Lunch Y Sgwar Located outside Nathan Davies’ SY23 restaurant, a casual, outdoor venue. Essentially, Y Sgwâr is an umbrella-covered, glass-sided terrace dotted with wicker armchairs and high bar stools, plus a smoking BBQ at one end – from which ultra-simple small plates emerge when ready. As we're eating later, we chose just a few dishes to keep us going. We could have devoured the whole menu, and the choice was tough. Prawns - Nam Jim £12 Chicken- Lemon- Sesame £12 New Potatoes - Garlic Aioli- Lemon £4 Who'd have thought potatoes could be this delicious. Service is chilled but attentive. Aberystwyth is a breezy spot at the best of times, but the glass partitions, brollies, and heaters really keep the wind out.

Absolutely LOVE this cafe, the best mocha in Aberystwyth and their cakes are fantastic! I came to do a bit of work in between appointments, and had a mocha and slice of coffee cake - both delicious. Ended up staying a bit longer, so had lunch as well, which was equally fantastic - sweet potato fries, crispy fried whitebait, and a fig/rocket salad. Huge portions of everything, for £12, was delicious and I was full til late evening! Staff are really lovely and friendly, and the atmosphere in there is great too. Dog friendly, and there's a lift and accessible toilet for those using wheelchairs, or if you have a pram etc. Always my first choice for coffee or lunch :)

Had a breakfast and a panini as our brunch today. Lovely food, great service and some quirky art to look at. Go on, give it a try if you haven’t already.

Decided to give this place another chance but same rude staff unfortunately. Very busy, but not enough staff so food and drink served in takeaway cups and containers. I go to a cafe to drink my coffee from a proper cup. If I wanted takeaway that is what I would order. When I asked for a proper cup I was told, curtly, that if I had that other customers would complain. Why hasn’t the manager put enough staff on in what is obviously a busy time of the year? I am so sad as this was once my favourite cafe. The staff, not the young girls, need to be more polite and welcoming.

Premier rooms good but costly for what you get. Clean. ''Feature lighting'' I'll thought out and impractical ( do the design team test out their ideas - decent lighting for shaving only if you stood a yard away from mirror...) Small car park managed by a private company and seemed that there was not enough space for all guests.

We were on a day out in Aberystwyth a week ago when we asked a local resident about a good place to eat. Glengower was the answer without hesitation and we soon found ourselves sat enjoying the glorious sunshine. The staff were very friendly (big thank you to the lovely lady from Belfast behind the bar) and before we even got to our table on the front patio, it was already set and ready for us. The kids were well taken care of with their food whilst I had a delicious steak and chips and my better half had scampi. My steak was cooked to rare perfection and the scampi were really juicy with crispy coating. We also had a fly-by from an Atlas A400M which was a sight to see! The prices were very fair for such good food and the next time we're back this way, I've not doubt we'll be eating here again.

Very underrated pub in Aberystwyth. It's always my starting point in every Aber night out. I was a frequent patron during my time in uni and after; from 2018 till 2023. Scholars Bar a fantastic venue to meet up with friends and have drinks with. The tables are ample and spacious, enough to accommodate large social groups. I'm sadden to hear it's temporary closed even under a new management. Hopefully, it gets the love it deserves in the near future if it ever reopens.

Puzzlingly empty place that seemed to have a confused identity as a combined cafe/bar/restaurant. The food was actually very good; one of the best starters I've had in ages (Japanese tempura veg), and served promptly. Being a bar, it had my favourite drink, Crabbies, which you hardly ever find in restaurants, so that was a bonus. However the bored waitress seemed to think having no customers meant turning the radio up to 11 (some kind of horrific Saturday night jungle/drum n bass banging and shouting noise), which wasn't my idea of dining background music. With a bit of staff training and a marketing revamp, I'm sure the good food could bring some repeat business.

Lovely Chinese and delivered within the hour of ordering to our caravan near Aberystwyth. Ordered the chicken & mushroom soup and my fiancé had the chicken & noodle soup, both very tasty! We then had the delux starter along with prawn balls in bbq sauce which we both shared a single portion: Unfortunately we couldn’t eat our mains as the food was very plentiful and ended up eating the main meals namely the special curry and chicken chow mein the next day which was very nice.

On a rather chilly October evening, waiting for our restaurant reservation, we came across an A board advertising the Bank Vault in a side street in the town centre. We were drawn to the 'Craft Beer' but ironically ended up ordering a Barti Rum! They had lots of choice- really pleasing to see lots of welsh beers both on tap and in the fridge. They had a stage set up as they were having a band in later. It was still early, so quite quiet. It wasn't a particularly 'cosy' vibe, despite the location being quite small. I think if you are really into your craft beer then it will be a great location to visit. I thought it was good value, £5.80 for 2 local rums on the rocks.

The cakes are a hit and miss. I wouldn’t go out of my way to buy anything…but if passing it’s an alright cafe. Staff are lovely!
