The best restaurants in St. Mary Powys Mid Wales

9 of us girlfriends who had been away on a celebration weekend in west wales called in on the way home. Had booked in a couple of weeks before. We were half an hour early but we were seated within 15 minutes. Lovely Sunday carvery, great selection of meat to choose from and an array of seasonal veg where you help yourself. Great service from a friendly team of staff and very reasonably priced. Will definitely call again when in the area.

IT WAS NOT TERRIBLE BUT . . . . . . having checked their website before leaving Cheltenham to check that the café was open that day and driven 50+ miles it was very annoying and disappointing to find it was CLOSED. The gentleman mowing the front lawn (possibly the owner or manager) replied to my disappointment saying "Oh, yes, I must get around to changing it (the website)".

We’ve visited nearby Llangorse for the last 5 years and always come for a meal at this pub. Very friendly welcoming landlord and good food reasonably priced. The real ale is excellent too! Highly recommended.

A nice range of good value food well prepared and presented by friendly staff who were proactively helpful to customers. Menu included breakfast before 11:30 as well as sandwiches, toasties, paninis, jacket potatoes, soup and specials on offer. Am hoping to go back soon.

The owners obviously love Greece and all things Greek. Their menu is quite small but there are authentic, tasty items available.

Called in to the Cafe today for the first time. What a little gem of a place. Very friendly staff and very professional. Food is excellent with a good choice of vegan and intolerance friendly on the menu. Give The Cafe a try. You won't be disappointed. I'll definitely be going back...

Looking for a place to eat in Brecon on a Sunday evening and gave it a try. They were very accommodating. Food was very good and the ambience was also nice. We would go again if we are in the area.

The Welsh Lady serving was amazing and cooked up a great Breakfast for us two Soldiers on a visit back to Wales. She was ace and must be commended!!! We got there early but she already had so many people to cook for. Breakfast was amazing and 10/10.Thanks and will recommend to England as a place to go!!!,

Lovely friendly restaurant Service was friendly and quick. Food was very reasonably priced and tasty. We really liked the place. We just had to wait a bit to pay the bill

Cheap and cheerful. Basic menu. Friendly staff.

Whilst staying in the area of Brecon the children walked past this place so we went back the next morning to try. Don’t bother, food was sub standard and the quality of a below par greasy spoon. Average waffles and awful Welsh Breakfast. By far the worst place we are during our visit. Try harder!

Cannot give a review of the food as it never came after an hour and 30 of waiting. Waited 20 mins and had to ask twice for a bottle beer. Was told 30-40 mins wait for food and as had kids, we ordered simple dishes that still hadn’t arrived and hour after ordering even though every other customer in the restaurant arrived after us and were served their mains before we even got a starter! When I told them to cancel the order I was told your food is now ready, for them to bring over an order which was for another table , at which point I had two crying children, I felt we were discriminated either for having children or being Asian ( which is funny in a Thai restaurant I know), we got up and refused to wait any longer, we walked towards to the door to leave refusing to pay for the two beers I had ordered, as the refused to take card payment and stated CASH ONLY, (which was not mentioned at all prior to being seated or order being placed, other customers were being sent to a local cash point when it came to paying a bill which seems a common occurrence looking at other reviews, which the local licensing committee and HMRC will be made aware of tomorrow) A bullish male was then sent out to obstruct us, when I asked him nicely to step outside to talk to me as he had other customers he grabbed my arm at which point I lost my “sh”t”. Apologies to other customers but this was terrible, totally unacceptable, and all I will say that this establishment ruined what was a beautiful weekend… terrible staff, terrible attitude even my 8 year old asked “daddy why haven’t they apologised for the wait” Run by south Asians not Thai people to be clear also, food may have been good but after 1:30 the only thing we tried were prawn crackers. Shame on this place…
