Popped in The Rorkes Drift Bar for a quick drink before heading home. Lovely pub friendly locals and barmaid. Made to feel very welcome and the dog got a bowl of water too. Will be popping in there again next time we are in Brecon.

A 30 strong team made final preparations for a charity event in aid of Dementia UK on the Brecon Beacons, raising over £5k in the process! To that end I wanted to leave the bar a review to thank the team for all they did, ensuring our stay was as welcoming and as relaxed as it could have been, which was essential to the success of this challenge. We spent the day there, enjoying the great atmosphere and banter between the team. I must pay special thanks to the landlady who donated her Grand National winnings to the charity, something that we will never forget. Next time I/we are down, we will check in again! My thanks to all.

Visited Brecon for the first time, for BAFC weekend. Amazing pub, the staff and locals were friendly. Best Guinness in town and best atmosphere too. Fantastic place, I can't praise them enough.

Great pub. The (I'm assuming) landlady was very welcoming and a really great host. No coffee machine but she was more than happy for us to bring our Costa in. Great for watching the football. Would highly recommend!

Not what I expected with the name Rourkes Drift, was anticipating red coats, pith helmets, muskets, spears, hide shields, etcetera, etcetera, and Michael Caine, with the immortal line that never was...... But walked inside, very modern, good choice of beers and real good price as well, so had a couple!!

Staff were very very friendly. The pub wasn't what we expected. Looks like it has been recently refurbished, very little evidence of anything relating to Rorkes Drift. Quite disappointing.

We called in to Rorkes Drift by chance as they had Sky Sports so we could watch Wrexham FC on their quest for promotion to the Football League. We had a great experience with welcoming and friendly staff and a lovely atmosphere. We will definitely visit again.

A disappointment. From the outside The Rorkes Drift looks like a really historic local pub, and we were expecting a cosy, traditional boozer. What we got was a soulless interior that could have been a naff city centre wine bar, a really poor range of beer (no real ale at all) and the pint we did have was distinctly average, with an odd metallic aftertaste. Two stars as the place was clean enough, the prices were okay and the bar staff member was very friendly. I guess it may come into its own on a Friday night but it was a let down for what we were expecting.

Lovely find on our walk into brecon town centre. The staff were very welcoming. Food was really nice. Will definetly pop in again when we re next in brecon.

What a lovely place. We wandered up the road looking for a bar for refreshments as we were visiting for a rugby game. We were given such a warm welcome from the lovely barman as we entered. The inside is modern clean and very friendly. I’d definitely return.

Tucked away in the town of Brecon, I wasn't expecting much. But credit where it's due I was pleasantly surprised. Exterior image is a stereotypical "squaddie set" pub. However the inside was a small and compact mix of sports bar and booth bar. Bar was front and centre to the doors with a large screen one side and booth style seating left with other views of TVs about. Clean and tidy everywhere. Bar staff where great and the ladies behind the bar looked ready to party and always smiling which made a change from the usual "poor a pint and be grumpy" persona most bars have now. And to be fair the lady in the split thigh skirt was busy, proactive and very pretty. However.. there was a few local girls (it's obvious I'm not Welsh) who wanted our attention. I've never seen bor been hit on so aggressively in my life. It was mental. Harmless but hilarious. Short of being told " get in the car you're coming with me" it was plain to see they wanted a moustache ride. I just wanted to watch the rugby and drink my pint. Overall a good atmosphere and great little pub. See you when I'm next back

Enjoyed going back there Afder a 15 year absence i was in the Army then so nice to have come back as a veteran staff and locals made you feel very welcome, great to be back.

Decent little venue which obviously was an old pub converted into a Bar/Club. Drinks prices were VERY good. Clean and Tidy. One point that did make me chuckle, as a retired Detective! They had two doormen at the front door/main entrance and there was a side door open to the dance floor completely unattended where all the under aged drinkers and drug dealers could walk straight in without fear of being caught or stopped. 😆

Nice little bar tucked away in Brecon Town. The bar person was very friendly and helpful and she was even taking the customers drinks to their tables keeping them topped up. They had Sky sports on several TV,s so I imagine it would get very busy when main events were showing I went on a Wednesday afternoon and there were at least 20 people there. Nice place to spend an hour or two.

