The Alex has the best pint in Caernarfon hands down, whether it’s Guinness, Carling or a nice ale. I don’t go there often, but I couldn’t recommend the pub more. A friendly landlord and the perfect place for a quiet pint.

During a recent work trip to Caernarfon I visited this hidden gem of a pub! In a quiet secluded part of town, this venue is excellent for a cold pint. I thoroughly enjoyed the crisp taste of Carling. The best pint of Carling around! The landlord ‘Dyl’ had excellent hospitality and very informative about the local area. There aren’t many pubs around with such character and friendliness. It was also great to see such a busy venue with such care for its customers! A must visit to any individual to anyone visiting Caernarfon!

The pub itself is old fashioned and authentic, But It's a shame about the landlord 'Dyl'. Who's extremely rude, he made me anxious about ordering a pint due to his attitude and presence. It seems that he hates business and customers, all he's interested in doing is anything but run the pub. I thought id give the pub another go despite the rude landlord. I arrived on a sunny Monday evening, approximately 18:00. He refused to serve me and a group of friends visiting the area as he was closing. For the sake of this brilliant traditional pub, 'Dyl' needs to leave or employ someone who's willing to serve customers with a smile.

He visitado en varias ocasiones. Este es un viejo pub de moda. Siempre hay un buen ambiente. La decoración es antigua, pero eso es parte del encanto - no sería el mismo si hubiera un cambio de imagen. Dylan es un gran propietario y un montón de diversión con él

Known as ' The Alex' by locals, this is a pleasant old fashioned Public House. Ken (The Landlord) is charming, and Dilys is lovely, Dilys is responsible for the beautiful Flower Arrangements which always make me smile when we come home from wherever we have been. It is a bit out of the way in a Town where no one seems to like to walk far but if you like a nice quiet Drink, it might be right up your Street.

Whenever you go to the Alex you will always get a warm welcome from Ken & Dilys. It is a traditional old fashioned pub, clean and prices are reasonable compared to the pubs in the town. It is always full of locals who have been going there for years.

Have been going to this pub since I was a child with my dad for my packet of crisps and can of coke. Over the years it has been a regular place for me to visit before an evening out into town. My dad goes here every evening for his "couple of drinks" fab little pub

As a new visitor to the area,I decided to frequent 'The Alex' and received a most friendly welcome... The proprietor, Ken was most obliging and nothing was too much trouble. His partner, Dilys was equally accommodating. A friendly place, great atmosphere and a good choice of draught beers. We'll worth another visit !

We stopped here for breakfast twice, having been disappointed by the service at another establishment. The breakfast rolls are tasty, especially the sausages, and both the tea and coffee were good. Fair prices and very friendly service. Outdoor seating where you can eat your food whilst enjoying the beautiful views of Llanberis and its surroundings. Also does delicious cakes, milkshakes and hot chocolate. Highly recommended.

I'm actually gutted to be writing this review as we thought we had found a good haunt when we first tried last week. 2 adults & 2 children all had a lovely lunch time meal the previous week so we rebooked for the 2 adults for an evening meal the following weekend. The starter was lovely for both of us but we both ordered fillet steak for our main and I don't know what meat it was but it certainly wasn't a beef steak. It didn't look like one, taste like one or even cut like one. I was genuinely gutted as it has put me off going back again because I feel like it's just rude to expect somebody not to notice and left feeling like we've been totally ripped off. You don't order a fillet steak if you don't know exactly what to expect on your plate so the audacity to think you can pull that off is unbelievable. I can't complain about the service, both times it has been spot on, lovely women but unfortunately we won't be returning after been served that.

On a recent visit to Barmouth we found this little Gem of a place that is open on Sundays. There was a special board out side and it was the Cheese and Onion pie that drew us in . Both my husband and me had this and it came with new potatoes and salad . It was delicious and very reasonably priced . We were naughty and were too tempted by the delicious homemade sweets and puds they had to offer . I had the jam and coconut cake and my husband opted for the apple pie. They were presented lovely with fruit and a pot of cream on the side. The staff were friendly and attentive. Will definitely be returning next time we are in Barmouth
