Fantastic chippy! They delivered to our campsite after ordering online. Quick service and reasonably priced. Tasted lovely!

Disappointing visit today. The fish were small in thick, soggy oily batter. The fish itself was tasteless - not good value for money

A lovely dog friendly place to have a great fish and chips with wonderful, helpful staff! I had a battered sausage and chips and my partner had a battered fish and chips and both were great, will be going back for more!

I have visited this chip shop whenever I am in the area. The food is first class and the staff are brilliant. The portions are very large but quality is not compromised. I recommend the a large cod and the saveloy sausages. Note that a large portion of chips will be enough for a family of 4. Highly recommended.

If you like small portions and soggy chips you'll love it here, and if you want to eat in they will charge you an extra £2.20 (which they don't tell you) for someone to walk 10 paces and serve you. UNBELIEVABLE.!!!!!!

Fish and pie were great and chips were good. The curry was really thick and tasty as well. I would recommend to anyone visiting the local area.

Cooked to order, fresh as you like! Staff were so lovely, even gave us directions to a local supermarket & cooked our order for when we came back - great service. We decided to eat in on a rainy Tuesday night after having a couple of beers at the local pub. The staff were so nice and welcoming, we opted for the fish chips bread and butter and a cup of tea. It was delicious and probably one of the best chippy teas we’ve had in a while. We can definitely recommend.

Central chip shop, quick nice food, exactly what we needed after climbing Cadair Idris. Service was friendly, recommendations were given from the staff and COVID restrictions were in place. £8 for large chips, 2 jumbo sausages and 2 pots of curry sauce. Would return if and when in the area again.

Very good fish and chips, all freshly cooked. I had a nice piece of fish and chips and my other half had sausages and chips. They were lovely.

Good quality food Alround with good service. But, the gravy was a bit wishy washy, maybe that’s a regional thing but not quite what we expected. The one thing that really impressed me was the offer to wrap my food in paper instead of the plastic trays. Maybe the next step would be to do all food in paper unless customer asked for plastic or the food had gravy/ curry on it. But all in, well done for starting the fight against single use plastic.

I went with a friend of mine, who lives in Llanidloes, for dinner last Thursday evening. Put simply, the fish supper we had was the best I had ever tasted. I remembered this establishment from a previous visit and suggested that we return there. I am so glad we did!The other factor that made this a memorable evening was the very warm welcome we received from both the staff and other customers, all of whom greeted us like old friends. The place just seemed to be infused with that certain Welsh 'something' that makes this great country to be full of great people...Thank you to you all for a wonderful dinner, excellent service and a great experience!Rob Marchment

We had an excellent fish and chip dinner for over 30 people and they were kind enough to deliver for us as it was the night before our wedding. Everyone commented on the high quality of the food and the fact that it was all still steaming hot on arrival! Thank you Chris and team! We 100% recommend you! :-)

Called here for lunch on our journey to north powys from carmarthen. 3 adults and 5 children. We were immediately made very welcome even though we had a prom in tow and took over several tables!! The food was excellent and cannot praise enough. The restaurant was spotless and the facilities. We will be back very soon

M\y son and I are regular visitors to Evans who provide freshly cooked food from a varied menu, nothing is ever too much trouble. The staff are friendly and portions hugh and although we always opt for a takeaway, there is the option to eat in.

Moved to mid wales about a year ago and used Caersws fish bar and it put us off as it was very expensive and not a lot of food, then we were told about Evans’s fish bar!

As a static caravan owner in a local caravan park i visit Evans Fish bar every two weeks and have never been disappointed, Great food, lovely people and great value for money.

Evans' is one of my favourite chippys in the area, as they do a decent sized portion and they're done how I like them too. They also have a good vegetarian selection, which is unusual for many chip shops. The staff are friendly too and quick to sort out your order!

We had take-away as the small restaurant was full on a Monday night. All was freshly cooked, and the fish was just right, while the chips were classic chip shop, slightly soft.

Nice chips n peas, the fish was over cooked and the batter a bit greasy but it still beat my expectations.

Fich totally over cooked but batter not crispy around fish floury raw taste. Chips cremated must have been refried twice no potatoe flesh left just hard and greasy. Will not be revisiting.