Lovely staff. They were just about to close early, but the young girl made us very welcome. It's really tastefully done out. Would go again 👍☺️

With a name like "Rorke's Drift," you know you're deep in Wales and far from any "Woke Society." I mean, just look at the name and the history behind it. Naming a bar after a battle during the Anglo-Zulu War as part of Britain's Colonial occupation of South Africa where hundreds of indigenous people were slaughtered by English troops defending their garrison is kind of like Americans naming a bar after the Battle of Wounded Knee. Revisionist History on my part? Perhaps. Or perhaps more because I feel obligated to point out my feeling of discomfort as a Los Angeles Liberal. Yet, 5 stars. Why? Because the bar's name DOES represent a slice of English history, because I sense the people there are either proud of that victory more than 140 years ago or couldn't give a sh!t, and it's also the most popular bar in all of Brecon. We were there on a Friday evening after work and it was PACKED with the local working classes. As such, an honest slice of heavy accented Welshmen and women spending their paychecks on pints and getting absolutely pissed off their gourds. Kind of the perfect place to get a real sense of local color, really. I'm only sorry I didn't stay longer to witness a fight break out or something - the wife was tired and wanted to get back to the hotel. So, go if you're strong willed, young, don't mind a scrum at the bar to get a drink. Perhaps not if you're looking for a romantic night out with the significant other. Me? I'll go back - by myself or with some mates next time :)

From the outside looks like any other pub (good thing) but you go inside and it’s amazing! Very nicely done up, great music, lovely staff, loads of drinks, feels like a gay bar (it’s not) but I think cos it’s so friendly and such a good vibe it has that feeling. Will tell everyone about this place and would highly recommend.

Definitely the best pub in town, always a welcoming atmosphere and great quality drinks on offer. Good interior layout also that ensures a great view of whichever sport happens to be on.

This bar is absolutely amazing, friendly staff, clean and a great selection of drinks both alcohol and soft drinks. Coffee is served here too which Is at a great price. The bar has a very modern look on the inside and offers all sport showings. Would definitely recommend popping in for a drink.

Very clean and tidy was passing through I was shocked they serve you a 25ml baileys that should be 50ml yet the guy said that's how they sell them, maybe the manager should reevaluate their knowledge of the licencing laws. I was even more shocked by the price of the crisps 25g pack for £1.40 a pack I couldn't believe the price considering a big bag are usually £1 in other pubs.. Clearly didn't read the label of do not sell multipack as a single seems like a moan but its not when the pricing is wrong

First time at Rorkes Drift. Landlord Darren very accommodating, prices fine, pub well kempt, toilets clean and well maintained. Going again tomorrow for the football. Well worth a visit if your in Brecon.

My friends and I came to the Rorke’s early evening and I loved the transition of the atmosphere from daytime to evening, the decor works perfectly for both. Staff are so friendly and chatty and know how to accommodate their service to the different clientele. Fantastic bar!

Came here last minute to watch the Euro semi and final, as was visiting Brecon from Nottingham. Staff got us in a nice booth with a TV right in front. Atmosphere was buzzing, staff over promptly to take drinks orders. Very much a lively pub and was great fun! Best place for sports events and casual drinks in Brecon.

Back under owner manager in 2021, super clean, staff very friendly and happy to chat to you, no food just bar snacks. Great range of drinks. Lovely coffee. Not tried on an evening.

One of the nicest pubs I visited in a long time, venue had covid guidance in place, venue was clean & tidy and nice relaxed atmosphere, restrooms were open - Staff were exceptionally courteous & helpful, nice clean decor and good selection of drinks and soft drinks on offer - can pay by Cash or Card - pleasant experience & I will return next time I'm in Brecon

Signposted as a traditional Welsh pub, in reality only as far as the fact its a pub that sells beer. Clinical / modern interior with no cask ales on at the time of visit. COVID measures seemed thorough however.

The bar man, alex, is a gem! If he ever leaves then I guarantee that four hippos will learn Spanish and poorly recite the Iliad by Homer whilst trampling the pub in a will rampage... it will be beautiful, but also truly aweful... you have been warned, I am a prophet!!!

Great to see step free access to this place. Would be better for an accessible toilet to be fitted out in this place. Friendly staff and great view of the football. Thank you to some great staff.

Sports bar only .. no decent ales certainly wouldn't want to eat in there.

Myself and a group of friends visited on the Thursday of Brecon jazz at around 11pm. We were greeted by a man (or boy according to his attitude) called Alex. He was clearly upset that we came into the pub and we felt extremely awkward and unwanted. However, there was a lovely girl who I believe was named Laura or Lauren ? However, this was overshadowed by the cocky and arrogant nature of Alex, something needs to be done regarding his customer service.
