The best restaurants in St. Mary Powys Mid Wales

We came here today, and the staff were very rude. No pleases or thank you. Manners guy's. Tables were a mess and not cleared away. Drawing pin sticking upwards by the till too.

Zero direction as to where you should order if you want to sit in. One lady behind the counter so assumed we spoke to her... placed an order and ask to 'sit in'. Oh you can't order to sit in at the counter and the restaurant side lights off. So ordered to take out assuming sit in was closed as not given the option to be seated. As we ledr, witnessed same miserable server show someone into the seated area. Make that make sense. Expensive food and not the best we've ever had either. Won't bother returning.

Always a great vibe, super friendly/helpful staff. I often go there to watch the sport and they have lots of screens showing different games.

I had a flat white and an espresso here, both of which I found a bit underwhelming. Firstly, the espresso had absolutely no crema. It seems like they were using very old beans. It tasted extremely bitter to the point of being undrinkable. Sadly, the flat white was not far behind. Too much air was added to the milk, leaving big bubbles in it as opposed to microfoam. I don't think the barista had much training on using the machine (though, hopefully, she will improve over time!)

.Bought 2 pasties just before closing time. Had one warmed up in the Microwave and it remained nice and crispy. The meat and vegetable filling were delicious. We shared an incredible apple and raspberry turnover. Would definitely return if in the area again

We took the family here for Sunday lunch after hearing mixed reviews (mainly negative reviews on appearance rather than service or food) Personally we could have overlooked the dated decor and slightly slow service had the food been better. However unfortunately the food was very salty and vegetables were slightly overcooked. Meat was tasty and Yorkshire puddings were large and crisp on the outside, exactly as we like them. Overall an okay experience, which could be made so much better with a little bit of extra attention to detail. We would return and try it again.

We not there today as we liked lt when we went a few weeks ago beautiful food very friendly staff and really good value for money .

I’m a big Costa fan, but I always walk past this one when on the area as the outside is so unwelcoming. Dirty looking and lots of flaky paint. On this occasion we popped in for a coffee. The staff are friendly enough, but I thought the floors were very dirty , they could do with a deep clean not just a wash over. Not sure if I would call again.

Ordered the 3 meals for £14.95 chicken wings chicken strips chicken nuggets The portions were very small 5 small chicken nuggets chicken wings think there was 4/5 embarrassing, then no sauces came had to pay for 3 selected sauces £2.45 so £17.95 all in not great Waitress behind bar was rude again and signal for the app was horrendous Will be carful what I order next

Very basic. Confused about its identity. No contact tracing being carried out, first place we’ve encountered this issue so far. Didn’t have faith in the cleanliness. Things go downhill when you go downstairs. Graffiti everywhere and general feeling of grubbiness. Staff member pleasant enough but will not be returning.

Ordered chicken sheesh kebab with fries it cost £11.50. The kebab wasn’t even cooked fresh they took it out of a hot saucepan ready cooked Salad was minimal and the chips were processed and not fresh . Just horrible warmed up chips. This should’ve cost £5 not £11.50 how they charge so much money.

We were at Brecon for the day, so we decided to call in to morrisons cafe for a cuppa and a bite to eat. Unfortunately there was no hot food available due to a problem, nevertheless you could have sandwiches and cakes etc, The wonderful Adam who was behind the counter was so helpful and very kind when I asked if I could purchase some porridge from the store and eat in the cafe, which he said would be fine. Adam was very polite and supplied me with oat milk ( amazing) as a lot of the cafes, Greggs being one of them had "run out" of oat and soya milk earlier. We had our food then realised our parking ticket was due to expire, and I still had my cup of tea to drink.. I asked if I could have a paper cup as I saw some by the coke machine, Adam asked me if I was taking it out, and supped me with a disposable cup for hot drinks , what a lovely, kind person ..A Credit to morrisons .. Thank you again, Adam, for such perfect customer service 👏 🥰

We went on a Monday hoping for a pasta dish or steak and all they had on the menu were pies or burgers no other options so be aware of that. Felt like they catfished us with the photos on here lol. I had bbq ribs (£15)off the specials menu which was very limited and they were very dry hardly any sauce on them but they did give a lot of ribs tbf. The chips tasted a little burned but the corn on the cob was lovely. Also the venison burgers are just a patty and sauce. The place was okay but if you are going to eat here just be warned that the menu is probably not going to look like the ones online and the pictures of all the different dishes probably won't be available. Place has a very lived in home feel. Also you had to go up to the bar to order but they don't allow you to pay until after you've had food which we thought was a little odd. Anyway, okay overall just don't expect a lot of variety.

Fairly basic room but just what we needed, would have liked a fridge though. Breakfast was lovely, really accommodating of vegans and service was ace