Stopped on Saturday evening on our way home from Snowdonia. Pleasant staff, just right portions (not too big) and a steaming mug of tea. Both the fish and the chips were cooked to perfection. Highly recommended

Spur of the moment visit after a meeting ran late and didn’t want to cook. Fish supper for hubby, grilled fish and mushy peas for me (trying to be gluten free). A delicious piece of well cooked white fish, just right for my delicate stomach. For husband good portion of fish, chips and mushy peas with slice of bread and butter and mug of tea, all in.

The menu is excellent,varied & good, not just fish & chips. The pizzas are very good.food cooked to order so there is a bit of a wait. The place is spotlessly clean with friendly service.The only downside for me is that they don't do mini fish & a large one is too much for me.

Great service and perfect fish and chips. Can eat in or takeout. Small facilities but got there just after 4.30pm evening opening times, so fairly quiet. Option of mushy peas or beans and sauces all provided. We had traditional bread and butter and plenty of variety of drinks

My boyfriend and I went to Evans Fish Bar as it had good ratings on google and we decided to eat in. I had plaice, chips and beans and he had faggots, chips and mushy peas. We also had a hot drink and everything was marvellous! The service was excellent too so we will definitely be going back.

We called in here on the off-chance and found it to be a welcoming chip shop with restaurant selling great freshly cooked food and with super friendly staff.

We stopped here on the way home after a day out and we will definitely stop there again. Chips crispy and abundant. Haddock cooked to order in light melt in the mouth batter, staff efficient and welcoming. Lots of locals buying their supper : always a good sign.

Called in for the OAP special fish and chips for £4.99. The place was nearly full so we had to sit at a table at the back. The staff were very smart in Evans uniform livery and were very smiley and helpful. We both had the fish and chips and mushy peas, with bread and butter, tartar sauce and a large mug of coffee. It was totally delicious. The table was scrupulously clean and as customers left their tables were cleared instantly. The menu is however quite extensive so if you prefer something other than fish there is plenty to choose from. We will visit again next time we are in Llani.

For the second time (in 3 years!) I've had a team of Scouts finish their Gold DofE expedition in the Mid-Wales area. They need some food after all that work, and there is no better place (or plaice!) to drop into at the start of our long drive back to Leicestershire than this fine establishment!Really friendly staff, excellent food leaving everyone really happy!Hope to return again in the future!

We were camping locally and had some excellent fish and chips from here. My friend's son even commented they were the best he had ever had! For me, they were up there too! The food was freshly cooked, the staff were very friendly and the prices were reasonable. I would happily visit again if I was in the area. You could also sit in to eat, however we had the take away option.

we wandered into this place on spec, as we didn't know what we wanted to eat. My partner and I both ordered pizza and I can honestly say it is the best pizza I have ever tasted. The food is freshly prepared, so a bit of a wait, but well worth waiting for. The staff were very friendly. Just a pity it is 200 miles from home. We will definitely visit again when we are next in the area.

We decided to try this fish & chip shop as we were told how nice it was.We wasn't impressed to be honest, there wasn't a lot of seats & we were unsure whether we had to be seated.Nobody came over so we seated ourselves.It was ages before the waitress came over to us but she served regular customers before seeing to us.We had pie & Chips, it was ok but not as good as we were told.

We walked through Llanidloes looking for somewhere to eat. The fishand chip shop was the last one we looked at. I saw there was tables and chairs through the window. We found the staff veryvhelpful and friendly. The food was outstanding. Highly recommended.

We were looking for a quick bite to eat before our journey home. We spotted a fish and chip shop and stopped to get some to eat in the car.What a pleasant surprise we had when we entered Evans's fish bar.They had lovely cafe style tables, superbly clean and inviting. We were invited to sit and look at the menu.Well what a delight to see, locally sourced faggots, plaice and chips, homemade currys, pizza and a choice of a glass of red or white wine, cider or beer!! What more could you ask for!The plaice was breaded and crisp but the fish was cooked to perfection, very soft and absolutely delicious!!My husband had the faggot and it was fantastic! They are from the local butcher our lovely waitress told us.We followed it with delicious apple pie and ice cream. The service was excellent, fast efficient and extremely helpful. We could not fault the whole experience, and to top it all our bill came to less than £20 with drinks... Amazing!!Thank you to the two lovely ladies and their staff, we will definitely call again when we're in the area. Thank you

Ate here yesterday after a stunning drive from Somerset in the beautiful Wye Valley. Fish and chips were excellent and freshly cooked. Chris and Lorraine and the two young girl assistants were friendly and engaging. Best fish and chips I have had in years and Llanidloes looked wonderful in bright sunshine...treat yourselves...

