Lido Troon in South Ayrshire

It is still as good as it has been for years. It has been a few years since we have been but the service is great and the food is fantastic. Favourite restaurant in Ayrshire. It was also the best Manhattan I have been drunk!

Travelling up to Stirling via the scenic route, so always stop off in Troon for the fresh (cold) air and breakfast at the Lido. I ordered the full breakfast, which was phenomenal and kept me full for the day. Staff as always, are lovely and super helpful.

Hellish experience received a very salty pizza and all the staff could say was ''Im very sorry about that'' no offer of replacement nor refund or partial refund of our meal.

Often have delightful breakfasts in the Lido. EVERYTHING is great but l would like to mention the service in particular: Jane and Dylan are consummate professionals that is for sure but their service is even more than that! Their warmth and hospitality is, in my long experience, unbeatable! Maybe could be equalled but never surpassed!!! Oh l should mention the breakfast chef: no matter what you may have in the morning the chef will di it to perfection!!!!! Must add this: the wonderful chef has a name; Sophie, this morning breakfast waitress, immediately sang his praises and said he is John. Yes John is a marvel ! But I must add that Sophie is another brilliant member of the Lido family with a lovely personality! Even the customers are charming: two young ladies were in for breakfast rolls and kindly offered to help me as l was making my way to the car. Yes Troon Lido is very special!!

8 of us dined on Saturday night. Great mixture of food including pasta, steaks and pizza's. Drinks were good and brought to the table promptly by friendly and efficient staff

Beef Rossini steak was as tough as boots. Response from server was just an apology nothing else. Would never go back.

The food was great; can't complain about the portion sizes and it was very tasty. This isn't a cheap place to eat, but the quality of the food reflects that. Personally, I found it good value. The starter came fairly quickly, but there was a bit of a wait for the main. Maybe that's because I had the lamb tagine (it was worth the wait, if that's the case!), but none of the servers explained the delay and in fact, between courses, they weren't attentive. At one point our drinks had run dry and it was difficult to catch the attention of the servers. I suspect they may have been slightly understaffed. The servers themselves were very cheery and engaging, just not attentive enough. One other wee blot was at the end when I asked for an espresso - the barman delivered it, but didn't offer sugar or a teaspoon, which I had to go find. Two meals (2 courses), 4 drinks, and an espresso came to approx £80 with tip. Will probably go back.

2 thin pieces of cremated beef that was supposed to be a premium beef burger. You would at least have expected the microwave food to have been hot, but lukewarm at best. Did I complain? What’s the point? If it can’t be served correctly the first time, how is a second time going to be any better. Besides the evening was already ruined, when everyone is waiting for you to let them have another go and making a ‘burger and chips’

Excellent for coffee and a chat. I go to Lido on a regular basis for either coffee or a meal. I find it ideal for the food, service and the atmosphere. I would definitely recommend it.

Food was delishious. Was a birthday lunch. Well worth paying a little extra. Puddings just watch the pudding, the ice cream in particular. Ask for real ice cream.

Lido Troon is an absolute gem! The food is consistently excellent, with a wide-ranging menu that caters to all tastes, from fresh seafood to wood-fired pizzas. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, making it a great spot for anything from a casual meal to a special occasion. The staff is friendly and attentive, adding to the overall fantastic experience. Plus, being so close to the beach, it’s the perfect place to relax after a walk along the coast. Highly recommend Lido for anyone visiting Troon!

Fabulous spot - 5 stars all round!

Eight of us went for dinner to celebrate a 50th birthday. It was a rainy Monday evening but the restaurant was still fairly busy. We were given a nice round table and got good service. Most of us had three courses and all the plates went back empty to the kitchen. I had one of the best fish and chips I've ever tasted. Delicious! The staff had noted one of our group wearing a birthday badge so the birthday boy was presented with a surprise slice of cake with a massive sparkler in it. A lovely gesture!

Our second visit to Lido. First time was for breakfast, which was delicious, and this time for lunch. So, so tasty. Shared a couple of starters (chicken liver parfait and prawn cocktail - can't remember the proper name) and the tapas sharing board. Wow. The staff are friendly and attentive, the decor and atmosphere is inviting and it's just a lovely place to spend some time relaxing. We'll definitely be back!

A well-to-do average in everything

Meet friends here for dinner on a Tuesday evening. Loved the decor and ambience of the Lido and the menu had a great selection of food for all tastes. I had a burger and onion rings and both were very good. As was the cheesecake for dessert. Service was friendly and efficient and prices reasonable.

We had a family/friends Birthday dinner on Saturday, 18th August, a party of 8. Having heard great things about The Lido, everyone was looking forward to our visit. I have to say everyone was sorely disappointed with both the quality of the food and the service. We had booked for 1715 and we were all on time. It took until after 1800 before anyone got a starter, and the theme of long delays between courses continued. More disappointing was the food. Pasta dishes had clearly been kept warm for some time before service- with the obvious result of a dry overcooked dish. Several of us had chicken dishes and all were seriously overcooked and extremely dry. The restaurant was very busy and staff numbers seemed inadequate to cope. All in all a very disappointing visit which had everyone saying they had no desire to return. I cannot recommend The Lido to anyone.

8 of dined for a family birthday. Lovely menu and I struggled to choose with lots of options. Absolutely everything we ate was lovely - loved my mussels. Clean plates all around. Service was superb - attentive and friendly. Even came out with a sparkler candle for the birthday boy. Thanks for making it a special night. We’ll definitely be very very happy eating here.

Great food and service - dog friendly, they have a covered outdoor area which is for dogs and their owners. Would recommend if you are in Troon.

