We've dined here a couple of times now when visiting Brecon and in an area with limited vegan eat out options, the Hop In is a standout. It's a quirky little bistro bar, with a good range of real and craft beers and extensive gin list. The spanish tapas menu is simple but offering a good range of tasty home made dishes. We loved the stuffed peppers, vegetable croquettes and patatas bravas. It's a popular place, so best book ahead if you are wanting to dine.

Popped in for sandwiches to take up the hill. Based on the discussion behind the counter they seemed a little confused about how to make their own listed sandwiches - but they did a great job - very well filled and tasty. A bit odd to pack a little cup of crisps (to get loose and get soggy) - rather than just offering a bag of crisps (between two if they only have bigger bags). Price £8 a sandwich take away seemed a little punchy - same as sit in - maybe offer a discount take away - most places do for the good reason that overheads and staff costs are lower…

Having parked next to Christ College we walked over the bridge and up Ship Street to this restaurant for a light lunch. The welcome was warm and friendly and we sat at Table 1 where our order was taken. My (GF) wife had a lovely Waldorf Chicken Salad which she really enjoyed and I had the fish soup which was a Seafood Chowder and it was excellent and served as a large portion - I’d choose this again!! All in all, a friendly venue which I can highly recommend.

Lovely place in a lovely town. Great ambience, pleasant and attractive decor and environment and a 5 star service The bar maids - Jess and Lucy are friendly, a pleasure to chat with, and not only barmaids but cocktail connoisseurs that make a great tipple! Fabulous drinks, fast service, and a pleasurable environment to be in. Not to mention - even though the place is pleasant enough with no trouble - the security there does a fab job in helping keep the place run smoothly even though he looks like an extra from Vikings. Well done to all the lounge! Definitely reccomed a visit here for a nice evening out :)

Visiting the area and hopped in for pint with the dog (bonus it’s dog friendly!). Great selection of cask and keg beers, Barman (grey hair, ponytail) was lovely. Locals were friendly and even gave tips for places to visit. Really relaxing, friendly vibe.

This place is amazing 🤩 It is a definite place to eat when you go to Brecon. From the staff, the chutney tray and the food it is lovely. It gets very busy and they do their very best to accommodate walk ins but booking is much easier for all involved. Please visit.

Sorry to say it was very underwhelming and disappointing. Although the staff were friendly enough, there was confusion with our simple order for 4 of us. Food and coffee came out one by one, if it came out at all. A piece if cake here, followed slowly by another. They even brought the wrong coffee. We sat waiting for a long time wondering where the rest of the order was. When we questioned it, they were surprised we were waiting for anything. When the food finally arrived, it was bland. The carrot cake had zero flavour! One person had raisins in theirs the other person had none. We have never had a piece of cake that had no flavour in it before. Most places serve everyone on table all at once. Was very strange. Needless to say, this is not a place we will be returning to.

Came across this cafe and decided to go in as they were okay with dogs. First impressions were the decor wasn't my thing but that's just me... You might like it! The majority of the place looked clean, however there were a few points me and my partner noticed; the covers for the chairs were very dirty and it wasn't fresh dirt either. The salt, pepper and sugar pot on the table were visibly dirty so we weren't really comfortable using them tbh. I didn't find the place great value for money, it was overpriced for what it was but the breakfast was cooked well so I have no complaints on the food quality but it didn't fit the price. The drinks however were below par, almost £4 for a flat white and it was shocking; worst coffee I've ever had as it was pretty much all milk. Would I visit again if I was in Brecon? Probably not, and I'd probably be happier with popping in the coffee1 for a snack and save abit of money.
