Heating not being turned on at all, they give you a fan radiator to plug in, windows are old and don't close properly so all the cold air comes in, the deluxe room is not so deluxe after all as the advertised jacuzzi doesn't work and the tub doesn't even hold water, the restaurant is very very overpriced considering the portions are ridiculously small, parking is small and with most of it being used by staff, there's not much left and we ended up being blocked. No value for money whatsoever, i'd rather stay in a Travelodge, which i did because i left that "hotel" after 3 hours

Nice little hotel, room was very small though and the floor was sloping. The windows were single glazed so lots of noise from outside. Breakfast was lovely.

My visit to the hotel and spar was a tale of two halves. I did not stay at the hotel so I can not say more than the decor was very nice. I visited the spar which was a treat for my birthday. The lady who gave me my treatments was very professional. Very good at her job. Friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere there was very relaxing and a 10 out of 10 experience. The second half of my visit took place upstairs. Afternoon tea. What a treat or I was thinking it was going to be. To be honest I was embarrassed for my hosts who had planned a present for me. The lady that served us was a nice girl. The afternoon tea was very disappointing. The sandwiches were ok. The sweet part was far from what we were expecting. A fruit scone that was a crumbling shop bought mess. The cream not only wasn't clotted but it wasn't even fresh cream. A chocolate brownie, an inch square that was gluepy. A piece of shop bought carrot cake tray bake and likewise the lemon cake. £15 a head is not an expense for an afternoon tea but considering where it was I am so disappointed as it is by far the worst afternoon tea I have ever had. A treat it certainly was not.

A lovely hotel with stunning views on the sea front. Helpful and friendly staff and great food and facilities. Also large carpark and overflow at the rear of the building.

I have stayed at the Marine in the past and had a really good experience, but sadly, my most recent stay will be my last. I had a great check in, the lady who dealt with me was very nice and helpful. The room itself was nice, and unlike me last visit, the jacuzzi bath worked this time. Sadly, when I returned to the room late in the evening, I realise the room was ridiculously hot. I tried to turn off the radiator but found the thermostat was faulty (hanging off!) The room could not be cooled down at all as opening the window meant constant noise from the street, and the portable fan left in the room was incredibly noisy. Reception was shuttered and closed when I returned (even though it wasn’t much last 11pm), so I could not complain or ask to be moved. On check out, a different lady dealt with me, she didn’t even bother to look up at me let alone ask if my stay was ok, say thank you or goodbye, so I figured there was no point explaining my experience to her. I then contacted Expedia to ask about a refund, they spoke to the hotel who asked them to email the request. Having done that the hotel said no to a refund as I did not raise the issue and ask to be moved (who was I going to ask? There were no staff on duty!), and because I hadn’t complained on check out (yeah, again, who to? The top of the ladies head?). The hotel also said there was no issue with the heating, but a quick search of history reviews of Gwesty Marine show I’m not the first person to experience sweltering heat which can’t be lowered. All in all, a hotel I’ve stayed at a few times over the years showed that they would rather lie to Expedia, and expect a guest to do the impossible rather than provide a good, decent, adequate level of customer service. Steer clear of this place, aim for the Premier Inn a couple of doors down, or the Starling Cloud which is nearby. Both provide decent guest experiences and don’t lie about the issues you face.

Very disappointed. The spa is a joke, the sauna isn't even warm and the steam room doesn't work. The room was cramped, and the jacuzzi in the room was completely different to the photos advertised online. The sea view was lovely, but the windows were single-glazed and there was a cold draft, the window looked like it was about to break with every wind blow. The breakfast was included yet so not worth it- the food was cold, poor quality and the staff was not welcoming. The worst was the attitude of the male receptionist, which was absolutely disgusting and ruined our stay and conflicted with the words of the nice receptionist who checked us in. Another morning receptionist said we could get a discount for our next stay but we will NOT BE STAING HERE AGAIN. We should get a refund, not another stay discount. Not worth the money especially 165£ for the apparently deluxe room!!! Avoid.

Disappointingly Cramped and Overpriced During my recent stay at the hotel, I was taken aback by the underwhelming experience, especially given the steep price point. The room provided was astonishingly small, confining, and far from what one might expect when paying a premium. The spatial constraints were not just limited to the living area but extended to the bathroom facilities as well, which were particularly inconvenient to use. The shower and toilet, crammed into what felt like an afterthought of space, presented a daily challenge. The lack of room in the shower made it difficult to move without bumping into walls or fixtures, and the proximity of the toilet to other bathroom amenities was uncomfortably close, undermining any sense of personal space or comfort. Given the substantial cost of the accommodation, my expectations were understandably high, and unfortunately, the hotel failed to meet them on several fronts. The discomfort due to the cramped quarters significantly detracted from my overall experience, leaving me to conclude that the value for money was severely lacking. I cannot recommend this hotel room to potential visitors looking for a comfortable and spacious place to stay. The combination of exorbitant rates and inadequate room dimensions, particularly concerning the bathroom facilities, makes it difficult to justify choosing this hotel over others with better amenities and more reasonable pricing.

A great dog friendly pub that offers good food and massive portions. Friendly staff and a real happy local pub that is pleasantly busy but not rowdy or unwelcoming... Ideally located near to the castle and other tourist attractions.

I had the Mediterranean Tart, except they'd run out so it was replaced with two tasteless veggie sausages. The vegetables were horribly overcooked to the point of mush. The gravy was copious but flavorless. Terrible meal.

Instead of a whole cookie it appears that I have been given two pieces from different cookies, not to mention that it’s not even a full cookie, I’m absolutely disgusted. Sandwiches were also cold the time they got to us.