The fiah and chips is good here but i was disappointed about the portion size: the give you 3 fairly small strips of fried fish in a portion for 16£. It came with a tiny amount of mashed oeas and very small pprtion of sauce. Too little for too much money compared to other fish&chips I had in Scotland. It tasted good though.

There is a feel of luxury in this place without it over the top. Food and service was great and we will definitely come back soon

Had a last minute booking for 8 people whilst busy and we were seated almost immediately. Impeccable service, kind and attentive staff. Food was a 10/10 as well. Can’t fault the staff at all, will 100% be back :)

We've been regular customers at this venue since it opened, the quality of service has declined in the last two years, last night the service was particularly poor, we only had drinks and to our disgust we looked at our receipt this morning, they had the audacity to add a service charge, customers please check your receipts before making payment. We had a similar experience at one of their other venues where we had a meal and a service charge was added

You know it’s good when you forget to take pics! I always come here with my sis when I come to visit her in Scotland and each time it’s been a dream! We made use of the 40% off deal which was fab. I had the meatball pasta which was divine! Friendly quick service and delicious food x

Me and mum visited for fish and chips after the walk on the beach. Food was good, portions very generous, staff super polite and friendly and attentive. Will visit again!

Food was good tasting but after waiting 40 minutes. My pasta arrived with the smallest portion I've seen. In fact, it was the same size as the "mac and cheese" SIDE at a third of the price. Disappointed and left hungry.

An excellent restaurant. Delicious food, quick service and tasty cocktails. The menu is extensive, the decor is interesting and the atmosphere is comfortable and welcoming.

Nice wee restaurant, nice vibe and look. Service was great and not so great. Lady who was serving us was sharp, attentive and was great. The other server was essentially MIA when the lady left. Food was good, although we waited a long time for spaghetti meatballs and a couple of other dishes. My starter was also wrong i ordered the prawn cocktail and received prawn tempura, was actually really nice though. A small let down was the pizza, was awfully chewy and bland. Also was offered a couple of free drinks for my wait. Overall decent place to eat, nice vibe, good pricing. Maybe they had an off day considering the reviews are solid 🤞.

Service was outstanding. Friendly and professional personal. Food was amazing too. There was nothing I could complain. I had Gnocchi which been perfectly cooked with delicious toppings. As a starter was fried squids which been perfect as well - the best one I ever had.

Myself and 6 of my friends had lunch there yesterday. We had different food, all of it lovely. Mac and cheese. Chicken noodle soup.Chicken panini. Will go back again.

Came for our first evening meal on Monday and had our last evening meal today (sunday), Monday was great and didn't think it would get better, Sunday it was busy (6pm) and service was great not waiting long at all, the food we weren't waiting long either, our server Steph superb, even thou busy there was always time for her to stop check if we wanted anything, when paying was asked if all had been ok, how long we were stopping, if we had enjoyed Troon, to me being asked questions means I'm not just a table I'm a person and to me this is important and having 30yr plus in the hospitality industry its important. We had a voucher to use, or we would never have visited. Glad we did. Food was tasty and well priced for portion size. We got mussels and chips (£17 ish), veg tempura (£7.95 for decent amount - 8 ish large pieces), capresse ciabatta and crisps with leaf (£8.95 from memory. Certainly no more). Big pot of moules, tasty tempura, decent sized ciabatta. Service was friendly and quick, food was fresh. Dog friendly area outside. We didn't get drinks, just water. Bill was just over £33, which felt reasonable. The pizzas and the sharing platters were had by customers around us and looked absolutely delicious. Both were very large portions. Decent vegetarian options.

Popped in to escape the rain and grab a coffee. Two and half hours later still there having enjoyed three courses of glorious food. Well done guys.

The atmosphere and staff were lovely but the pizza was surprisingly tasteless. Maybe it was just the kids pizza but, even though they had a lot of fun building it, it tasted really bland and more of semolina than of any of the toppings. The rest of the food was fine.

Visited for first time from Glasgow wife had Lido,s mac n cheese she would highly recommend. My fish chips n peas was delicious, service was great. Will definitely return 10/10 well done Lido Staff 😀

Lovely food, great atmosphere, attentive staff.

We came as walk ins but there was a table available though being the Easter holidays week the restaurant was busy. My companions had been before but the Lido was new to me and very welcoming it was. We ate mostly from the lunchtime £10 menu and were very happy with the food. I enjoyed the mussels in a creamy sauce and chips on the side. My partner had the mussels too but the fish goujons which came with plenty of chips so I could have shared his! Others had pizza and chicken off the lunch menu. Everyone satisfied with the food and atmosphere but some felt the vibrant decor was a bit much. Good efficient pleasant service and no need for dessert. Coffee was nice too.

We went in for an afternoon cuppa and cake, excellent service and decor. Our trip was spoiled by the Troon / Barassie beach carpark. Dog poo catered for but no litter bins and beach access terrible rough grassy bumpy area and chargeable toilets. No wonder people go abroad with basic things catered for.

Very nice and modern since it's all been refurbished. Food is excellent as per buzzworks standard. Very quick service as well. Highly recommended.

Food was delicious - flavoursome and of a large amount!! I'd recommend the piri piri chicken. Staff were friendly, efficient and service was quick. Can't quite put my finger on why I'm not giving 5 stars. It just wasn't as cosy as other places and although staff were efficient they didn't stand out.

Went for a family meal on Saturday 23rd Dec. The place was jam packed. We were seated straight away and had menus and drinks served within minutes. Great start. Everything we ordered was available and food and drinks were served quickly. The food was exceptional. We thoroughly enjoyed it. There was a great atmosphere. The staff were very friendly and attentive even though they were really really busy. Top marks Lido
