Had an early morning walk up towards the dam and reservoir and the Hayden Vaughan walk on a beautiful Morning having parked in the village hall £1 honesty box. Noticed the cafe and stopped for a coffee and cake. Chocolate flapjack substantial and enough for 2, coffee good and sat on the bench near the cancel . Service great and friendly

We walked from Pencelli and were hoping that the cafe would be open. Due to Covid restrictions, only takeaway was available, but service was very good. We had teas and toasties, eaten on the canal bank, where there are convenient benches.

...by providing great before- or after-eats and drinks. It was take-away only when we visited today due to Covid restrictions. However, restrictions or not, it would be difficult to find a better egg and bacon sarnie within miles! And when we returned later for tea and scones, it was all equally as good. Our server Jasmine was a left-handed delight; friendly, light-hearted and efficient which are qualities sometimes sadly lacking from customer service these days. The adjacent shop was also well-stocked and featured the same helpful and smiley service. Well done and thank you for adding to our day's enjoyment.

Myself and my two friends arrived here cold and dispirited after our accommodation had been less than expected. We were met by friendly staff and quickly ordered a full breakfast each. When it came, it was hot and tasty. It wasn't fine dining but it was just what was needed. Hot drinks were good too. The cakes looked delicious but after a breakfast like that, I couldn't fit any more in. Very nice little spot!

The coffee and walnut cake is OUT OF THIS WORLD!!! Discovered this delightful shop while on a 100-mile cycle ride. For a £5 deposit there are padlocks/chains so you can lock your bike. What a fabulous idea! Such a simple way to be really bike-friendly.Even though I arrived after the cafe was closed, the shop/post office was still open, and they allowed me to use the loo in the cafe which was very much appreciated.I bought an enormous slice of coffee and walnut cake for such an incredibly cheap price I had to ask if there was a mistake. I can honestly say the cake was the very best coffee and walnut cake I have ever eaten! Turns out the cakes are baked on the premises by a phenomenally talented young man. I immediately enquired whether the cake-baker was married, as having a husband who can bake such awesome cakes must be quite marvellous. Sadly he is already married. Ho hum. I shall just have to keep returning to this little shop as often as possible to eat more of this marvellous cake.

Cooked breakfast, £10. A little pricey but totally ruined by the cheap, watered down tomato ketchup which tasted of vinegar! I tried to make do with it but then thought I've paid £10 so I asked if the cafe had Heinz....do restaurants think customers can't tell cheap quality? The lady didn't really care, prob thought she'd never see me again. It's like going out for a really expensive dinner and ruining it drinking cheap vinegary wine! To the cafe owner... youre penny pinching and it's bad for repeat business!

A perfect lunchtime stop on our canal holiday. We both ordered toasted sandwiches, tuna and cheese and ham and cheese - both were stuffed full on tasty brown bread with a fresh side salad with homemade coleslaw. We sat outside and enjoyed watching the world go by. When we went in to pay we praised the owner and he seemed taken aback - he clearly doesn't realise what good food he is serving!

We have used this cafe for the last 9 years on a regular basis enjoying its usually good food and friendly excellent service by the staff, although standards have been gradually dropping lately, which is a shame. However, we stopped for lunch here as we normally do during our walk along the Breco/Monmouth canal on the 1/9/16. The cheese ploughmans I ordered came only with a very small pot of "grated" cheese instead of the normal wedges. My wife's jacket potato was also not up to its normal standard. Very dissapointed! Will give it one more try and hope it returns to how it used to be.

This is a pleasant cafe and the food is above average. We enjoyed our lasagne and home made cake and crumble. Prices at the upper end for a cafe. All looks very clean. The service is laid back to the point of sleep and the coffee comes from a bean to cup machine (so we didn't bother). I am not sure who they run this for. I felt it was not for the customers. I did not appreciate the cook trying to barge in past me whilst I was trying to leave and not letting my GF out who has difficulty walking. I had to show a young south asian tourist how to open a capped bottle on a wall because apparently the cafe does not possess a bottle opener. He bought the drink from the shop which is part of the same business. Clearly not in need of repeat custom form neither Herefordshire nor India.

We have called here for lunch on at least a dozen occasions, as it is so close to so many lovely walks, both along the Canal and around the nearby reservoir. I tend to go for the All day breakfast, which can't be faulted, others in the party alternate between the Toasted sandwiches, Baked potato, and more recently the home made Quiche. Comments were always excellent, apart from the last few visits when we felt the standards had slipped somewhat, maybe a symptom of the increasing popularity of the place... Baked Potatoes a bit dry, Quiche a bit hard and reheated etc.Hot Chocolate, and Coffee still lovely, as are the selection of Cakes.. maybe we will avoid busy times and call when it is quieter .. the place is a godsend when on a winter walk.. Regular staff were not there on our last visit, so maybe the temp staff were a bit stretched..
