We have been tonight to celebrate our mums 50th birthday. There was nothing that was too much for Donna, she made us feel like old friends. The service and food was 10/10. Thank you, again xo
Just when we thought Arran couldn’t possibly give us any more delights we came across this restaurant. Absolutely delicious food with a real flavour of Scotland, incredible value and a charming host. The perfect end to our trip.

Bacon roll. £8.49 for burned, cold bacon, served on a burger bun. How can they justify this? Served coffee which was finished before the bacon roll due to the time it arrived. Total monopoly, but pay it if you want but no alternative.
Total for 2 coffee's and two bacon rolls over £28.
Family night out, very pleasant environment - lovely spacious table for 8 of us, not too close to other dinners. The food was very nice, hot plates and the food was well presented. All 3 courses were very enjoyable - minor changes to some meals was requested and the were acted on without any fuss. The staff were very polite but the speed of the service may have been an issue if we had been constrained by time or were in a hurry. However the staff helped us to have a very enjoyable evening. We will return.
Myself and my friend go for a mate date - every 2 weeks and The Harbour Lights in Irvine - never fails to be nothing short of tasty food amazing staff and serivce second to none - and for the price it's the place to be . The chef has to be regonised as food portion quailty and taste is amazing . Well run and lovely setting . Nothing is a bother for any of the staff always served with a smile
Just had a plate of the gnocchi. I was kind of expecting the usual plate of rib sticking mush but instead I was dished up a beautifully created plate of flavours. Very impressive. Each mouthful gave a surprising wee nugget of something different. Perfectly cooked, a myriad of texture and the perfect portion size served on sparklingly clean crockery and served up by an enthusiastic and happy lass with red hair. A crisp pint of cider was an unintentionally perfect pairing.
First class stuff. Thank you.
Ordered dressed fish and chips and a black pudding and chips. Black pudding was really tasty and the fish was very nice. Chips were good chippy chips. Staff very friendly and it is a very busy chip shop and rightly so.
First time in over a year, been many times in past. This time, disappointing. Prices higher than similar type establishments and portion sizes not what they used to be despite this. Fat on the bacon topping my burger was almost raw. Salad bland, used to come with a lovely dressing. Small basket of fries. £19 for an underwhelming burger.
A family member had a chicken dish, again £19. One chicken breast, a tiny portion of rice, some sauce and a chopped carrot that didn't belong on the plate.
A bowl of maccaroni £17 and much smaller than in the past.
Two desserts, £8.50 each for the tiniest piece of fudge cake and only marginally larger cheese cake which was more of a firm mouse.
Finally £4.50 for a pint of lemonade.
Eating out isn't cheap anywhere decent now but if im going to be charged such as this, I expect good food and not to feel as though I'm still hungry.
Average only. Expected more. Fish n chips were over cooked. Portions small. Veggie burger was probably the best option but considering the hype about the place? Give it a miss

The room we stayed in within the courtyard felt dated & not very clean. There were marks & stains all over our bed & pillows and the walls had been half painted. The sofa bed was practically in pieces - thankfully we didn't need it. There was no temperature control gauge/air con & the room lacked a mini fridge as well which would have been very handy since we were there two nights.
The breakfast set up was terrible - especially for a busy Saturday morning. The breakfast buffet was right next to several entrance ways as well as other tables which meant people were coming in & out causing a jam. Despite being down for 8am, there was barely any food left and the stuff that was there was freezing cold and undercooked ! Pastries were not replaced so there was none on offer, there was no milk but the teas & coffees and people were having to ask staff and the one cup of tea I managed to get was again cold.
The good is decent enough but I always leave feeling it’s never quite worth the money. Kids meals are 9 quid and don’t even include a drink. It could easily be (and often is for us) the most expensive meal you’ll have on the island, without ever really delivering anything to justify that tag.
