain, flavourless, and somehow wasn't spicy at all.

The takeaway was about 15-20 minutes late coming out, and the Mrs had a bit of rubber in hers, and my peshwari nan was far too sweet, and I like it sweet so it was quite a shock. Staff were friendly though and the rest of the meal was good, the ordering on the website was good, you can pay by card with a card fee, and there's a good range of dishes too. Worked out about £17 each with nan each and sharing bhaji and rice. They have won awards recently but our experience was very mixed unfortunately.

Cracking restaurant in the centre of Caernarfon. Its BYO, so get your drinks from the local convenience store before arriving. You know its good as soon as you open the door, as its full of delicious smells. The food and service are both first class, and its really good value for money. We were a party of 8 and all delighted with our experience. All in all, highly recommended

Unlicenced restaurant so only given 4 stars. Atmosphere only 3 as it was a very quiet mid-week out of season evening. Food delicious, lots of choice, both traditional menu items and specials. Great service, very friendly and welcoming. Chilli chutney was amazing!

A fabulous restaurant, great food, I recommend the Kalia if you like a hot tasty curry. Service is fantastic, very friendly and kept us laughing.

Excellent Indian restaurant which serves delicious food. Our waiter was very engaging and we enjoyed his sense of humor. Before you go, bear in mind that the restaurant serves no alcohol so you need to bring your own. Not a problem but good to know beforehand. However, there's a shop just down the road which serves alcohol.
