Don’t be put off by the unprepossessing frontage and entryway (the building was formerly a cinema). Inside is a large, characterful dining room with a bar at one end, which is given a delightful ambience by lit candles on every table. What’s more, the menu offers a tempting selection of dishes which - in our experience - are expertly prepared and presented and absolutely delicious! The service was prompt, friendly and professional and the prices very reasonable for the calibre of the dining experience.
A lucky find for us on a Bank Holiday Monday evening when many other restaurants were closed. So good that we returned for more the following evening. Highly recommended!
Wasn’t sure about having a meal here because of mixed reviews but I’m really glad I gave it a try.
Food was very tasty and cooked very well.
Our server was extremely friendly and very helpful with recommendations on what to try and was very understanding on my partners intolerance to too much spice so he recommended a certain dish for her to try which came with a separate sauce which he said would be made extra mild to accommodate her intolerance.
Portion sizes were very good and couldn’t finish my meal so took the remainder home.
Will definitely be back again
Delicious evening meal with family celebrating a member's birthday.
The choice was different from other Indian restaurants, and refreshingly so, absolutely delicious foods, with ample portions, lovely service and pleasant surroundings and decor .
Please visit and enjoy something different.
I stayed in the Green Tree Hotel on the 29th of April. I would 100% return there for any future trip to Peebles.
I was warmly received by the manager who made me feel at ease in a swift fashion.
The room was excellent (many thanks to the house keeping staff for their hard work), and the location pristine. I enjoyed a comfortable stay and had a superbe night of sleep.
The breakfast was also delivered by the chef herself in the morning, which was delicious.
I will also thank the bartender who helped me get back to my room as I was a little bit lost, on the night of the 29th.
Great hotel.
We waited 1.5 hours for food after ordering to be told that the large table who sat AFTER us, were ahead of us and it would take more time. We ordered two orders of nachos & grilled chicken skewers. Nothing that would take even 30 minutes to cook. This was extremely disappointing and honestly we were completely abandoned and our server never came back. Three tables around us for food and paid before we even got food.
0/10.
Food was lovely. No complaints at all. However, when it came to paying, (I always use Apple Pay) the machine wanted me to swipe my card. I never have my card with me because as already stated, I use Apple Pay. I informed the lady that I did not have my card. She said in a loud voice that she needed payment.and said that the machine did not belong to the establishment. I informed her that there must be a problem with the machine as exactly the same thing happened the last time I visited in January. At that time I thought it was a glitch and never thought for one minute that it would happen again. When I told her this she shrugged her shoulders and said “that’s technology “. She then admitted that it had happened a “few times” I found the whole situation extremely embarrassing as the restaurant was full and there were other customers waiting to pay. She then said I could pay over the phone with my card the following day so “I wouldn’t have to come back in to pay!!!” I told her I wouldn’t be coming all the way back from Arbroath and I duly gave her my phone number so she will phone me tomorrow and I will pay by card. However, I think the restaurant need to take responsibility for this, and investigate why this is happening. This is the only place that I have had problems using Apple Pay. The whole point of it is that you don’t need to carry your card. Quite frankly I felt humiliated and felt as if I I just didn’t want to pay for my meal. I think this is poor service and very poor attitude from staff. I certainly wouldn’t want anyone else feel the way I was made to feel. I certainly won’t be going back.
I’m very happy because my crush came back to the shop today. I was a bit worried because I mentioned how beautiful I think she is to someone and she had disappeared from the shop… You know, I am sick but I am not weird, crazy or dangerous. In fact I am very well read and educated. I probably have more intellect than average, but I’m like Humpty Dumpty after the fall, broken in pieces and like a faulty robot, I understand that can be scary or uncomfortable. I am really very sweet and able to have a discussion (with broken speech) on any subject you like… Anyway, seeing her made me happy, she’s too special and I don’t want to make her feel uncomfortable.