We enjoyed this little shop for a fish & chips dinner. The twins who served & cooked our food were so much fun & helpful. They let me try smashed peas (yuck!) & decided not to order them with my dinner. There were people walking in ordering take out dinners the entire time we were there. We met a regular customer who was a retired sheep farmer. The ladies obviously knew him quite well & they helped facilitate our conversation with him so we could learn more about sheep farming. It was a fun dinner & we loved their fish & chips.

We go to the fish bar every Wednesday and service is always top notch. Smiley staff on arrival, always reserve us a table and always check if everything is ok. The fish is always freshly battered and is delicious. I believe they also serve beer which is very unique.

Freshly cooked fish and chips, very tasty, good portion size and reasonable price. We went back a few nights later for Pizza, which was also very good. We will visit again when back in the area.

So far we have eaten here twice . Both times were excellent . The first time it was on our way down from Southampton to our cottage in nearby trefeglywys. It was almost closing time but the lady serving was very welcoming and happily allowed us to sit in to eat . The food and service was very good . The staff and food here are excellent , I'm sure there will be many more meals eaten here ! Good honest food and excellent value .

My grandparents used to live across the road from this family run fish and chip shop and we have been coming here every time we visit Wales for 30 years. I've never had a bad meal from this restaurant. Always made fresh to order and a really high standard, clean chip shop. We will be back next year.

I've been twice this week. The staff are very friendly. The food is cooked to order so no dried up sad sausage waiting to be bought for example. I've just had the best plaice I've ever had.

This is one of the best chip shops in Wales. The battered fish was excellent and the service was friendly. Good quality and food and an appropriate price. Great to have the option of sitting in to eat.

We had fish and chips.. all food was cooked from fresh.. we've never had a bad experience.. when you've ordered it, it normally does take 5mins to get your food...but its well worth the wait cause they're cooking it from fresh just for you. Staff are always happy and friendly.

Stopped in Llanidloes to look for something to eat enroute from North Wales to Cardiff. This chips shop looked nice and clean from the outside so we went in. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Prices were reasonable. Friendly staff let me use their toilets whilst I waited for my takeaway. The toilet was outside but so clean and smelled lovely! They obviously take pride in their toilets and the rest of the building was clean and fresh.

Typically, we only visit this place twice a year, when visiting lovely Llanidloes. You are guaranteed a lovely, warm welcome, excellent customer service and last, but not least, great fish and chips, along with other choices, which, going by other customers' comments, are equally popular. Importantly, the restaurant is spotlessly clean, throughout. This is a real asset to the town. We'll look forward to our next visit.

The food here is always well prepared and high quality and the staff friendly and polite. The have a wide range of choices beyond the normal fish and chip fayre which is helpful for the kids.

Having lived in the area for 15 years we have only just discovered this brilliant fish and chip shop. Wonderful, welcoming service for both eat in and out. Lovely crisp fish and chips, the wife's food and great home made meals like chilli con carne and thai curry for me. Phew. Haven't tasted better outside of an actual Thai restuarant and a great price. For 2 people fish and chips and a thai half and half (chips and rice) around £12-50 including 2 mugs of tea, bread and butter and chutney. What value! The BEST chippy in the mid-Wales area. Only wish we'd found out about it earlier! Bah humbug!! Oh yes OAP day Tuesdays!

Bought fish and chips to take out. The fish was freshly cooked while I waited, with a lovely thin batter that did not mask the freshness of the fish. The chips were slightly over cooked but piping hot. Service was fast, friendly and efficient. The restuarant area looked clean, although basic.

We called here on our way home from Rhayader to Tywyn 1 ago and we were dissapointed there was just one lady serving when we called and we ordered sausage and chips ,the chips were slightly over cooked as was the sausage it all tasted like the oil was burning and we noticed the sausages in the hot box were black along one side another customer came in and she asked the lady behind the counter if she was on her own she said no but we didn,t see anyone else we were disappointed with our meal as all our previous meals had been excellent

Found this gem by chance , Stopped to eat on route , and found the charming hostess's attentive and able to rearrange standard meals to accommodate our taste. Food freshly prepared - worth waiting for and not expensive. We ate in as that was an option , At under £12 for two meals Faggot chips and peas / Lasagne with a side salad, Enjoyed ! Recommend!
