Carrigan's Eating House in South Lanarkshire

Good food as usual but the service was unusually slow tonight. My main problem is the portion size is way too big. I want to come in for a 3 course meal bit always only have a main. The food waste in this chain of restaurants must be massive. The prices are fine so they could easily reduce the portions and make more money from selling more courses.

Excellent all round as usual, food very good, service very good, price reasonable, 5 stars, very busy as always, booking is essential

Amazing food amazing portion size amazing value. Absolutely loved our visit here with its warm and welcoming atmosphere and the staff are super friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Will visit again.

I visited with my daughter to celebrate her birthday. We booked a table and once seated waited 5 or so minutes to give a drinks order. We then ordered a main meal each. I ordered the Caledonian chicken and my daughter a pizza. We waited just shy of 45 minutes for the food. My daughter’s pizza was well cooked. My food was cold. The chicken was hot but the veg was cold and the sauce had no heat at all. The plate also had burnt chips on it when usually this meal comes with mash/new potatoes. I sent it back and the man who took the plate didn’t seem all that fussed or apologetic. I’ve never sent a meal back before so unsure if this is standard? My daughter was almost finished her pizza when my meal came back out. I finished my dinner which was nice, but by then I was so annoyed that we were by that point sat for an hour that it wasn’t the most enjoyable. I ate my dinner and went to pay. We had planned to have a main and dessert each but the service was too slow, my daughter was bored waiting by the time I had finished my dinner and asked if she could just go home to have some cake there instead. The man who took my payment made no apology for the state of the service, didn’t ask us if we enjoyed our meal, don’t even think I got a thanks from him. He’s not doing much positive for then business. For a birthday celebration meal…it sucked. For that reason I won’t be back and I used to come here regularly. Not sure what has happened to the place but from reviews I can see it’s not been a one off. Such a shame.

This is an average place and the décor is looking a little tired but for a quick meal out then it is fine but has some negatives. On arrival we stood waiting for some time as no one was on the desk, we were then shown to our comfy table as described by the hostess which had a bench and 2 chairs. I can assure you the bench is far from comfy!! Waitress was over very quickly to take our order and the food was good. Serving though could be a little better as my cutlery was just handed to me and I had to wait about 20 min to get the can of coke I had ordered, I had to ask twice for it to arrive and I had almost finished my starter before I got it so not great. When we had finished then again we had to wait around 20 min before anyone came near us to ask for the bill. As I stated it is fine for a quick meal out but if it is a more special occasion then I would choose somewhere else.

We were ushered to our table as soon as we arrived and althuogh the retaurant was very busy service was excellent. The menu was very extensive with a good choice and not too pricey. I am gluten free and I had no trouble in selecting suitable dishes. All our food was well prepared and delicious. We will be back!

Fantastic night (as usual). Food is amazing and large portions. The staff are all great, especially Chris who was fantastic with our 2 year old grandson. Nothing was too much trouble for him. Looking forward to going back.

Was ok. Reminded me of a typical chain type restaurant attached to a hotel. Food was ok and we were well looked after by the staff. Felt the price didn’t quite reflect the quality of the food but wasn’t terrible

Very busy but the staff were lovely, I had steak pie and chips, the chips were rock hard as if they had been reheated, I told my server this and he said he would let them know in the kitchen but nothing more was said about the matter, disappointing as I usually love the food

Great fresh food. Staff are great. Our family go on a regular basis as its affordable for most people and has a good selection to suit most tastes.

My review of 3 out of 5 was down to waiting lengthy time for main course, staff shortages were probably the main reason as we had one waiter that served us but didn't seem to concerned when I challenged him on the 15-20 min wait for dessert for children when it was only ice cream from children menu,even when he removed main course dishes he never offered a dessert menu for us ,we had to wait another 10 min for him to appear in area to ask him for dessert menu Meals were good when they arrived,so a decision was made not to leave a tip , been to other Carrigans in area which staff were much more quicker and attentive Poor show Carrigans!!

Lovely restaurant and friendly staff. Great menu to cater for anyone's tastes. Definitely recommend and will be back.

We love Cardigans!! Consistently good food and always great service. We visited yesterday for an Easter lunch and got the usual amazing food and service. Cannot fault this place and already looking forward to going back.

I went here for lunch with my wife for lunch .we had great service as soon as we walked in the door.food was excellent and really good portion size .Will definitely be returning in the future.

Online booking system very efficient. Staff also efficient and excellent as usual. Food great and generous helpings. Usually a salmon fillet in other restaurants are small but my salmon serving was large and plentiful. Very tasty too. Thoroughly recommend.
