The best restaurants in Mid Wales

Huge menu and a great welcome, everything was explained to us when we went to the counter, couldn't get over the menu, it was huge, and very varied, and we definitely wasn't disappointed with the food, great taste and portions, we'll definitely go back when next in the area.

Lovely place to visit with great friendly staff and a welcoming atmosphere. Cappuccinos are the best and sausage buttys OFF THE SCALE. Made a lovely fuss of our dog 🐾 and brought a water bowl for her too. Lovely touch and if were back in the area in future will certainly drop in again. Thank you 😊

Sites cardigan and was so looking forward to the pizza experience, only to find out it was now in a pub. We decided to give it a go. We waited such a long time for our pizza, around half an hour. The pizza was just not the same and very little choice. Will visit again once it has moved back .. the pub was amazing with fantastic atmosphere

We stayed at the cliff hotel last weekend on a whim as it popped up on a spa hotel search. I have stayed in lot of high class hotels around the world, through the job I do. I honestly can not rate this hotel highly enough. For the price we paid, i genuinley believe it was a steal. The staff were fantastic, the breakfast superb and the facilities extremely modern and well presented. It is genuinely an extremely well run hotel were every single member of staff we encountered, performed their job to a T. For the price you pay it is punching well above its weight. I cant recommend highly enough if you want a spa weekend away, that won't break the bank.

The tastiest Sunday dinner I’ve had in a long time. Very well presented. Desserts were amazing, hence more than one just to try them. I recommend the mini pavlova with homemade lemon curd and fruit. Excellent service and a nice comfortable experience. Will definitely return with my extended family.

Absolutely amazing. Came to my rescue after being let down by someone else on Mothers Day. Definitely would recommend them and Beverley has been a lifesaver. Thank you xx

As with many of our experiences, this was an unplanned unknown when we had to find a campervan stop for the night (in the town carpark nearby). We were very pleasantly surprised by how friendly and well presented the Black Lion is and by the great service and well presented and cooked the pub food was... (also food allergy well catered for). Also well stocked bar.

Mother’s Day lunch … I can honestly say that was the best roast beef dinner I’ve had …. Vegetables cooked to perfection and a Yorkie like a hotair balloon 🎈 desert was also delicious! The staff were excellent and attentive, not overpriced for our 2 course meal and will definitely be returning x Thankyou … what a lovely place, lovely food and lovely staff 😃

Having visited many times we noticed on our last two visits that the pizzas have become very thin and the amount of topping significantly reduced. We have checked photos from previous visits and sadly there are marked differences especially in the amount of topping which fills the middle and leaves large dry dry thin edges. Such a shame as the pizzas used to be amazing.

So I've just this moment been for lunch on my 66th birthday with 7 members of my family. I was pleasantly surprised to find if it was your birthday, and you provided ID you could have a main course and pudding for free. Being vegetarian I didn't like the main courses, so asked the waitress if I could have a starter and chips as my main course. Bearing in mind I already had a starter before the main course. I said that both were cheaper than a main course anyway, so there no issue. The waitress said it was OK. Nothing else was said and we had a lovely meal. On paying the bill I find that my main course (starter and chips) was charged at full. I queried the waitress and she said the manager had explained I couldn't do a starter and chips. BUT no one had come across and explained that. Similarly there were 4 other people at our table who had main courses, so what was the problem!!!! Don't advertise this promotion if you aren't going to adhere to it. I could have quite easily ordered my husbands main and simply swapped when presented. I also tipped £20 and feel now that my birthday meal was spoilt by such appalling disregard to my complaint, and had I knowingly knew I had to argue over who had which main course in order to fulfil the promotion, I certainly wouldn't have tipped £20. It's not the money but the principle. Don't offer something then find a way not to deliver. The manager was dismissive. Food good but service very poor.

Start with the good , great staff and extremely warm welcome during a busy time and (I think) was the owners very friendly and chatty Breakfast was very well cooked a nice choice of hot and cold Unfortunately the bed in room 1 was worst I ever slept on so uncomfortable and noisy every slight movement it would sound likes it’s breaking also alot of noise above the room, Lovely atmosphere in the bar area and a really really good selection of drinks however the restaurant I felt very cramped as tables was so close together, The starters (calamari and the goats cheese tart) we had was well cooked and a nice size however mains was a big disappointment I had the fish it was large and extremely well cooked how ever the chips were still undercooked in the middle so I doubt they was the triple cooked chip as stated on menu My partner has the burger which was served in a Huge bun with so much pickle you couldn’t find the burger which unfortunately was that undercooked it almost walked of the tiny board it was served on, we did send back and the second one was still pink and undercooked We did not eat !! Again staff was great and over all a lovely pub however left feeling slightly dissatisfied
